Helluva Boss HATES Women — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Hell of a boss.
- 0:01Women. Okay, that's an exaggeration. But
- 0:04I mean in the sense that despite the
- 0:05fact that the show's female cast is
- 0:07incredibly important to the overall
- 0:09story and dynamic of everything, they
- 0:11are so unbelievably dry and
- 0:13underdeveloped. With a lot of what could
- 0:15be good moments for them just being
- 0:17disregarded and given to their male
- 0:19cast. So today, I'm going to go through
- 0:21all the episodes, point out everything
- 0:22that happens involving the characters I
- 0:24want to talk about, and occasionally
- 0:25give out my points more clearly.
- 0:28Mission is zero.
- 0:32Here we meet IMP or I.M.P. So our first
- 0:34two primary characters to talk about are
- 0:36Millie and Loona. Millie is Moxxie's
- 0:38rough and tough southern wife with an
- 0:39urge to kill, and Loona is Blitz's
- 0:4122-year-old rough around the edges
- 0:42rebellious daughter. I don't have
- 0:44anything to say about these two
- 0:45characters here considering this is just
- 0:46exposition. It's boring for everybody.
- 0:49Not a single character here gets
- 0:50anything, so there's not a real problem.
- 0:54Murder family.
- 0:57I like Ms. Mayberry. I think she's neat.
- 0:59She's just a plot device, so obviously
- 1:01not a lot to say about her good or bad,
- 1:03but I like her design both in and out of
- 1:05hell. Same with Martha since the big
- 1:06thing is her whole family is insane
- 1:08including her. So again, not a lot to
- 1:10say about her. This whole episode is
- 1:12Moxxie being a wuss with Millie
- 1:13encouraging him. Loona saves the show
- 1:15and then they go to Earth where Moxxie
- 1:16promptly
- 1:18sells the entire mission. Later on,
- 1:20Millie tries to take her one-on-one and
- 1:21gets obliterated. Millie and Blitz are
- 1:23get captured and saved by Moxxie who
- 1:25decides to clutch up and guess what? Do
- 1:28his job. And they all go home with
- 1:29Moxxie learning his lesson somewhat.
- 1:33Loo Loo Land.
- 1:37Here we get introduced to Stolas and his
- 1:38daughter Octavia and their relationship.
- 1:40And we're also introduced to Stolas's
- 1:42wife Stella who is very very very angry
- 1:46at him. But I'd like to say that Stella
- 1:47is not entirely unjustified at least at
- 1:49this point in her hate for Stolas since
- 1:51Stolas isn't a good person either in my
- 1:54opinion. But over time,
- 1:56Stella for reasons that are very poor,
- 1:59does become the worst of the two. It's
- 2:01also made clear that Octavia isn't too
- 2:02fond of her family, not her mom nor her
- 2:04dad. And Stolas doesn't really treat her
- 2:06as her age. Octavia's a bit of an angsty
- 2:09teen and a bit rough around the edges,
- 2:10but not in the same vein as Loona and
- 2:12definitely not for the same reasons.
- 2:14Moxxie and Millie have their little dumb
- 2:16B plot of just playing arcade games
- 2:17while Moxxie tries to prove himself. And
- 2:20I mean, it's cute, I guess. Then we're
- 2:22given the possible reasons Octavia
- 2:24hasn't shown up back at this park since
- 2:26she was a kid such as the trauma with
- 2:27the Fizzarolli robot, and Stolas doesn't
- 2:30really care. [ __ ] Stolas. Octavia gets
- 2:32rightfully frustrated at this and runs
- 2:34off. In fact, I just want to say this. I
- 2:36don't ever really have an issue with
- 2:38Octavia ever. I think she's a good
- 2:40character, and I think that she's right
- 2:41in how she feels. Everything around her
- 2:43does suck. Octavia and Stolas have a
- 2:45heart-to-heart and she expresses her
- 2:47issues and frustrations with him. [ __ ]
- 2:49Stolas.
- 2:52Spring broken.
