2. 0:02on Sky News over the past hundred days
3. 0:05you've conducted a phenomenal awareness
4. 0:08campaign which has led to various
5. 0:11possible sightings which have later been
6. 0:14dismissed just take us through the
7. 0:16emotional experience you go through from
8. 0:18the moment that someone says I'm
9. 0:20definite that I've seen Madelyn - when
10. 0:22it's discounted I mean the main thing
11. 0:25for us is known if the sighting is
12. 0:26credible or not really to be honest we
13. 0:29don't go through that emotional roller
14. 0:32coaster with regards to the sightings
15. 0:35you know the only thing that we'll be
16. 0:37happy for is when we know it's
17. 0:38definitely Madelyn but we don't go
18. 0:39through the ups and downs of that I mean
19. 0:41the reassuring thing for us is that it
20. 0:43implies that people are still looking at
21. 0:45Madelyn and that's that's really
22. 0:46important and encouraging
23. 0:48I think it's self-protection really then
24. 0:50if you got up and down like now all the
25. 0:53time you just wouldn't be able to
26. 0:55function so it comes back as kids has to
27. 0:57the credibility that's been a tough week
28. 1:00for you the Portuguese press in
29. 1:02particular seemed to be conducting what
30. 1:04could be described as a smear campaign
31. 1:06against you and attempting to put the
32. 1:09blame of Madeline's disappearance on you
33. 1:11where are they getting this information
34. 1:13from and how do you react to it
35. 1:18hey we don't read Portuguese so I think
36. 1:22that's the first thing to say that we
37. 1:24haven't read their accounts first hand
38. 1:26that does seem to be a consistency this
39. 1:30week and claims from police sources but
40. 1:34to be perfectly frank we don't know how
41. 1:36much of that is true and how much of it
42. 1:38speculation what we do know is that
43. 1:41speculation certainly doesn't help us we
44. 1:45know a number of the facts and I have
45. 1:50not seen any evidence or know of any
46. 1:53direct evidence to have changed our view
47. 1:56point to what we've held for the last
48. 1:58hundred days and you know we've said all
49. 2:02along and everything we've done during
50. 2:06in the last hundred days is focused on
51. 2:08the belief that Madeleine was alive when
52. 2:12she was abducted
53. 2:13and certainly we were encouraged in that
54. 2:16respect and everything we've done is to
55. 2:20increase the chances of heart being
56. 2:22returned I mean we've been through and I
57. 2:25going through that much pain with not
58. 2:26having muddling with us that anything
59. 2:29that's written or said really it's just
60. 2:31a minor head ling comparison and then
61. 2:34right through we still strongly want to
62. 2:38do what we believes that i think to do
63. 2:40what's the right thing for Madeline
64. 2:41what's the right thing for all of the
65. 2:43men about us to stay and we're not going
66. 2:45to be bullied into going home
67. 2:47you know we've witnessed the support
68. 2:50that you've had in luge but there is out
69. 2:54there criticism not least from your
70. 2:56hometown the website for the local
71. 3:00newspaper the comments page a barrage of
72. 3:03comments that were described a spiteful
73. 3:06of defamatory were you surprised by that
74. 3:09and how did you feel about it again I
75. 3:13haven't actually read the comments and I
76. 3:15have no idea who's written them we've
77. 3:18used the Internet to try and raise
78. 3:21Madeline's awareness I don't know who
79. 3:25the people are or what they're
80. 3:26specifically Breton other than the broad
81. 3:29towns that you've got oh no sir so
82. 3:31because that isn't written like that is
83. 3:32really unhelpful and then you know
84. 3:35whatever anyone thinks of our actions
85. 3:39ultimately you know ordinary focus is
86. 3:42trying to find Madeleine and you know
87. 3:45there's an innocent child missing that's
88. 3:47you know what anyone thinks that's the
89. 3:50key thing Madeleine is missing and we
90. 3:52are just doing your absolute best to
91. 3:55maximize the chances of her being found
92. 3:57and anything negative that that's
93. 3:59written we've had thousands to
94. 4:02counteract that I'm under him and I
95. 4:04can't I mean he probably but we've had
96. 4:06that much support from people and I
97. 4:09don't think we can say thank you enough
98. 4:11really and that's been so important and
99. 4:13that is the main thing really that
100. 4:15that's that far outweighs anything
101. 4:17negative lose itself a very relaxed
102. 4:20just say feeling resort and obviously
103. 4:23you felt relaxed and safe enough to
104. 4:25leave the children to sleep while you
105. 4:27went and ate within the complex is that
106. 4:29something that you've done on other
107. 4:31nights is it something you were getting
108. 4:32a feeling other holidaymakers were doing
109. 4:36can't really comment about you know it's
110. 4:38well knowing that we were dining at the
111. 4:40tapas bar 50 yards away and can't
112. 4:44comment too much and terms of of
113. 4:46patterns and our routines given the fact
114. 4:48that that subject to the investigation
115. 4:51before we've go to certain areas had to
116. 4:54think for one second that this was taken
117. 4:57a risk it wouldn't have happened I mean
118. 4:59that I think that says how safe we felt
119. 5:00you know I mean it was incredibly quiet
