- 0:00Hello everyone, my name is Ross and
- 0:01welcome to a complete guide on the
- 0:03European bolards in Geogesser. I know an
- 0:06absolutely riveting subject, but an
- 0:08extremely important one. And the
- 0:11inspiration for this video, I was just
- 0:13sick and tired of losing out on easy
- 0:16wins because I was confusing the bolards
- 0:18in Europe. So, what I did is I went over
- 0:21to Plonit, which is a fantastic,
- 0:23fantastic tool. I'll link the Plonkit
- 0:25website down below because all of the
- 0:26graphics today come from that. I went
- 0:28over to Plonit and I just screenshotted
- 0:30all of the bolards from each of the
- 0:32countries in Europe and I've tried to
- 0:34collect that into a neat presentation so
- 0:36that we can compare some of the similar
- 0:38bolards and hopefully improve our own
- 0:40knowledge and I know Europe
- 0:41comparatively isn't a massive continent
- 0:43and often if you just get the general
- 0:45region that can be enough but if you are
- 0:47playing no move in particular or even
- 0:49move and you come across a bolard if
- 0:51that can give you the country that is a
- 0:53massive advantage whilst other people
- 0:54are looking at things like vegetation or
- 0:57looking for languages is you can just
- 0:58know immediately off the back of that.
- 1:00So incredibly important. The way that
- 1:02today's video is going to work is it's
- 1:03going to be split into two sections. I'm
- 1:05going to go through this presentation
- 1:06now where we go through each of the
- 1:07country bolards and some of the things
- 1:09that stand out and for me like the real
- 1:11bankers that you absolutely need to
- 1:13know. And then the second half of the
- 1:14video is me going and playing Geogesser,
- 1:17pointing out the bolards, discussing
- 1:18what they look like and trying to
- 1:20improve as well. I do want to caveat.
- 1:22I'm not a Geog Geogesser pro. I am by no
- 1:25means an expert, but I have spent a lot
- 1:27of this week trying to get to grips with
- 1:28the bolards and also I'll for the large
- 1:31part just be reading out what they've
- 1:32got over on Plonet as well. So,
- 1:34apologies if I make any mistakes. This
- 1:36is just to try and improve my own
- 1:37learning and hopefully help you out as
- 1:39well. If it does help, make sure to
- 1:40subscribe. So, yes, presentation by me,
- 1:43Georraptor, graphics from Plonkit. I'll
- 1:45link all of this down below. I'll also
- 1:46try to remember to link this actual
- 1:47presentation down below so that you can
- 1:49use it for yourselves as well. So, I've
- 1:52tried to group them either by the design
- 1:55of the Bolard or for the most part
- 1:58geographically, just in case you get a
- 1:59general vibe like I think this is the
- 2:01Nordics. I've tried to group them by
- 2:02that. So, the first two that I want to
- 2:04discuss is Iceland and Pharaoh Islands.
- 2:06I'm going to move almost from the west
- 2:08over to the east of Europe. The reason I
- 2:10put these two together, obviously, you
- 2:11can sometimes get them confused. They
- 2:13are quite close together geographically,
- 2:15but they are also the only two bolards
- 2:17that are completely yellow. So Iceland
- 2:19in particular, if you are spawned on an
- 2:22a rural road in Iceland and that's where
- 2:23you pop up, you will almost definitely
- 2:25see the yellow bard, it is such an easy
- 2:28win. So they are bright yellow and they
- 2:30have a white reflector at the top. So do
- 2:32not forget those. The Pharaoh Island
- 2:34ones, I haven't seen them as often, but
- 2:36you can see them. They are wooden, they
- 2:37are painted yellow. You can also have
- 2:39the red on the top as well. These are
- 2:40slightly less common. Definitely if
- 2:42you're going to look at one of these and
- 2:43remember one of them, it is those
- 2:44Icelandic bolards. Then moving on to the
- 2:47UK, Scotland, Ireland. I know Scotland
- 2:49is part of the UK of course, but they do
- 2:50have their own specific ones. The UK
- 2:52bolard does pop up if you are on quite a
- 2:54rural road. It's also very recognizable
- 2:57in Europe. There aren't many bolards
- 2:58that like it. You've got the black,
- 3:00white, black with the red as the
- 3:02reflector on the top. Do be careful with
- 3:04a lot of these bolards. We'll talk about
- 3:06the color red, but for lots of them,
- 3:07that's the front of the bolard. And
- 3:09sometimes you won't be able to see the
- 3:10front of the bolard. So, do be careful.
- 3:12I think you can also see this in like
- 3:14Indonesia or one of the Asian countries,
- 3:15but in terms of Europe, you shouldn't be
- 3:17at this stage. Even if you're a
- 3:19beginner, you shouldn't be confusing the
- 3:20two too often. This is definitely a UK
- 3:22bolard. In Scotland, they actually do
- 3:24have a unique bolard that looks a bit
- 3:25like the French bolard. So, it's white,
- 3:28it's quite thick, and at the top, it's
- 3:29kind of rounded, and then it has red
- 3:31that wraps all the way around or gray on
- 3:33the back. That is quite similar to the
- 3:36French one, but the French bolard has
- 3:37this kind of pencil top, whereas you can
- 3:39see here, this is quite rounded. When we
- 3:41look at the French barard in a second,
- 3:42it will make more sense. But just be
- 3:45careful that you don't see this
- 3:46immediately think it's the French one
- 3:48and confuse the top of it. In Ireland,
- 3:50I've actually not seen these too often,
- 3:52but Plonet says that you can get these
- 3:53green and green and white bolards. And
- 3:55if you're doing a 50/50 between the UK
- 3:57and Ireland, and in all fairness, I'm
- 3:59from the UK and I often get the two
- 4:01mixed up if we're on rural roads. The
- 4:03green bolards here that you can see
- 4:04here, they might be helpful. But yeah,
- 4:06I've not seen them too much in my
- 4:07limited play time on Geogessa.
- 4:10Andura, Spain, Portugal. Andura, you
- 4:12might think I don't really care. Andura
- 4:13is not going to pop up very often. It
- 4:14actually does pop up quite a lot as a
- 4:16country on Geogessa for me. So what
- 4:18you've got is this kind of wedge-shaped
- 4:19bolard here and it has an orange
- 4:21reflector and it's mainly seen when
- 4:23you're on kind of big highway. So if
- 4:24you're on a big highway that looks a bit
- 4:26like Spain and you see this bolard, it
- 4:28could also be Spain, but at least guess
- 4:30towards Andura. So at least go up to the
- 4:32the northern part of Spain and by all
- 4:34means obviously plunk a plunk a guess in
- 4:36and Pandora as well. But the bulard
- 4:38you'll see for most of Spain is this one
- 4:41here where you have a yellow reflector.
- 4:42And there aren't too many bolards in
- 4:44Europe with that yellow reflector. There
- 4:46are some so don't automatically go Spain
- 4:48but again it's kind of wedge shaped.
- 4:50It's got this yellow sometimes a little
- 4:52bit orange but mainly yellow reflector
- 4:53and then the two dots on the back as
- 4:56well. And you can also see Plonket says
- 4:57it is often hollow. You might not be
- 4:59able to see quite here, but if you can
- 5:01get very close to it, the inside of it
- 5:03is almost hollow. So, most of them are
- 5:05kind of filled out wedge shape. This has
- 5:06a bit of space inside it. Hopefully,
- 5:09you're following so far. Portugal. I do
- 5:12often miss Portugal in all fairness
- 5:13because again, it's another wedge-shaped
- 5:14bolard. And you'll see a lot of these
- 5:15bolards do look very similar. The best
- 5:18way for me to know it's Portugal in the
- 5:19times that I've caught it is when it's a
- 5:21very thin bit of white at the top. We're
- 5:23going to discuss some bolards later that
- 5:25don't have any white at the top, but
- 5:27most of the ones that do, you can see
- 5:28here in the Spanish bolard, for example,
- 5:30there's quite a lot of white at the top.