- 2:55We get introduced to Verosika, Blitz's
- 2:57ex. And I'm going to be honest, for as
- 2:59much as an antagonist as she is, she's
- 3:01just mean. That's That's really it. But
- 3:03that's because she's an archetype than
- 3:05anything else. I don't think it's bad
- 3:06writing. We also meet Vortex. He will
- 3:09come back. Moxxie gets assaulted. You
- 3:12know, they they do just kind of like
- 3:13brush over this stuff sometimes. Loona
- 3:15makes a good point and carries the
- 3:16episode's mission on her back and then
- 3:18sells. I don't blame her for wanting to,
- 3:19you know, at least enjoy her time up
- 3:21here. Unlike Blitz, Moxxie and Millie
- 3:23decide to actually do their job, but due
- 3:25to being mistaken for a rodent, he gets
- 3:27completely wasted and it's now up to
- 3:29Millie to carry the entire team on her
- 3:31back. Millie has her moment here, and
- 3:33trust me, you will not be getting a lot
- 3:35of these moments. And when she does,
- 3:37they're not nearly as complex or
- 3:39in-depth as other characters' moments.
- 3:41Again, near the end, Verosika is shown
- 3:43to kind of be the antagonist they took
- 3:45down, but overall, she is just mean and
- 3:47that's it. She's not really unjustified
- 3:49in being mean either.
- 3:53Cherub.
- 3:59Okay, look. I'll let me admit nothing
- 4:00really happens this episode. It's just
- 4:02Cherub versus I.M.P. The only detail I
- 4:05could give is it's just more of Moxxie
- 4:06and Millie being a power couple, and
- 4:08you're going to notice that Millie
- 4:09doesn't really get a lot of these solo
- 4:11moments to herself.
- 4:14Harvest Moon.
- 4:17Oh oh do I have a lot to say about this
- 4:20episode. This is an episode centered
- 4:22around the place Millie grew up with her
- 4:24parents. Certainly, she has a lot to
- 4:27going on, right? Well, first, Millie's
- 4:29parents don't really approve of Moxxie
- 4:30too much. And the episode's plot
- 4:32involving him and Millie is about him
- 4:33proving himself to her family, and
- 4:35Millie is just
- 4:37there.
- 4:38Yeah, for some reason this episode isn't
- 4:40actually about her in really any way if
- 4:43I had to be honest. But at the end,
- 4:45Millie does come in to try and save
- 4:46Moxxie. Again, she's given a moment, and
- 4:49once M and M are in the cellar, it's
- 4:52Moxxie who gets out and has to save the
- 4:55day. Are we [ __ ] serious right now?
- 4:58Really? That That's it? Oh yeah, Stella
- 5:01put a hit out on her husband.
- 5:04Truth seekers.
- 5:07We meet my favorite duo of the entire
- 5:09show, and as far as I know, they don't
- 5:11have actual names. But hey, Millie and
- 5:13Loona get a B plot, and I really like
- 5:15this one much more than Millie's
- 5:17previous one and Loona's. With Moxxie
- 5:19and Blitz getting caught, it sets up a
- 5:20genuinely good side plot of Millie and
- 5:22Loona working together as a dynamic duo
- 5:24to save them. I wouldn't say it expands
- 5:26on Millie's character at all, and I'll
- 5:28get more into that later, but I do think
- 5:29it expands on Loona presenting that for
- 5:31however much of a front she puts on, she
- 5:33does care about those around her at IMP
- 5:35and the people she works with.
- 5:39Ozzies.
- 5:42[ __ ] Stolas. This episode on the Millie
- 5:44and Moxxie side of things is just them
- 5:46on a cute date. Verosika shows up, and
- 5:47again, the show tries to play her as an
- 5:49ass, and it works. But also, we're not
- 5:51given any actual reason to resent her
- 5:53the way Blitz does. And that's really
- 5:54all there is to say about this one.
- 5:58Queen Bee.
- 6:01Holy [ __ ] this is a Loona extravaganza
- 6:04of an episode. Here we get to see her in
- 6:05the party that Vortex invited her to.