120. 5:04family-orientated
121. 5:05I'm incredibly close and you know we did
122. 5:10feel incredibly safe here and I don't I
123. 5:13mean judging on the letters that I've
124. 5:15had I mean about so many supportive
125. 5:18letters from families from other mothers
126. 5:20and they said hey you know we've done
127. 5:23that we do that you know who would have
128. 5:25ever thought that something as horrible
129. 5:27as that would happen you know I was
130. 5:29incredibly reared what's happened to us
131. 5:31but I think you know with the way we've
132. 5:35talked about it before it felt very
133. 5:37similar to dining in your garden and
134. 5:40know that you know have you ever left a
135. 5:44child unattended for any length of time
136. 5:46whether it be you're downstairs in the
137. 5:48child's upstairs so you went to the
138. 5:50garage you know if we could turn by a
139. 5:54clock you know and and rewind cause for
140. 5:58good we're just sorry we weren't there
141. 6:00at that minute in terms of staying in
142. 6:04Portugal you've both said from the start
143. 6:06that you're not going home until
144. 6:08Madeline is safely back with you are you
145. 6:11both equally as adamant about that
146. 6:13because there have been some suggestions
147. 6:15that Kate you're the one that really
148. 6:17wants to stay and Jerry perhaps not so
149. 6:20much what do you see as the benefits of
150. 6:22staying and is it true that perhaps you
151. 6:25want to stay more I think we both want
152. 6:27to find Madeline and we want to do
153. 6:29everything possible to
154. 6:31to help we felt staying close to the
155. 6:34investigation and trying to move that on
156. 6:38and cooperate was a good thing that's
157. 6:42you know this week and the week before
158. 6:45highlights how important the eyes have
159. 6:47been a lot more difficult to progress
160. 6:49things if we've been back in the UK I
161. 6:51think from some practical aspects in
162. 6:55terms of efficiency I could see benefits
163. 6:57are going home but emotionally and until
164. 7:00we've done everything and we need to
165. 7:02know what's happened is it difficult for
166. 7:04you seeing because now you know lose
167. 7:07itself is a very it's in full swing for
168. 7:10holiday season is it hard to be in your
169. 7:12situation surrounded by people on
170. 7:15holiday
171. 7:15I just think every day is hard to be
172. 7:22honest and I don't I don't think that's
173. 7:23really made it any harder for me I just
174. 7:25think every day without Madeleine is
175. 7:28it's very hard I think early on I was
176. 7:31very conscious that you know perhaps I
177. 7:33could beef Missouri the boys may have
178. 7:37been affecting other people I know is
179. 7:39not trying to force that or in the most
180. 7:42conscious of that but you know the care
181. 7:44lord kits help us keep our feet in the
182. 7:47ground and they give us a lot of joy and
183. 7:49we have to give them love and attention
184. 7:52in their deserve as well so and I you
185. 7:55know I'm not seeing other people
186. 7:57enjoying themselves I'm doing you know
187. 7:59that's the way it should be no your
188. 8:01campaign has been unprecedented what's
189. 8:03next well to mark the hundred days be
190. 8:08launching the YouTube channel I called
191. 8:11don't you forget about me which is a
192. 8:14channel for missing children and it's
193. 8:18been a lot of what going on behind the
194. 8:20scenes on that I think it's a fantastic
195. 8:22idea and we're launching in
196. 8:24collaboration obviously the
197. 8:26International Center for Missing and
198. 8:27Exploited Children and Google themselves
199. 8:29will be horse neigh at via YouTube and
200. 8:32Athene yeah incredibly supportive and
201. 8:36just welcome the idea is this an
202. 8:39indication going on at a wider scale
203. 8:41like this
204. 8:41that perhaps your hopes are fading
205. 8:44Madeleine there anyway and that you're
206. 8:46giving it you know putting it on a much
207. 8:48wider scale rather than this just being
208. 8:50about finding Madeleine about finding
209. 8:52other missing children I mean I I think
210. 8:54you know from quite early on we've
211. 8:56obviously wanted to know a little bit
212. 8:59more about the scale of the problem and
213. 9:00then I mean its massive actually I mean
214. 9:03I didn't realize how little on you
215. 9:06really and I think knowing that it's
216. 9:09very hard to turn a blind eye to it you
217. 9:11know and we just felt if there was
218. 9:14anything obviously you know I'll see at
219. 9:16the minute our priorities Madeleine but
220. 9:18we just felt if there's anything that we
221. 9:19could do that might help or the children
222. 9:22that might make the world a little bit
223. 9:24even have to tiny bit safer for children
224. 9:25then something big or just come out of
225. 9:28it I think it's a real something
226. 9:30tangible that could benefit a lot of
227. 9:32people and give it a new then tres
228. 9:34tell them missing kids as well and a
229. 9:36medium that younger people use and very
230. 9:39you know tens of millions of people use
231. 9:41YouTube they've had over 229 videos of
232. 9:44model and on it already about six weeks
233. 9:47ago so it's incredible and Kate finally
234. 9:50if Madeline could hear you now what
235. 9:54would you say to her I mean I love you
236. 9:59she knows that she knows how much I love
