  1. 0:11Grace and peace, beloved brothers. The
  2. 0:15time for the famous, or increasingly
  3. 0:17famous, celebration of Halloween is
  4. 0:19arriving in many countries around the
  5. 0:22world. And with the celebration of
  6. 0:42Halloween, there is no lack of debates
  7. 0:43among believers regarding this topic.
  8. 0:47Despite that, I think the debate
  9. 0:49regarding the Halloween topic is
  10. 0:51smaller than the debate regarding the
  11. 0:53Christmas topic. Why? Because I get the
  12. 0:57feeling—this is a personal perception
  13. 1:00and I don't know what you think—but I
  14. 1:02get the feeling that with the topic of
  15. 1:04Christmas there is more division
  16. 1:06regarding the celebration or
  17. 1:08non-celebration of Christmas, but that
  18. 1:11regarding Halloween there is not as
  19. 1:13much division. I believe that if
  20. 1:17statistics were taken, the percentage
  21. 1:20of people reluctant to celebrate
  22. 1:22Halloween, who reject the celebration
  23. 1:25of Halloween, is significantly higher
  24. 1:27than the percentage of people who are
  25. 1:30in favor of being able to participate
  26. 1:33in a fun way, let's put it that way.
  27. 1:37But why have I wanted to make this
  28. 1:39video? I have never hidden my stance on
  29. 1:43Halloween. What’s more, I don't
  30. 1:45usually hide my thoughts on any subject
  31. 1:48. I have even touched on delicate
  32. 1:50topics. We recently talked about topics
  33. 1:52that were, well, controversial: at a
  34. 1:54political level, a social level,
  35. 1:56regarding immigration, the legalization
  36. 1:59of weapons, and things like that, where
  37. 2:01we have gotten into some matters that
  38. 2:03have generated, well, disputes and
  39. 2:06disagreements. But I believe that
  40. 2:09dialogue is always a good thing,
  41. 2:11because when there is dialogue and at
  42. 2:13the same time there is humility to
  43. 2:16listen, to try to understand another
  44. 2:18person's stance...When humility is
  45. 2:20present and love is present, dialogue
  46. 2:23can result in something very edifying.
  47. 2:27If we remove humility and remove love,
  48. 2:29obviously we are not going to have a
  49. 2:31dialogue; we are going to have an
  50. 2:33argument of imposing our thoughts and
  51. 2:35ideas. And I believe that intellectual
  52. 2:39pride, spiritual arrogance, can
  53. 2:40manifest in many ways. Why do I say
  54. 2:44this? Recently, a person accused me of
  55. 2:48being a Pharisee for explaining why I
  56. 2:51personally advise abstaining from the
  57. 2:53celebration of Halloween. I have to say
  58. 2:56something: I have never told anyone
  59. 2:59what they have to do. In other words, I
  60. 3:01have not imposed a law on that. People
  61. 3:04simply ask me, and they have to
  62. 3:05understand that. Well, because I serve
  63. 3:09as a pastor in a church, or because
  64. 3:11I’ve been professing my Christian
  65. 3:12faith for many years, or because people
  66. 3:15know me and see that I’m, well, very
  67. 3:17detached from many of these
  68. 3:18celebrations like Carnival or Halloween
  69. 3:20, people end up asking me: "Hey, Juan
  70. 3:23Manuel, do you celebrate it or not?" Or
  71. 3:25how do you see it? Or what do you think
  72. 3:27? Or if you...The other day, a person
  73. 3:30was like that, a person who told me: "
  74. 3:32Look, my kids are in school, they’re
  75. 3:34going to have Halloween, they’re
  76. 3:35going to dress them up, they’re going
  77. 3:37to go out on the city streets, well,
  78. 3:39trick-or-treating, uh, for candy and
  79. 3:41such, and they have to dress up, well,
  80. 3:42in typical Halloween things, right?"
  81. 3:46Ghosts, dead people, vampires, Dracula,
  82. 3:48zombies, things like that. And they
  83. 3:51asked me, uh, what would you tell me?