- 6:07And we also get to meet Beelzebub, and
- 6:09she's really really really boring. I'm
- 6:12not going to lie to you. In this
- 6:13episode, we get to see the more insecure
- 6:15parts of Loona. She's rather nervous
- 6:16around this new crowd of people, mainly
- 6:19because of Vortex. And it's a nice
- 6:20change of pace from her usual loud and
- 6:22rude personality. But other than that,
- 6:23we get some insight on Loona and Blitz's
- 6:25father-daughter relationship and how at
- 6:27her core, Loona does care about him. And
- 6:28Loona does have trust in him. And then,
- 6:31he ruins it.
- 6:33>> [sighs]
- 6:33>> Overall, I like this episode for her.
- 6:35It's kind of boring because at its core,
- 6:36it is a Blitz episode, but I think it
- 6:38characterizes her much better than the
- 6:40previous seven episodes. Did you include
- 6:42the episode zero or the pilot?
- 6:47The circus.
- 6:50Stella's back, and she's just a lot more
- 6:52stereotypically evil. But only to
- 6:54justify Stolas who sucks, and that's
- 6:56kind of it. This is going to be a really
- 6:59really reoccurring issue that I have
- 7:00mainly with Stella's character where she
- 7:02barely gets any screen time, but every
- 7:04time we do see her, she's just more
- 7:06cartoonishly evil to make us want to
- 7:08side with Stolas. Because as we learn
- 7:10more and more about the idiot and pretty
- 7:11incompetent person that is Stolas,
- 7:13Stella magically just decides to get 20
- 7:15times more evil.
- 7:19Seeing stars.
- 7:22Octavia alert. Finally, and again, [ __ ]
- 7:25Stolas. But also, Octavia is again, in
- 7:27my opinion, perfectly justified in how
- 7:29she acts. I think she actually is a
- 7:31really good character, okay? Whereas
- 7:33clickbaity as the title of this video
- 7:35is, a lot of my issues have to do with
- 7:36the lack of screen time and character
- 7:37changes like Stella, or a lack of
- 7:39character change with a lot of screen
- 7:41time like Millie. We open the I.M.P.
- 7:43doing their usual thing and Octavia
- 7:45sneaking off onto Earth. And let me tell
- 7:48you, they give Octavia the most fun and
- 7:50enjoyable screen time this episode
- 7:52possible. It's Octavia walking around LA
- 7:55with Loona trying to track her.
- 7:57Meanwhile, Blitz and Stolas get actual
- 8:01genuine plot and character depth added
- 8:03to them.
- 8:04But this episode does give us more
- 8:07actual insight on how Loona is a
- 8:09competent member of the team. This
- 8:11episode gives us more insight on how
- 8:12Loona, while again rude and rather
- 8:15unashamed of herself at times and treats
- 8:17her coworkers like garbage, is a
- 8:19competent worker and she does do a lot
- 8:21of things to help out. Again, I like
- 8:23this episode. I do have annoyance in the
- 8:25fact that I think Octavia gets the worst
- 8:27screen time out of the bunch. Not that
- 8:29it's the least amount, but rather that
- 8:31it's not a lot of anything compared to
- 8:34what Blitz and Stolas gets. But also,
- 8:36the scene between Loona and Octavia is
- 8:38really nice. I'm not going to try to
- 8:39deny that. Another small annoyance is
- 8:41how Loona's backstory is thrown in here
- 8:43for Blitz's sake and given no
- 8:44independence. It's just a little
- 8:46annoying.
- 8:49Exes and O's.
- 8:52Oh my gosh.
- 8:55>> [sighs]
- 8:57>> Millie walks in and is pissed due to
- 8:59seeing an ex. Wow, really on the nose,
- 9:02aren't we? The main thing I want to take
- 9:04from this episode is the fact that it's
- 9:05an episode on the place Moxxie grew up
- 9:08in involving people in his life, and it
- 9:11does it just focus on someone else. So
- 9:14what was up with Harvest Moon and Seeing
- 9:16Stars? Clearly, we can write an episode
- 9:18focused on solely one character's life
- 9:21and upbringing and their emotional
- 9:22weights.
