- 0:00Hello, my wonderful students.
- 0:03Good afternoon from where you're
- 0:04watching. All right, we are going to be
- 0:06talking about for under the installation
- 0:08module, which is the 3.0. We're going to
- 0:11be talking about SPD, surge protective
- 0:14devices.
- 0:15So,
- 0:16let's quickly dive into it quickly.
- 0:19So, in my hand here is a 6 to 9 way
- 0:23protection complete device box.
- 0:26This is what you're going to be use in
- 0:28your installation
- 0:30when adding to your installation for
- 0:32protection.
- 0:33Unless this is optional,
- 0:35it's an it's an optional
- 0:37part of the system. So, most customers
- 0:40request for it, most doesn't.
- 0:42So, this is the box. This is a new one.
- 0:46So, now
- 0:48this is a complete box. This is how it
- 0:49looks like.
- 0:51So, let me open this.
- 0:53You see?
- 0:54We have the complete unit here. So, let
- 0:56me start explaining it one by one
- 0:59quickly for you so that you know what
- 1:00we're doing.
- 1:01For us to remove this casing, we will
- 1:02unscrew both of them and we can get
- 1:04access to each of these. So, these are
- 1:06breakers.
- 1:10These are breakers.
- 1:12Breakers are like switches that serves
- 1:14as an intermediary between current flow.
- 1:18Okay? They are also protection so that
- 1:20when currents are not going the way it's
- 1:22supposed to go, they react.
- 1:24You know? You can attest from your
- 1:26normal distribution board in your house.
- 1:28When there's a bridge, it does what? It
- 1:30cuts off automatically. So, let me start
- 1:32explaining each of these things you are
- 1:34seeing here.
- 1:36The first one we have is DC breaker.
- 1:40This is a DC breaker.
- 1:44Okay? So, DC breaker is the first one
- 1:46that you have. This is where your solar
- 1:49panels will be connected to.
- 1:52In the in the 9 way, because this is a 6
- 1:55way Uh this is a 4 ways rather, this is
- 1:57a four-way box. In the nine-way box, you
- 1:59will have two of this. One, you're going
- 2:02to be using it for the solar panel, and
- 2:04the other one you're going to be using
- 2:05it for battery. You know, both of these
- 2:08collect DC current. So, they're going to
- 2:10serve as switches for both of them. Now,
- 2:12up to the second one, we have AVS.
- 2:16The job of AVS is to regulate the
- 2:18voltage. AVS means adjustable voltage
- 2:21protector, so that the voltage that
- 2:23comes in from grid. Remember we talked
- 2:26about grid connection? The voltage that
- 2:28comes in from utility to charge the
- 2:30device can be regulated here. You can
- 2:32see if there's an overvoltage, it's
- 2:34going to step it down to protect the
- 2:36system. So, that's it for here.
- 2:39Next, we have our surge protective
- 2:41device.
- 2:42Surge protective device. This is the
- 2:44SPD. This is responsible for
- 2:47thunderstorm and lightning. This is for
- 2:50the AC unit. The one for the nine-way,
- 2:52you We're going to see another one for
- 2:54the DC.
- 2:56Okay? You're going to see the other one
- 2:57for the DC. So, this is how you take to
- 2:59know this VAC, that is voltage alternate
- 3:02current. So, the one for solar, you'll
- 3:04see VDC, that is voltage direct current.
- 3:07So, its job is to protect the system
- 3:09from thunderstorm. So, that's the job of
- 3:12SPD.
- 3:14Right here is AC breaker.
- 3:18This is where the grid power comes in
- 3:20for to charge the system. So, before it
- 3:22goes into the system, it first of all
- 3:24comes through these two pole, the
- 3:25positive and the negative pole, and
- 3:28comes out from under before going into
- 3:30the inverter. That way it serves as a
- 3:31switch. Whenever we want AC power to
- 3:33power, all we have to do is
- 3:35turn it on. You see? AC power start
- 3:38charging. When we want to turn it off,
- 3:41we turn it off. So, that is it for surge
- 3:44protective device, guys. So, whenever
- 3:46you see this, you know that it's used in
- 3:50installing of high system when needed.
- 3:53Unless the house has earthing, you don't
- 3:55require this protection. But, it is also
- 3:58advisable for homes that doesn't have
- 4:00earthing to for it to be added in order
- 4:03for the system to be protected.
- 4:17So,
- 4:18this is MPPT solar charge controller
- 4:22sample.
- 4:24This is a Must Company,
- 4:28one of the top brands in Nigeria.
- 4:31And this is rating.
- 4:34Remember I talked to you about the
- 4:35rating of each
- 4:37system.
- 4:39Every system has a rating, so that you
- 4:41know how many volts goes into it. If you
- 4:44check here, it's showing you what?
- 4:46Maximum solar voltage that can enter
- 4:48here is what? 145
- 4:51volts. You know? It's saying minimum
- 4:54voltage that can enter here is what? 100
- 4:57volts. So, you see? So, that is it for
- 5:01MPPT solar charge controller. I have I
- 5:03explained these are the terminal ports.
- 5:06This is for panel PV. Remember I told
- 5:08you about PV? This is for panel
- 5:11positive, negative. This is for battery
- 5:13positive and negative.
