7. 0:36I want to welcome you to one of the most
8. 0:38interesting studies you'll probably ever
9. 0:40have in your Christian Life and Ministry
10. 0:42for you that are ministers we're going
11. 0:44to be looking at the lives of
12. 0:45individuals that God chose to use
13. 0:47throughout the centuries to lead his
14. 0:50purposes in the earth it'll be some of
15. 0:52the most interesting stories about uh
16. 0:54how they overcome the triumphs overcome
17. 0:57and Triumph over the obstacles of Life
18. 0:59how they overcame their family troubles
19. 1:02how their financial woses disappeared
20. 1:03and God gave them the Breakthrough they
21. 1:05needed and we're entering into a time
22. 1:07right now in the church world where this
23. 1:09same element of waiting for the next
24. 1:11group of leaders to come on the scene
25. 1:13has come we're coming to an end when the
26. 1:16great ones that have led the last 20 30
27. 1:18years have come to the end of their life
28. 1:20and they themselves are also saying
29. 1:22they're looking for young men and young
30. 1:24women to impart to to talk to and to
31. 1:25give the wisdom of what they learned
32. 1:27throughout their years to them and I I
33. 1:30think the whole church world is looking
34. 1:31who's going to be the next group of
35. 1:33leaders are they going to make it we've
36. 1:34had in the last so many years say like
37. 1:37the last 15 years some great troubles
38. 1:39with some of our leaders who didn't
39. 1:40quite make it all the way with personal
40. 1:42challenges and so forth and there's a
41. 1:44question in the church world that the
42. 1:46next leaders as they come will they be
43. 1:48able to make it to the end of their life
44. 1:50successfully and leave this earth with
45. 1:52honor and respect and admiration even
46. 1:55from secular society in this study we're
47. 1:57going to look at the lives of people
48. 2:00we're going to look at them in this way
49. 2:01we're look at them what they did that
50. 2:02was right and what they did that was not
51. 2:05right we have what we call constructive
52. 2:07criticism as we go through history to
53. 2:09find out how we could skip over and jump
54. 2:12over the ditches of personal failure and
55. 2:14ministerial failure and when we begin to
56. 2:16do that a lot of times people say well
57. 2:18you shouldn't talk about the negative
58. 2:20well I believe we should discuss those
59. 2:21things from a from a standpoint of
60. 2:24understanding why they did what they did
61. 2:26so you and I don't have to do it either
62. 2:28so many times people think well I'll
63. 2:29never never do that and they're always
64. 2:31the ones that end up making the same
65. 2:32mistake again and again you'll notice as
66. 2:35I go through these uh lives of these
67. 2:37individuals that they keep repeating the
68. 2:39same problems over and over and over and
69. 2:42one of my heart desires are uh is to get
70. 2:45people to understand they don't have to
71. 2:47go through these things you can learn by
72. 2:49reading the scriptures and you can learn
73. 2:51by seeing who has gone before you like
74. 2:53Paul said he said are these things are
75. 2:55written in the Old Testament that we
76. 2:57might learn from them as examples so we
77. 2:59can hit the the right thing and skip the
78. 3:01wrong thing the first person we're going
79. 3:03to look at today is a man that probably
80. 3:05not many of you have heard of the reason
81. 3:07why you have not heard of him is because
82. 3:08he died with a lot of controversy around
83. 3:11his name he died with beliefs that were
84. 3:13not true and he died with doctrinal
85. 3:15errors that totally made those who did
86. 3:17love him not want to talk about him or
87. 3:19discuss him his name is John Alexander
88. 3:22dowy he was a man that God used in a
89. 3:25time period of 1847 in Scotland he's a
90. 3:28Scottish man and uh years before his
91. 3:31life there was another man by the name
92. 3:32of John Knox who came through there and
93. 3:34really revolutionized the whole
94. 3:37Christian realm of Scotland well Dow is
95. 3:39going to do the same thing for the whole
96. 3:41world in relationship to the ministry of
97. 3:43Salvation and healing at the age of six
98. 3:46he had decided that he would never drink
99. 3:48or smoke and he be to read his Bible
100. 3:49through with the help of his parents and
101. 3:51then when he was a young man and the
102. 3:53young teenage years his family decided
103. 3:54to leave Scotland and go to Australia
104. 3:57where it took 6 months on a boat to
105. 3:59float that far from uh from Scotland all
106. 4:02the way to Australia 6 months on one of
107. 4:04those ocean liners to get there and when
108. 4:07he got to Australia he began to work
109. 4:08with his family's business and they
110. 4:10began to find that he had the ability to
111. 4:12make money very quickly and rapidly in
112. 4:14business skills was almost unnatural to
113. 4:16him and then he
114. 4:18decided that at a certain age he had
115. 4:20saved his money he wanted to go back to
116. 4:22Scotland and to study at the University
117. 4:24of Edinburgh so he floated back probably
118. 4:276 months back from Australia to Scotland
119. 4:29to go to the University and while he was
120. 4:31there he decided to take two subjects he
121. 4:33would major in political science and
122. 4:35then he would also minor in theological
123. 4:38studies now to me this is the first sign
124. 4:40of a developing Apostolic call that's on
125. 4:42his life see in the apostolic Ministry
126. 4:45you have two things that begin to
127. 4:46function here you have the apostolic
128. 4:48Ministry has a very strong governmental
129. 4:50feeling to it very strong order and
130. 4:53fashion and dictatorial type of
131. 4:55methodology to set things or and keep
132. 4:57things straight and so we see that with
133. 4:59the political desire he went after and
134. 5:00you also see the ministerial call with
135. 5:02the desire to go into the theological
136. 5:04studies and they called him not so much
137. 5:06a great student because he was one that
138. 5:09always would raise his hand and ask
139. 5:11questions to the teacher and have an
140. 5:12argument from the teacher to the student
141. 5:14back and forth to where even the other
142. 5:15students are probably think here he goes
143. 5:18again but he was so good in what he was
144. 5:20doing and he was so good in the
145. 5:21theological realm they asked him to be
146. 5:23the Chaplan for the infirmary of the
147. 5:25school so that gave him a very
148. 5:27interesting opportunity he was a that
149. 5:29had the opportunity to sit in the
150. 5:31discussions and the lectures of the
151. 5:33medical school so I know those days it
152. 5:35may be doing an autopsy and the the
153. 5:37medical teachers and have the body they
154. 5:39were doing the autopsy in in the middle
155. 5:41of the room and the seating kind of was
156. 5:42escalated up in a circular fashion and
157. 5:45he was able to sit there in the
158. 5:46classroom and hear them discuss about
159. 5:48the autopsy or the surgery they might be
160. 5:50doing and he discovered that the doctors
161. 5:52and the professors there did not know
162. 5:54all that they were doing it was more
163. 5:56trial and error he called it an inexact
164. 5:58science and and this begin to form a
165. 6:01certain belief in him that people that
166. 6:05were in the medical world and going to
167. 6:07doctors for medical treatment should be
168. 6:09aware that they were mainly just being
169. 6:11people they were being practiced on so
170. 6:13that begin to form a doctr that would
171. 6:15come out on his Healing Ministry that
172. 6:16when you sought God for healing that you