- 9:25Interlude.
- 9:28Now, I want to frame real quick
- 9:30something I call the Millie problem.
- 9:32Whereas in, she exists solely as one of
- 9:34three things in the show.
- 9:36One, a very aggressive and murderous
- 9:39woman. Two, Moxxie's loving wife. Or
- 9:41three, Moxxie's loving and murderous
- 9:44wife. That's it. Millie doesn't have any
- 9:47character outside of being aggressive
- 9:49and married or being compassionate.
- 9:52That's her only two traits. Again,
- 9:55Harvest Moon, an episode on her home
- 9:58turf, an episode with her family, an
- 10:00episode where everything basically is
- 10:02associated with her. She doesn't get any
- 10:05development in at all. In fact, she
- 10:07doesn't get development in like any of
- 10:09these episodes except for one that's
- 10:11coming up soon. And yes, you can argue
- 10:13that she isn't a main character, then
- 10:15why does a Moxie get a self-centered
- 10:17episode? Why does a Luna? Why does
- 10:19Octavia kind of get one? Why doesn't
- 10:21Millie get anything?
- 10:24[ __ ] turn energy.
- 10:27More of Stella just being cartoonishly
- 10:29insane and evil all of a sudden in
- 10:31comparison to her somewhat justified
- 10:33rage from the start. Also, [ __ ] Stolas.
- 10:36Anyways, Luna gets a shot and M&M gets
- 10:38to show off as a power couple with them
- 10:40searching all around for Striker and
- 10:41Stolas. Stella continues just being more
- 10:44and more and more evil. Again, the more
- 10:47evil she is, the easier it is to side
- 10:49with Stolas. But I would like to say,
- 10:51props to Stella's voice actor. She's
- 10:53amazing because she really really plays
- 10:55that whole super whiny and annoying
- 10:57character trope really well. M&M gets
- 11:00Striker and they have a chance to kill
- 11:02him. Yeah, you heard it before. And
- 11:04that's about it for this one.
- 11:08Unhappy campers.
- 11:11Oh, I dislike this episode so much.
- 11:15Mainly because they butcher my dog, my
- 11:17hombre Moxie. As much as I hate this
- 11:20show, this guy is me. I've decided for
- 11:22the rest of [music] my life. This
- 11:24episode is 20 minutes of M&M except it's
- 11:26just about Moxie being petty. But I also
- 11:28find Millie's I'm important speech
- 11:30really funny because on a level of
- 11:32characters that are important in this
- 11:33show, the writers just cast her aside
- 11:35constantly. Also, we meet Blitz's sister
- 11:38who we don't get a lot on, so I don't
- 11:39have anything to say about her. But
- 11:41that's kind of it. It's an M&M episode
- 11:43but mainly about Moxie being petty.
- 11:48Oops.
- 11:52Good episode, just doesn't have any of
- 11:54the characters talking about.
- 11:57I'm not saying this title.
- 12:01Same as last episode, but I will admit,
- 12:04I kind of like this show's musical
- 12:06sequences at times. I'm not going to
- 12:07lie.
- 12:10The full moon.
- 12:13This episode's opening is really really
- 12:16good. I listen to it on repeat
- 12:17sometimes. Also, what else to say? [ __ ]
- 12:20Stolas. We get caught back up with my
- 12:22favorite duo and Cherub and Imp have a
- 12:25fight.
- 12:25That's it.
- 12:29Apology tour.
- 12:32What's important to mention here? The
- 12:35lesbians. And also, this episode really
- 12:38characterizes and humanizes Verosika
- 12:40really really well. I actually really
- 12:43love what they do with her character
- 12:45here. They take her from this somewhat
- 12:47reoccurring antagonist in Blitz's life
- 12:49to a genuinely likable character that
- 12:51you want to kind of see more of. So, you
- 12:54know what? I'll give them a point. I
- 12:56think this is a good character. I think
- 12:57her turnaround is amazing.
