Full transcript
- 0:00Hello, guys.
- 0:01Um, in this video, we are going to be
- 0:05explaining the scope for mathematical
- 0:08literacy paper one for grade 10, right?
- 0:11So, we are going to be showing you or
- 0:13going to be showing you everything that
- 0:15we should expect in the final exam,
- 0:19right? So, firstly,
- 0:21um, we need to understand the basic
- 0:23skills used throughout the curriculum,
- 0:26right? So, we need to understand um,
- 0:29numbers and calculations.
- 0:31And
- 0:33in numbers and calculations, guys, we
- 0:34need to understand the number formats.
- 0:36So, we need to understand the decimal
- 0:38points.
- 0:39And we need to understand the decimal
- 0:41commas.
- 0:42And we need to understand the thousand
- 0:45operator separators, as well as the
- 0:47positive and negative numbers, right?
- 0:50And we need to be able to convert
- 0:52between numbers,
- 0:53as well as to be
- 0:55as well as to perform operations with
- 0:57whole numbers,
- 0:59decimal and fraction and fractions,
- 1:01right?
- 1:03Okay? And then, secondly, we need to be
- 1:05able to understand ratio,
- 1:08um, rates. So, ratio, rates, proportion
- 1:12and percentages.
- 1:14Okay? So, we need to be able to
- 1:17interpret and calculate ratios
- 1:20and rates in practical situations,
- 1:22right? And we also need to be able to
- 1:25understand patterns and relationships
- 1:28and representations. So, here, we need
- 1:31to be able to recognize constant,
- 1:34um, as well as direct proportion and
- 1:36inverse
- 1:38proportion,
- 1:39right? So, these are the things that we
- 1:41need to
- 1:42fully
- 1:44understand. Okay? As we As we prepare
- 1:47for our final exam. And then, secondly,
- 1:51we need to fully understand
- 1:53uh, finance. So, under finance, we can
- 1:56see that we need to
- 1:57purchase
- 1:58and study financial documents and
- 2:01tariffs, right?
- 2:03And also need to be able to
- 2:07advise

- 2:11okay? As well as
- 2:14interest, banking and advance. So, we
- 2:17know that
- 2:18VAT stands for value added tax.
- 2:22So, we know that VAT stands for value
- 2:23added tax. So, we need to be able to
- 2:26distinguish between
- 2:28um interest and and interest rate,
- 2:32okay?
- 2:33And we also need to be able to
- 2:36calculate interest and interest rates
- 2:39without using formula,
- 2:42without using formal interest formula,
- 2:44right?
- 2:45Without using any formal interest
- 2:47formula, okay? So, these are the things
- 2:49that we need to understand as we prepare
- 2:52for our final exams for mathematical
- 2:56literacy or maths literacy grade 10
- 2:59paper one.
- 3:00Okay?
- 3:01And then next, we need to
- 3:04understand data handling. So, here under
- 3:07data handling, we need to understand of
- 3:10collecting
- 3:11and organizing data,
- 3:14right? And we also need to understand
- 3:17summarizing data,
- 3:19as well as representing
- 3:21and analyzing
- 3:23data.
- 3:25So, here on representing and analyzing
- 3:27data, we can see that we need to
- 3:29understand how to interpret pie charts,
- 3:33and we also need to understand
- 3:35um how to read graph titles,
- 3:39um labels, scales as well as values
- 3:42accurately,
- 3:44okay? And then lastly, we need to
- 3:47understand probability.
- 3:51Lastly, we need to understand
- 3:52probability.
- 3:54Okay. So, guys, this is a paper one,
- 3:57right? And these are the topics that
- 4:00are covered in paper [clears throat]
- 4:01one. And then here we are shown paper
- 4:03one exam layout. So, this is how our
- 4:05exam will look like. So, we can see that
- 4:09um
- 4:10we have finance,
- 4:12we have data handling,
- 4:14and we also have the integration of
- 4:17finance, data handling, and
- 4:19probability. So, we will have a question
- 4:22that is solely based on finance,
- 4:25and we will have a question that is
- 4:28based on data handling. Then, we also
- 4:31have a question that is based on both,
- 4:34or rather on
- 4:35finance, data handling, and probability.
- 4:39So, guys, remember that probability
- 4:42forms part of paper one and paper two.
- 4:45So, you will find probability in paper
- 4:47one,
- 4:48and you will also find probability
- 4:51in paper two. So, this is what you
- 4:53should expect in the final exam for
- 4:55paper one, maths literacy, right?
- 4:58Then, guys,
- 5:00make sure you remember to subscribe to
- 5:01the channel, because we are still going
- 5:03to be uploading videos where in we will
- 5:06be showing you how to answer such
- 5:07questions in the final exam, in the
- 5:11exam, right? So, make sure that you are
- 5:13subscribed so that when we post those
- 5:15videos, you can also be notified and
- 5:18learn with other learners, right? So,
- 5:21bye for now, guys, and see you in the