  84. 3:53What do you recommend? They were new in
  85. 3:56the faith, a person relatively new to
  86. 3:58the ways of the Lord and, well, they
  87. 4:00asked for my personal opinion, and I
  88. 4:02was happy to give it to them. And I
  89. 4:05didn’t give it to them like: "Look, I
  90. 4:07recommend you don’t participate," but
  91. 4:09I started the sentence by saying: "Look
  92. 4:11, I don’t participate in that
  93. 4:13celebration and personally, that
  94. 4:14celebration makes me quite
  95. 4:16uncomfortable for several reasons, and
  96. 4:18if I could give you advice, it would be
  97. 4:20that neither you nor your children
  98. 4:22participate." And then I gave them the
  99. 4:25explanation, but it all started with my
  100. 4:27opinion is this, this is my thinking,
  101. 4:29and I gave them my arguments. This led
  102. 4:32someone to say, "Don't you think it's
  103. 4:34very Pharisaical to tell someone not to
  104. 4:36celebrate Halloween when it's just
  105. 4:37something childish? The kids aren't
  106. 4:40going to perform a satanic ritual. The
  107. 4:42kids are just going to dress up and eat
  108. 4:44candy. The kids aren't even thinking
  109. 4:48about the spiritual, nor thinking about
  110. 4:50Satanism, nor thinking about dark,
  111. 4:52occult rituals. The kids just go out to
  112. 4:55play and I don't think there's any
  113. 4:56problem. So, what bothered me was that
  114. 5:00it was quickly labeled as Pharisaism.
  115. 5:03That is to say, I...I haven't imposed
  116. 5:04anything on the lady. The lady came,
  117. 5:07asked for my opinion, and I gave her my
  118. 5:08opinion, and in the end, the lady said,
  119. 5:09" Oh, okay, well, I’d better not do
  120. 5:11it. "It was her decision. Ah, but you
  121. 5:14influenced her. Well, if she had asked
  122. 5:16you, from what I can see, you would
  123. 5:18have influenced her to think it’s
  124. 5:20fine. Meaning, I understand that, based
  125. 5:23on what you’re telling me, your
  126. 5:25children are going to dress up as a
  127. 5:27vampire, or a zombie, or Dracula, or
  128. 5:28whatever, or a skeleton, and your kids
  129. 5:30are going to go out. I mean, if she had
  130. 5:34asked you, you probably would have told
  131. 5:35her," There’s no problem. We have our
  132. 5:37Christian liberty. Eh, I don’t see
  133. 5:40anything wrong with it, my conscience
  134. 5:41doesn't accuse me. It’s just a game
  135. 5:43for the kids. Nobody here is performing
  136. 5:45dark rituals at home; in the end,
  137. 5:47it’s just decorations we put up and
  138. 5:49such. "And surely, if she had asked you
  139. 5:51, well, the lady would have gone on to
  140. 5:54dress up her child. In the end, our
  141. 5:56opinions can indeed influence some
  142. 5:59people, and that is why we must be more
  143. 6:02careful when saying" God says "versus
  144. 6:04when we say" I think. "And regarding
  145. 6:07Halloween, I have my own thoughts and
  146. 6:09my conscience is clear on that subject,
  147. 6:11but I don’t believe that makes me a
  148. 6:13Pharisee. That is why I believe that
  149. 6:16today we are using the word" Pharisee "
  150. 6:18too lightly. And you know, it’s
  151. 6:20curious that in the name of Christian
  152. 6:21liberty—and now I’m going to get
  153. 6:23into the Halloween topic because I want
  154. 6:25to explain to you why I am very
  155. 6:27reluctant. And I will give you my
  156. 6:28opinion. You can post whatever you want
  157. 6:30down below and leave any comment you
  158. 6:32like, whatever you feel like, but I am
  159. 6:34going to give you my opinion on why I
  160. 6:36abstain. I’m not interfering in your
  161. 6:38home or your life, either. Dress your
  162. 6:40child up as the living dead, take them
  163. 6:42out to the street as whatever you want
  164. 6:43for your child, even if you want them
  165. 6:45to celebrate Carnival, if for you
  166. 6:46it’s just innocent fun and that’s
  167. 6:47it. They are your children, it’s your
  168. 6:50decision. And I believe that for our
  169. 6:52lives and what we do in our home, our
  170. 6:54household, our children, all of that,
  171. 6:57we will each give an account for our
  172. 6:59own decisions and that’s that. And I
  173. 7:01will give an account for mine, and you
  174. 7:03will give an account for yours. But
  175. 7:05what I have noticed is that in the name
  176. 7:07of Christian liberty and in the name of
  177. 7:09grace, everything is labeled as
  178. 7:11legalism. Now everything, everything,
  179. 7:13absolutely everything. And it’s very
  180. 7:16interesting because sometimes there are
