4. 0:17Genesis coming from the Ethiopian
5. 0:20Bible um the first reading which today
6. 0:24is the 29th of
7. 0:26Sunday uh in September 2024
8. 0:31in the beginning God created the heavens
9. 0:33and the Earth and the Earth was formless
10. 0:35and void and darkness was on the face of
11. 0:38the deep and the spirit of God was
12. 0:40fluttering on the face of the waters and
13. 0:43God says let light be and light is and
14. 0:47God sees the light is good and God
15. 0:50separates the light and darkness and God
16. 0:52calls the light day and the Darkness he
17. 0:55calls night and there is an evening and
18. 0:58there is a morning day one and God says
19. 1:01let an expanse be in the midst of the
20. 1:03waters and let it be separating between
21. 1:06waters and Waters and God makes the
22. 1:08expanse and it separates between the
23. 1:10waters which makes the
24. 1:13expanse it separates from the waters
25. 1:15which are under the expanse and the
26. 1:17waters which are rare above the expanse
27. 1:20and it is so and God calls that expanse
28. 1:23heavens and there is an evening and
29. 1:25there is a morning the second day and
30. 1:28God says let the waters under the
31. 1:30heavens be collected to one place and
32. 1:32let the dry land be seen and it is so
33. 1:35and God calls the dry land Earth and the
34. 1:38collection of waters he calls the Seas
35. 1:41and God sees it is good and God says let
36. 1:44the Earth yield tender grass herb sewing
37. 1:46seed fruit tree whose seed it is itself
38. 1:50making fruit after its kind on the earth
39. 1:53and it is so and the Earth brings forth
40. 1:56tender grass herb some seed of its kind
41. 1:59and a tree made fruit whose seed it is
42. 2:01itself itself after it is kind and God
43. 2:04sees that is good and there is an
44. 2:06evening and there is a morning the third
45. 2:09day and God says Let The Luminaries the
46. 2:12expanse of the Heavens to make a
47. 2:14separation between the day and the night
48. 2:16then they have been for signs and for
49. 2:19anointed times and for days and years
50. 2:21they have been for luminaries in the
51. 2:23expans of the Heavens to give light on
52. 2:26the earth and it is so and God makes the
53. 2:28two great Lumin Aries the great luminary
54. 2:31for the rule of the day and the small
55. 2:33luminary and the stars for the rule of
56. 2:36the night and God gives them in the
57. 2:38expanse of the Heavens to give light on
58. 2:40the earth and to rule over day and night
59. 2:43and to make a separation between the
60. 2:45light of the darkness and God sees that
61. 2:48is good and there is an evening and
62. 2:50there is a morning the fourth day and
63. 2:53God says let the waters team with the
64. 2:56teeming living creatures and let the
65. 2:57birds fly above the Earth on the face of
66. 3:00the expanse of the heavens and God
67. 3:02creates the great dragons and every
68. 3:04living creature that is creeping which
69. 3:06the waters have teemed with after which
70. 3:10kind and every bird with wing and after
71. 3:12its kind and God sees that is good and
72. 3:15God blesses them saying be fruitful and
73. 3:17multiply and fill the waters of the Seas
74. 3:20and let the birds multiply the Earth and
75. 3:23there is morning and there is a evening
76. 3:25the fifth day and God says let the Earth
77. 3:29bring forth the living creatures after
78. 3:32its kind livestock and creeping thing
79. 3:35and the Beast of the earth after its
80. 3:36kind and it is so and God makes the
81. 3:39Beast of the earth after its kind and
82. 3:42the livestock after their kind and every
83. 3:44creeping thing on the ground after its
84. 3:47kind and God sees that is good and God
85. 3:50says let us make man in our image
86. 3:52according to our likeness and let them
87. 3:54be the ruler over the fish of the sea
88. 3:56and over the bird of the heavens and
89. 3:58over livestock and over all the Earth
90. 4:01and over every creeping thing that is
91. 4:03creeping on the earth and God creates
92. 4:06Man In His Image and in the image of God
93. 4:08he created him and male and female he
94. 4:11created them and God blesses them and
95. 4:14God says to them be fruitful and
96. 4:16multiply and fill the Earth and subdue
97. 4:18it and rule over the fish of the sea and
98. 4:22over the birds of the heavens and over
