- 0:00No one realized that just 10 minutes
- 0:01before the plane crashed, 20-year-old
- 0:03co-pilot Natalia Volkov Harris sent
- 0:05three heartbreaking messages. The first
- 0:07message was for her boyfriend. Sensing
- 0:09conditions deteriorating right before
- 0:11takeoff, Natalia texted Justin about the
- 0:13bad weather. Justin was an experienced
- 0:15pilot [music] himself, and the two often
- 0:17flew together as a team. But tragically,
- 0:19before Justin could even reply, the
- 0:21aircraft began plunging downward at a
- 0:22terrifying rate of 8,000 ft per minute.
- 0:25In just 72 seconds, Natalia lost her
- 0:27life. The second message was meant for
- 0:29her mother. It was an unspoken rule
- 0:30between them. [music] Ever since Natalia
- 0:32became a pilot, her mother always told
- 0:34her to text that she was safe at every
- 0:36takeoff and landing, no matter how
- 0:37rushed she was. But this time, [music]
- 0:39that reassuring message never arrived.
- 0:41In an interview, the heartbroken mother
- 0:43shared, "I wanted her to achieve her
- 0:45dream, but deep down, I knew that dream
- 0:47might take her away from me one day."
- 0:48The final message was for her younger
- 0:50sister, who was still in middle school.
- 0:52She had always looked up to Natalia and
- 0:53dreamed of flying, too. Realizing she
- 0:55might never return, Natalia left a final
- 0:57wish. She prayed her sister would never
- 0:59fear the skies because of what happened
- 1:01to her. If you reached the very end, who
- 1:03would you send that last message to?
