7. 0:28out in 1605 King James I was the king of
8. 0:33England he was also the King of Scotland
9. 0:36however some people did not like him as
10. 0:40under his rule England was a Protestant
11. 0:43country and some people were catholic a
12. 0:46man called Robert kesby and his friends
13. 0:49plotted to blow up the houses of
14. 0:51Parliament with the King and his
15. 0:54government inside one of his friends was
16. 0:57called guy Forks they decided to use
17. 1:01gunpowder to blow up underneath the
18. 1:04king's chair their plan was to cause an
19. 1:07enormous
20. 1:09explosion 36 barrels of gunpowder were
21. 1:12put in the cellers of the houses of
22. 1:14Parliament on the 5th of November
23. 1:17however the plan did not work the
24. 1:19barrels were found by the king's guards
25. 1:21and some of the men including gufors
26. 1:24were arrested for trying to kill the
27. 1:27king the king decided that on on the 5th
28. 1:30of November every year from that day we
29. 1:33would remember the Gunpowder Plot and
30. 1:36how the plan
31. 1:39failed every year we burn bonfires and
32. 1:42put a model of guy Forks on top we light
33. 1:45fireworks and sparklers and we celebrate
34. 1:48the failure of the Gunpowder