  181. 7:18people who are typically Reformed, and
  182. 7:20the thing that makes me curious about
  183. 7:23us Reformed folk is that we like to
  184. 7:25read a lot just for the theoretical
  185. 7:27part. What do I mean by this? Sometimes
  186. 7:31, when you look back at the Reformation
  187. 7:33, when you look back at the beginnings,
  188. 7:36when you continue with your reading and
  189. 7:38studies, you go to the Puritans; but
  190. 7:40you shouldn't just stay in theory,
  191. 7:42because those people also had an idea
  192. 7:44of holiness, of consecration, of
  193. 7:46separating themselves, of abstaining
  194. 7:48from certain things that could be a
  195. 7:50stumbling block—not that they were
  196. 7:52sinful in themselves, but that they
  197. 7:54could even be a stumbling block that
  198. 7:57leads to sin, or even a stumbling block
  199. 8:00to others. Today, in the name of
  200. 8:03Christian liberty, I also have to say
  201. 8:05one thing: many people are accused of
  202. 8:07pharisaism, many people. And there is
  203. 8:11an interesting thing when we read the
  204. 8:13Bible, and you can go to the scriptures
  205. 8:15if you want, when we read the Bible we
  206. 8:17encounter a moment where Paul is
  207. 8:19dealing with differences in thought and
  208. 8:21conscience on some issues, for example,
  209. 8:23the topic of food. Paul says," Look,
  210. 8:26this person abstains and does so for
  211. 8:28the glory of God. Their conscience
  212. 8:30tells them that this will not please
  213. 8:31God, and they decide to abstain. "And
  214. 8:33this person feels comfortable eating
  215. 8:35this and does not believe that it
  216. 8:36interferes with their relationship with
  217. 8:38God. Now, Paul says that the person who
  218. 8:41abstains should not look at the one who
  219. 8:43eats and say," Oh, you are less of a
  220. 8:45believer than I am. "That is true. But
  221. 8:49on the other hand, Paul also calls the
  222. 8:51attention of the one who eats as if to
  223. 8:52say," Don't look at the other and say,
  224. 8:54'What a fool with a weak conscience,
  225. 8:55useless, someone who doesn't live out
  226. 8:57grace and freedom.' "So, Paul's rebuke
  227. 9:01goes in both directions, because some
  228. 9:03may look down on others, considering
  229. 9:05them less spiritual because they don't
  230. 9:08abstain from certain things. But other
  231. 9:12people can also look down on others
  232. 9:14because they do abstain, and they
  233. 9:16shouldn't do that. In the end, contempt
  234. 9:20can be in everyone's heart, and then
  235. 9:23both would be sinning because, in some
  236. 9:25way, both would be looking down on
  237. 9:27their brothers over a secondary matter.
  238. 9:31Therefore, I think there is also much
  239. 9:33sin today in the hearts of some in the
  240. 9:34name of Christian liberty, because they
  241. 9:36also believe they possess intellectual
  242. 9:38superiority, moral superiority, and
  243. 9:39spiritual superiority. They say," These
  244. 9:43people think they are spiritually
  245. 9:45superior because they think they are
  246. 9:47holier since they abstain. "But we
  247. 9:50could say that you think you are
  248. 9:52spiritually superior because you don't
  249. 9:54abstain, because you are free, you have
  250. 9:56an open mind, you have understood all
  251. 9:57things, and therefore, since you have
  252. 9:59understood all things, you are not weak
  253. 10:01in conscience like the rest. So both
  254. 10:05can fall into moral superiority,
  255. 10:07spiritual superiority, or ethical
  256. 10:09superiority. It can happen to both, it
  257. 10:12can happen in both directions. So the
  258. 10:14problem is in the heart, and that is
  259. 10:16the first thing I have to say. Now,
  260. 10:19having mentioned the subject of
  261. 10:21Pharisaism and these two directions in
  262. 10:24which we can fall into spiritual or
  263. 10:26intellectual pride, now I am basically
  264. 10:28going to tell you, I will not go into
  265. 10:31the history. There are very good videos
  266. 10:34about this, eh. That is why there are
  267. 10:36very good videos on the networks about
  268. 10:38the history of Halloween, what it
  269. 10:40implies, its beginnings, its meaning,
  270. 10:43and all that, but I am going to tell
  271. 10:45you in a synthesized, simple way, the
  272. 10:47reasons that lead me to say:" I do not
  273. 10:49want Halloween in my home or in my life
  274. 10:51. "This is something personal, but we
  275. 10:54have this very clear at a family level.