- 13:01The ghost [ __ ]
- 13:05What a good episode for everyone but
- 13:07Millie. But at least at least she gets
- 13:10something this episode such as a greater
- 13:13show into her less aggressive and more
- 13:14compassionate side for her friends and
- 13:16not just Moxie. Also, holy [ __ ] Brandon
- 13:19Rogers, I love you. Millie is showing
- 13:22here to be a lot calmer and great in
- 13:24emotionally being there for her friends
- 13:25and loved ones. So, Millie has been
- 13:27shown to us but not nearly to this
- 13:29extent. We get backstory on how Imp
- 13:31formed or IMP and how everyone met and
- 13:34it's really sweet. It's cool. It's And
- 13:36it also gives us a bit of Millie's
- 13:37backstory as well. We also get this
- 13:39whole conversation between Millie and
- 13:41Blitz and I love the irony of this line
- 13:43of it's all I'm good for when she talks
- 13:44about how Imp served more than just
- 13:46muscle and grunts. When I mean, she
- 13:49hardly has progressed from being more
- 13:51than that in this show. And that's
- 13:53really it. Again, for an episode about
- 13:56Millie and someone else, Millie gets so
- 13:58little anything. Similar to Unhappy
- 14:00Campers or even Harvest Moon.
- 14:05Interlude.
- 14:08Again, something I have issue with is
- 14:10the aforementioned Millie problem.
- 14:11Millie gets episodes where she is very
- 14:13important but also somehow nothing gets
- 14:15added to her character. Harvest Moon,
- 14:17Unhappy Campers, Ghost [ __ ] I mean,
- 14:19I liked Ghost [ __ ] but my main issue
- 14:21is that we already knew Millie could be
- 14:23compassionate. It's not like we never
- 14:25knew that about her. Expanded upon it is
- 14:28neater but doesn't make up for the fact
- 14:29that this is the first time this show
- 14:31has put actual thought into her
- 14:32character. I have issues with Luna, too.
- 14:35Because her backstory was just
- 14:37shoehorned in there and never elaborated
- 14:39on afterwards. And Stella is just
- 14:43I mean, she is super evil but it's not
- 14:46well written. She's just evil. And she's
- 14:49only so evil because they want you to
- 14:52like Stolas.
- 14:55Mastermind.
- 14:58Stolas' episode.
- 15:00That's about it.
- 15:03Sinsmas.
- 15:07This episode,
- 15:08I actually like it on a rewatch. More
- 15:10Octavia. [ __ ] Stolas. But a little tiny
- 15:13bit less now as we get more development
- 15:15of Octavia's side of things who, despite
- 15:18overhearing what her mother is talking
- 15:19about, sings a song about not feeling if
- 15:21Stolas really loves her. And again,
- 15:23another show that Stella is just evil.
- 15:27Like really really evil. The gang goes
- 15:29on a hit and share a sweet moment,
- 15:30especially Luna and Blitz. And Millie is
- 15:32oddly aggressive towards her peers. I
- 15:35sure hope this develops into a genuinely
- 15:36good plot point for her and isn't just
- 15:38used to introduce the most stupid and
- 15:39idiotic thing this show has ever shown.
- 15:42But Luna development. She's a lot more
- 15:43of a character here than in the other
- 15:45episodes and she gets an upscale. Some
- 15:47more Octavia and I'm going to be honest,
- 15:49I understand her angle here. But also,
- 15:52come on, dude. You know who your mom is.
- 15:56Why won't you just let him explain like
- 15:58a tiny bit? Oh, and Millie's pregnant, I
- 16:01guess or something.
- 16:05Shorts.
- 16:08Did I mention Helluva has shorts, too?
- 16:10I'm going to be honest, I only have a
- 16:12few things to say about them.
- 16:14Okay. One, shout out all my trans
- 16:16homies. Number two, more Moxie focus,
- 16:19oddly. And three, for a short series
- 16:22about different characters and things,
- 16:25there is a short on Millie's sister with
- 16:27Millie in it but not a short about
- 16:30Millie herself.
- 16:33Interlude.
