- 0:20north of England it's a beautiful place
- 0:24and I love living there because the
- 0:25people are really
- 0:28friendly where do you live
- 0:31what's it like
- 0:33there I live in Remy in Italy and it's a
- 0:37beautiful in
- 0:39summer I live in Cordova which is a
- 0:42small City in the south of
- 0:44Spain I live in
- 0:47Hamburg which is in the north of Germany
- 0:50and it's very
- 0:53beautiful in this unit you will learn
- 0:56how to describe cities and compare them
- 0:59to each other
- 1:02Tokyo is bigger than
- 1:07Madrid Moscow is colder than
- 1:15Paris you'll also find out about one of
- 1:18the most amazing sites in the
- 1:21world Central Park in New
- 1:25York it's America's biggest and oldest
- 1:29City
- 1:33Park what do you think it's like to live
- 1:36at the top of a
- 1:38skyscraper I'm scared of heights so I
- 1:41wouldn't like it at
- 1:43all in reading and speaking you'll find
- 1:47out what life in the clouds is like and
- 1:50what some of the everyday problems
- 1:54are everyday English practices

- 1:59describe how to get from one place to
- 2:03another like

- 2:26along living in a big city can be a
- 2:30great
- 2:31experience some of the world's biggest
- 2:34cities like Beijing in
- 2:37China and Delhi in India are exciting
- 2:42places to live and to
- 2:45visit these cities have got huge
- 2:51populations many beautiful historic
- 2:55[Music]
- 2:58buildings
- 3:01and some interesting modern architecture
- 3:04too but like many big cities they are
- 3:08very
- 3:09crowded and they've got problems with
- 3:12traffic and
- 3:15pollution people didn't think about cars
- 3:18when they built
- 3:21them other cities like Copenhagen the
- 3:25capital city of
- 3:27Denmark and ockland on the north island
- 3:31of New Zealand are much
- 3:34smaller and they are famous for being
- 3:37great places to live with a very high
- 3:40quality of
- 3:43life these cities are clean and
- 3:47safe but they are also very
- 3:52expensive whether they are big or small
- 3:57cities can be amazing places to live and
- 4:02visit which kind of city do you
- 4:06[Music]
- 4:20prefer Paris the capital city of France
- 4:25is in the north of the country on the
- 4:28river Sen
- 4:30[Music]
- 4:34with a population of around 2.2 million
- 4:39Paris is the largest city in
- 4:42France it is also one of the most
- 4:45popular cities in the world for
- 4:50tourists around 22 million visitors come
- 4:54to the city every
- 4:56year the best time to visit Paris
- 5:00is in the
- 5:01summer the city can get very
- 5:05crowded but generally it isn't too
- 5:09hot the average summer temperature is
- 5:12only 25°
- 5:16C Paris is famous for its
- 5:19cafes its
- 5:21fashion and its amazing
- 5:25architecture and it's easy to see why
- 5:28people want to visit this beautiful and
- 5:31historic
- 5:34City this is the muse dors on the Left

- 5:49station today it is a very important art
- 5:54museum and it has sculptures and

- 6:11Paris it has got one of the most famous
- 6:14tall structures in the
- 6:17world the

- 6:31build and for over 40 years it was the
- 6:35tallest structure in the
- 6:38world today it's the busiest tourist
- 6:41attraction in the
- 6:43city with more than 7 million visitors
- 6:47every
- 6:49year you can climb to the top but there
- 6:53are
- 6:561,665
- 6:57stairs so most people take the
- 7:03lift and you can get the best views of
- 7:06this wonderful City from the

- 7:29United Arab Emirates is the city of
- 7:34Dubai it's the biggest city in the
- 7:39region and it's got a population of
- 7:42around 2.9
- 7:48Million the city is on the Dubai Creek

- 7:56residents and some of the3 million
- 7:59tourists who visit the city every
- 8:04year there are old parts of the
- 8:07city but today Dubai is most famous as a
- 8:12modern city full of
- 8:17skyscrapers there are already 18
- 8:20buildings over 300 M tall in the city
- 8:26center tourists come here to see the bur
- 8:29Al
- 8:31Arab the world's most luxurious
- 8:35Hotel it's got 202
- 8:39bedrooms and the most expensive room is
- 8:42over
- 8:44$24,000 a

- 8:47night Dubai is also famous for having
- 8:51one of the world's tallest
- 8:54structures the
- 8:56828 M tall Burge Khalifa
- 9:00it's got 21 floors and over
- 9:0524,000
- 9:08windows but in the summer it is far too
- 9:12hot to spend time
- 9:14Outdoors looking at the Fantastic modern
- 9:17architecture of
- 9:20Dubai the average temperature in July is
- 9:2444°
- 9:27C so the most popular attractions in the
- 9:30city are
- 9:32indoors where the temperature is much
- 9:37cooler and the biggest attraction of all
- 9:40is the Dubai
- 9:43Mall the Dubai Mall is one of the
- 9:46largest shopping centers in the
- 9:49world it has got over
- 9:521,200
- 9:54shops and
- 9:56750,000 people visit the mall every
- 9:59every

- 10:02week shops sell everything from
- 10:05expensive clothes and jewelry to
- 10:11electronics but there's also a lot to do
- 10:14and see for visitors who don't want to
- 10:19shop inside the mall are 22 Cinema
- 10:24screens a beautiful
- 10:28aquarium
- 10:31and even an olympic sized ice rink which
- 10:35is definitely the coolest place in this
- 10:38spectacular modern