  276. 10:56In the first place, the origin, the
  277. 10:59origin of Halloween itself. I mean,
  278. 11:01when one looks at it, and as I tell you
  279. 11:03, there are very good videos on the
  280. 11:05internet about this, the origin of
  281. 11:06Halloween has to do with paganism, it
  282. 11:08has to do with occultism. Later it
  283. 11:12started to be linked to Satanism, but
  284. 11:14in itself, Halloween has a lot to do
  285. 11:17with druids, pagan traditions, the
  286. 11:19origin, we are talking about the origin
  287. 11:21, its meaning. They celebrated what was
  288. 11:26known as Samhain. You can look it up if
  289. 11:28you want information about that
  290. 11:30celebration. Everything linked to what
  291. 11:33has now become a game was something
  292. 11:35very perverse. For example, the druids
  293. 11:39would go around asking, obviously for
  294. 11:41offerings, for donations for them.
  295. 11:45Sometimes it is stipulated that they
  296. 11:47also asked for children or asked for
  297. 11:49things for sacrifices, but they also
  298. 11:51asked for offerings, they asked for
  299. 11:53things to be given to them. And the
  300. 11:56houses that refused to give that to the
  301. 11:58druids, the houses that refused to give
  302. 12:00them what they asked for, they received
  303. 12:02a punishment, a curse, something would
  304. 12:04come against them. So, the origin of
  305. 12:07Halloween linked to the Celtic people,
  306. 12:11the pagan people, to occultism, is a
  307. 12:14very dark origin. It is an origin that
  308. 12:17has to do with darkness. And when I
  309. 12:20look at the scripture, we are called on
  310. 12:21more than one occasion to not have any
  311. 12:23kind of link with the works of darkness
  312. 12:25. And I don't think that just centers
  313. 12:29on issues of immorality, drunkenness,
  314. 12:32but also on issues of witchcraft,
  315. 12:34occultism, mediums. So, in the same way
  316. 12:39that I as a believer don't want to know
  317. 12:42anything about tarot, mediums,
  318. 12:44sorcerers, santeros, witches, occultism
  319. 12:46, and everything that has to do with
  320. 12:48practices that God clearly condemns in
  321. 12:51the scriptures. So, I don't feel
  322. 12:55comfortable knowing that I have enough
  323. 12:57biblical references to not participate
  324. 12:59in the works of darkness, but on the
  325. 13:01contrary, to expose them. I have enough
  326. 13:06foundation in my heart to know that the
  327. 13:09origin is totally occult, totally dark,
  328. 13:12totally perverse, totally, uh,
  329. 13:15diabolical. And I believe that as a
  330. 13:20believer now, I should not have any
  331. 13:22kind of bond, not even friendly,
  332. 13:24playful, in any format or game, with a
  333. 13:27celebration that from its origin and to
  334. 13:30the present is linked to something
  335. 13:32related to darkness. I am rather called
  336. 13:37to expose the works of darkness and not
  337. 13:39to participate in them. And throughout
  338. 13:42the Old Testament I see references.
  339. 13:45When the people of God began to mingle
  340. 13:48with other nations, the people of God
  341. 13:50fell into an error, and it was the
  342. 13:52error of embracing pagan customs. On
  343. 13:55some occasions, on various occasions,
  344. 13:57God calls his people's attention
  345. 13:59because of that. He says," Look, do not
  346. 14:02mix with the customs of those lands.