- 5:31This is just a very thin strip. Then
- 5:34you've got the reflector. The reflectors
- 5:36can also be orange. So this is where
- 5:38Andura, Spain, Portugal, we're looking
- 5:40at very small differences here. But if
- 5:42you see a reflector which looks Spanish
- 5:44but is quite orange rather than yellow,
- 5:47you might be looking at Portugal
- 5:48instead. I do sometimes confuse these,
- 5:50but I guess if you know that it's
- 5:51Andura, Spain, or Portugal, you're not
- 5:53going to be too far away, so I wouldn't
- 5:54stress too much. Cool. Moving on to then
- 5:57France, Switzerland, Likenstein. Again,
- 5:59I'm going to try and point out to you
- 6:01the ones that are most helpful. And here
- 6:03right now, after the Icelandic one, I
- 6:06would say the French bolard is in the
- 6:08top five most useful bolards in the
- 6:09entirety of Geogen, not just in Europe.
- 6:12It comes up so often. Almost any rural
- 6:15French round, you will see this bolard,
- 6:16or at least it feels that way. And there
- 6:18are two different types, but as you can
- 6:20see, remember I spoke about that
- 6:21Scottish bolard where it was quite
- 6:22rounded. This is very much like a pencil
- 6:24shape. It's got much more of a tip to
- 6:26the bolard. And most of the ones that
- 6:28you see, this kind of red wrap around
- 6:30horizontal thick Yeah. like line that
- 6:32wraps around it. But I kept missing this
- 6:35bolard at first cuz I was looking for
- 6:36the red and it can be gray. So as long
- 6:39as you see this general shape quite
- 6:41thick with a pointed top, it doesn't
- 6:43matter it's red. It doesn't matter if
- 6:44it's gray. You can see both. Plonkit
- 6:47does say that there are some variations
- 6:48that have a fully red top. I've not seen
- 6:50them too often, but yeah, this for me,
- 6:52I'm going to try and point out the ones
- 6:53because you're not going to remember all
- 6:54of these if you're just starting, but
- 6:55the Icelandic yellow, the French bolard,
- 6:58they're really good to get. Switzerland
- 7:00and Likenstein actually have an almost
- 7:01identical bolard, which is the one on
- 7:03the right of the Switzerland picture
- 7:04here, which is rounded at the top, and
- 7:06it's just kind of like quite thick and
- 7:08round. I mean, it sounds so sus when
- 7:09we're discussing bolards. It's got the
- 7:11two dots on the back and then a
- 7:13reflector. I can't distinguish the
- 7:14difference between them. So if you're a
- 7:16bit unsure if it's Switzerland or
- 7:17Likenstein based on the surroundings,
- 7:19maybe just guess towards Likenstein in
- 7:22Switzerland, but they both come up.
- 7:23Again, I've been making mistakes though
- 7:25in the past. I'm just looking for this
- 7:27bard. Switzerland also do quite often
- 7:29have that wedge bolard as well, which
- 7:32again is that sort of very standard
- 7:33European shape. So don't only expect the
- 7:37rounded version. Okay, we're making good
- 7:39progress. Then Denmark, Belgium,
- 7:41Netherlands. Denmark is another and
- 7:44along with Belgium as well country that
- 7:46has a yellow reflector on it or at least
- 7:49a they call it yeah yeah it is a yellow
- 7:51reflector and a dark orange strip. So
- 7:52the Danish one is this kind of wedge
- 7:54shape again the rate the way that you
- 7:56can tell it's Denmark is not only does
- 7:58it have this yellow reflector but it
- 7:59will usually is it always I feel like
- 8:02I've seen it quite often not maybe not
- 8:03it has this orange strip at the top as
- 8:05well. It says you can also find this
- 8:07green variant, but I can't click on
- 8:09that. But yeah, if you see this yellow
- 8:10reflector here and you see a orange or
- 8:13dark orange strip along the top, you're
- 8:15in Denmark. Again, this does pop up
- 8:17quite often. The Belgian bolard, I think
- 8:20they've got yeah, three types here. So,
- 8:22Belgium uses white bolards with a yellow
- 8:24rectangular reflector. I don't feel like
- 8:26I've seen that too often with a white on
- 8:28the back. So, you can see here these two
- 8:29here, yellow on the front, white on the
- 8:31back. Looks a little bit shorter. I
- 8:33guess the reflector doesn't look quite
- 8:34as big. And they say that there is a
- 8:36second type of bolard which again I've
- 8:37not seen too often with dark brown and
- 8:40two red strips on the top. I feel like
- 8:43with Belgium there are a lot of other
- 8:44clues that you can go for potentially
- 8:45which we won't dive into here. But yeah,
- 8:47hope that helps. Belgium and Denmark you
- 8:49can see yellow reflectors as well. And
- 8:51then the Netherlands have quite a
- 8:54distinctive bolard. However, I have
- 8:56confused this with other ones such as
- 8:58Turkey and Romania which you'll
- 8:59understand later why. But it's just a
- 9:01simple white bolard with a red
- 9:03reflector. It is so basic. So sometimes
- 9:05if you're like actually this could be
- 9:06Netherlands or Belgium maybe you're
- 9:08confusing the two of them. If you can
- 9:09come across a bolard they are obviously
- 9:11extremely different bards between the
- 9:12two countries.
- 9:15Poland Poland I will put in I'm going to
- 9:17try and name five of the best and I
- 9:19would say Poland for me along with the
- 9:20Icelandard and the French bard is the
- 9:22most useful for me. The Polish bolard is
- 9:25just really distinctive. It is again
- 9:27usually I think maybe always
- 9:29wedge-shaped. So, not like the French
- 9:30shape, but kind of this wedge-shaped
- 9:32bolar. And the red wraps all the way
- 9:34around. Normally at this kind of
- 9:36diagonal angle, as you can see here, it
- 9:38has a red reflector on the front, which
- 9:40you usually can't see unless it's
- 9:42perfect quality, maybe like Gem 4. But
- 9:43you can see here, you can see a
- 9:44reflector on the front and then on the
- 9:46back, it's got the white reflector. And
- 9:48also, bolards often have the numbers on
- 9:51it. So, immediately, even if you don't
- 9:52see a number and you just see this red
- 9:54wrap around that di that diagonal on a
- 9:56wedge-shaped bolard, then you're in
- 9:58Poland. But especially if you start
- 10:00seeing these numbers as well. I don't
- 10:01actually know what the numbers mean by
- 10:02the way. Let me know if you know down
- 10:03below. But then you are in Poland. So
- 10:05this for me is an absolute banker.
- 10:07Again, it's one of the ways that I know
- 10:08that I'm in Poland. I've had this once
- 10:11and I was so confused that I had to
- 10:13Google it. There is an oblast in
- 10:15Ukraine, which is the sort of regions in
- 10:17Ukraine that has the Polish bolar. I'll
- 10:20try to point that out later when we play
- 10:21geoger. But yeah, there is a part of
- 10:23Ukraine, but I would for the large part
- 10:25just if you see that you send Poland.
- 10:27Hopefully you're following so far.
- 10:30Germany and Luxembourg. These are very
- 10:32well known in the geogesser community.
- 10:33So they are basically identical bolard.
- 10:37You can see again this wedge shape here
- 10:38with the black wrap around this kind of
- 10:39the standard European looking bolard.