173. 6:18don't not go to doctors you don't take
174. 6:20the medicine you throw it all away now
175. 6:22in today's world where medical science
176. 6:24is a little bit more exact and a whole
177. 6:26lot more helpful to human beings I
178. 6:29wouldn't think he would hold to the same
179. 6:30opinion but this also be the doctrine in
180. 6:32the early Pentecostal church that if
181. 6:34you're going to believe God for healing
182. 6:36you don't need medicine you don't go to
183. 6:37doctors you just trust God and pray and
184. 6:39either you get healed or you die and it
185. 6:41came from this uh experience that doy
186. 6:44had that he saw these people doing these
187. 6:46things with surgeries and autopsies and
188. 6:48realizing that they were not going to
189. 6:50have uh be any better after it was over
190. 6:53so he begin to preach if you want
191. 6:54healing don't go to the doctors they'll
192. 6:56kill you they'll get you worse off and
193. 6:58so during this whole time period I
194. 7:00believe God was forming certain things
195. 7:02his view on the healing Ministries being
196. 7:04formed even probably Beyond his own
197. 7:06mindset of what was happening Dr do
198. 7:10decided because he got a telegram from
199. 7:12Australia they had to quit the
200. 7:13university and go back to Australia
201. 7:15early because of some family situations
202. 7:18when he went back to Australia he
203. 7:19decided that he would start pastoring so
204. 7:22he had his first church and he wanted to
205. 7:24continue his studies during this
206. 7:25particular time but as he was pastoring
207. 7:27this first church he found that this
208. 7:28church was not something he wanted to
209. 7:30deal with very long he found that the
210. 7:32denomination was a part of was very
211. 7:33controlling that they did not like
212. 7:35creativity which is a typical aspect of
213. 7:37a religious situation they do not want
214. 7:39you to be creative and not break out of
215. 7:41the little shell or the Box they put you
216. 7:43in but when you obey the Lord and you
217. 7:45fall of the Holy Spirit you're always
218. 7:46going to have a bigger world than what
219. 7:47religious religious denominations give
220. 7:50you and religious mindsets give you and
221. 7:52so he resigned his first Passion because
222. 7:54he felt like they were boxing him in and
223. 7:56that the congregation was lethargic now
224. 7:58this is a man
225. 8:00that was a self-motivator he was not one
226. 8:02that had to be told what to do he got up
227. 8:04and he did it he did not need a lot of
228. 8:06encouragement he didn't need not a lot
229. 8:08of people to say you're great keep going
230. 8:10he didn't have a lot of balance with
231. 8:11depression or not knowing what to do his
232. 8:13problem was he kept finding borders of
233. 8:15limitation that Society religion church
234. 8:18members and family kept putting on him
235. 8:20and he kept wanting to break out of it
236. 8:22which I think is one of the
237. 8:23characteristics of a great leader that
238. 8:25you always keep forging ahead the
239. 8:27borders of Christianity if we'd have
240. 8:29more leaders like that then salvation
241. 8:30will be brought a whole lot faster to
242. 8:32the world healing will be a whole lot
243. 8:33faster to them that are sick and the
244. 8:35church will be a whole lot more further
245. 8:36down the road instead of sometimes 20 to
246. 8:3830 years behind what even secular
247. 8:40society is doing we need more people
248. 8:42like dowy in his self motivation and so
249. 8:45he resigned from um from this first
250. 8:48church and went on to do some other
251. 8:50things and was given another church and
252. 8:52during this time he met his wife now
253. 8:54whomi married is a little interesting
254. 8:55story that I think would be a little
255. 8:57trivia for you in in the historical
256. 8:59aspect that he married his cousin his
257. 9:01father-in-law was a little upset about
258. 9:03first off them being family like they
259. 9:05were to uh discuss them being married
260. 9:08because he didn't think it was right so
261. 9:09doy being articulate as he was with
262. 9:11speech he began to write letters and
263. 9:13talk about it that there was people in
264. 9:15the Bible who had done this and there
265. 9:16was no wrong in this and no sin and
266. 9:18finally the father-in-law agreed all
267. 9:20right you can get married but the
268. 9:21father-in-law had another challenge and
269. 9:23another concern that he told both doy
270. 9:25and his wife Jeanie that he felt like
271. 9:28doy was such a man that could not stay
272. 9:30in one job or occupation very long that
273. 9:32he was scared that he could not provide
274. 9:34for his daughter the way that he should
275. 9:36and to be honest that's what actually
276. 9:38happened they got married finally and
277. 9:40soon after their marriage he was going
278. 9:41through financial difficulties to the
279. 9:43point that his daughter or his wife had
280. 9:45to go back to his father-in-law's house
281. 9:46and stayed there for a while and even to
282. 9:48the point that there was some trouble
283. 9:50between his wife and him but he made
284. 9:52this great statement that I think would
285. 9:53be interesting for you to know he said I
286. 9:55can see the future and what I'm supposed
287. 9:57to do better than I can resolve the
288. 9:59present problems of the of today so
289. 10:02which to me is the problem of a
290. 10:04Visionary a Visionary can see how to
291. 10:06take care of all the problems of the
292. 10:07future how to push back the borders of
293. 10:09ministry and chrisom but at the same
294. 10:12time they do not know how to handle the
295. 10:14present problems right in front of them
296. 10:16how to get enough money to buy food for
297. 10:18the table how to keep that family in
298. 10:20harmony how to make the present day
299. 10:22needs of the ministry the present day
300. 10:23needs of their business to go forward
301. 10:26and so many times that's why so many
302. 10:27Visionaries are not successful they
303. 10:29don't understand what's going on because
304. 10:31they do not understand how to take care
305. 10:33of the present problems and that is
306. 10:35something they must decide to do with a
307. 10:38human will conscious they're so used to
308. 10:40flowing with the creative energies
309. 10:41they're so used to flowing with the
310. 10:42Anning and the Visionary that God has
311. 10:44given them but they have to realize some
312. 10:47things they have to volunteer their will
313. 10:49and do do some discovery on their own of
314. 10:51how to solve the present problem in 1876
315. 10:55dve faced one of his biggest problems
316. 10:57but would lead to one of his greatest
317. 10:58discoveries and lead him to World Fame
318. 11:01in the little church that he was
319. 11:02pastoring there came a plague over
320. 11:04Australia that began to cause people to
321. 11:07die he buried over 40 of his church
322. 11:09members during this particular time and
323. 11:11what happened to his heart as a pastor
324. 11:13when he began to officiate 40 funerals
325. 11:16of children mothers and fathers and even
326. 11:18to some of the other churches who the
327. 11:20pastors had passed away too he went over
328. 11:21and officiated the sermons of other
329. 11:23churches he be to cry out to God God
330. 11:26you've got to heal today there's
331. 11:27something more you got to do to help
332. 11:29these people a Shepherd's Heart a
333. 11:30pastor's heart went out and begin to cry
334. 11:32out to God on behalf of the people and
335. 11:34while he's going through this soul
336. 11:36searching and going through this this
337. 11:37pressing into God he discovers and God