  347. 14:04You will end up worshipping their gods,
  348. 14:07you will end up doing evil. "But the
  349. 14:10people had a tendency to reach those
  350. 14:13towns and start socializing to the
  351. 14:15point of adapting cultures and forming
  352. 14:18mixed cultures; that is, cultures where
  353. 14:21they maintained some traditions brought
  354. 14:24from the people of God, but also began
  355. 14:27to mix with traditions of these pagan
  356. 14:30peoples and nations, and there began to
  357. 14:34be that mix of paganism and religious
  358. 14:36ritualism. Everything was wrapped up.
  359. 14:41So much so that many times God calls
  360. 14:43the people's attention because they did
  361. 14:45things God asked, they performed
  362. 14:46religious rituals, religious cults
  363. 14:48according to what God had established,
  364. 14:50but at the same time they did things
  365. 14:52that had to do with paganism, false
  366. 14:54deities. So, when I look at the Bible,
  367. 14:58for me there is a warning of be careful
  368. 15:00, be careful. This is not just food,
  369. 15:04drink, this is not just clothes, this
  370. 15:06is about customs, it is about
  371. 15:08traditions, values, principles,
  372. 15:10religion, spirituality. So it is like
  373. 15:13in some way I feel, and that is how I
  374. 15:15apply it to my life, that throughout
  375. 15:17history I see a call from God to be
  376. 15:19careful. I mean, you are in Spain, fine
  377. 15:22. I mean, there's potato omelet, eat it
  378. 15:24. There's there's shrimp, eat it.
  379. 15:27There's paella, eat it. There are
  380. 15:29certain cultural things that don't
  381. 15:31affect your communion with God at all.
  382. 15:33There's nothing wrong with that, but be
  383. 15:35careful, be careful because in every
  384. 15:38country, in every culture, there are
  385. 15:40certain customs and traditions that God
  386. 15:42does not call good, that God calls evil
  387. 15:44. And be careful about starting to
  388. 15:47socialize to the point of embracing the
  389. 15:50worldly, embracing the sinful,
  390. 15:51embracing the dark, the things of
  391. 15:53darkness, the occult. So, in the first
  392. 15:57place, for me, the origin of Halloween
  393. 16:00and everything it involves, which also
  394. 16:02transmits, even if we disguise it as a
  395. 16:04game, death and spirituality. So, in
  396. 16:07that sense, I prefer to disassociate
  397. 16:09myself. Secondly, secondly, there is
  398. 16:12also something that I think regarding
  399. 16:14Halloween, that it's not just about the
  400. 16:15origin. And this is another thing that
  401. 16:18worries me. In the past, I like to give
  402. 16:21things a lot of thought when making
  403. 16:23decisions. I don't like to just not
  404. 16:26celebrate Halloween and that's it. No,
  405. 16:29I like to be clear about the why so I
  406. 16:31can have a formed conscience and so
  407. 16:32that when people around me want to
  408. 16:34convince me otherwise, I can say," Look
  409. 16:36, this is what I believe for this, this
  410. 16:37, this, and this. "And well, you have
  411. 16:40your decision, I have mine. But when we
  412. 16:43have a very superficial decision, it
  413. 16:45will sway from one side to the other.
  414. 16:47But when we have a decision based on
  415. 16:49what we have searched for, read, and
  416. 16:51been personally convinced of, then
  417. 16:53that's it, our conscience will remain
  418. 16:55firmer. So, regarding Halloween, I
  419. 16:58heard many people say," Well, that was
  420. 17:00the origin, but it's not now. ""
  421. 17:03However, if you start searching,
  422. 17:05investigating, and reading, you will
  423. 17:07find that occultist, satanic groups,
  424. 17:10linked to the darkness...Because let's
  425. 17:13remember something: we worship in the
  426. 17:15light, but the darkness has its own
  427. 17:18cults, the darkness has its own
  428. 17:20religious practices, the darkness, to
  429. 17:22put it one way, has its own religion.
  430. 17:27And there is a reality that the time of
  431. 17:30Halloween continues to be, to this day,
  432. 17:34special days for occult religions, for
  433. 17:37occultism, satanism, for all those
  434. 17:40groups. The topic of Halloween has a
  435. 17:44lot to do with witches, with sorcerers,
  436. 17:47with dark groups. The day of Halloween
  437. 17:51is not just something from the past.