- 10:42The way that you would distinguish
- 10:43between them this reflector on the front
- 10:47of the bolard you can see that well you
- 10:49can't actually see on the German one but
- 10:51in Germany it will have two bolts on it.
- 10:53On Luxembourg hopefully you can see here
- 10:55but it's got three bolts. you will often
- 10:58genuinely this this has worked for me on
- 10:59maybe I don't know probably 10 plus
- 11:01rounds if you are choosing between the
- 11:03two and they can look quite similar
- 11:05especially in rural areas if it's got
- 11:07two bolts it's Germany if it's got three
- 11:09bolts it's Luxembourg and it works well
- 11:10what it has for me at least every single
- 11:12time obviously if you can't see the
- 11:15reflector then you're not going to know
- 11:16if you just see the two dots then you've
- 11:18not got nothing to go off but if you can
- 11:19see the reflector that is an extremely
- 11:20useful one as well
- 11:23okay I would probably put this one I'm
- 11:26going to put Czecha and Slovakia. I know
- 11:27they're two countries, but I would say
- 11:28that this bolard is maybe the fourth
- 11:30also very important one because it again
- 11:33is so distinctive. It's the two double
- 11:35reflectors at that sort of diagonal
- 11:37angle. So you can see here on Czecha and
- 11:39Slovakia, they are basically identical.
- 11:41So you can't narrow it down, I don't
- 11:43think anyway, to which one of the two it
- 11:45is, but as soon as you see see the two
- 11:48double reflectors, you know that you're
- 11:49going to be in Czecha or Slovakia. And
- 11:51obviously they are right next to each
- 11:52other. So that's an extremely useful one
- 11:54to learn as well. in Hungary. Hungary
- 11:57again kind of have the standard wedge
- 11:58shaped bolard. They'll typically have a
- 12:00red reflector on the front and it's
- 12:02quite bright red as well usually. I
- 12:03believe we're going to get on to Croatia
- 12:05later, but something to note on the
- 12:07Hungarian bolard is that you do have
- 12:09quite a lot of white space at the top
- 12:11whereas there are quite a few other ones
- 12:12where there's a little bit less space.
- 12:14So, this wedge-shaped one can be in
- 12:17Hungary. Cool. Hopefully, I've not
- 12:19misspoken on anything too much. Again,
- 12:20if you're a veteran or a pro and you
- 12:21think I have said anything that's
- 12:22incorrect, let me know down below. And
- 12:24again, massive shout out to Plonkit for
- 12:25these amazing tools. So, Greece. Greece
- 12:29I have got confused quite often with
- 12:31others. There's two things to note in
- 12:33Greece. A lot of the Greek bolards have
- 12:35just been beat up. [laughter] The amount
- 12:36of rounds I've had where like the top of
- 12:38the Greek bolard has been missing. So,
- 12:40just be careful that it might look like
- 12:42there's no white at the top bit. It
- 12:43might have just been a bit beat up. But
- 12:45the best way to tell the Greek bolard
- 12:47again wedge shaped, but the reflector is
- 12:49basically square. There aren't many
- 12:51countries where you get a square
- 12:53reflector. You can see the Albanian
- 12:54Italian ones below. Most of the
- 12:56reflectors are kind of like thin diag um
- 12:58thin rectangle whereas Greek is square.
- 13:00So that's quite a useful one as well.
- 13:02Especially if you are struggling like
- 13:04between I don't know Greece and Italy.
- 13:05If you've got a bolard they're extremely
- 13:07different to look at. We're now going to
- 13:09move on to some of the bolards that have
- 13:11a black top to them. These are I think
- 13:14there's probably seven or eight
- 13:16countries you could be where the top of
- 13:19the bolard is red and they sorry the top
- 13:21of the bolard is black with no white on
- 13:23top of it and that's incredibly useful
- 13:25to at least narrow down your options.
- 13:27The Albanian and Italian bolards are
- 13:30identical. So, if you are really
- 13:32struggling, you I've got nothing to go
- 13:33off, but you see this bolard with the
- 13:36black top, the wedge-shaped bolard, and
- 13:38then the thin black red reflector on one
- 13:40side and then the sort of white
- 13:41reflector on the other side or gray. You
- 13:43know you're in Italy or Albania. What
- 13:45you can do is just hedge in southern
- 13:46Italy. I've done that a couple of times
- 13:48where it's the closest point between
- 13:51Italy and Albania. Obviously, if you're
- 13:52in northern Italy or something like
- 13:54that, then you might be quite far away,
- 13:55but normally there's a bit of landscape
- 13:57or something else to help you out there.
- 13:59This is another good one to know. So the
- 14:01first two countries with black tops to
- 14:03their reflectors is Albania and Italy.
- 14:06We then move on to three other
- 14:07countries, but as you can see by these
- 14:09three here, it is quite a distinctive
- 14:11difference because the black tip isn't
- 14:13or the black top of the the bolard isn't
- 14:15as much and also the reflector isn't
- 14:18inside the bolard. So on Albania and
- 14:19Italy, the reflector is inside it
- 14:21whereas on these three the reflector is
- 14:23outside. So Austria, Montenegro, and
- 14:26Slovenia can all have that black tip to
- 14:28the bolard, but the reflector will be
- 14:30below it. The only way that I've been
- 14:32able to tell the difference between
- 14:33these here is this Austrian one is
- 14:34normally quite dark red. So if you see a
- 14:37bolard with a black top to it that isn't
- 14:39quite bright, and you think actually
- 14:40that looks like really dark, almost at
- 14:42some point it's like purple or brown,
- 14:43then you're probably going to be in
- 14:44Austria. And again, there are other
- 14:46things that you can look at in the sort
- 14:48of terrain and environment architecture
- 14:50that might help you. And then Montenegro
- 14:53and Slovenia. I would probably get these
- 14:54mixed up quite a lot. It says here, does
- 14:57it say how you can tell the difference?
- 14:59Maybe in Slovenia it's really bright.
- 15:01Yeah, it sounds like and it looks like
- 15:02here I guess that the the Slovenian one
- 15:05is quite bright. But again, Montenegro
- 15:07and Slovenia, you might be able to tell
- 15:08the difference between them based on
- 15:09some other stuff as well. But these are
- 15:11three other countries that you can see
- 15:14the black top to the bolard. Cool. North
- 15:18Macedonia, they use two types of bolard.
- 15:21Very rarely you'll get this in Geoga
- 15:23anyway. I've probably only had North
- 15:24Macedonia like three times in total. But
- 15:26you can see here you've got two
- 15:27different types of bolards. I'm not
- 15:28going to go into them too much cuz I'm
- 15:30not using them too often, but I think
- 15:32they're very similar basically to the
- 15:33Croatian bolard. Remember I said on the
- 15:36Hungarian one there's a lot more white
- 15:38at the top. That's the only way really
- 15:40other than other stuff in the round that
- 15:43you can tell the difference between
- 15:44Croatia and Hungary. And also Lithuania
- 15:48as well has a very similar bolard as
- 15:49we'll see. But yeah, there's less white
- 15:51at the top of the Croatian bolard. And
- 15:53again, Croatia does normally look a
- 15:55little bit different to Hungary. Serbia
- 15:58has two different types of bolard.
- 15:59Serbia can have a bolard that's very
- 16:01similar actually to the Austrian,
- 16:03Montenegron, and Slovenian bolards we
- 16:05saw where it's got a black top and a red
- 16:07reflector underneath. But you can also
- 16:09see another type of bolard as well where
- 16:12it's got kind of an offcenter reflector.
- 16:14There are a few countries actually that
- 16:16pop up with an offcenter reflector, but
- 16:19yes, Serbia is one of them as well. By
- 16:21the way, later on when we play Geogessa,
- 16:23hopefully some of this will start to
- 16:24sink in, but you can watch this back a
- 16:26couple of times if you need to. And like
- 16:27I said, I'll link the presentation down
- 16:29below.