- 16:37Rather than just throw together a bunch
- 16:38of jumbled plots and points, I'm going
- 16:40to instead move everything into four
- 16:42separate sections: Millie, Luna,
- 16:44Octavia, and Stella.
- 16:48The Millie problem.
- 16:51Could you name a time when Millie got
- 16:53genuine growth and development in the
- 16:55entire show? Or a moment where she had a
- 16:57lot of focus and emotional depth? Maybe
- 16:59once or twice but one of those moments
- 17:02is literally the last episode of that
- 17:04out of the entire show so far. This is
- 17:06one of my favorite characters in this
- 17:08show but oh my gosh, they must hate her
- 17:11in the writers' room because why in the
- 17:13world is she not getting an ounce of
- 17:15development or anything throughout the
- 17:17entire show? Firstly, the entire show
- 17:20she remains as again three things:
- 17:22Moxie's wife, an angry, murderous, and
- 17:24cruel woman, and Moxie's murderous,
- 17:26cruel, and angry wife. Only until Ghost
- 17:29[ __ ] does she truly get a fourth
- 17:31thing, being a good friend. But it's not
- 17:33even that new to us. She has shown
- 17:35previously that she is emotionally
- 17:36available, that she isn't just a killer.
- 17:39And yet, every ounce of her screen time
- 17:41is either sucking up to Moxie, killing
- 17:44someone, or doing something with or for
- 17:46someone where she isn't the more
- 17:48prominent of the two. I mean, come on,
- 17:50she doesn't do anything for herself in
- 17:52this show. She has no independence in
- 17:54her actions as a character. I would make
- 17:56the argument that she barely is a
- 17:58character outside of being Moxie's wife
- 18:00and Blitz's friend, which is made even
- 18:02worse when you compare episodes like
- 18:04Harvest Moon to Exes and Ohs. In both
- 18:06episodes, it's taking place in each of
- 18:08the M&M's respective rings where they
- 18:10grew up. And yet, both center around
- 18:13Moxie. In Ghost [ __ ] she exists as
- 18:15Blitz's emotional support and muscle.
- 18:17Hell, in every episode she's prominent
- 18:19in, she's either there to just be the
- 18:21muscle or to keep Moxie in check. And to
- 18:24just rub salt right into the wound,
- 18:27she's now pregnant. There's nothing
- 18:29wrong with that fact. Not at all. That's
- 18:31not the issue in and of itself. It's
- 18:33just that so far Millie is just Moxie's
- 18:35wife. And now she's going to be a
- 18:37possible mother. That's kind of it for
- 18:40her character. She is so unbelievably
- 18:42two-dimensional. And yet, she's also one
- 18:45of the core cast. I mean, I would argue
- 18:47that Sally May is a more built-up
- 18:49character than her. It feels like a lot
- 18:51of the overall issue with Millie is that
- 18:53they write her from the perspective of
- 18:54how do we make her a more interesting
- 18:56wife and not how do we make her a more
- 18:58interesting character? A lot of her
- 18:59faults are because her moments always
- 19:01have to involve somebody close to her.
- 19:04She can't just breathe on her own. A lot
- 19:06of her moments are stuff that involve
- 19:08her relationship with Moxie or with
- 19:09Blitz but also because Blitz got her
- 19:11with Moxie. She's a character that has
- 19:13not been written into a corner and is
- 19:14incredibly frustrating. People will
- 19:17argue that Millie doesn't need a big
- 19:19moment to have a lot of character but I
- 19:20think it's incredibly dumb. That don't
- 19:22mean Millie is fully developed as a
- 19:24character and doesn't have to change or
- 19:25be expanded upon. But a character that
- 19:27starts off at their final point is
- 19:29incredibly boring when they're set in a
- 19:31constantly moving world where everyone
- 19:33else gets a big moment, a self-centered
- 19:35adventure. And even then, that only
- 19:38really works if the character is
- 19:39supposed to be some kind of mentor
- 19:40figure that is supposed to be developed.