  438. 17:53The day of Halloween is still important
  439. 17:54to them to the present. And while yes,
  440. 17:58while there is a society that sees it
  441. 18:00as a game, costumes, uh, sweets and
  442. 18:02treats, there is a reality, and that is
  443. 18:05that there is a part of society today
  444. 18:07that still understands the spiritual
  445. 18:09meaning of Halloween, what Halloween
  446. 18:11represents, what these dates represent
  447. 18:14to them. And if you study and read, you
  448. 18:18will see that there are true atrocities
  449. 18:20that have to do with Halloween, true
  450. 18:22horrible aberrations. So, it is no
  451. 18:27longer just because of its origin, but
  452. 18:30because to this day Halloween is a
  453. 18:32celebration that continues to signify
  454. 18:35things that God calls evil and that
  455. 18:37remains linked to dark, pagan, and
  456. 18:40satanic cults. And that is another
  457. 18:43reason why I also prefer to abstain. On
  458. 18:46the other hand, I believe that when we
  459. 18:49—and this is personal—when we
  460. 18:51participate in it, we are downplaying
  461. 18:54the evil that it represents. When I
  462. 18:58teach my children or teach people that
  463. 19:00Halloween is just costumes and a game,
  464. 19:02that it is only that, it seems to me
  465. 19:04that I am telling them that the
  466. 19:06spiritual side does not exist. I want
  467. 19:11—and I speak personally—I would
  468. 19:13like the little ones, the children, the
  469. 19:15youngest ones, our kids, to understand
  470. 19:17that there is a spiritual reality. I
  471. 19:21want children to understand that angels
  472. 19:23exist, but that demons also exist. I
  473. 19:27want children to understand that God
  474. 19:29exists, that Christ Jesus, our Lord,
  475. 19:32exists, but also that Satan exists. I
  476. 19:35want children to understand that there
  477. 19:37is a spiritual battle, that our
  478. 19:39struggle is not against flesh and blood
  479. 19:41, but against principalities, powers,
  480. 19:43and spiritual hosts of wickedness in
  481. 19:44the heavenly places. I do not want
  482. 19:48children to see only this world and see
  483. 19:51only games, fun, and a correct morality
  484. 19:54based on Christian commandments. I want
  485. 19:57them to understand that there is a
  486. 20:00spiritual reality and that this
  487. 20:02spiritual reality is just that, it is a
  488. 20:04reality, and that for the most part,
  489. 20:07for us Christians, that spiritual
  490. 20:09reality is present. It is present that
  491. 20:12Satan walks about like a roaring lion
  492. 20:14seeking whom he may devour. That we
  493. 20:16must stand firm, dressed in the armor
  494. 20:18of God, to resist the wiles of the
  495. 20:20devil. That we have to be well-prepared
  496. 20:24for the battle, for when Satan, when
  497. 20:26the enemy throws his flaming darts,
  498. 20:28that we have to understand that there
  499. 20:30is a reality, that there is a spiritual
  500. 20:33world. And I do not want children to
  501. 20:37start seeing all of that as a joke, to
  502. 20:40start seeing death as a joke, demons as
  503. 20:42a joke, witches as a joke. the
  504. 20:46spiritual as a joke. Because if you
  505. 20:50watch Halloween movies, there are
  506. 20:52usually two types, right? There are
  507. 20:55some movies that are horror. Look at
  508. 20:57what Halloween is linked to. Look how
  509. 20:59interesting, because when Christmas
  510. 21:00arrives, usually the Christmas movies,
  511. 21:02what are they about? They are
  512. 21:03family-oriented, they are innocent,
  513. 21:05they are about reconciliation, asking
  514. 21:07for forgiveness, returning home,
  515. 21:09returning to the family, little things
  516. 21:11like that, right? About love, family.