338. 11:40sends him acts 10:38 as a revelation and
339. 11:43acts 10:38 says how God anointed Jesus
340. 11:46of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and
341. 11:48with the power to go about doing good
342. 11:50and in all that were oppressed of the
343. 11:51devil he discovered two things number
344. 11:53one that all sickness and oppression
345. 11:55came from the devil and that God was not
346. 11:58the author of it and when that
347. 11:59Revelation hit his spirit and began to
348. 12:01understand that almost immediately he
349. 12:03said there was a knock at the door of
350. 12:05the parage where he was at when this
351. 12:06Revelation came to him and it was from
352. 12:08some friends that was down the road
353. 12:10saying pastor doy come quickly Mary is
354. 12:13going to die one of the other young
355. 12:15ladies in his church had lived a few
356. 12:17blocks down with her parents and was on
357. 12:18her deathbed the doctor told the the
358. 12:21people there to go get the pastor so he
359. 12:23can come and comfort the family and pray
360. 12:25for the little girl as she dies so he
361. 12:27ran out the of his house down the street
362. 12:29a few houses to the place where Mary was
363. 12:31living came into the house he said and
364. 12:34the doctor met him and said well you
365. 12:35just got to prepare the family she's
366. 12:37going to pass away in a few hours
367. 12:39there's nothing we can do death is going
368. 12:41to happen and da turned to the mother
369. 12:43and said why did you send for me she
370. 12:46said well I was hoping that maybe you
371. 12:47could do something he said well I can do
372. 12:49something I believe God can do something
373. 12:51now well the doctor told doct no no
374. 12:53don't don't do that the girl is going to
375. 12:55die just Comfort the family be this nice
376. 12:58little pastoral man and make sure
377. 12:59everything's Pleasant and help them
378. 13:01through their time of grief and he so
379. 13:03came back at the uh the pastor there or
380. 13:05the doctor excuse me that the doctor
381. 13:07thought he was crazy and there was
382. 13:09something wrong with him and he left the
383. 13:10room kind of upset so D walked over to
384. 13:13the bedside laid his hands on Mary the
385. 13:15little the little girl there in the home
386. 13:17and prayed for God to heal her let the
387. 13:19the ravage disease die he praying for
388. 13:21God of uh to come down and touch this
389. 13:24little girl and make her whole and when
390. 13:25he finished the prayer the the mother
391. 13:28said well is she dead and Dr D said I
392. 13:30don't think so because when he got
393. 13:32through praying she was looking there
394. 13:34like she'd lost all of her life her
395. 13:36pulse seemed to be gone and all of a
396. 13:37sudden her eyes open and she asked for
397. 13:39something to eat and to drink and the
398. 13:41little girl was healed he goes to the
399. 13:43bedroom next door where her sister and
400. 13:45her brother was prayed for them and they
401. 13:46are healed and nobody else in his church
402. 13:49dies of this disease during this whole
403. 13:51time the plague is going on and for the
404. 13:53next few years as he passed he only had
405. 13:55like five funerals of elderly people who
406. 13:57fulfilled their natural time on Earth
407. 13:58and died no one died of disease no one
408. 14:00died of tragedy because the Revelation
409. 14:03that God is a healing and healing was
410. 14:05for today had exploded inside of him now
411. 14:07this began his big time display on the
412. 14:11public scene of of of the world of The
413. 14:13Healing Ministry dowy begin to pray for
414. 14:15the sick and as he begin to pray for the
415. 14:17sick people begin to get healed and like
416. 14:19it was in the days of Jesus when healing
417. 14:20start happening and deliverance start
418. 14:22happening Fame starts being spread about
419. 14:24people start talking about it and all of
420. 14:26a sudden Dow becomes the most famous
421. 14:29Pastor faith healer as you may want to
422. 14:30call it uh in Australia he is now
423. 14:33preaching to crowds of up to 20,000 as
424. 14:35his Healing Ministry begins to
425. 14:37accelerate he has a very strong gift a
426. 14:40very strong faith and he also here's
427. 14:42something a little interesting about him
428. 14:44unless you were born again or ready to
429. 14:46repent he won't pray for you he believes
430. 14:48that heing only belongs to the Christian
431. 14:51and so what he does you come up on the
432. 14:52platform and he'll talk to you for a few
433. 14:54moments and if he'll ask you a question
434. 14:56or if he discerns that you're not saved
435. 14:57and you don't want to get saved then he
436. 14:59won't pray for you cuz he believes that
437. 15:00heing only belongs to the Christians now
438. 15:02I thank God we've gone a little bit
439. 15:04further than that and known that God's
440. 15:05love is that he loves The Sinner as well
441. 15:08as the Christian and will heal both of
442. 15:09them they'll come to him in faith but
443. 15:12during this time Dy has an unusual
444. 15:14ability to get pulled out of the will of
445. 15:16God and this is something he'll go
446. 15:18throughout his entire life and here's a
447. 15:19lesson that we can learn when God does
448. 15:21place you in a in a certain calling a
449. 15:23certain office and a certain ability
450. 15:25he's given you by his by his mercy and
451. 15:27Grace don't leave it stay where God put
452. 15:29you don't come out of your calling stay
453. 15:31where God put you he was so famous and
454. 15:33carrying such a command uh about his
455. 15:36ministry that the temperance movement
456. 15:37wanted him to be their candidate to have
457. 15:39a seat in the Australian Parliament at
458. 15:41first when they approached him he said
459. 15:43no um I don't want to do it I'm going to
460. 15:45stay with the Healing Ministry I want to
461. 15:46stay pastoring and speaking God's word
462. 15:48to the people they came back a second
463. 15:50time and finally he said all right I'll
464. 15:52do it so he begin to go around the
465. 15:54country and preach about the social ills
466. 15:55of drinking and morality and all of
467. 15:57these different situations that were
468. 15:59going bad in Australia how God was the
469. 16:01answer and that he would be one of the
470. 16:02one of the people spokesperson to sent
471. 16:04up for righteous in the Parliament and
472. 16:05he lost well when he lost to in the
473. 16:07Australian
474. 16:09Parliament I think his ego was a little
475. 16:11bit bruised I think uh Dr dowy had a
476. 16:13very big ego I think men of this time
477. 16:16period doing what he was doing he kind
478. 16:18of thought he was the only guy doing it
479. 16:19and ID say this for for him on this
480. 16:21point was he was probably the only guy
481. 16:23with that much popularity and that big
482. 16:25of a crowd draw probably in the world at
483. 16:27this time for the ministry of healing
484. 16:29but he decided after a while he pastored
485. 16:31there had huge crowds lost in the
486. 16:33Australian uh election he was in debt
487. 16:36had a come out of debt but he thought
488. 16:37it's time to go around the world and do
489. 16:39a World trip so he decided that he would
490. 16:41leave Australia and head for America
491. 16:43first and go through San Francisco and
492. 16:45so he got on the boat with his wife and
493. 16:47his family and headed for America now
494. 16:50this would be one of the greatest things
495. 16:51that ever happened in his life when he
496. 16:53moved from Australia to America but his
497. 16:56first intention was just to tour the
498. 16:57world and pre him the message of healing
