- 0:01Welcome to the Local SEO News, where in
- 0:03just over 10 minutes we're going to
- 0:05review everything that's happened in
- 0:07SEO, AI, and marketing for local
- 0:09businesses. This month there's some
- 0:12news that changes the rules. From now
- 0:14on, you'll be able to connect your
- 0:16Google listing directly to Gemini,
- 0:18Google's artificial intelligence, an AI
- 0:21that knows your business inside and out
- 0:23, including your reviews, your data,
- 0:25and your performance. I'm going to
- 0:28explain what that really means for your
- 0:29business. And that's not the only thing
- 0:33we're going to talk about, because this
- 0:35month Google has also tightened the
- 0:36screws on reviews and has changed the
- 0:38way the map is displayed. I'm Matías
- 0:41Romero from Ginan Academy. Let's get
- 0:43started. Let's get to the big news.
- 0:59Until now, managing your Google listing
- 1:01meant going into the dashboard,
- 1:03struggling with the menus, and doing
- 1:05things manually. That's about to change
- 1:07. Google has announced that you'll be
- 1:10able to connect your business listing
- 1:12to Gemini from its app. Once connected,
- 1:16Gemini becomes an assistant that
- 1:18understands your business, has access
- 1:20to your reviews and customer questions,
- 1:22and of course, also your performance
- 1:25data. And if you’re wondering what
- 1:28all this is for in practice, I’ll
- 1:29explain it very simply. Imagine asking
- 1:32Google, “How has my business been
- 1:34this month?” and it will analyze your
- 1:37impressions, requests for directions,
- 1:39and calls. You can also say, “Gemini,
- 1:42help me respond to this review.” It
- 1:44will write the response in your brand
- 1:46tone, removing what the customer said.
- 1:49Google has said that this functionality
- 1:51will begin to roll out globally this
- 1:53month. As you can imagine, this will
- 1:56completely reduce the barrier to entry
- 1:58to managing a listing properly. What
- 2:01used to take you half an afternoon, you
- 2:03now ask an AI directly. But be careful,
- 2:06because it’s not all that easy or
- 2:07pretty. If you can ask Gemini for all
- 2:10of this, your client will also be able
- 2:12to ask Gemini about businesses like
- 2:14yours. And keep in mind that your
- 2:17competition will also have access to
- 2:19the same type of recommendations that
- 2:21you are going to ask them for. And
- 2:24there is also the lack of context
- 2:25because the information that is
- 2:27compiled in a file is at most 30%of
- 2:29everything that influences your
- 2:31business. So the important thing is
- 2:34that you understand that your company's
- 2:36information will stop being a formality
- 2:38and will become the raw material with
- 2:40which artificial intelligence will talk
- 2:42about your business. If this
- 2:44information is incomplete or outdated,
- 2:46the AI will not speak well of you. It's
- 2:48that simple. And if the AI is going to
- 2:51read your reviews to respond to them
- 2:52for you, it is important to know what
- 2:54Google is doing with them, because this
- 2:56month it has been very strict. In case
- 2:58you didn't know, for a few weeks now
- 3:00Google has been moderating your
- 3:02responses to the reviews that are left
- 3:04for you. In other words, that elaborate
- 3:07response that you leave for a client
- 3:09may be retained or not published at all
- 3:11. And this month, a study came out that
- 3:14looks at responses to reviews that
- 3:16Google has rejected. They call them
- 3:19hidden rejections because they go
- 3:21unnoticed by the business owner. At the
- 3:24same time, Google has started asking
- 3:26the user, literally, if the business
- 3:28offered them some kind of reward in
- 3:30exchange for leaving a review. And what
- 3:34does all this mean together? The fact
- 3:36that Google is not directly publishing
- 3:38your responses and is asking your users
- 3:40if you have given them some kind of
- 3:42incentive to leave reviews. Well,
- 3:44basically, the review space is getting
- 3:46stricter and more policed than ever. In
- 3:49my opinion, reviews are probably still
- 3:51the thing that is going to help you
- 3:53move your position on the map the most.
