- 0:32>> Oh.
- 0:42Hi everyone. My name's James Arvin. How
- 0:44are you doing?
- 0:47>> [screaming]
- 0:49>> I don't understand what you're doing.
- 0:50>> [laughter]
- 0:50>> I don't know.
- 0:51>> Okay.
- 0:52>> It was a good start.
- 0:52>> Yeah, okay. So, what the hell are you
- 0:55doing here?
- 0:56What the hell is this? This is awesome.
- 0:58I haven't seen this before.
- 0:59>> Yeah.
- 1:00>> Uh
- 1:00>> [snorts]
- 1:01>> but but things have changed, haven't
- 1:02they?
- 1:02>> They have. Um the good people at
- 1:05HeadRush, part of the InMusic Group,
- 1:07have reached out and we're quite excited
- 1:11about
- 1:12a thing we don't normally get too
- 1:14excited about. This is the latest
- 1:16firmware update, firmware 5.1
- 1:19for the HeadRush Core and the rest of
- 1:22the HeadRush family.
- 1:24This is cool.
- 1:25>> Can I just say
- 1:26>> Yeah.
- 1:27>> HeadRush
- 1:28>> Yeah.
- 1:28>> are constantly updating their stuff.
- 1:30>> Mhm.
- 1:31>> While so many other companies, not
- 1:33naming anyone
- 1:35>> But you just did.
- 1:37>> No, I haven't. I haven't named anyone.
- 1:38But but but you know, so many other
- 1:39companies seem to neglect updates, but
- 1:41HeadRush constantly update, which is
- 1:44kudos to HeadRush.
- 1:46>> Indeed.
- 1:47>> Brilliant.
- 1:47>> Um I have a
- 1:49more than a soft spot for HeadRush
- 1:50because obviously it comes off the back
- 1:52of um 11 Rack technology and all that
- 1:54sort of stuff. Um but
- 1:57to say this is like an old 11 rack is
- 1:59just chalk and cheese.
- 2:00>> yeah.
- 2:02>> There's no easy way of saying this.
- 2:04Um, I thought HeadRush cloning
- 2:07technology was good.
- 2:08>> Mhm.
- 2:09>> But they are now embracing all things
- 2:12NAM, both A1
- 2:14>> Mhm.
- 2:14>> and A2. Do you want to show the good
- 2:16people? Um, yes, indeed. Let me put this
- 2:19back onto our rig and you can see that
- 2:21this is one of the captures, one of the
- 2:24presets, if you like, featuring
- 2:27technology that will be shipping as part
- 2:29of the new
- 2:31firmware update.
- 2:32>> Let you play with it.
- 2:33>> Indeed. [music]
- 2:38>> [music]
- 2:44[music]
- 2:52[music]
- 2:58[music]
- 2:58>> NAM is great, isn't it?
- 2:59>> NAM is really good. This is
- 3:02our Cornford TSR 20
- 3:05>> Oh.
- 3:06>> captured forever and eternity on the new
- 3:10HeadRush.
- 3:10>> Good amp. Is that still available, then?
- 3:12>> Certainly is still available. Who Who
- 3:14knew?
- 3:14>> I need to get one.
- 3:17>> Um,
- 3:19that's the big deal. There are loads of
- 3:20other things which we will talk about,
- 3:22but NAM is the big deal for this update.
- 3:25And
- 3:27>> [snorts]
- 3:27>> along with NAM support, both A1 and A2,
- 3:32and obviously we all know that A2 is the
- 3:34new super duper all singing, all dancing
- 3:36version of the NAM platform.
- 3:38>> Yeah.
- 3:38>> What you can now do is access not only
- 3:42the HeadRush Cloud, which is cool, and
- 3:45you can see that if I go into my
- 3:48content, you can see here some patches
- 3:50that I've built for
- 3:53HeadRush, which will be available for
- 3:55free on the HeadRush Cloud. Free for
- 3:58free. But, you can also get into Tone
- 4:013000
- 4:03directly from the unit.
- 4:05>> That's really clever, isn't it?
- 4:06>> Now, you will see here a whole load of
- 4:09Tone 3000 NAM captures, and these are
- 4:13our paid-for platform. Obviously, I can
- 4:15get into it because I have access to our
- 4:17back end.
- 4:17>> Oh, right.
- 4:18>> And you can as well. But, the good
- 4:20people out there can't be. Once you have
- 4:22a Tone 3000 account,
- 4:23>> Yeah.
- 4:24>> either to create your own captures
- 4:27or to buy other people's, you'll be able
- 4:28to access them from within the HeadRush
- 4:32ecosystem.
- 4:32>> Oh, awesome.
- 4:33>> So, if I want to, I can load up our uh
- 4:37Matchless or the Cornell
- 4:40>> Give me something Give me something
- 4:40dirty.
- 4:41>> And I go to NAM.
- 4:43>> Mhm.
- 4:44>> I can then scroll through our available
- 4:47models, and here they are. So, what
- 4:49would you like?
- 4:50>> Give me something Give me something
- 4:51filthy.
