  1. 0:00Passwords as we know them are dying, but
  2. 0:01they were never that secure to begin
  3. 0:03with. Today, the best way to keep your
  4. 0:05online life secure isn't complex
  5. 0:06passwords and it isn't two-factor
  6. 0:08authentication. It's [music] passkeys.
  7. 0:10Most passwords can be easily guessed by
  8. 0:11machines or they're too hard to
  9. 0:13remember. Password managers can help,
  10. 0:16but they can be confusing and they're
  11. 0:17not impervious to fishing. Passkeys, on
  12. 0:19the other hand, are essentially a
  13. 0:20digital key that can log you in without
  14. 0:22needing to remember a complex password.
  15. 0:24Passkeys are bound to specific websites.

  17. 0:26When you start to log in, your device
  18. 0:28finds your passkey and you authenticate
  19. 0:30using your fingerprint, [music] Face ID,
  20. 0:32or PIN. Passkeys can't be forgotten,
  21. 0:34they're resistant to fishing, and
  22. 0:36resistant to data breaches. We are in
  23. 0:38the early days of passkeys, so it can be
  24. 0:40hard to find sites that use them. While
  25. 0:42passkeys sync between some devices, it's
  26. 0:44not universal and it can be tricky to
  27. 0:46find where your passkey is stored. But
  28. 0:48even with those annoying quirks, we
  29. 0:49recommend making a passkey wherever you
  30. 0:51can. It will make your online life
  31. 0:53safer.