- 3:55That doesn't change at all. What does
- 3:58change is how, how it all plays out and
- 4:00how you can work on it. Because asking
- 4:05for reviews in exchange for a discount
- 4:07or setting a goal for your team to get
- 4:09so many reviews per month is exactly
- 4:11what Google is flagging and penalizing.
- 4:15An important nuance to all this is that
- 4:17if you get a response rejected, it's
- 4:19not a penalty as such, but if you're
- 4:21getting a lot of rejections and you
- 4:23don't know it, you're losing a tool for
- 4:25building relationships with your client
- 4:27and you're not interacting with them.
- 4:30So it's a good idea to check it
- 4:32frequently. Before continuing with the
- 4:35video, let me tell you something that's
- 4:37going to interest you, because if you
- 4:39offer SEO services in addition to your
- 4:41own business, or you're a freelance
- 4:43consultant or have a small agency, what
- 4:45I'm going to tell you now is going to
- 4:47change the way you get clients. Because
- 4:50you probably already know that the
- 4:52number one problem in the sector isn't
- 4:54that people don't know how to do SEO,
- 4:56it's that it's very difficult to
- 4:58consistently find clients without going
- 5:00crazy during the process. That's why
- 5:05we've launched Pillalits, a tool within
- 5:07Local Brain that has a very specific
- 5:09flow. You type in a category and a city
- 5:15, such as a painter in Murcia or
- 5:17lawyers in Malaga, and in 10 minutes
- 5:19you'll have dozens of businesses with
- 5:21no website or a poor website. It also
- 5:27includes the email address of the
- 5:29company and an exact SEO score that
- 5:31tells you how much room for improvement
- 5:33their current website has and what
- 5:35arguments to use to sell it. But what
- 5:39makes the difference is not the
- 5:40scraping, it's what happens next.
- 5:44Pillalitz automatically generates a
- 5:46real website for that business with
- 5:49their name, logo, and Google reviews,
- 5:51and attaches it directly to the email
- 5:53you send them. In other words, the
- 5:58owner opens the email, clicks on the
- 6:00link, and sees the new website you're
- 6:02proposing set up without you having to
- 6:05do anything. The open rate of the open
- 6:11beta was over 35%of all emails sent,
- 6:14and one in nine closed a customer in
- 6:16the first week of using it. If you want
- 6:23to take it to the next level, the
- 6:25premium plan includes the rotator, a
- 6:27tool in which you configure the
- 6:29category and municipalities you want to
- 6:31target, and the prospecting bot
- 6:33generates the websites and sends 10
- 6:35personalized emails per day completely
- 6:37automatically, without you even having
- 6:39to open the application. You just have
- 6:45to show up for the video calls that
- 6:46come to you on your calendar. If you
- 6:50want to try Pillits, I'll leave a 15%
- 6:52discount coupon in the description
- 6:54below so you can try it out and start
- 6:56getting clients automatically. Now,
- 7:00let's continue with the video. Let's
- 7:02continue with your profile because
- 7:04Google has been messing with it this
- 7:05month, as usual, without warning. The
- 7:08first thing you need to know is that
- 7:10Google has added WhatsApp numbers to a
- 7:12bunch of profiles automatically and
- 7:14without the owner asking for it. So if
- 7:17you've received an email from Google
- 7:19notifying you of such a change, go in
- 7:21and check which number appears on your
- 7:23profile, just in case it's not the one
- 7:25you want. The second new feature, this
- 7:27one is quite good, is that Google is
- 7:29going to allow you to connect your
- 7:31Google Business Profile with Google
- 7:33Analytics. So yes, you'll finally be
- 7:35able to cross-reference what happens in
- 7:37your profile with what happens later on
- 7:39your website. They're rolling this out
- 7:42progressively and you'll have it
- 7:43available in the coming weeks. And the
- 7:46third new feature is that the photos
- 7:48and videos on your listing now show how
- 7:50many times they've been viewed. A very
- 7:52interesting piece of information that
- 7:54tells you which images work and which
- 7:56don't. As you've seen, Google gives us
- 7:58a mixed bag. Anything that involves
- 8:00more data and more connections, well,
- 8:02that's welcome. But WhatsApp is no
- 8:04exception. Google likes to change your
- 8:08listing's details on its own, which is
- 8:10why I insist so much on monitoring your
- 8:12business profile on Google frequently.