99. 4:24every living creeping thing on earth and
100. 4:27God says behold I've given you the her
101. 4:29sewing seed which is on the face of the
102. 4:32Earth and every tree in which the fruit
103. 4:34is of the tree is sewing seed and it is
104. 4:36for your food and to every beast of the
105. 4:39earth and every bird of the heavens and
106. 4:41every creeping thing on earth which is
107. 4:44Breath of Life and every herb is food
108. 4:47and so it is so and God sees all he has
109. 4:50done and behold it is very good and
110. 4:53there is an evening and there is a
111. 4:55morning the sixth day here is the end of
112. 4:58this reading best me about
113. 5:00amen um so Genesis 1 the beginning of
114. 5:05the Bible as I said yesterday I'll be
115. 5:07reading a chapter a day um and yeah
116. 5:12sometimes I will offer a reflection on
117. 5:14what I've read May other times I'm not I
118. 5:17I'll do what the spirit tells me um I
119. 5:19guess my reflection on chapter one and
120. 5:22that kind of you know that Narrative of
121. 5:24God creating the world in six days and
122. 5:27rested on the seventh day which is what
123. 5:30we've just heard and creating all the
124. 5:33animals on the Earth and creating man
125. 5:36and woman um to rule over and to be the
126. 5:40first humans um you know we can get
127. 5:43straight away into that thought of the
128. 5:44literal reading of the Bible you know
129. 5:47and I guess people who reject the Bible
130. 5:49reject that literal interpretation was
131. 5:52it seven days was Adam an eve the first
132. 5:54humans on the earth you know if they
133. 5:57were the first humans on the earth then
134. 5:59how how did their family K and abble how
135. 6:02did they procreate where did the wives
136. 6:03come from etc etc um so it gets straight
137. 6:07away into that I guess that conflict of
138. 6:09literal reading versus metaphorical
139. 6:11reading and how we relate to what we've
140. 6:14heard um you know one way I've heard it
141. 6:16interpreted and this isn't me saying
142. 6:19this is how you have to believe it but
143. 6:21one priest did tell me years ago that
144. 6:23actually when we think about the word
145. 6:25world this is God's world and this is a
146. 6:27new God's world new God's Kingdom on on
147. 6:31Earth is that you know if you think
148. 6:33about how we use that word world we have
149. 6:35Sports World we have the entertainment
150. 6:36world you know we have the education
151. 6:39World etc etc um so this is God's new
152. 6:43God's world on Earth and Adam and Eve
153. 6:44were the first people um that establish
154. 6:47in that world but it doesn't necessarily
155. 6:49mean they were the first humans on the
156. 6:50world there are other humans doing what
157. 6:53they're doing that existed a long time
158. 6:55before but actually this was the point
159. 6:57when God establishes new New Kingdom and
160. 7:00his new nation and um the new world if
161. 7:03you like so that's why there
162. 7:05establishers the first humans but they
163. 7:07weren't liter well the first people in
164. 7:09God's kingdom they weren't literally the
165. 7:10first humans on the world so you know
166. 7:13take as that as you will um I think it's
167. 7:15an interesting interpretation which
168. 7:18doesn't take the literal s days and
169. 7:22first humans on the earth um but it
170. 7:25explains kind of you know what we mean
171. 7:27by a new dawn and a new kind of creation
172. 7:30if you like so yeah that's just one
173. 7:32interpretation but everyone will have
174. 7:34different
175. 7:35interpretations um if you are listen to
176. 7:37this you know when you've got comment
177. 7:39and opinion also you know do leave
178. 7:41comment as well um but as I said before
179. 7:44I'm doing this to hold myself
180. 7:46accountable not necessarily for the
181. 7:47likes and the and the that kind of thing
182. 7:51um you know I I read a chapter a day of
183. 7:54the Bible previously takes just over 3
184. 7:57years um but now with the ethiop Bible
185. 8:00which is 110 books rather than 66 books
186. 8:03um you know it's a New Journey and also
187. 8:06because I'm you know baptized now into
188. 8:08the Ethiopian Orthodox Church named
189. 8:11harly Mariam um that you know it's a
190. 8:14diff it's a new education so yeah give
191. 8:18thanks anyone who's listening and uh