- 19:43And it's so annoying how in Sinsmas, she
- 19:45cracks. She gets genuinely frustrated
- 19:47and upset for the first time really
- 19:49ever, showing that maybe she bottles up
- 19:51her emotions, Maybe she plays a
- 19:53character to feel stronger when she is
- 19:55secretly vulnerable and emotional. Maybe
- 19:57that's why she helps others because she
- 19:58can't help herself. Maybe it's something
- 20:00good and it's because she's pregnant. I
- 20:03don't want to sit here and try to sound
- 20:04like some kind of nice guy feminist, you
- 20:06know, tip my fedora to you, but I mean,
- 20:08come on. These characters undeniably are
- 20:11so much more lackluster. The female cast
- 20:14of this show is undeniably just boring
- 20:16and flat and a really lame get rid of
- 20:19the male cast.
- 20:22Luna is actually good, question mark?
- 20:26Admittedly, I don't have too many issues
- 20:27with Luna. I think she gets good enough
- 20:30development and again, my biggest gripe
- 20:32is one thing. They introduced her
- 20:33backstory of being in like a pound
- 20:35adoption center and yeah, it explains
- 20:38her personality and stuff, but it was
- 20:39shown to be really crucial to her
- 20:41character. So, could we please talk
- 20:43about it more maybe? Again, this is more
- 20:46of a writing issue in general, not just
- 20:47a Luna thing and obviously, I'm not
- 20:49being genuine. I don't think they hate
- 20:51women. These are just gaps in the
- 20:52writing that exist and I want to make a
- 20:54video on the male cast and female cast,
- 20:56so
- 20:57it was a really good title. I think the
- 20:59real big issue is just the show focuses
- 21:01too much on Stolas to the point where
- 21:03these other characters can't shine at
- 21:05all. But I think compared to Millie,
- 21:07Luna is headed in a really good
- 21:08direction for her character. I mean, the
- 21:10show near the end of its second season
- 21:12actually does develop her in a way I
- 21:13really do like. She's more forgiving and
- 21:15caring of Blitz and in general, the
- 21:17people around her, making her a nicer
- 21:19character, but doesn't give up the
- 21:20rougher edges she has and probably will
- 21:23keep.
- 21:25Octavia is okay,
- 21:29I don't have a lot to talk about here. I
- 21:30think she's cool for how little screen
- 21:32time she has. She has really good
- 21:34characterization and depth. My only
- 21:36issue is the last episode that's out so
- 21:38far. For some reason just makes her out
- 21:40to be a little dumb. [music] Like you
- 21:42know how your mom is, you overheard the
- 21:44arguments and stuff. You literally saw
- 21:45your dad almost get killed and you're
- 21:47not going to let him explain? Again, I
- 21:49think Stolas sucks, that's a whole
- 21:51another topic. But like, come on, you're
- 21:52not going to give him like a chance,
- 21:54like a a tiny small chance? I understand
- 21:57it's for plot and it's, you know, going
- 21:59to progress the story and stuff. It just
- 22:01feels a little arbitrary is all. But if
- 22:03I'm missing some key crucial detail
- 22:05here, please do tell me. It just feels
- 22:06like the Helluva Boss I watched didn't
- 22:08give her enough reason to do that.
- 22:12Stella is boring and lazy.
- 22:16This is a whole other can of worms,
- 22:17okay? Because a lot of my gripes with
- 22:19her are because of Stolas and how they
- 22:21justify him. So, for me to really get my
- 22:23opinion out correctly, I'd have to talk
- 22:25about Stolas, too. And I'm not doing
- 22:27that right now. But every time we see
- 22:29Stella, she is just more cartoonishly
- 22:31over the top evil. It's become her whole
- 22:33thing. It's annoying to know that it's
- 22:34because they want Stolas to be the more
- 22:36likable of the two. As long as you can
- 22:38hate Stella, you can at least like
- 22:40Stolas. It's arbitrary and I think it's
- 22:43incredibly shallow for a character that
- 22:44is made up to be a major antagonist to
- 22:46be this incredibly boring and basic.