499. 17:00and salvation and pray for the sick when
500. 17:02he got to San Francisco the newspapers
501. 17:05were talking about the Australian Faith
502. 17:06healers come to America and so he'd
503. 17:09already begin to gain popularity in
504. 17:11America and people begin to come to his
505. 17:12hotel room where he was staying and one
506. 17:15report said that the people lined up
507. 17:16down the hallway uh waiting for dowy to
508. 17:19pray for him and again he brought them
509. 17:21in one by one into his sweet where he
510. 17:23was at and he would talk to them and if
511. 17:25they didn't he didn't feel like they
512. 17:26were Christians he wouldn't pray for
513. 17:27them and so he went through several
514. 17:29people he wouldn't pray for and pretty
515. 17:31soon the newspapers begin to talk about
516. 17:33nobody's getting healed and finally
517. 17:34found a woman that had a growth in her
518. 17:36neck that uh was a believer that was a
519. 17:39sincere person that believed in God he
520. 17:41felt and he laid hands on her and prayed
521. 17:43for her and the the big growth of the
522. 17:45knot on her neck went down and that was
523. 17:47one of the first Miracles he had well of
524. 17:49course the newspapers talked about it
525. 17:50begin to be noise abroad and pretty soon
526. 17:53he began to be invited at different
527. 17:54things throughout the West Coast but at
528. 17:56the same time another interesting thing
529. 17:57was happening here The Woman by the name
530. 17:59of Maria Woodworth Eder is holding one
531. 18:02of her meetings in Oakland California
532. 18:03just across the bay from San
533. 18:06Francisco she is having one of the worst
534. 18:08meetings of her life in the sense of all
535. 18:10the persecution and opposition but he
536. 18:12heard that this little woman believed in
537. 18:14healing too so he goes over to her tent
538. 18:16meetings and sits there and meets her
539. 18:18even gets on the platform and speaks
540. 18:20highly of her and talks about how great
541. 18:22she is and how God is using the ministry
542. 18:24of healing and makes you know positive
543. 18:26remarks but something interesting
544. 18:28happens in Woodworth Eder meetings and
545. 18:29we'll be talking about that in the next
546. 18:31uh teaching here but let me give you a
547. 18:33little bit of a glimpse into her life so
548. 18:34you'll understand about what's about to
549. 18:36happen in her meetings besides healing
550. 18:38people would go out under the powers we
551. 18:40call the they being slain in the spirit
552. 18:42and uh people go into transes and they
553. 18:44would stand like statues for 30 minutes
554. 18:46an hour so then they would see heaven or
555. 18:48they would see hell or some type of
556. 18:50angelic or some type of thing that God
557. 18:51wanted to communicate to them that he
558. 18:53didn't understand now D's Ministry
559. 18:55mightly consisted of two things he
560. 18:57preached salvation he preached number
561. 18:59two healing he didn't have a lot of
562. 19:01demonstrative type of manifestations he
563. 19:03thought it was emotional fanaticism and
564. 19:06eventually Dow turned on mother Eder and
565. 19:08called it trans evangelism and said that
566. 19:11it was something of the devil and was
567. 19:12the worst deception he had seen in quite
568. 19:14some time in his life if not in his
569. 19:16entire life so the the two met became
570. 19:19friends for a season then they split and
571. 19:22became bitter enemies until the end of
572. 19:24his life she and Mr doy never were able
573. 19:27to come back into a friendship ship now
574. 19:29this brings I think one of the great
575. 19:31mistakes of do's life number one I
576. 19:33believe God arranged for mother Eder and
577. 19:36Dr doy to meet there are very few people
578. 19:38in his life and at this time that had
579. 19:40the spiritual seniority a spiritual
580. 19:42maturity that were be able to talk to
581. 19:43Dai as a man of God and understand the
582. 19:46weaknesses of human nature and the
583. 19:48strengths of the anointing most people
584. 19:50stood an awe of dowy not knowing how to
585. 19:52say no there were only Yes Men We would
586. 19:54call them today whatever he said was
587. 19:56fine whatever you want to do was fine
588. 19:58they were scared of his of the aura
589. 20:00about him I guess you could say it that
590. 20:02way but mother Eder was the one that was
591. 20:04mature enough understood the message of
592. 20:06healing understood the anointing
593. 20:07understood the whole aspect of ministry
594. 20:10and life to the point where she could
595. 20:12look at Dow and say that's not right
596. 20:14that's a problem this needs to change
597. 20:15that's not quite in order as it's
598. 20:18supposed to be according to scripture
599. 20:19but I believe the devil stepped in there
600. 20:21and aborted a Divine relationship and
601. 20:23let me encourage you here many of you
602. 20:26God will arrange for you to meet people
603. 20:27in your life and these Divine
604. 20:29relationships are very few throughout
605. 20:30your life and they are the hardest ones
606. 20:32to hold on to and to hold fast to
607. 20:34throughout your life the devil will work
608. 20:36more in in trying to abort and to
609. 20:40annihilate and to destroy a Divine
610. 20:42relationship a Divine relationship
611. 20:44number one is does not focus on the
612. 20:46natural sides of life as its first
613. 20:48priority it focuses upon what the
614. 20:50spiritual thing growth the principles of
615. 20:53of what you're learning in the spirit
616. 20:54impartation keeping check in balances uh
617. 20:58encourage when you're down praying for
618. 21:00you discussing the deeper things of God
619. 21:02it is a Divine relationship and many
620. 21:04times people have assumed their
621. 21:06practical relationships people that have
622. 21:08say well this is my golfing buddy or
623. 21:09this is who I go shopping with or this
624. 21:11is who I vacation with this family and
625. 21:13my family vacation together well those
626. 21:15are all good and they're all fine but
627. 21:17they're not always a Divine relationship
628. 21:19sometimes a Divine relationship will
629. 21:20just be the spiritual matters and all
630. 21:22the other natural side will not be
631. 21:23something that you'd enjoy doing with
632. 21:25that same person sometimes it might be
633. 21:27and if it is something you enjoy doing
634. 21:28with them in the natural you have to
635. 21:30make sure that does not take the
636. 21:32leadership or the dominance in that
637. 21:34relationship how many times have people
638. 21:36met the right person that God put in
639. 21:38their life but for whatever reason the
640. 21:39devil aborted it or they got it out of
641. 21:41order and it began to cause great
642. 21:43trouble and later in life they suffer
643. 21:45for it when a Divine relationship is
644. 21:47aborted there's always suffering
645. 21:49especially on the the one younger part
646. 21:52to the senior one there's always a
647. 21:54suffering to it D was the younger mother
648. 21:56was the senior she was like the mother
649. 21:58Israel kind of uh person in this time
650. 22:01period and the devil worked over time to
651. 22:03abort this relationship well D continued
652. 22:06preaching throughout the west coast and
653. 22:07finally he decided he'd move on into the
654. 22:09Midwest and went to the second largest
655. 22:11city in America at this time called
656. 22:13Chicago at the same time he went to
657. 22:15Chicago it was the same year that the
658. 22:17World's Fair was occurring there so he
659. 22:19decided what better place to preach the
660. 22:21message of Salvation healing then right
