- 0:01I had a chance to meet Glenn Ford at one
- 0:04time he was the longest-serving death
- 0:06row inmate in the country he was
- 0:08exonerated after nearly 30 years at
- 0:11Angola on death row I was one of the
- 0:14last reporters to speak with him before
- 0:16he died you see the reality is he was
- 0:19free but really not free his 15 months
- 0:23of Freedom was short-lived because of
- 0:25terminal lung cancer during my
- 0:27conversation with Glenn you could tell
- 0:29he was in pain and he was tired
- 0:32but the one thing that Glenn wanted
- 0:34people to know is that he was indeed
- 0:36innocent of killing a Shreveport Jeweler
- 0:39back in the 1980s in fact he said he
- 0:41knew Mr Isidore Rossman and often had
- 0:44coffee with him
- 0:45prosecutors agreed after getting new
- 0:47information that Glenn did not kill Mr
- 0:50Rossman but they still refused to pay
- 0:53him the compensation they say he knew
- 0:55about the crime and that he didn't call
- 0:56police so in the end Glenn still fought
- 1:00a death sentence with terminal lung
- 1:02cancer on Monday he died peacefully
- 1:05surrounded by people who cared for him
- 1:07and people who loved him lawyers say
- 1:10they will not give up the fight to get
- 1:12Glenn the money he has owed even after
- 1:15his death you see the state is fighting
- 1:17that but Thursday night at six I'll
- 1:19introduce you to a Texas woman a
- 1:21national columnist who says it's time
- 1:23for Louisiana to do the right thing and
- 1:25give Glenn Ford his money even after
- 1:28death and change their compensation laws
- 1:31once and for all