- 16:30Moving on then to Romania, Turkey, and
- 16:32Bulgaria. Romania and Turkey have very,
- 16:35very similar bolards. I don't actually
- 16:37know how to tell the difference. I see
- 16:38here Romanian bolards are thin and white
- 16:39with a red vertical strip near the top.
- 16:42Again, I think when you turn them
- 16:44sideways, maybe that's the Romanian
- 16:46ones, actually. Yeah, I think they're
- 16:47both quite thin. Like if you see the
- 16:49Turkish or Romanian bolards side on,
- 16:52they're very thin. And I think the
- 16:53Turkish one, yeah, in particular, is
- 16:55very, very thin side on.
- 16:58Okay, that would help. So, it says here
- 16:59on Plonit that the Romanian bolards are
- 17:02relatively rare. So, I guess if you see
- 17:03a bolard that looks like this, and don't
- 17:06confuse it with the Dutch bolard, by the
- 17:08way, it's got a thinner red reflector, I
- 17:09believe, is the difference. then maybe
- 17:11to go Turkey because it sounds like
- 17:12bolards are quare in Romania. That's a
- 17:14good thing to know. In Bulgaria, it also
- 17:17said bolards are quite rare in Bulgaria
- 17:19as well, but you've got this kind of
- 17:20thin again bolard with a black strip
- 17:23around it and a red reflector that goes
- 17:24sort of top to bottom of the black
- 17:26strip. So, Bulgaria and Romania. Maybe
- 17:29if you see bolards, this isn't the best
- 17:31rule of thumb necessarily, but maybe you
- 17:32look to guess at some other countries.
- 17:35Cool. In terms of the Nordics, these are
- 17:38actually really useful and something
- 17:39which I hadn't learned until recently
- 17:40and I still need to try and ingrain in
- 17:42my mind because there are other stuff
- 17:44you can look at like center lines, the
- 17:46dash lines on the outside, the general
- 17:48scenery, snow poles, but sometimes it
- 17:50can be difficult to discern between
- 17:52them. So Norway uses this thin curved
- 17:54rectangular bolard with a reflector
- 17:56inside of a black parallelogram. I mean
- 17:59that is a posh sentence there, but you
- 18:01can see here this is the black
- 18:02parallelogram and the reflector is
- 18:04inside of it. Again, hopefully we get a
- 18:06couple of Norwegian bolards later that
- 18:08we can look at. Sweden bolards are black
- 18:10and white again, typically with a gray
- 18:12reflector. Reflectors by intersections
- 18:13can be orange. So maybe if you see an
- 18:15orange inter reflect near an insection,
- 18:17go Sweden. And they can be either wedge-
- 18:20shaped or thin [music] and curved. I
- 18:23often get these confused with the
- 18:24Estonian bolards. I'll probably do that
- 18:27today. For me, the Finnish, Swedish, and
- 18:29Estonian bolards, these round ones, they
- 18:31all look quite similar. Finland has long
- 18:34black and white bars with a rectangular
- 18:36white reflector on the front and two
- 18:37dots on the back. They can either be
- 18:39round or thin and curved. You can
- 18:40actually see it here on the bottom left.
- 18:42This kind of thin curved shape to it.
- 18:45These are some of, at least for me, you
- 18:47might find it easy, but these are some
- 18:48of for me the most difficult to try and
- 18:50tell the difference between, but again,
- 18:52normally you might have some other clues
- 18:53as well. Moving on then to the the
- 18:56Baltics, we have Estonia, Latia, and
- 18:57Lithuania. This is one of the better
- 19:00ways to actually tell the difference
- 19:01between them cuz the bolards usually are
- 19:03quite different. So Estonian bolards are
- 19:06round and baton like shaped. So they're
- 19:09kind of like a a tube. I remember I
- 19:10watched a zigzag video with Jackary was
- 19:12talking about the best way to remember
- 19:13this is that there is an O in Estonia
- 19:16and the Estonian bolard is like a tube.
- 19:19Again that might not help you massively
- 19:20but it has helped me on a couple of
- 19:22occasions. The Latvian one is thin has
- 19:25that slightly curved shape as well.
- 19:27We'll have the reflector on the front
- 19:28and then the two orange dots on the
- 19:30back. But I think the only real
- 19:31difference then between the two is the
- 19:33actual shape of the bolard. So hopefully
- 19:35you can get a bit of an idea when you
- 19:36look at that. The Lithuanian bolard is
- 19:39very different to the Estonian and
- 19:41Latian though. The Estonian Latian ones
- 19:42you can get confused quite a lot. The
- 19:44Lithuanian one stands out. It's wedge
- 19:46shaped almost looks a bit like the
- 19:48Hungarian bolard with an orange
- 19:50reflector. That's probably the easiest
- 19:52way that you would tell the difference.
- 19:54Cool. That's the Baltics. And then just
- 19:56to finish up on this section before we
- 19:57then move on to actually playing some
- 19:59geogesser. I couldn't find anything in
- 20:01the plon kit guide on Ukrainian bolards.
- 20:03So I got this from another site. I can't
- 20:05remember. You don't see Ukrainian
- 20:07bolards that often, but when you do it's
- 20:08kind of a very standard wedge shape. You
- 20:11can see here they say very similar to
- 20:12those in or at least it has a wider
- 20:14rectangle than those in Hungary,
- 20:15Bulgaria, Croatia, and North Macedonia.
- 20:18But it's a very similar one. Like unless
- 20:19you are right up close and you've
- 20:20absolutely nailed the bolard, it will
- 20:22look very similar. But if you see
- 20:24cirillic or if you see a general
- 20:25environment which fits Ukraine then that
- 20:27could help. And then just finishing with
- 20:29Russia we have if I haven't already said
- 20:32the fifth most helpful one is actually
- 20:34not the bolard necessarily but the
- 20:36bolard spam. If you are in an area which
- 20:39looks like it could be Russia and near
- 20:41an intersection you just see an obscene
- 20:44number of bolards you're in Russia. And
- 20:47this is almost always accurate. The
- 20:49amount of times this has bailed me out
- 20:50when I don't know where I am and I just
- 20:52look to the side and there are tons of
- 20:53bolards. You're probably in Russia. You
- 20:55can see here on this bottom image, they
- 20:56just put loads of them there. In terms
- 20:58of the actual bolards that you see,
- 20:59there are three different types here. I
- 21:01believe this one on the left is seen
- 21:02more in like Siberia, Eastern Russia. So
- 21:04if you see the you can see this stick
- 21:06here. It's a wedge-shaped one, but it's
- 21:08attached to a really thin stick. If you
- 21:10see that, you would opt towards Eastern
- 21:12Russia. Again though, with Russia, it's
- 21:14less about bolard for me. It's just more
- 21:15about like you get a general vibe that
- 21:17you're in Russia normally. And I am very
- 21:18bad at region guessing in Russia. So
- 21:21there we go. I think I've got most of
- 21:23the European countries. I know I missed
- 21:24a few off there. Malta, Cyprus, Andor,
- 21:27places like that, but not Andor. Uh
- 21:29Monaco, San Marino, Vatican, but I think
- 21:32for the most part, that's the main
- 21:33countries with the bolards. I'll link
- 21:36this presentation down below. Check out
- 21:37Plonit if you want to look into a
- 21:39specific country in particular. Let's
- 21:41now go over to Geogesser, play a few
- 21:42games, and show you what this looks like
- 21:44in action. So guys, we're jumping over
- 21:45to Geogesser to basically play a few
- 21:47rounds now. We'll just play for kind of
- 21:4920, maybe 30 minutes or so and just try
- 21:51and ingrain in our minds those bolards.