  517. 21:14But when you look at Halloween, there
  518. 21:15are two lines. On one hand, you have
  519. 21:17horror movies. Horror. Perverse people
  520. 21:20who dress up and go around chopping off
  521. 21:22heads. Horror. But then you have the
  522. 21:25children's movies. The children's ones
  523. 21:28have to do with the fact that there are
  524. 21:30spirits, there are demons, there are
  525. 21:32witches, there are little devils,
  526. 21:34things like that, ghosts, but
  527. 21:36everything ends up looking nice, like a
  528. 21:38fun, playful game. It's not just movies
  529. 21:42. Yeah, but I think that in some way
  530. 21:44it's teaching children two things. One,
  531. 21:47either that everything spiritual is
  532. 21:49just a movie, that everything having to
  533. 21:51do with witches, demons, is just cinema
  534. 21:54, childish and that's it, fantasy, or
  535. 21:56that it's a fun joke. But I think it
  536. 21:59takes weight away from understanding.
  537. 22:00Look, this is real. There are demons,
  538. 22:05there are some darknesses that do
  539. 22:06nothing good, that are not for playing
  540. 22:08with. So, in some way, I think that as
  541. 22:13parents and adults we also have the
  542. 22:15responsibility to instill in our
  543. 22:17children the reality of light and
  544. 22:20darkness, of good and evil, of God and
  545. 22:22Satan, and that making them participate
  546. 22:25in that can have a contradictory
  547. 22:27message. A contradictory message from
  548. 22:31my perspective, beyond what people
  549. 22:33might tell you, that you are making
  550. 22:35your children indirectly participate in
  551. 22:37a completely dark and pagan day. But
  552. 22:41for those reasons, for its origin, for
  553. 22:43what it implies today, for the
  554. 22:44responsibility I believe exists
  555. 22:46regarding children, for several of
  556. 22:48those reasons, because I believe the
  557. 22:50Bible clearly calls to separate
  558. 22:51ourselves from works linked to darkness
  559. 22:53and everything. So, I made that
  560. 22:56decision, if you don't want to make it,
  561. 22:58well, that seems great to me. If you
  562. 23:01want your children to see it only as a
  563. 23:02game, well, that seems great to me. It
  564. 23:04seems great to me, as I say, personal
  565. 23:07decisions, personal consequences,
  566. 23:10personal accountability before God.
  567. 23:14That I'm a Pharisee for thinking this
  568. 23:16way, well, pray for me so that the Lord
  569. 23:19gives me the grace to be as free as you
  570. 23:21are. But I am very calm and I am,
  571. 23:24honestly, very convinced of this. So
  572. 23:27personally, I consider that Halloween
  573. 23:30is not a celebration, not even for
  574. 23:32Christians to create a "light" version
  575. 23:35of that celebration. And I don't
  576. 23:39believe that believers, uh, should
  577. 23:41participate. If they ask me, I would
  578. 23:44tell any brother who asks me, I would
  579. 23:47abstain and keep my children from
  580. 23:49participating, no matter how much the
  581. 23:51school frames it as just a costume game
  582. 23:53, because in the end, what we have is
  583. 23:56an adaptation of something horrible,
  584. 23:58dark, and spiritually evil. So, that is
  585. 24:03my thought; if you see it differently,
  586. 24:05put it in the comments, but with
  587. 24:06respect, please; there is no need to
  588. 24:08label anyone anything just because they
  589. 24:10think differently about this, I believe
  590. 24:12. So, this is my opinion and this is
  591. 24:16what I believe, and this is the reason
  592. 24:18why both my household and I abstain
  593. 24:20completely from the practice and
  594. 24:22celebration of Halloween. We neither
  595. 24:25decorate the house nor give candy to
  596. 24:26the neighbors. Besides, the neighbors
  597. 24:29are already aware, in the sense that
  598. 24:31they have realized that it is not
  599. 24:33celebrated here, so the children
  600. 24:34shouldn't even try to come looking for
  601. 24:36candy because we might just preach the
  602. 24:38gospel to them. So if they want to
  603. 24:41knock on the door like Jehovah's
  604. 24:43Witnesses sometimes do, maybe what they
  605. 24:45will get is not a sweet, but they will
  606. 24:47receive the preaching of Christ and Him
  607. 24:50crucified. Well, this is my opinion,
  608. 24:53brothers. May the grace and peace of
  609. 24:54our Lord Jesus be with you all always.
  610. 24:56And remember that we love you in the
  611. 24:58Lord.