- 4:52>> Ooh, filthy. Let's go that one and load
- 4:56it.
- 5:00>> [music]
- 5:05[music]
- 5:10>> Nasty enough for you?
- 5:11>> Yes, nice.
- 5:12>> That's the Diesel.
- 5:14>> Oh, nice.
- 5:15>> Yeah.
- 5:15>> Yeah, sounds good.
- 5:16>> And it's really good. Really really fast
- 5:20for patch changes. You don't get any of
- 5:22that kind of
- 5:23thing, the gear change thing. Really
- 5:25really nice. And
- 5:28it's just brilliant. You still have
- 5:31access to all of the HeadRush amps.
- 5:35>> Right.
- 5:36>> You can still change back to the normal
- 5:38ones. I've got my HeadRush amps either
- 5:39in HeadRush or Revalver format.
- 5:42>> Mhm.
- 5:43>> I can still go into my clones. I've got
- 5:44my amp clones in conventional HeadRush
- 5:46format, and the old clones and super
- 5:48clones format.
- 5:49>> Oh. And of course, I can now load in
- 5:52NAM models. Now, at the moment, you can
- 5:55only add one NAM block per patch.
- 6:00The theory being, much like you would
- 6:02with scenes, where you'd swap between
- 6:04two blocks within
- 6:06>> Right.
- 6:06>> a patch, to be able to change
- 6:08instantaneously. But to be honest, I
- 6:11haven't found enough of a problem with
- 6:13the the jump between patches to really
- 6:16warrant it.
- 6:17>> So, that's an at moment thing.
- 6:18>> I have heard from the HeadRush grapevine
- 6:21that that is something they're looking
- 6:22into. I won't say working on, but
- 6:24looking into.
- 6:25But you can have a conventional amp
- 6:30block Yeah. and a NAM block and switch
- 6:32between them.
- 6:33>> Oh.
- 6:33>> And you can have a clone block and a NAM
- 6:37block and switch between them.
- 6:39>> We'll talk about the prices of the
- 6:41HeadRush a little bit later on.
- 6:42>> Yeah.
- 6:43>> But yeah, yeah, what else is new?
- 6:44>> So,
- 6:45um there are a whole load of updates
- 6:48with regard to routing and patching.
- 6:51Um
- 6:52I tend to think in a very
- 6:54straightforward kind of linear fashion,
- 6:56so I kind of have my compressor block,
- 6:58followed by preamp block, followed by
- 7:01amp, followed by speaker, followed by
- 7:02some modulation,
- 7:04delay, and reverb.
- 7:04>> But if you want to do parallel stuff,
- 7:05you can do all that sort of stuff.
- 7:07>> Absolutely.
- 7:07>> And you can now do that on here by
- 7:09hitting that button there, and I can
- 7:11route between a whole load of different
- 7:14preset formats.
- 7:16>> Oh, awesome.
- 7:17>> Which is really cool.
- 7:17>> Yeah, yeah, it's really good.
- 7:18>> Um you couldn't do that before, and it
- 7:19wasn't so powerful before. You can now
- 7:22have
- 7:23separate amps on separate chains, if you
- 7:25want. All the kind of stuff you can do
- 7:27with
- 7:28other
- 7:29simulation platforms.
- 7:33>> [music]
- 7:45[music]
- 7:52[music]
- 7:58[music]
- 8:02>> There's a new
- 8:04JCM 900 style amp block called the 90
- 8:08Michael ACM 900. Catchy title.
- 8:11Uh however, it's not installed as part
- 8:13of the Russian I've got. I must have a
- 8:15an older version of the install.
- 8:17>> But but that'll be available with the
- 8:19update. That's cool.
- 8:20>> Um
- 8:21>> There's some more kind of effects pedals
- 8:24and stuff. There's a new bass graphic,
- 8:26which I really like. They've also
- 8:28tweaked some of the existing stuff. So,
- 8:32dynamics
- 8:33compressor 3 or Dyna Compressor 3 has
- 8:35been updated. The gray compressor has
- 8:37been updated, which is really nice. The
- 8:39BB delay, which is one of my favorites,
- 8:42has been given a kind of a mod
- 8:44to make it a bit more
- 8:47bit more feedback, bit more um clarity.
- 8:50Really really nice. I use that a lot for
- 8:52kind of my Gilmore-esque patches.
- 8:55>> [music]
- 9:00[music]
- 9:07[music]
- 9:13[music]
- 9:19[music]
- 9:23>> HeadRush love a quality of life update.
- 9:26This is one of my favorite things. If I
- 9:28go up there,
- 9:29we now have a built-in clock.
- 9:31>> Oh, that's great. So, so you can
- 9:32basically have it next to your bed.
- 9:34>> Yeah.
- 9:34>> Yeah? That'd That'd great. That
- 9:35>> Also a timer.
- 9:37>> Now, I do the I do get the clock. I do
- 9:39get the clock because you know, if if
- 9:41you've got to finish a set by a certain
- 9:42time.
- 9:43>> Or if you're trying to hit midnight for
- 9:45New Year's Eve.