- 21:54I am not perfect by any means. In fact,
- 21:55about a week ago was pretty terrible,
- 21:57but hopefully me making that
- 21:59presentation also going through it
- 22:01there. Hopefully I've started to improve
- 22:02and we'll get a decent amount. A massive
- 22:04bit of advice I have to you is to make
- 22:06the most of a learnable meta. So this is
- 22:09basically like a script extension plugin
- 22:11that you can download. I'll link it down
- 22:13below. You download it and when you play
- 22:15any map that says like a learnable meta,
- 22:18it pops up after each round with a
- 22:20little box which tells you what you
- 22:22should have been looking out for, the
- 22:23meta that was there. And this map
- 22:25actually here is a learnable meta Europe
- 22:28bolards. So we are going to every single
- 22:30time spawn in front of a bolard and
- 22:32after I've either got it right or wrong,
- 22:34it will pop up telling us exactly what
- 22:36we just learned from Plonit as well. So
- 22:38hopefully this will go quite well and
- 22:39again I'll link it down below. Yeah, if
- 22:41you type in just a learnable anything,
- 22:43you can see that there are loads of
- 22:45different variations, but this is the
- 22:46one we're going to do today. Of course,
- 22:48we're going to be using no move because
- 22:49we shouldn't be looking around. We just
- 22:50want to look at the bolards. And I'm not
- 22:52going to set a time limit because I just
- 22:54want to play geography help you out. So,
- 22:58oh no.
- 23:01Okay. So, okay, we can see it there. I
- 23:03was going to say I think this is the
- 23:04Turkish bolard. I know at first you
- 23:06can't really see anything, but it's
- 23:07quite thin. And you can see that's the
- 23:09back of it, but you can actually see the
- 23:11red here. Now, could that be a Romanian
- 23:14bologage? Yeah. But I look around and
- 23:17this certainly looks more like Turkey in
- 23:20terms of wearing. I guess it doesn't
- 23:21matter where in Turkey, but I'll go
- 23:23somewhere that's not green. Okay. It
- 23:25wasn't the best region guessing in
- 23:27Turkey. Yes, it was indeed. And you can
- 23:29see this is what happens when you play
- 23:30these learnable meta worlds. It's so
- 23:32incredibly useful. it will pop up like
- 23:34this with with the meta. So again, we
- 23:37got the first one, right? That's what we
- 23:38love to see. Okay, immediately I'll zoom
- 23:41in on it. I'll give you a chance. I
- 23:42won't say straight away. I think that
- 23:45should be the Spanish bolard. We've got
- 23:47the yellow reflector. You can again see
- 23:49just in the top there, we've got the
- 23:50hollow center, the two lines in the
- 23:52back. You see often in Portugal and in
- 23:54Spain, maybe some other countries as
- 23:56well, but you can see it's attached to
- 23:58the guard rail as well. You see that
- 23:59quite a lot. And I mean also you
- 24:02shouldn't just look at the bolard. Have
- 24:03a look around. It kind of feels pretty
- 24:04Spanish. So where are we going to guess?
- 24:07I'll go in and around like Madrid way.
- 24:08We'll go over here. Okay. A terrible
- 24:10region guess once again. And as and as
- 24:13they said on the plonet guide, if it was
- 24:15the different bolard, you might guess
- 24:17towards Andura. Perfect. The first few
- 24:20rounds I'll take quite slow and then
- 24:22maybe we'll go through a few quicker.
- 24:23See if we can just get them straight
- 24:24away.
- 24:26Is that
- 24:29is that the Romanian or the Netherlands
- 24:31one? I mean, let's have a look around.
- 24:33Yellow plate. So, we're in the
- 24:34Netherlands. Yellow plates. I think you
- 24:36can see in Netherlands, Belgium, maybe
- 24:38Denmark. I mean, this isn't this isn't a
- 24:40video about the number plates, but yeah,
- 24:42it fits. So, that's the the Netherlands,
- 24:44I believe. Right. Yeah. Can't be
- 24:46Belgium. So, we'll send in the
- 24:48Netherlands, and we'll just send up
- 24:49somewhere around here. Cool. We've not
- 24:52done very good region guessing, but that
- 24:53was in in fact the Dutch bolard. This is
- 24:56how you do it, by the way. It's just
- 24:57like recognition, uh, like repetition, I
- 24:59should say. Right, I'll zoom in on that
- 25:00one. I'll give you a second. We said
- 25:02there was two things here. So, this is
- 25:04the Polish bolard. You can see the red
- 25:06wrapping around it. The six, the numbers
- 25:08as well. I It always seems to be the
- 25:11number six. I'm sure it isn't, but yeah,
- 25:12you can see the number there, the red
- 25:13wrap around. Is there any way that this
- 25:16is that random Ukrainian oblast? I bet
- 25:20it is. Now I'm going to obviously send
- 25:21in Poland. If it is the Ukrainian one,
- 25:23then it will be a good point. Okay, now
- 25:25it was. Okay, that was a better region
- 25:26guess as well. So that was the Polish
- 25:28barab.
- 25:30Cool. I mean immediately. That looks
- 25:32like an English sign, doesn't it? What
- 25:34is this? Hello. What do we have here? Is
- 25:38that the Scottish bolard?
- 25:41Oh yeah, it is. Okay, you got two
- 25:43bolards here. This is fantastic. So I
- 25:45was going to say looks like the French
- 25:46one, right? If you just look at that,
- 25:48that could be the French one. especially
- 25:50that. But the top isn't that pencil
- 25:52shape. Remember we spoke about this.
- 25:53This is the Scottish bolard here with
- 25:55the rounded top. Gray on the back, red
- 25:57on the front. But then also that is the
- 25:59standard UK bolard. So we're going to
- 26:00send in Scotland the loft. I don't know
- 26:03where that is. We'll just send
- 26:06um we'll send over here. Okay. It was
- 26:10kind of not really. Okay, perfect.
- 26:1420,000 on our first attempt. That's not
- 26:15bad at all. We got all five. Did we?
- 26:18Yeah. All five. pretty spot on. I mean,
- 26:20a couple of better region guesses in in
- 26:22Turkey and Spain and we could have been
- 26:23on for a really nice score. Awesome.
- 26:25Let's go again. Right. Immediately zoom
- 26:28over here.
- 26:30So, I think that and it kind of fits the
- 26:34environment. I think that's the
- 26:35Lithuanian bolard. Remember, it kind of
- 26:37looks a bit like a lot of the other ones
- 26:39you find in Hungary, Croatia, Spain, but
- 26:42very notably orange. And I think the
- 26:44notably orange is probably Lith.
- 26:47[snorts] And it kind of again fits with
- 26:48the the general scenery, the road. I'm
- 26:51not confident on this one, but I'm going
- 26:53to send in Lithuania. And I'm just going
- 26:55to go on this road here.
- 26:58Wasn't that road, but it was very close.
- 26:5944 km. Okay, let's try and get a good
- 27:02score. Actually, we might be able to get
- 27:03into the top 25, but we absolutely like
- 27:05nail all five of the guesses. By the
- 27:07way, we've not missed a single country
- 27:09yet. That's six on the bounce, I think.
- 27:11Right. Again, Polish. I know this is
- 27:14going to be quite repetitive. Maybe we
- 27:15won't do quite as long as I said, but
- 27:17it's good. You got the red wrap around
- 27:18the numbers. Again, this could be the
- 27:20random place in Ukraine, but we look
- 27:22over here, you'd see more Sirillic
- 27:24around, I think. So, yeah, I'm feeling
- 27:26pretty good for Poland. And I'm going to
- 27:28send it down here this time. No, where
- 27:30am I going to send it? Let's try and
- 27:31actually have a good guess.