- 8:16This isn't so that you live in fear,
- 8:18but so that you find out the day it
- 8:20happens and not three months later. And
- 8:22it's not just your listing that changes
- 8:24on the inside, it also changes how it
- 8:26looks on the outside on the map,
- 8:28because Google has removed pagination
- 8:30from the Local Finder. In case you
- 8:32didn't know, the Local Finder is that
- 8:34expanded list that appears when you
- 8:36click on More Places in the Local Pack.
- 8:38Before, you had to go from page to page
- 8:40, now you don't. It's not clear if this
- 8:43is a one-off bug or if they're going to
- 8:44leave it like this. In addition, Google
- 8:47is testing two things. displaying
- 8:50real-time stock of products within the
- 8:52local pack and, for the time being,
- 8:54only in the United States, it is also
- 8:57testing placing home service ads within
- 8:59local service ads, those ads for local
- 9:01businesses. What I see here is a very
- 9:05clear direction, is that the map
- 9:06increasingly shows you more things that
- 9:08are actionable such as stock, price,
- 9:10making a reservation and that rewards
- 9:12the business that has a complete and
- 9:14up-to-date listing. All this on the
- 9:16side that you win. Now what can cost
- 9:19you a lot? I'm going to start with some
- 9:22good news among all the bad news.
- 9:24Google finally gives you detailed
- 9:26reasons when it rejects something in
- 9:28your listing. Before, it was basically
- 9:31a black box that said rejected and you
- 9:34had to guess why. Now they give you the
- 9:38details and sincerely it is appreciated
- 9:40because the truth is that we are
- 9:42needing it, since this month there has
- 9:44been a wave of suspensions of listings
- 9:46related to restrictions on the user
- 9:48account that manages them. In other
- 9:51words, what is being suspended is not
- 9:53because there is something wrong with
- 9:55the business listing, but because one
- 9:57of the accounts that manages it has
- 9:59something wrong, at least in Google's
- 10:01eyes. As if that were not enough, there
- 10:04is a reported book of invitations to
- 10:06grant owner or manager access to a
- 10:08listing that are not working well in
- 10:10some cases. As you can see, changing
- 10:13the listing is still sometimes a risky
- 10:15sport. My usual advice for all this is
- 10:18to document what you change, do not
- 10:20change 10 things at once and have a
- 10:22place where you can see the entire
- 10:23history of your listing, because the
- 10:25day something goes wrong you will know
- 10:27very well when it happened, you will
- 10:29know very well what happened and when.
- 10:32And that's it for the June review. For
- 10:34me, the picture of the month is quite
- 10:36clear. Artificial intelligence is
- 10:38getting inside your listing and between
- 10:40you and your client. Reviews are
- 10:43increasingly monitored and the map
- 10:44increasingly rewards those who have a
- 10:46complete and well-kept listing. Now
- 10:48it's your turn. Tell me something in
- 10:50the comments. Which of these new
- 10:53features caught you by surprise? To me,
- 10:56Gemini seems like one that will change
- 10:58the day-to-day of many local businesses
- 11:00the most, but I'm raising your eyebrows
- 11:02as well. Remember that you have the
- 11:06complete summary with all the links to
- 11:07the official sources and you can
- 11:09subscribe to the newsletter to stay up
- 11:11to date on SEO and marketing for local
- 11:13businesses. Now, see you in the next
- 11:16video. Hello. Ha.
