  1. 0:00I mean I watch the news all the time
  2. 0:02um
  3. 0:02kind of a hobby I love my YouTube news
  4. 0:04but I saw his face and I knew I sort of
  5. 0:07recognized him a little bit because we
  6. 0:08had been Facebook friends while it was
  7. 0:10while the well the campaign was going on
  8. 0:12um so I knew what he looked like and I
  9. 0:14knew his voice and that was the only
  10. 0:16thing I knew about him and I saw him on
  11. 0:17TV and I was like
  12. 0:18I got a feeling in the pit of my stomach
  13. 0:20about this guy
  14. 0:23that is Richard ostoff who we talked
  15. 0:25about earlier this week on the show it's
  16. 0:27the veteran who had unfortunately
  17. 0:30crossed paths with George Santos before
  18. 0:33he became a politician relied on George
  19. 0:35Santos under whatever assumed name he
  20. 0:37was using at that point to raise money
  21. 0:39to help with the tumor that his dog was
  22. 0:41suffering from George Santos raised the
  23. 0:44money took the money and the dog
  24. 0:46eventually died and so now Richard
  25. 0:49osthoff who realizes who it was that he
  26. 0:52was dealing with is uh going on the news
  27. 0:54to talk about the experience we have a
  28. 0:55little bit more of his interview here
  29. 0:58what would you say to him if you
  30. 1:01if he was here now what would you say to
  31. 1:02him
  32. 1:03do you have a heart
  33. 1:07do you have a soul
  34. 1:13and he probably would lie about that
  35. 1:16I mean I I don't want you to ever hurt
  36. 1:18anybody like you hurt me again George
  37. 1:21and nobody else should ever have to go
  38. 1:22through that I almost killed myself when
  39. 1:24that dog died
  40. 1:27the entire thing just kills you to hear
  41. 1:29about it is again sometimes it's the
  42. 1:33smaller
  43. 1:35pettier crimes and lies that are I think
  44. 1:38easier for us regular people to imagine
  45. 1:41happening to us that hit the hardest
  46. 1:44like you know when presidents lie you
  47. 1:47know about a tax cut they lie about
  48. 1:49going to a war those things are so big
  49. 1:51that it's hard to really wrap your mind
  50. 1:54around it
  51. 1:55but like approaching a vet whose dog is
  52. 1:58going to die and then lying about how
  53. 2:00you're going to raise money for it and
  54. 2:02then pocketing the money and running
  55. 2:03that could happen to me it could happen
  56. 2:06to you stuff like that might have
  57. 2:08happened to you and for that person to
  58. 2:11now be sitting on the house floor just
  59. 2:15grinning about how they got away with it
  60. 2:17is just so sickening on a on a personal
  61. 2:20real level and so you feel the pain of
  62. 2:24Richard ostoff in that interview and so
  63. 2:26I'm so glad that his story is is getting
  64. 2:28coverage Richard what do you think
  65. 2:30yeah I I had never seen that interview
  66. 2:33but it's clear to me how vulnerable this
  67. 2:37person was and how they trusted someone
  68. 2:39and that person cruelly betrayed them I
  69. 2:42I agree with you I think it's it really
  70. 2:44you know I I don't think that anybody
  71. 2:46who lies casually has any place in
  72. 2:49public office but the the lie on such a
  73. 2:52personal level is like a different thing
  74. 2:54like you really feel it differently and
  75. 2:56you know it really it that that his
  76. 2:59story is very moving and I think we
  77. 3:01really have to ask like is this the
  78. 3:03character of somebody that we think
  79. 3:04should be in elected office and the
  80. 3:06answer is no
  81. 3:07no definitely not I mean it that's like
  82. 3:10the latest thing that you'd add on to an
  83. 3:12entire pile of things that are reasons
  84. 3:13from to not be in office but but this
  85. 3:15but this should be enough like
  86. 3:18again I I have no idea how he could
  87. 3:21possibly get re-elected with with all
  88. 3:23that we know although you know we live
  89. 3:25in a Hell world so I guess anything's
  90. 3:26possible but it's not enough to just let
  91. 3:30him have two years that is not
  92. 3:31acceptable he needs to go he needs to be
  93. 3:34taken out of that position it's not
  94. 3:36going to bring the dog back to life it's
  95. 3:38not going to make good all of the people
  96. 3:40who have suffered from crossing paths
  97. 3:42with Anthony devalder George zabrovski
  98. 3:45or whatever the hell he calls himself
  99. 3:46but at least it would be a start
  100. 3:50[Music]