- 27:34H I don't know. I'm really bad at region
- 27:36guessing. Let's just send in by lots
- 27:38right in the middle. Okay, that wasn't a
- 27:40bad I tell you what, we are on for one
- 27:42here.
- 27:44Oh no. Right. Why am I looking around?
- 27:47That's the bolard.
- 27:51What bolard is that? Is that a weird
- 27:53variation of Do you reckon that could be
- 27:56H? Oh, I've probably forgotten a bolard
- 28:00here. What?
- 28:02You're shouting at me now. You're
- 28:03shouting at me saying Ross, this was
- 28:05meant to be a complete guide. You've got
- 28:07to know your bolards. I kind of want to
- 28:09bring up my presentation and look now,
- 28:10but I'm not going to. Is it? No, it
- 28:13doesn't look Serbian, does it? It says
- 28:15it's Serbia.
- 28:17There were a few countries that had
- 28:18various ones
- 28:21or is this just
- 28:25I'm I'm going to look. Oh, is there
- 28:34S? There's Cirrillic there.
- 28:37Or is that the Bulgarian? No, no, I'm
- 28:39going to go I'm going to go Serbia.
- 28:44Oh, it was North Macedonia. You know the
- 28:47one where I said there's no need to
- 28:48learn that. It doesn't come up too
- 28:49often. Okay, the North Macedonian one.
- 28:51It's this one on the left.
- 28:53In all fairness, I hadn't really
- 28:55committed that to me. I'm going to
- 28:56commit that to memory. Round with the
- 28:58black bit in the middle and then the red
- 29:00reflector in it. Okay. North Macedonia.
- 29:02We were in the general right vibe
- 29:03though. We saw the uh the cirillic which
- 29:05helps. Cool. Awesome. Not too bad. Bit
- 29:08sad to lose the streak, but it is what
- 29:10it is.
- 29:16So, it was it was going so well. We've
- 29:19got the the bolard with black at the top
- 29:23and then an orange kind of almost square
- 29:26reflector in it.
- 29:30H I'm looking around for some other
- 29:32clues cuz I don't know. Black at the
- 29:34top. So, Albania, but it's not the
- 29:37Albanian one cuz the Albanian and
- 29:39Italian ones look the same. We then had
- 29:44not the Albanian one. Other ones uh with
- 29:47black at the top would be I don't know
- 29:50with a h
- 29:53I've forgotten my I've forgotten my
- 29:55complete guide already, guys. We're
- 29:57falling apart here. I look around.
- 30:01Do you reckon like Balkans again?
- 30:04black top to it. It's probably like one
- 30:07of these. Do you reckon that is the
- 30:08Serbian one? Or is that Slovenia?
- 30:12No. No, it's not Slovenia. I reckon we
- 30:14might be in I'm going to go Serbia
- 30:15again. Back toback Serbia guesses.
- 30:18Italian bolard.
- 30:20It It for sure didn't look like the
- 30:22Italian bolard, did it? The reflector
- 30:24looked insane there. Maybe on this part
- 30:26of Italy.
- 30:29H
- 30:30interesting.
- 30:32I ruled out Italy pretty quick in all
- 30:35fairness.
- 30:36Uh oh.
- 30:38Oh, guys, we're falling apart. We We
- 30:40were just on it. We were just slamming
- 30:42back guesses here. Okay, this bolard
- 30:45here, I'll tell you what bolard it could
- 30:47be. In my mind, this could be the
- 30:49Nordics or the Baltics. In fact, it
- 30:51probably is. Right. This is probably
- 30:55the thin I reckon Latia.
- 30:58So I think this is the one that looks
- 31:00like Latapia and Estonia and also a bit
- 31:02like Sweden and Finland. But it's not
- 31:04like I think you can see it's almost
- 31:06like rounded and thin whereas the
- 31:07Estonian one is more like a tube. I'm
- 31:10just chatting nonsense at this stage I
- 31:12think. Aren't I? Is this Latvia? Do you
- 31:14know what? Confident it was Latvia. It
- 31:16was Latvia. Go on. Let's do this.
- 31:18[laughter] We're learning the Bards.
- 31:19That wasn't too bad. It was still 191,
- 31:21but it started incredibly well. Those
- 31:23first couple of guesses were spot on.
- 31:25So, the only real terrible guess there
- 31:27was Serbia when it was actually Italy.
- 31:30In all fairness, it didn't look like
- 31:31Serbia much. I just didn't think that
- 31:33looked like the um the Italian B. Okay,
- 31:36here we go. So, you look at the scenery
- 31:39and you think, you know, you're in
- 31:41Pharaoh Islands or Iceland and it's the
- 31:43wooden one, which I've not actually seen
- 31:45out in the wild. I believe this is the
- 31:49Pharaoh Pharaoh Islands.
- 31:53Or is it? Or is this the Icelandic one?
- 31:55[gasps] Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear. I
- 31:59can't tell actually.
- 32:02I need to look get better at like
- 32:03understanding the scenery of Pharaoh
- 32:05Islands in Iceland in all fairness. But
- 32:06um
- 32:08it's probably the Icelandic one.
- 32:09Actually, that's Iceland. I think we'll
- 32:12just send it. It might not be it was
- 32:14Pharaoh Islands for goodness sake. Trust
- 32:17yourself, Ross. Uh, fair islands bas are
- 32:20small wooden sticks that are mainly
- 32:21painted yellow and sometimes red on top.
- 32:22Okay, it they looked wooden. I don't
- 32:24know what I'm doing. Okay, we got the
- 32:25general vibe. I said these are the ones
- 32:27that you've got to learn and then I just
- 32:28don't learn them. Uh, UK UK bards.
- 32:32Where are we in the UK? Should we should
- 32:34we region guess? Oh, Brimfield. Know
- 32:37where Brimfield is? Upton. Middleton on
- 32:40the hill. Oh, we're somewhere down here.
- 32:42Doesn't really matter, does it?
- 32:46We're [laughter]
- 32:47anywhere near there.
- 32:49Goodness me, we're falling apart. Um,
- 32:52okay. Is this the exact round that we
- 32:54had before?
- 32:55Is this Is this a repeat? Is this the
- 32:57same Lithuania? Do you remember where we
- 32:59were in Lithuania? Was it somewhere over
- 33:01here? No, it wasn't. It was down there.
- 33:04Okay. Yeah, that was the Lithuanian
- 33:05bolard. Okay, that was a repeat.
- 33:09I mean, have we got another Scottish
- 33:11bolard? I'm sure the Scottish bolards
- 33:12don't pop up this much in actual
- 33:14geogesser. Yeah. I mean, we're driving
- 33:15on the left immediately. You know,
- 33:16you're not in France, then you're in
- 33:18you're in Scotland. I don't know where
- 33:20in Scotland. I'm going to go right near
- 33:22Find Scotland, Ross. I'm going to go
- 33:25right near
- 33:28I'm going to go here.
- 33:31Terrible guess,
- 33:33right? Oh,
- 33:37[laughter] is this the Turkish Romanian
- 33:39looking bard or is this the the
- 33:42Netherlands? [laughter]
- 33:44for goodness sake. Is the is the one
- 33:47like I said I I'm I'm so scarred from
- 33:49getting the this obviously isn't the
- 33:51Netherlands, right? Surely not. I'm so
- 33:53scarred. I guessed the Netherlands when
- 33:54it was a Turkish, but they looked a
- 33:56little bit similar. Okay. Uh could it be
- 33:57Romania?