661. 22:23outside the front door of the World's
662. 22:25Fair so he built what is called the
663. 22:27little wooden h Hut he got this little
664. 22:29building constructed it and began to
665. 22:31hold daily meetings and evening meetings
666. 22:33there and at first no one paid much
667. 22:35attention to it who wants to go to
668. 22:37church and hear a preacher when the
669. 22:39World's Fair is only 15t from the door
670. 22:41of the church with all the rides the
671. 22:43latest invention all the world stuff is
672. 22:45there all your friends there you want to
673. 22:47go see the fair but as the time keeps
674. 22:50passing pretty soon the noise about
675. 22:52healings and deliverances begin to be a
676. 22:55main topic of discussion throughout this
677. 22:57whole time period the World's Fair so
678. 22:59people begin to come to his church and
679. 23:01sit there and wait to see the
680. 23:03Miracles Chicago was a very interesting
681. 23:06City it was a spiritual Hub environment
682. 23:08for this time period Chicago became the
683. 23:11city of of the leading spiritual
684. 23:14activities in this city you have doy as
685. 23:16a spiritual mayor you have DL Moody
686. 23:18across town as the world evangelist and
687. 23:20the two didn't get along because you
688. 23:22know Moody was a Salvation preacher
689. 23:24which is tremendous to be but that's the
690. 23:25only thing he preached die was salvation
691. 23:27and healing he also worked apostolically
692. 23:30where DL Moody was mainly just
693. 23:31Evangelistic and so the two had a few
694. 23:33conflicts throughout the time period of
695. 23:35living there and never really joined or
696. 23:37never really had much of a friendship
697. 23:40but dowy was the spiritual mayor of
698. 23:42Chicago just like there's a natural
699. 23:44mayor I believe there are spiritual
700. 23:45Mayers uh uh for cities around the world
701. 23:48and so Dar was there so he moved into
702. 23:50the City and decided this is where he
703. 23:52was going to set up his world
704. 23:53headquarters he had decided to go around
705. 23:55the world he said but Chicago is where
706. 23:56God wants me to be Chicago is where God
707. 23:58wants me to establish my headquarters so
708. 24:00he began what they call the healing
709. 24:02homes now in today's Christianity we
710. 24:04don't know much about that we have
711. 24:05healing Services we have Miracle rallies
712. 24:08but he had what he called healing homes
713. 24:10now what they were were homes that he
714. 24:12had bought that was probably several
715. 24:13stories high with rooms in them where
716. 24:16the sick could come now for you to come
717. 24:18in and take up one of the rooms in Do's
718. 24:20healing homes would be you have to leave
719. 24:22all the medication all the doctor's
720. 24:24instructions outside he did not allow
721. 24:26any medicine or you could not follow any
722. 24:28of the doctor's instruction because you
723. 24:30come trusting God alone and so you came
724. 24:32in there they gave you a room and what
725. 24:34they did they sent one of the spiritual
726. 24:36nurses by as you could call them they
727. 24:38would pray for you read the scriptures
728. 24:39to you and if you could be moved they
729. 24:41would take you to the special services
730. 24:43and the chapels in the home as well as
731. 24:45in the church that he also had started
732. 24:46well of course the people in in the city
733. 24:49there was one that did not like The
734. 24:51Healing Ministry they did not like what
735. 24:53he stood for they didn't like his
736. 24:55personality but at the same time he was
737. 24:57a man that begin to say well I don't
738. 24:59care what you like or not when you
739. 25:00govern a city that City you cannot obey
740. 25:03they start to obey you you've got to
741. 25:05Buck four major Power Systems you got to
742. 25:07Buck the media system you got to Buck
743. 25:09the financial system the political
744. 25:10system and the religious belief system
745. 25:12which you begin to do as a spiritual
746. 25:14mayor he built a church and began to
747. 25:16become one of the main churches and not
748. 25:18the main church and it grew into
749. 25:20thousands and what we have here that we
750. 25:22have found in my hunting and researching
751. 25:24is a a little wax recording we found
752. 25:27from the early 19 1800s of the people
753. 25:30they singing uh in the
754. 25:33[Music]
755. 25:51services ROM of
756. 25:56jeh and
757. 25:58[Music]
758. 26:00shall with joy
759. 26:03andad receive the
760. 26:07promise then tell every tribe and Nation
761. 26:12out of every
762. 26:15land and
763. 26:26[Music]
764. 26:53[Music]
765. 26:54[Applause]
766. 26:56theing the City of Chicago did not at
767. 26:59first like Dr dowy they arrested him a
768. 27:02hundred times in one year for practicing
769. 27:04medicine without a license that was one
770. 27:06way they thought they could wear him
771. 27:08down and push him out of Chicago and get
772. 27:10this false preacher this faith healer
773. 27:13out of business and out of their
774. 27:14Community but when you're under an
775. 27:16Apostolic anointing the more pressure
776. 27:19you're under the more you come alive so
777. 27:21the more they fought him and the more
778. 27:22they came against him in the papers and
779. 27:24arrested him they thought they keep
780. 27:25arresting him after church before church
781. 27:28and knew when he come out of his house
782. 27:29for practicing with without a license
783. 27:31that they would actually wear him down
784. 27:32and he just paid the $5 fine and leave
785. 27:35but he didn't so he took it all the way
786. 27:36to court he kept fighting it and
787. 27:38fighting until he took it to the court
788. 27:39now the Brilliance of Da is something
789. 27:41that we should look at here the man was
790. 27:43a genius he was not just a an articulate
791. 27:46anointed person but he had a mind that
792. 27:47was sharp he hired a lawyer to tell him
793. 27:50what the law book said but he
794. 27:52represented himself and spoke for
795. 27:54himself because he knew the lawyer could
796. 27:55not represent him correctly so for over
797. 27:58a 100 times in one year they arrested
798. 28:00him and finally won the case and this is
799. 28:02one of the first cases in American
800. 28:04history where he begin to change the law
801. 28:06where you and I can lay hands on sick
802. 28:09people in the name of Jesus and pray for
803. 28:10them and not be arrested for practicing
804. 28:13medicine without a license he was one of
805. 28:15the first men in American history to
806. 28:17begin to break that law and change it to
807. 28:19where we can be free to practice the
808. 28:21Prayer of Healing for the sick and not
809. 28:23be in trouble with the natural laws of
810. 28:25the lamb now D also had begun a magazine
811. 28:28called the leaves of healing he
812. 28:30published it weekly and sent it out to
813. 28:32all of his friends and partners and
814. 28:33people that wanted to be on the midd
815. 28:35list all over America and around the
816. 28:36world so the second attack came to him
817. 28:39from the you from the Chicago postmaster
818. 28:42they wanted to remove his nonprofit
819. 28:43meling status so he fought in the
820. 28:45Chicago courts and lost he went all the
821. 28:47way he could to the highest court there
822. 28:49in Chicago and finally he could not win
823. 28:51so he said well I'm going to go to
824. 28:52Washington DC and I'm going to talk to
825. 28:54the Postmaster General head of all the
826. 28:56post offices in America so he went out
827. 28:58to Washington DC to talk with them and
828. 29:01tell them what was going on L his case
829. 29:02before them which he won but here's what