- 22:50Retrospect.
- 22:54Now, you might be saying, "Well, Omni,
- 22:55this doesn't sound too bad. I think
- 22:56you're being a whiny baby about it." And
- 22:58you're right, but at the same time,
- 23:00these characters are again actually
- 23:02important to the plot of the show in
- 23:04each of their own ways. They are crucial
- 23:06to certain things and yet they don't get
- 23:08nearly as much development as anyone
- 23:10else. Even Moxxie gets a lot. My issue
- 23:13is that the show has completely stopped
- 23:14being about IMP and it's just what's
- 23:16Blitz [music] going to do today while
- 23:17neglecting some of its side cast.
- 23:19Except for Moxxie. And it's infuriating.
- 23:22Now, I'm not a hell of a fan. I'm
- 23:24actually very, very against this show. I
- 23:26just don't like it. I think it's bad.
- 23:28And I understand that my opinion is
- 23:30skewed. No matter how unbiased I think I
- 23:33am, I understand to an extent I am
- 23:35biased. I just think the show writes
- 23:36itself into these corners with their
- 23:38characters and those characters tend to
- 23:39be the female cast. Meanwhile, their
- 23:41male characters are just getting so much
- 23:44depth. Characters like Asmodeus are
- 23:45characterized in their entirety and
- 23:47given more depth than characters like
- 23:48Millie. Characters like Stella. And then
- 23:50you have characters like Fizz, who yes,
- 23:52are more important [music] to the plot
- 23:54because of who they connect to, but have
- 23:55the same level of screen time I feel
- 23:57like as characters like Millie. Does
- 23:59Helluva Boss actually hate women? No.
- 24:02Does Helluva Boss clearly put less time
- 24:04and effort into their female cast? Yeah.
- 24:06Does that make the male cast better? No.
- 24:09Yeah, kind of. For every Blitz and
- 24:11Stolas you get, you also get a Fizz, a
- 24:13character who is actually really, really
- 24:15good in like every aspect. At the very
- 24:18least, the male cast gets a lot more
- 24:20care into their writing and are
- 24:22characterized beyond having like three
- 24:24personality traits. Overall, it is just
- 24:27going to be waiting for season 3 and
- 24:29seeing what happens. But oh boy, they
- 24:31could really prove their incompetence
- 24:33when it comes to characters like Millie.
- 24:36Hey, wait, before you click off, I have
- 24:38something important to say. Please just
- 24:40stick around for a little bit. Right
- 24:42now, I'm looking for a job, and
- 24:43obviously, but not only because I'm just
- 24:4517 and want to start working, but
- 24:47because of familial issues. My family is
- 24:49in a really tight spot right now. You
- 24:51see, my dad is a truck driver and while
- 24:53that job does pay a lot of money, that's
- 24:56only when you're really able to actually
- 24:58start doing it for a lot of time. And my
- 25:00dad's truck, not only is the fuel like
- 25:03$300 a day to fill up, but it keeps
- 25:06breaking down and we are sinking
- 25:08thousands, I think at least over $5,000
- 25:11we don't have into fixing this truck
- 25:14over and over so he can work. And all I
- 25:17ask is
- 25:18please basically like share this video.
- 25:21Not just like, don't just subscribe.
- 25:23Obviously, do that. But if you have a
- 25:24friend who you think would like this
- 25:26stuff, show them it. Because if I can
- 25:28make videos and work, I can provide a
- 25:32lot more to my family [music] and help
- 25:35out a lot more. Because obviously, if my
- 25:37father isn't working, that leaves only
- 25:39my mom who has to take care of me and my
- 25:42niece, mostly my niece and she can't
- 25:45work full-time and do that and I can't
- 25:47work full-time since I'm going to be
- 25:48going to college, so
- 25:50please, just
- 25:52show people this video. [music] Just
- 25:55help me get something out of this so
- 25:57that way it's worth the time, which I
- 26:00understand is a bit greedy, but I really
- 26:03have no other way than this as a hobby
- 26:06that could produce me more money to help
- 26:08out my family right now.