- 34:00Could this be I don't really know what
- 34:02Romania looks like to be honest. I'll
- 34:04guess Turkey
- 34:06by Anara. It was Romania. Okay. Yeah, it
- 34:09says Turkey has a very similar bolard.
- 34:11I'm really not sure how you would
- 34:12discern unless you just know the
- 34:13landscapes really well. It looked more
- 34:14Turkey than me than it did Romania, but
- 34:16that's fine. There might have been a
- 34:17pole or something I could have used.
- 34:19That was a much that was a weak effort.
- 34:21That was the Iceland Pharaoh Islands one
- 34:23was terrible. What other ones didn't I
- 34:25like there? In fact,
- 34:28nah, I lied. That was the only bad one.
- 34:31But again, they're both yellow. We got
- 34:32the general vibe. Okay, this is a
- 34:34repeat. Where was it? [laughter]
- 34:36I think there are 400 locations in this,
- 34:38by the way. We shouldn't really get be
- 34:39getting repeats. Was it up? It was up um
- 34:42like somewhere around here, wasn't it? I
- 34:43should look the exact location.
- 34:46Okay. It wasn't anywhere where I
- 34:48thought. Nice.
- 34:51Okay.
- 34:56No, I know this. I know this. I know
- 34:59this from learning before. So, that is
- 35:00the Spanish bolard, right? Remember,
- 35:02with the yellow reflector. I'm sure the
- 35:05green bit is like region specific to
- 35:07somewhere down here. I remember doing
- 35:08this like um yeah, I'm sure so that is
- 35:13Yeah, that is the Spanish bolard and
- 35:15then I think the green bit I mean it
- 35:16will tell us in a second but I feel like
- 35:18it was specific to somewhere down here
- 35:24extra extra madiraa is that like this
- 35:27area here in the region of extra madiraa
- 35:30I should know where extra madiraa is
- 35:31really is it a very specific place or or
- 35:34is that like this anyway down there
- 35:36guess guess In western Spain, if you get
- 35:39the the green bit on top of the yellow
- 35:40blood. Goodness me, we're falling apart.
- 35:43Okay, we've got the black tip
- 35:46and uh
- 35:49I don't know what language there.
- 35:52Does that look very dark red? I mean,
- 35:55these Yeah, it looks dark red. So, is
- 35:57this Austria? Do you remember what I
- 36:00said that it could obviously be any of
- 36:01the countries with that bother, but if
- 36:02it's very dark, we go Austria,
- 36:06but not it's not very mountainous, I
- 36:07don't think. I mean, I can't really see.
- 36:09I'm saying it's not mountainous. I'm in
- 36:10the middle of a forest. Um,
- 36:14okay. It was Austria, just not not too
- 36:16close, but yeah, here we go. So, it's
- 36:19the same as Slovenia and Montenegro, but
- 36:21the reflector is darker. Nice. We carry
- 36:24on going.
- 36:25Okay, so this is the swi Switzerland and
- 36:28Likenstein bollard, right? I think it's
- 36:32this rounded one with the two dots on
- 36:34the back. Could I get anything which
- 36:36would help me whether it's Switzerland
- 36:38or Likensstein?
- 36:39Probably for most people. I feel like
- 36:41it's more Likensstein.
- 36:44Should we just send it in Likenstein? I
- 36:46don't get many actual rounds in there.
- 36:47Um, right here. Yeah, let's just send it
- 36:50in Likenstein. I mean, if it is, it's
- 36:52going to be on. Is there a McDonald's?
- 36:57[laughter]
- 36:58Just I'm I don't know. Oh, I thought I
- 37:01saw a flag. Ignore me. Um I mean, it's
- 37:04probably just Switzerland, isn't it?
- 37:06We're sending it. We've committed. We're
- 37:08sending it in Likenstein. It was just in
- 37:10Switzerland. Okay, there we go. But you
- 37:12know the bolard at least now. This has
- 37:14been a bit better. We could Okay, we're
- 37:16in the UK, right? Can we region guess?
- 37:18Is there a sign? Give me a sign that
- 37:19helps me. Biller Ricky. Bill Ricky.
- 37:23That's down in a saf.
- 37:26That's down. Biller Ricky.
- 37:29Biller Ricky is in Essex. I'm from Essex
- 37:32originally.
- 37:34It took me a while to get rid of my
- 37:35Essics accent though. Most people don't
- 37:36know I'm from Essex. Um, what am I
- 37:38doing?
- 37:40Where is Essex? Where is Bill Ricky?
- 37:44Biller Ricky is
- 37:46I mean, do I care that much? That's a
- 37:49good question. Biller Ricky. Okay. Where
- 37:51is Bill Ricky? Biller Ricky is to our
- 37:54southeast.
- 37:56And what is that there? Biller Ricky to
- 37:58our southeast. So, we want to Where's my
- 38:02Oh, no. I lost Bill Ricky. Oh, there.
- 38:04So, we want to go
- 38:07somewhere up here. What is the road
- 38:09direction? If you double click uh the
- 38:11letter N, by the way, if you're on no
- 38:13move, it will tell. I'm I mean, I'm not
- 38:14going to find this. We're at an
- 38:15intersection.
- 38:19Okay, we were 2 km away. We'll take
- 38:21that. That was a decent score. 22,600.
- 38:24How much do we need to get to be on this
- 38:26leaderboard for no move?
- 38:3023,400.
- 38:32Should we go a couple more rounds? See
- 38:33if we can get another good one. And
- 38:35again, it's just again, it's just like
- 38:37repeating. Repetition is half of gig
- 38:39guess in all honesty. We need to go in
- 38:40the top 25K there. Weren't far off.
- 38:42Okay, let's go again.
- 38:45Um,
- 38:47oh damn.
- 38:49Okay, so it's not Albania because it's
- 38:51bright. Is this Slovenia then or
- 38:53Montenegro?
- 38:55I think I get more of a Montenegro vibe.
- 38:57I think. Are they the two that it could
- 38:58be? So I think this here I mean I
- 39:01created a presentation on it. I should
- 39:02know. I think that's that is Austria
- 39:06Montenegro or Slovenia but
- 39:09landscape maybe more Montenegron. I
- 39:11don't really in in all fairness don't
- 39:13even know what Slovenia looks like.
- 39:16If this is I'm going to be very sad if
- 39:18it's Slovenia. I'll tell you that much
- 39:20for free.
- 39:25Right. We'll rattle through this cuz
- 39:26we're not going to do anything now. Um
- 39:28is that Turkey? Thimbolard. Can't see
- 39:31from the side. Could be Romania. Could
- 39:33be Turkey. We'll go Turkey.
- 39:36Spain in Aragon. It is sometimes common
- 39:39to see this bolard.
- 39:42What? Aragon?
- 39:47Since when? Do you know what? I should
- 39:50have ended it after what? [laughter]
- 39:54Are we in Iceland or Pharaoh Islands?
- 39:57No. I mean, it doesn't look like either.
- 39:59Where the hell are we? Oh, this is
- 40:02obviously Iceland, right? I swear to God
- 40:04if this is the Pharaoh Islands. I'm not
- 40:06playing games. I'm not playing games.
- 40:10Good. Iceland. We're in Iceland. Okay.
- 40:13We've lost our heads. We've lost our
- 40:15heads. Where's my bolard? You can't
- 40:17spawn me where there's not a bolard.
- 40:20Excuse me.
- 40:24[laughter]
- 40:25Hello.
- 40:27They're just trying to mess with me now.
- 40:29Where on earth are we?
- 40:32I'm not playing normal geogesser in
- 40:34this. This wasn't the point of the
- 40:35video. I'm not just playing geogesser
- 40:37for the fun of it. It's not what we're
- 40:38doing here. I don't know why. Why' I
- 40:41look at the sun? I know what hemisphere
- 40:43we're in. This is a European map. I
- 40:45mean, it's very pretty.