830. 29:04happened while there President McKinley
831. 29:06heard that dowy was in Washington and
832. 29:08decided that he wanted to meet him and
833. 29:10so the president came out of a cabinet
834. 29:12meeting to meet this healing minister in
835. 29:14Chicago who' become noted for the great
836. 29:17Miracles as well as the great
837. 29:18controversies if you're going to go into
838. 29:20the ministry of healing you going have
839. 29:21to be willing to have great glory and
840. 29:23great persecution they go hand in hand
841. 29:25you cannot have one without the other
842. 29:27they go together and so while D was
843. 29:30speaking with President McKinley he
844. 29:32began to observe and fell in his spirit
845. 29:33that there was uh danger around the
846. 29:36president and felt like his security was
847. 29:38not tight enough and even spoke to his
848. 29:40church when he came back let's pray for
849. 29:42the president because I feel like there
850. 29:44is going to be an attempt on his life
851. 29:45and the security is so relaxed that it
852. 29:47may be successful well as we all know
853. 29:49President McKinley was shot and uh what
854. 29:52do perceived and what do talked about
855. 29:53was actually came to pass and he felt
856. 29:56that in his heart I I I think many times
857. 29:59men of the spirit can pick up things
858. 30:00even with those who don't know anything
859. 30:02about God and God puts them in places to
860. 30:04warn them like he did the president but
861. 30:06sometimes if the men listening does not
862. 30:08obey or take heed to it then my friend
863. 30:11uh tragedy comes to them the same is
864. 30:12true with a lot of people uh when God's
865. 30:14trying to share something with them and
866. 30:16God's trying to warn them through
867. 30:17scripture through a person of credible
868. 30:20reputation saying don't do this or be
869. 30:22aware of this and they don't listen then
870. 30:23at that point in time God says well
871. 30:25you've decided not to listen to me you
872. 30:27just go ahead and do what you you think
873. 30:28is right and when you come back to me
874. 30:30I'll help you recover from all the mess
875. 30:32that you're in so I guess the president
876. 30:34got into a little bit of a mess and lost
877. 30:35his life at this particular time in
878. 30:37Chicago the city of Chicago begin to
879. 30:39realize they cannot get rid of doy and
880. 30:42history tells us that every person that
881. 30:44came against Dr do uh either died was
882. 30:46impr prisoned or moved out of the city
883. 30:48in a matter of a few months after they
884. 30:50begin to oppose him he became the
885. 30:52governor of the city even the political
886. 30:54people running for uh offices in the
887. 30:56council and in the the mayor's office
888. 30:58wanted to cater and get doubt his
889. 31:00approval because whoever he approved
890. 31:02would win he carried that kind of weight
891. 31:03and influence he was reading one day in
892. 31:06a newspaper about a young man that was
893. 31:09on death row and they were going to uh
894. 31:11execute him for the crimes he committed
895. 31:13and he read what the man said he said I
896. 31:15never had a chance to get my right my
897. 31:17life in order his parents were criminals
898. 31:19and and people that were always in doing
899. 31:22the bad things and in and out of jail
900. 31:23and so the child grew up only knowing
901. 31:25that and so when actually he committed
902. 31:26the crime that caused his execution his
903. 31:29last words was I never had a chance no
904. 31:30one taught me anything different that so
905. 31:32moved the heart of Dr Dow he said well
906. 31:35that will never happen again in my city
907. 31:37I love how he said my city there's
908. 31:40something about a governing ship that
909. 31:41you have been placed in your heart that
910. 31:43the apostolic gifts have that this is
911. 31:45his City his people they Pastor
912. 31:47everybody in the town so he created a
913. 31:49group called the 70s and what they were
914. 31:52were people that he had trained and
915. 31:53taught how to minister and their job was
916. 31:55to go to Every home uh in the city and
917. 31:58pray for them give them one of his
918. 32:00magazines about leaves of heing tell
919. 32:01them how to get saved and do their best
920. 32:03to bring them to the knowledge of Jesus
921. 32:05Christ and during the life of Dai
922. 32:07everybody who lived in that City at the
923. 32:09time that he began to minister with the
924. 32:1170s throughout the city had somebody
925. 32:13from his church come and knock on their
926. 32:15door and speak to them and talk to them
927. 32:17and pray for them and try to bring them
928. 32:19to Salvation I hope that people
929. 32:22listening to me will have the same type
930. 32:23of Burden it's not an impossible feat
931. 32:25for people to organize people who love
932. 32:27Jesus and said we're going to go out and
933. 32:29minister to the people the problem has
934. 32:31been in our church world today is we
935. 32:32live inside of the four walls and we
936. 32:34critique the pastor we critique the song
937. 32:36leader we critique this person and that
938. 32:38person and what we become is Spectators
939. 32:41and not participants I sometimes use the
940. 32:43illustration of a big football game and
941. 32:45the fans are up there in the in in the
942. 32:47in the seats and the stands and they're
943. 32:48saying do this and and do that and
944. 32:50they're yelling at the player but
945. 32:51there's a big difference between the
946. 32:53person in the stands and the person down
947. 32:54on the field the person on the field has
948. 32:57all those guys run running to push them
949. 32:59on the ground and lay on top of them and
950. 33:00grab the ball from them they're a little
951. 33:03bit different Viewpoint when you're down
952. 33:04there in the real in the real battle and
953. 33:06so many times if people do not keep
954. 33:08being active and doing the ministry they
955. 33:10become a religious critic and so many
956. 33:12people have to be careful that they
957. 33:14begin to do the ministry and not
958. 33:15criticize those who are doing it because
959. 33:17when you're doing it you're so glad
960. 33:19somebody else is doing it as well D was
961. 33:22about to start one of the biggest
962. 33:23mistakes of his life on the New Year's
963. 33:25Eve service of 1899 as he into the 1900s
964. 33:29he had two big huge pictures that was
965. 33:31covered by canvas on the platform of his
966. 33:33Auditorium his church was packed out for
967. 33:35that New Year's Eve service and he
968. 33:37announced that night that he was going
969. 33:38to build a city he's going to call the
970. 33:41city named Zion he had gone up to 40
971. 33:44miles north of Chicago and had bought
972. 33:466,600 acres of land and this is going to
973. 33:49be a city that he was going to build for
974. 33:51the righteous there'll be the people
975. 33:52that could come and be free from all the
976. 33:54worldly uh spirits and all the worldly
977. 33:57pulls and there'd be no vexation of the
978. 33:59Christian soul and it' be a Christian
979. 34:01Utopia as we may call it today it in
980. 34:04history is the longest surviving Utopia
981. 34:06ever known in the history of man but as
982. 34:08we all know the Bible did not say go
983. 34:10build me a city he said go into all the
984. 34:12world and preach the gospel he made two
985. 34:14major mistakes here as he begin this
986. 34:16number one he left the city where God
987. 34:18put him called Chicago Illinois he also
988. 34:20begin to go from The Healing Ministry
989. 34:22back into business cuz when you build a
