10. 0:22Center on Nazi persecution which keeps
11. 0:25records on Jewish refugees show no
12. 0:28mention of Santos's grandparents one
13. 0:31genealogist who helped research Santos's
14. 0:33family tree at CNN's request said
15. 0:36there's no sign of Jewish and or
16. 0:39Ukrainian Heritage and no indication of
17. 0:42name changes along the way I'm so proud
18. 0:45to be able to keep our family going
19. 0:47forward and showing that not only did we
20. 0:49survive but now I'm able to go Advocate
21. 0:51and fight for other Jewish people
22. 0:55other Jewish people which he's not a
23. 0:59part of it's this New York Congressman
24. 1:01Alex Santos uh who's facing numerous
25. 1:04accusations after lying about his resume
26. 1:06and background to voters for the last
27. 1:09couple of days he's held his silence but
28. 1:11now has finally spoken out in an
29. 1:13exclusive New York Post interview here
30. 1:16is what he had to say
31. 1:18I am not a criminal Santos said at one
32. 1:21point during his exclusive interview
33. 1:22this controversy will not deter me from
34. 1:25having good legislative success I will
35. 1:28be effective I will be good and there's
36. 1:31so much more we need to get to but I
37. 1:33just want to pause here for one second
38. 1:34because first of all I will be good
39. 1:38what are you are you 12 years old and
40. 1:41you just got scolded by your mother what
41. 1:44is that

67. 2:50extent of his lies so let's get into
68. 2:52more of his defenses of those lies he
69. 2:55said my sins here are embellishing my
70. 2:57resume I'm sorry Santos confessed he had
71. 3:01never worked directly for Goldman Sachs
72. 3:03and Citigroup chalking that FIB up to a
73. 3:05poor choice of words
74. 3:09I just choose different words most of
75. 3:12which when strung together are the
76. 3:14opposite of the truth but I never lie
77. 3:17so his defense as to how he uh poorly
78. 3:21chose those words his lies was that he
79. 3:24uh now claims instead that a company
80. 3:26called link bridge where he worked as a
81. 3:28vice president did business with both of
82. 3:31the financial Giants I will be clearer
83. 3:33about that it was stated poorly Santos
84. 3:37said of the lie so some other things he
85. 3:39lied about he admitted that he never
86. 3:41graduated from any college despite
87. 3:43previously claiming to have received a
88. 3:45degree from Baruch in 2010 I didn't
89. 3:48graduate from any institution of Higher
90. 3:49Learning I'm embarrassed and sorry for
91. 3:51having embellished my resume he said I
92. 3:54own up to that

94. 3:59elected to congress on November 8th to
95. 4:01represent the Long Island and
96. 4:02queens-based Third District was also
97. 4:04accused of lying about his family
98. 4:05history saying on his campaign website
99. 4:07that his mother was Jewish and his
100. 4:09grandparents escaped the Nazis during
101. 4:12World War II Santos now says that he's
102. 4:14clearly Catholic but claimed his
103. 4:17grandmother told stories about being
104. 4:19Jewish and later converting to
105. 4:23Catholicism so as you saw in the first
106. 4:27video his excuse for saying he was
107. 4:29Jewish was that he never actually
108. 4:31claimed to be Jewish Santos said I am
109. 4:34Catholic because I learned from my
110. 4:36maternal family had a Jewish background
111. 4:37I said I was Jew
112. 4:40ish listen
113. 4:43you know he's so full of it when he
114. 4:46pretends that he came up with the I'm
115. 4:49Jewish joke like most Jews are Jewish

132. 5:34describing his resume it's like that

134. 5:38looks or he looks down to the newspaper
135. 5:40and goes doubt like what else is in the
136. 5:42headlines I'm Ukrainian

138. 5:47Kamala Harris's front porch and I am a

150. 6:25let's take a look at that tweet he said

154. 6:34U.S history the son of working class
155. 6:36immigrant parents who left Brazil for
156. 6:38the U.S congressman elect Santos was
157. 6:41born and raised in Jackson Heights
158. 6:43Queens
159. 6:44I mean it was all right we I I don't
160. 6:48even know if his name is Santos at this
161. 6:49point this man is a prolific liar but it
162. 6:52is funny that that he would just sort of
163. 6:54latch onto those lies and and hype up
164. 6:56this notorious liar
165. 6:58um with like the most identity politics
166. 7:01tweet ever yes and I thought you were
167. 7:04against stuff like this
168. 7:05only when it's uh only when it's used by
169. 7:08liberals not if it's used by Republicans
170. 7:12um okay but so more of his lies he had
171. 7:14he claimed he had some Financial uh
172. 7:16issues that were pretty sketchy when you
173. 7:19looked into the details of them New York
174. 7:21Times reported that Mr Santos alleged
175. 7:24acknowledged that a string of financial
176. 7:26difficulties had left him owing
177. 7:28thousands to landlords and creditors but
178. 7:30he failed to explain in the interviews
179. 7:32how his fortunes reversed so
180. 7:33significantly that by 2022 he was able
181. 7:36to lend 700
182. 7:39000 to his Congressional Campaign and
183. 7:41the last one and I think the the
184. 7:44funniest one one is that despite
185. 7:46claiming that he's been an openly gay
186. 7:48Republican for the past 10 years he had
187. 7:51been married to a woman in the past Mr
188. 7:53Santos the first openly gay Republican
189. 7:55to win a house seat as a non-incumbent
190. 7:57also acknowledged owing thousands in
191. 7:59unpaid rent and and a years-long
192. 8:01marriage he had never disclosed I dated
193. 8:04women in the past I married a woman it's
194. 8:06personal stuff he said to the post
195. 8:07adding that he was okay with my
196. 8:10sexuality people change
197. 8:13so I'll just say he claimed on his
198. 8:14website that he had been openly gay for
199. 8:16a decade last time I checked he got
200. 8:18divorced in 2019 and that wasn't a
201. 8:20decade ago the math is not mathing but I
202. 8:24think ultimately what's the most
203. 8:25concerning is how easily journalists
204. 8:28were able to uncover these lies and how
205. 8:31weak the D Triple C was and how it seems
206. 8:34like they didn't try at all with their
207. 8:36opposition research to prevent him from
208. 8:38getting elected I mean it's pathetic
209. 8:39yeah they just make calculations about
210. 8:42like what they're willing to give up
211. 8:44there were a lot of mistakes made in New
212. 8:46York uh when it came to districting and
213. 8:49and reviewing maps in the face of you
214. 8:53know Nationwide electoral politics and
215. 8:54gerrymandering they were fighting fire
216. 8:56with just giving away Republican seats
217. 8:59um but yeah I I love this guy and if the
218. 9:03right goes after you know uh Elizabeth
219. 9:06Warren is Pocahontas they're going to
220. 9:09come up with like a terrible oh they
221. 9:10should be coming up with like a terribly
222. 9:12anti-Semitic slur fake name for him
223. 9:15I don't think that they'll ever hold him
224. 9:17accountable it would be interesting to
225. 9:19see if the Press around him is so bad
226. 9:21that they finally just have to you know
227. 9:23ask him to sit uh to step down but I
228. 9:25highly doubt that they would ever do