- 40:49Am I going blind? You're going to send
- 40:51say in the comments. Ross, it was in
- 40:53front of you. Where is said Bolard?
- 41:00Right. I don't know. Does it look Balkan
- 41:02somewhere down here?
- 41:09Madiraa. Right. That wasn't on my That
- 41:12wasn't on my um thing. Was [laughter]
- 41:15that wasn't in my presentation for
- 41:17goodness sake. We should have ended it
- 41:19when we were feeling good. Oh, there we
- 41:22go. The Czecha Slo Checkze Slovakia uh
- 41:25bolard. Okay, we got a 50/50. Based on
- 41:28how it's been going for the rest of this
- 41:30section, I'm going to get it wrong.
- 41:32We're going to go Slovakia.
- 41:34Oh, that was a good guess actually.
- 41:36Okay, remember the We've just absolutely
- 41:39lost our heads now, but the two red dots
- 41:41is going to be Czecha or Slovakia. That
- 41:44was terrible. Right, we want to end at
- 41:47least on a good one. It Oh god,
- 41:53is this going to be
- 41:55Is this Italy or Albania again? And I
- 41:58don't know the T. Oh god, we're falling
- 42:01apart. Could it be anything else? I
- 42:04thought the Italian and Albanian
- 42:06reflector wasn't a square.
- 42:08Can you not see two? The Italian and
- 42:10Albanian plates have blue at the end.
- 42:18Oh, wow.
- 42:20We probably are supposed to know what
- 42:22that is. [laughter]
- 42:25We should probably know what that is,
- 42:26shouldn't we? Do you reckon we're
- 42:28looking What are we looking at? We're
- 42:29looking northn northeast at a huge
- 42:33mountain
- 42:35in Albania. Are any of these like icy
- 42:38looking mountains?
- 42:42Do you reckon we're like here?
- 42:47We're on a road that's going east.
- 42:50We're probably not even in this country.
- 42:52I don't know why I'm spending so long
- 42:53looking at this.
- 42:57>> [laughter]
- 42:57>> The Greek Oh, it is the Greek bolard cuz
- 42:59it's square. We're falling apart. Okay,
- 43:01Greek bolard is like that. Oh my god. Of
- 43:06course, it's not Albania or Italy. It's
- 43:07not. Okay, I've lost my mind. It
- 43:09wouldn't have had white at the top.
- 43:10Okay, we need to focus up here. The
- 43:12wouldn't have had the white at the top.
- 43:14It would have been all the way back to
- 43:15the We've just lost our minds. It's
- 43:16gone. Absolute head loss. Absolute head
- 43:20loss. We've just had this exact round.
- 43:21Where was it?
- 43:25Someone here.
- 43:28Okay, good. [laughter]
- 43:31We're completely Oh. Oh. Oh my god. I
- 43:34said I need to remember it. North
- 43:35Macedonia. Is that the North Macedonian
- 43:37one or is that the Serbian one? Oh, it's
- 43:40just all going terribly now.
- 43:44Is that Serbia or North Macedonia?
- 43:49H say North Macedonia? It's the North M.
- 43:52Of course it is. It's the North
- 43:53Macedonian one, you know. It's that road
- 43:55there.
- 43:57Wasn't bad. Wasn't bad. I want to do
- 43:59another one after this. You probably No
- 44:01one's probably even watching at this
- 44:02stage. That is a classic Estonia, I
- 44:05think. Got the two yellow dots on the
- 44:06back, but it doesn't look thin, right?
- 44:10That looks like a proper tube. Looks
- 44:12tubular, cylindrical.
- 44:16We're going to send it. We're going
- 44:18southwest in Estonia. A road going
- 44:21southwest. Do we have any hills or
- 44:23anything?
- 44:24Now quite a big road going southwest.
- 44:29We're driving on the right. So it's like
- 44:31Oh god. Do you know what? I'm just going
- 44:32to It's just It's this road here. Here
- 44:33we go.
- 44:35[laughter]
- 44:37It was It was actually that road. Wow.
- 44:41Check us out. I mean, we were not on the
- 44:43right bit of the road. That's funny.
- 44:45Oh, goodness me. This could have gone so
- 44:47Oh. Oh, Bill Ricky. [laughter]
- 44:51We're getting repeats. Uh, the point of
- 44:53the video isn't to get repeats, but it's
- 44:54the UK. Okay, Bill Ricky. Where was it?
- 44:57It was here. It was here. I didn't I
- 44:59didn't look where we were. We were 2 km
- 45:02away. I think I guessed
- 45:06I can't remember where I guessed last
- 45:07time.
- 45:09Oh, I don't know. We're 8 km away now.
- 45:12We got so much worse. Oh, that was okay.
- 45:16H I'm going to send one more. I'm going
- 45:18to do it quick, though. Hopefully, we
- 45:19just get all repeats and I just smash
- 45:21it.
- 45:26Is that orange? Is that the Lith one? I
- 45:28can't really tell. Does look very
- 45:31orange. Does this look like Lithuania?
- 45:34Could be for sure. Can we just send it
- 45:37in Lith?
- 45:39It's this road here. Classic. You know,
- 45:42it wasn't far away. Okay, we're I'm I'm
- 45:44feeling good. I'm
- 46:04I don't know. [laughter]
- 46:06Is this the Is this the the Romanian
- 46:09one?
- 46:11This is going to be some sort of random
- 46:13country that I didn't even include and
- 46:15like random bolard. Is this the Dutch
- 46:18one or is this the I should just look
- 46:20around. Doesn't look like any of the
- 46:22above. It could be the Netherlands.
- 46:24Could it also be Romania or Turkey?
- 46:26Yeah, sure. I don't know. Haven't
- 46:28visited enough of Europe clearly.
- 46:31Ah, this is a classic Romanian forest.
- 46:33Yeah, you know the classic Romanian
- 46:35forest you get. Oh, it's this one here.
- 46:37Yeah, it's that one. Uh, no, that's too
- 46:39many. Yeah, it's that Romanian forest
- 46:40there.
- 46:42Belgium. Oh, wait. What?
- 46:50Wait, what?
- 46:55That's yellow.
- 46:58It is kind [laughter]
- 47:02I mean, now you mention it. Now you
- 47:04mention it, it is kind of It is kind of
- 47:06yellow. Yeah. Okay, fair. We shouldn't
- 47:10have done the extra game. We shouldn't
- 47:11have done the extra game. We've fallen
- 47:12apart. That's the Turkish one or the
- 47:14Romanian one. And this is a classic.
- 47:16Yeah. Sending it straight in Anara, you
- 47:18know. Bang. That road there. God, it's
- 47:22the opposite side of Turkey.
- 47:25Oh, this is this is Albania.
- 47:30This is Yeah. It's classic Albania, you
- 47:32know. It's um it's this this road in
- 47:34Albania. Yeah. Shot this one. Yeah. Just
- 47:37here.
- 47:40Goodness me. Hopefully this help video
- 47:43has been Oh, the Pharaoh Islands. Do you
- 47:46know what? We should be able to get
- 47:47this. We are going.
- 47:50Okay. Like northwest. There's a big bit
- 47:53of river and then Okay. Okay. Okay.
- 47:55Okay. Um Pharaoh Islands.
- 47:58We are going northwest.
- 48:03Do you know what? I don't care.
- 48:06Okay. I was up there. [laughter]
- 48:08I'm overestimating my ability here.
- 48:10Right. Do you know what? We'll leave it
- 48:12there. But if you do want to check out
- 48:14any of the stuff that I spoke about
