Guild Wars 2 auf Linux installieren – Schnell & einfach (ArenaNet Launcher) — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:01Hello everyone, today by viewer request
- 0:04we’re going to look at how to get
- 0:07Guild Wars 2 running on Linux. For this
- 0:11, I’ve downloaded the official
- 0:14launcher from Arenanet and I’m using
- 0:17Linux internally to install the
- 0:20launcher, the Faugus Launcher. And
- 0:24I’ll show you right now just how easy
- 0:27that works. We click on the plus sign
- 0:32here, select Windows game, enter Guild
- 0:36Wars 2, and then choose an installer.
- 0:43I’ve already prepared that here. Then
- 0:49we click OK, and the Guild Wars
- 0:52launcher will open up here. We’ll log
- 0:57in briefly, and then we can install the
- 0:59whole thing. We’ll go with the
- 1:04standard installation it suggests and
- 1:06then wait until the download is
- 1:08finished. Right, now the launcher is
- 1:13ready to play, and as you can see,
- 1:15it’s red here and I can't click OK
- 1:17yet. That means I still have to select
- 1:21the Guild Wars 2 .exe, and it saves
- 1:24everything into this so-called prefix.
- 1:29And this prefix is also right here when
- 1:34we click on browse. Under, where is it
- 1:42again? Faugus Guild Wars, Drive C,
- 1:49Program Files, Guild Wars 2 and Guild
- 1:53Wars .exe. So maybe just a quick note
- 1:57for those who want to run Windows games
- 2:01on Linux. The thing is, these Wine and
- 2:05Proton environments always create their
- 2:09own little Windows instance. You can
- 2:13think of it like this, with the
- 2:15libraries, and in this case, it’s the
- 2:18Guild Wars 2 prefix that was generated,
- 2:21and you can fine-tune it and adjust a
- 2:23few settings. You can also install
- 2:27programs or mods or addons into this
- 2:30prefix if needed, but we don’t want
- 2:32to look at that in detail now; we just
- 2:35want to get Guild Wars 2 running. So,
- 2:39we’ll select the .exe here and then
- 2:42click OK. Okay, now I’ll cancel this
- 2:46briefly and restart the thing. Back
- 2:50here in the launcher. It’s still
- 2:53downloading files, but we can already
- 2:56start the game, so let’s do that, and
- 3:00lo and behold, we are in the game,
- 3:03Europa. Ah, I have to go here to create
- 3:07a character. Okay, let's skip that for
- 3:10a second. Signed, Botler. Botler is
- 3:16already in use. Botler 08 15. Let’s
- 3:23just take Botler. Let’s skip this too
- 3:26. Wrath of the Ton. And boom, we are in
- 3:34the game and can report. So, this runs
- 3:38very smoothly, like a charm. So, well,
- 3:45proven once again, it runs perfectly if
- 3:48you know how it's done. It’s just—
- 3:50the launcher situation is actually
- 3:52pretty cool. Um, you obviously have to
- 3:55install the launcher first and then
- 3:58change the EXE in the prefix, but I
- 4:01think once you've seen it done, anyone
- 4:04can handle it. Like I said, the
- 4:08structure is just standard Windows
- 4:09style, I’d say, with Drive C.
- 4:11That’s the system disk with the
- 4:13Windows Program Files, and that’s
- 4:15where the games are kept, and then it
- 4:17just works. Now let's open it as proof,
- 4:21we're logged back in, we can play again
- 4:24. Then it just keeps downloading in the
- 4:26background. And to dear Blackwater
- 4:29Legacy, I'd say, have fun with Guild
- 4:32Wars. Take care, and for those who
- 4:35haven't subscribed yet, feel free to
- 4:37subscribe. Stay tuned. Until next time,
- 4:39your Botler. Cheers. Bye.
