1. 0:05life changed for me in the increments of
2. 0:09just minutes and then seconds I didn't
3. 0:16know it was a terrorist bomb attacks
4. 0:17when I woke up in hospital so for me for
5. 0:21all of us that that's all it was
6. 0:29remember we all have a little peek
7. 0:31underneath the sheets just to see how
8. 0:33long the stumps were and what they were
9. 0:35looking like we were already starting to
10. 0:37think well is there enough length to
11. 0:39make her walking a viable option and for
12. 0:43prosthetic we haven't that the
13. 0:47consultant was very clear to me in
14. 0:49intensive care he said you walk out of
15. 0:50here and I I guess for me it was about
16. 0:54trusting them
17. 0:57so we started early in intensive care so
18. 1:00liaison with the therapist they're
19. 1:02making sure that she could get from
20. 1:03lying to sit in and maintain our own
21. 1:05sitting balance reaching those kind of
22. 1:08things they concentrated on building my
23. 1:10core building my confidence and then
24. 1:14I've been working on how to get my
25. 1:16balance right it's all about trust so
26. 1:20I'm looking at them and having to take
27. 1:22that leap of faith of trust that they
28. 1:26will not only ensure that I I do walk
29. 1:30but that if I fall they're there I think
30. 1:35for every empty it's an emotional time
31. 1:38when they first stand up there's often a
32. 1:41lump in everybody's throat with Athens
33. 1:43and then when you get your own leg and
34. 1:45you're walking around on that ought to
35. 1:47in a case there is a bigger pits a big
36. 1:50moment because it's it's almost like
37. 1:52that's start of the rest of your life
38. 1:54that was always there and I was always
39. 1:57holding his hand and when I held his
40. 2:00hand I thought I was invincible I can do
41. 2:02anything is I yeah let's make me run you
42. 2:05know um but Matt clearly had to wean me
43. 2:08off because I couldn't live my life with
44. 2:10Matt and we ended up on one session in
45. 2:14the gym and he was just holding on to my
46. 2:16pinky finger and then he let go and I
47. 2:19was concentrating so hard that he just
48. 2:22said from a distance Jill you're doing
49. 2:24it you've built that report for such a
50. 2:27long time and you've been through big
51. 2:29steps to get where you are and it's that
52. 2:32kind of final letting go bit so I
53. 2:36suppose it's that you know you go from
54. 2:38clutching to hold into resting two to
55. 2:42nothing and then they're on their own
56. 2:43when I left hospital as a very beautiful
57. 2:46gesture he photocopied his hands and he
58. 2:50said there you'll never have to worry
59. 2:52that you're out in the real world
60. 2:54because you can just be a put my hands
61. 2:56up all throughout your house and you'll
62. 2:59always be okay
63. 3:00I think she's very special pretty
64. 3:03remarkable lady but amazed how a
65. 3:07motivated she's and how positive and how
66. 3:10much positive energy she just radiates
67. 3:13and how hard she is working and she
68. 3:17finds nothing to heart I think for me
69. 3:20the very point that my life was saved
70. 3:23and that I had been able to go on to
71. 3:27create another life really has met what
72. 3:31still hasn't left me two and a half
73. 3:32years later she's very important to me
74. 3:36she's also a marker of what my body's
75. 3:40been able to do and that again I find
76. 3:44extraordinary I've managed to have 37
77. 3:47weeks of being completely mobile and
78. 3:50then the birth that we wanted at the end
79. 3:53of it so fantastic they expecting you
80. 3:57know baby does the happiest time of
81. 3:59their life and and the Whitney partner
82. 4:02when they in pain and you held them you
83. 4:04make the difference they just just be
84. 4:07just so happy and seeing the difference
85. 4:10is just amazing for me it's just such a
86. 4:13great motivation for me to keep going
87. 4:15and working I just absolutely love my
88. 4:17job people like that people like Elena
89. 4:20just to me epitomize what it means to be
90. 4:23visio so medical role is about making
91. 4:26sure we have life a physios role is
92. 4:29making sure we have a quality of life
93. 4:31and that quality to me makes the
94. 4:35difference