990. 34:24city you got to be all the business
991. 34:26required he became the mayor he became
992. 34:28the banker the editor of the newspaper
993. 34:30he helped head up the schools he was the
994. 34:31only Pastor in church in town he was
995. 34:34everything in this particular City now
996. 34:36when I first make these statements you
997. 34:37may think well that is not quite going
998. 34:39to make it the first year of Zion had
999. 34:41only had 5,000 citizens in it the second
1000. 34:44year of Zion had over 10,000 citizens
1001. 34:47living in the city it was a major
1002. 34:50accomplishment even the people that was
1003. 34:52his persecutors in Chicago began to
1004. 34:54admire this man what he could pull off
1005. 34:56even Teddy Roosevelt and spent a few
1006. 34:58days in Dai with DOI in his home there
1007. 35:00in Zion Illinois he is popular he was
1008. 35:03the world's most famous faith healer he
1009. 35:06carried the mantle for that particular
1010. 35:08generation and he built a city called
1011. 35:10Zion the streets are called Hallelujah
1012. 35:12Boulevard Elijah Street all the
1013. 35:14different types of biblical names that
1014. 35:15are still there today the city of Zion
1015. 35:17is still operating it's not under the
1016. 35:19same type of government as when D was
1017. 35:21alive but the streets are the same and
1018. 35:23some of the buildings are still there I
1019. 35:24was there a few years ago and saw it and
1020. 35:26it's kind of uh takes your mind back a
1021. 35:28little bit to think that just a in the
1022. 35:30early 1900s man built a city with over
1023. 35:3210,000 people in it and he controlled
1024. 35:35everything and there would be Billboards
1025. 35:36up and down the street if you don't like
1026. 35:38certain things you can go someplace else
1027. 35:40so he was not at all bashful about
1028. 35:41telling you this is the city this is the
1029. 35:43way we run it if you don't like it go
1030. 35:44back to Chicago or go someplace else now
1031. 35:47the people in this city came from all
1032. 35:49over the world all over America
1033. 35:50different countries of the world to be
1034. 35:52in a city where God was in total control
1035. 35:55where the people of God was in charge
1036. 35:57for example
1037. 35:58when there would be a whistle blow or
1038. 35:59the church bells would ring and the
1039. 36:01whole city Zion would stop for a moment
1040. 36:03of Silent prayer can you imagine when
1041. 36:05you'd hear the whistleblow and the
1042. 36:07church bell rings that everybody on the
1043. 36:09street corner the the shop clerks in the
1044. 36:11stores people in the B would stop kneel
1045. 36:14or stand there in silent prayer for so
1046. 36:16many moments and then everybody go back
1047. 36:18about their business that's how they
1048. 36:19govern the city now people say well I'd
1049. 36:21like that well I'd hope you would but
1050. 36:23the same way God did not call us to live
1051. 36:25in a little world where we're outside of
1052. 36:27the world we're called to be witnesses
1053. 36:29to the world go into all the world and
1054. 36:31preach the gospel so D made two
1055. 36:32fundamental mistakes he disobeyed the
1056. 36:34Great Commission by trying to build a
1057. 36:36world uh that he can control and the
1058. 36:38devil wouldn't be there and the people
1059. 36:39would just stay there and wait for the
1060. 36:41coming of the Lord and the second thing
1061. 36:42that he left the city of Chicago where
1062. 36:44God had called him to be the spiritual
1063. 36:46mayor and Governor but the city begin to
1064. 36:48grow they begin to have you know the big
1065. 36:50hotel begin to go up the church at c,
1066. 36:52Thousand winds up the lace factories
1067. 36:54went up he got the railroad to bring
1068. 36:56their own track up from Chicago so they
1069. 36:58could go back and forth on the railroad
1070. 37:00had all these things begin to happen
1071. 37:02well at the same time D I begin to go
1072. 37:05through some other challenges before I
1073. 37:06get there what I like to do though is go
1074. 37:08for a few moments and talk just about
1075. 37:10his Healing Ministry some people that
1076. 37:11were healed in his ministry I think
1077. 37:13sometimes people that U uh he prayed for
1078. 37:16we would be able to relate to in church
1079. 37:17history in world history so let me give
1080. 37:19you a few of the stories one of the
1081. 37:21people that was healed in Dr DA's
1082. 37:23Ministry was John G Lake's family we'll
1083. 37:25be studying him a little bit later later
1084. 37:26in the series
1085. 37:28but Blake said in his life he remember
1086. 37:29as a young child hearses caskets nurses
1087. 37:33and all the things that go around people
1088. 37:35dying but when he met Dr da he be to
1089. 37:37send telegrams to D to pray for his
1090. 37:39relatives to pray for his wife and they
1091. 37:41begin to get healed and actually down uh
1092. 37:43Lakes Healing Ministry began because
1093. 37:45people begin to hear that Lake's family
1094. 37:46was getting healed and they came to him
1095. 37:48to get prayer So eventually John Lake
1096. 37:50left the west coast and came to live and
1097. 37:53became one of the elders in DA's Church
1098. 37:55in Zion another person that was healed
1099. 37:57uh in Do's Ministry is Buffalo Bill's
1100. 37:59niece uh he had a little running with
1101. 38:01Buffalo Bill during the World's Fair
1102. 38:03because he kept trying to have church in
1103. 38:04the little wooden Hut and Buffalo Bill
1104. 38:06kept having his guns go off and his
1105. 38:07Indians through their war cries and run
1106. 38:09through the world's for air and hinder
1107. 38:10his service so he felt like he had
1108. 38:12Revenge when his niece bu Bill's niece
1109. 38:14came and was healed five doctors had
1110. 38:16told her she' never be able to live she
1111. 38:18was in a body cast he prayed for her and
1112. 38:20she got up and was healed Abraham
1113. 38:22Lincoln's niece was also healed she came
1114. 38:24doctors did not know what was wrong with
1115. 38:26her but he prayed for her Dr doy did she
1116. 38:28got up and was healed another famous
1117. 38:31lady Minister that was a medical doctor
1118. 38:32by the name of lilan yman was healed she
1119. 38:35had become addicted to uh certain
1120. 38:37medications and her life was all going
1121. 38:40down here physically because of her
1122. 38:41addiction went to Dr Do's Ministry he
1123. 38:43prayed for her the addiction broke and
1124. 38:45she actually became a Full Gospel
1125. 38:47Minister that we have some of her books
1126. 38:48around the day that we read and then she
1127. 38:50was healed and delivered and brought
1128. 38:51into The Healing Ministry uh through Dr
1129. 38:53dowy we also have a few other little
1130. 38:56stories that I think you may find
1131. 38:57interesting that we pulled from our
1132. 38:59files of Dr Do's life we have uh his
1133. 39:02janitor that he had take care of the
1134. 39:04facilities had been getting sick in his
1135. 39:06stomach AA he'd been taking medicine and
1136. 39:08and that wouldn't work and kept going on
1137. 39:10finally his wife uh found Dr D as he's
1138. 39:12walking through the church one day and
1139. 39:14asked Dr D would you pray for so and so
1140. 39:16my husband uh because he has a a
1141. 39:19digestive problem and so Dr D prayed for
1142. 39:21him and uh as soon as he finished
1143. 39:23praying the man went to the restroom and
1144. 39:26and this sounds kind of gross but but
1145. 39:28but a 18t tape wom came out of his
1146. 39:31insides and he was healed and they
1147. 39:34actually put it in a jar and you'll see
1148. 39:35it there on the screen I thought that