- 9:46>> Hey, even better. [laughter]
- 9:48>> Um and you can still access all the
- 9:50normal stuff. You still access to
- 9:51pedals, but you know, you've got
- 9:54It's actually quite I think it's really
- 9:55useful feature.
- 9:56>> a useful feature, yeah.
- 9:57>> Um there's also some other updates to
- 10:00the drum machine, which we kind of
- 10:02um elaborated towards earlier.
- 10:05I I always thought a drum machine was a
- 10:07bit of a Really, a drum machine? But
- 10:09some people, as we found in the previous
- 10:11comments, love a drum machine.
- 10:13>> And actually, this I think I don't think
- 10:15this sounds too bad. I mean, you know,
- 10:17if you're if you're sort of want wanting
- 10:19to do some practice and you want some
- 10:22some drums. And also, the swing on that
- 10:24was quite nice, wasn't it? The swing
- 10:25that we demonstrated in the beginning.
- 10:26It's good.
- 10:30>> [music]
- 10:39[music]
- 10:50[music]
- 10:56[music]
- 10:59>> You can also now control the drum
- 11:01machine from the external editor.
- 11:04So, if you've got your iPad on your mic
- 11:06stand, for example,
- 11:07>> Great.
- 11:07>> you can now control the drum machine,
- 11:09which is really handy. Because
- 11:12I'll be fair, it's a bit of a faff going
- 11:15in having to go back to the second page
- 11:18to restart or stop the drum machine.
- 11:21>> Oh, that's really handy. So, you know,
- 11:23if you've got your iPad on your mic
- 11:25stand on stage and you're using the drum
- 11:27machine for That's fantastic, yeah.
- 11:29>> Really, really cool. Um there's other
- 11:31little things you can do with the tuner,
- 11:32the now the tuner volume can be set to
- 11:35zero and still work as a tuner. There's
- 11:37some
- 11:38>> Okay.
- 11:38>> clearly some kind of tweaking and
- 11:42>> There are public requests probably
- 11:44because that's what it was originally,
- 11:45yeah.
- 11:45>> Okay. [clears throat]
- 11:46>> But
- 11:47I think the main thing about this is the
- 11:50NAM
- 11:51integration and they've done it really
- 11:54well.
- 11:55Um, the touch screen
- 11:57once you get your head round select with
- 11:59one, double tap to enter it's pretty
- 12:02straightforward. So, if I go into it yet
- 12:03another one of our amazing NAM captures,
- 12:06let's go for the
- 12:09uh, it's the diesel. Let's do the SP 77
- 12:12as I SAID BEFORE.
- 12:15>> [music]
- 12:21[music]
- 12:28[music]
- 12:38[music]
- 12:45[music]
- 12:48>> THAT UNIT
- 12:49>> IT'S SO GOOD, THAT SP 77.
- 12:51>> um,
- 12:52yeah, I mean
- 12:55the big news is NAM. Um, um, why
- 12:57shouldn't it be? That'll be enough for
- 12:58an update for me, if I'm honest.
- 12:59>> Yeah. Pretty good.
- 13:00>> The new update
- 13:02>> Yeah.
- 13:02>> works on all three of the latest
- 13:06versions of Head Rush. That's the Flex,
- 13:07Prime, the baby one, the Core and the
- 13:12Prime.
- 13:13>> The big the big one.
- 13:14>> one.
- 13:14>> Yeah.
- 13:14>> Which has got the continuous controller
- 13:16and all that sort of stuff. Two rows of
- 13:17pedals and all that sort of stuff.
- 13:18>> Um
- 13:20access point, uh, the Flex Prime
- 13:23which is the baby one, which gives you
- 13:25three buttons and a controller.
- 13:27>> Mhm.
- 13:29>> 439
- 13:31That's the current price in the UK in
- 13:33pounds from our friends at Andertons.
- 13:36>> Awesome.
- 13:39>> I genuinely, I mean, we've looked
- 13:41recently at
- 13:43um that little Sonic cake box.
- 13:45>> Yeah.
- 13:46>> Which was great for not much money.
- 13:48>> Yeah.
- 13:48>> But it's a different different
- 13:49>> I'd much rather take this out on the
- 13:51road and there's an awful lot more going
- 13:53on inside here and it's you know, as you
- 13:55said, HeadRush are continuously
- 13:58updating their platform.
- 14:01>> Well done, HeadRush.
- 14:02>> Great work. And
- 14:04So, I'm always surprised when you say,
- 14:08"That sounds great."
- 14:09>> Mhm.
- 14:09>> And and we we joke so often that I we
- 14:13argue about so many things tonally,
- 14:15sonically, all that sort of thing, but
- 14:16actually
- 14:17they've nailed it.
- 14:18>> They've nailed it. It's good. Really
- 14:20good unit, especially for the price. So,
- 14:22we'll leave all the details for the
- 14:24HeadRush and the new update in the notes
- 14:26below. If you want to go and check it
- 14:27out. Really hope you guys got something
- 14:29out of this. If you did get something

- 14:35I'm Paul.
- 14:35>> I'm James.
- 14:36>> And we'll see you next time.