1149. 39:37may be something you'll never forget or
1150. 39:38never have seen before CU I'd never seen
1151. 39:40or heard of that before but Dar also
1152. 39:42liked the ability to display uh the
1153. 39:44discarded crutches and uh canes and
1154. 39:47stretchers and you'll see here in some
1155. 39:49of the other pictures of him up on a
1156. 39:50wall and he'll spill out Christ all and
1157. 39:52all and it put them all around his
1158. 39:54church as a great uh testimony that God

1161. 40:02some fundamental mistakes as I said a
1162. 40:03moment ago he left Chicago where God put
1163. 40:05him he moved to Zion built a city where
1164. 40:07we have to admire him for what he did in
1165. 40:09establishing that City but in doing so
1166. 40:12he was more involved in business Than
1167. 40:13The Healing Ministry which was a
1168. 40:15consistent problem throughout his life
1169. 40:16when he left the Healing Ministry he
1170. 40:18went into financial trouble he began to
1171. 40:19go into difficulty but then he also
1172. 40:21begin to go into some other problems he
1173. 40:23declared himself Elijah Elijah the
1174. 40:25restorer then he also declared himself
1175. 40:27self the first Apostle of the Christian
1176. 40:29Catholic Church which was the
1177. 40:30denomination that he was a part of then
1178. 40:31he be to dress up in his high Priestly
1179. 40:33Road he be to go off his wife left him
1180. 40:36uh never divorced but separated from him
1181. 40:38during this period of his life Dr doy
1182. 40:41made some fundamental mistakes in the
1183. 40:43beginning what were some of his mistakes
1184. 40:45that made him make these tragic airs to
1185. 40:47why today you don't know much about him
1186. 40:49probably today this is the first time
1187. 40:51you hearing about this great Apostle of
1188. 40:53healing the first time you ever knew
1189. 40:54this man existed and what he did over
1190. 40:56100 50 ministers came out from his
1191. 40:59ministry into the early Pentecostal
1192. 41:01movement like FF Bosworth was trained
1193. 41:03and came out of D Raymond T Richie
1194. 41:04Gordon Lindy's family moved to be a part
1195. 41:07of the Zion uh uh City there some of our
1196. 41:09great leaders of the early Pentecostal
1197. 41:11mov came forth out of Dai but why did he
1198. 41:13make his fundamental mistakes why did he
1199. 41:15think he was Elijah why do he think he
1200. 41:17was the first Apostle why did he get
1201. 41:18involved in his high Priestly uh mindset
1202. 41:21why he began to have visions of grandeur
1203. 41:23one of his problems was he actually
1204. 41:25wanted to build Zion all the world and
1205. 41:27he had plans prepared to buy Jerusalem
1206. 41:29back from the Turks and make that his
1207. 41:31headquarters of Zion and prepare the
1208. 41:33city for the coming of the Lord the man
1209. 41:35just went not a little off but way off
1210. 41:38now that's why people don't want to talk
1211. 41:39much about him but I think that's where
1212. 41:41we need to talk because people still
1213. 41:43make mistakes maybe not on the same
1214. 41:44scale but they make the same kind of
1215. 41:46mistakes here are some of the situations
1216. 41:48and principles we can learn from his
1217. 41:49life number one dowy had no counsel
1218. 41:51around him all the people around about
1219. 41:53him were yes men and scared of him and
1220. 41:55afraid of his personality and his
1221. 41:58temperament and probably the power that
1222. 42:00he carried the man that actually
1223. 42:01succeeded D after his ey went through
1224. 42:03financial difficulties was Volvo who was
1225. 42:06a man that begin to teach that the world
1226. 42:07was fat when we were had proven for
1227. 42:09hundreds of years that it was round so
1228. 42:11to me that says something why would you
1229. 42:13have a right-hand man who was teaching
1230. 42:15and believed that the world was flat
1231. 42:17when the world was actually around and
1232. 42:18proven scientifically that it was so
1233. 42:20that's because you don't care about what
1234. 42:23they think you just like the yes ability
1235. 42:24inside of them Dr di never had the right
1236. 42:28counsel lost his Divine relationship
1237. 42:29with Mother Eder number two he was a
1238. 42:31worker he was a tireless worker one man
1239. 42:34said in his writings about Dr D knew him
1240. 42:36to work 46 hours non-stop with no sleep
1241. 42:38and keep on going he had that ability
1242. 42:41that talking about self motivation he
1243. 42:42had that but here's another great point
1244. 42:44you cannot go beyond the mental and
1245. 42:46physical capacities uh of your physical
1246. 42:49man so many people get into the spirit
1247. 42:50and they can keep going because a spirit
1248. 42:52man does not grow weary like the mind
1249. 42:54and the body does but if you don't take
1250. 42:55care of the mind and the body it will
1251. 42:57affect your ministry and bring it to a
1252. 42:59close eventually da had a stroke he was
1253. 43:01taken from the platform they thought he
1254. 43:03could do better and recuperate better if
1255. 43:04he went to some warmer climate so he
1256. 43:06went to Jamaica and tried to rest there
1257. 43:08and begin to gain some physical health
1258. 43:10back but Zion as I said was in financial
1259. 43:12difficulties so they voted him out of
1260. 43:14power and vulvo and the people around
1261. 43:16him came into Power die of course went
1262. 43:19to courts and begin to fuss and to fight
1263. 43:21and never again was able to actually
1264. 43:22have leadership of Zion he died as
1265. 43:24you'll see this picture the last known
1266. 43:26picture in a wheel chair on front of his
1267. 43:28front porch of his house he died with
1268. 43:30his wife not a part of his life his son
1269. 43:33disowned him and became a minister of
1270. 43:35Evangelical denomination and only made
1271. 43:37one comment that I can find about him
1272. 43:39that my father was a very sincere man
1273. 43:41but had a great ability to be highly
1274. 43:43deceived uh Dr dowy was a man that I
1275. 43:46think we should admire that we should
1276. 43:47honor but we should also learn from his
1277. 43:49mistakes many of you will be called of
1278. 43:51God to do great feats but what kind of
1279. 43:52counsel do you have around about you are
1280. 43:54you going beyond your physical abilities
1281. 43:56and and rest RS are you changing offices
1282. 43:58at will are you leaving while is working
1283. 44:01to go do something that your soul wants
1284. 44:02to do so many times people do that
1285. 44:05because their mind gets bored or they
1286. 44:07get tired of what they're doing stay
1287. 44:08where God called you stay where God put
1288. 44:10you and don't leave until God tells you
1289. 44:12to and if you don't tell you stay right
1290. 44:14there he built a city and disobeyed the
1291. 44:16Great Commission and taken all that
1292. 44:18money he should have trained ministers
1293. 44:19and built churches All Over America all
1294. 44:21over the world and send them people out
1295. 44:23to do the great works of the Great
1296. 44:24Commission but he didn't do that he got
1297. 44:26caught up in business sometimes his
1298. 44:28intelligence seemed to be his own
1299. 44:30problem too he was so smart and so he
1300. 44:32thought he could do anything but you can
1301. 44:34only do what God tells you to do I don't
1302. 44:35care how rich you are how smart you are
1303. 44:37how intelligent you are what I want to
1304. 44:39do here for a few moments we've also
1305. 44:41found some recordings of him preaching
1306. 44:43and sharing at his church so what I'd
1307. 44:45like to do for the next few moments is
1308. 44:46let you hear Dr dowy it comes from a wax
