  1. 0:00welcome back is the Ben Shapiro show
  2. 0:01we're taking your phone calls at eight
  3. 0:02five five to thirty six thirty to twenty
  4. 0:04eight that's eight five five to thirty
  5. 0:06six thirty to twenty eight Mario in
  6. 0:07California you're on the bench pure
  7. 0:08struggle for Mario hey how's it going
  8. 0:12hey go for it sir so I have a few
  9. 0:16questions I guess one is how has been
  10. 0:18defined and I think it was Michael knows
  11. 0:20moles who claims on your show ammonia
  12. 0:22subbing in one day that homosexuality is
  13. 0:25the deadliest of all sin so I was just
  14. 0:27curious as to why homosexuality would be
  15. 0:29propped up and labeled as the deadliest
  16. 0:30thing as opposed to like murder so on a
  17. 0:32fairly certain yeah so so I'm fairly
  18. 0:34certain that that is not what he
  19. 0:37actually said I think well I think well
  20. 0:38I think what you're referring to is
  21. 0:40Michael mole said that pride is the
  22. 0:41deadliest sin right not gay pride just
  23. 0:43pride generally and so you said that any
  24. 0:45aspect in which you are sinning and then
  25. 0:47you are prideful about your sin is the
  26. 0:49deadliest sin so he wasn't saying that
  27. 0:50like if you're prideful about being a
  28. 0:51murderer presumably that would be
  29. 0:53according to Knowles the deadly sin I I
  30. 0:54really really do I mean I know my pretty
  31. 0:56well I really don't think Michael thinks
  32. 0:58that of all these sins that human beings
  33. 1:00can commit homosexuality homosexual
  34. 1:02activity is the deadliest sin by any
  35. 1:04stretch by the way I think you're hard
  36. 1:05pressed to find any religious figure who
  37. 1:07actually believes that homosexual
  38. 1:08activity is the deadliest of all sin I
  39. 1:09mean even even the people who are super
  40. 1:12anti-gay activity people who think that
  41. 1:15it's a real sin I mean that the
  42. 1:17perspective of religious people that
  43. 1:18I've found is that I mean everybody sins
  44. 1:21this is one sin among many sins that the
  45. 1:24entire chapter in Leviticus that talks
  46. 1:26about homosexual activity lists off 45
  47. 1:30different types of sexual activity that
  48. 1:31are banned right not 45 but it's a it's
  49. 1:33more like at least a dozen maybe a
  50. 1:35couple of dozen right you're not
  51. 1:36supposed sleep with your aunt you're not
  52. 1:37supposed to sleep with animals you're
  53. 1:38not supposed to sleep with your father's
  54. 1:40wife rightly there's like a bunch of
  55. 1:41them and homosexual activity is just one
  56. 1:43of many so they say that it's like
  57. 1:45ranked higher on the scale of sin that I
  58. 1:47don't think Michael has ever said in
  59. 1:48order I think Michael maintains that
  60. 1:49what he has said is that if you are
  61. 1:51running around shouting about how you
  62. 1:52are proud that you are committing what
  63. 1:55is a biblical sin then that would be a
  64. 1:57weird thing to do no matter what the
  65. 1:58biblical scent is so I just want to be
  66. 2:00fair to Michael who I mean let's be real
  67. 2:01about this Michaels the worst but I
  68. 2:02don't think that Michael actually said
  69. 2:04that right Mario okay so is it because
  70. 2:08of that pride that you think that there
  71. 2:10is a particular resentment for
  72. 2:11homosexuality and religious groups or
  73. 2:13and what
  74. 2:13people like me who like I'm a gay
  75. 2:15conservative so like what can people
  76. 2:17like me do who maybe don't prescribe to
  77. 2:19a lot of the different things that come
  78. 2:21along with you know the LGBT community
  79. 2:23the hook-up culture the drugs and me
  80. 2:25know first of all I'm not sure that
  81. 2:28anybody should be particularly proud of
  82. 2:29the sex that they are having okay so
  83. 2:35it's it's oh it's it's one part of your
  84. 2:38life right I mean it's it just as my
  85. 2:39sexual relationship with my wife is one
  86. 2:41part of my life
  87. 2:43some people consider that sinful some
  88. 2:44people consider that not sinful and
  89. 2:46frankly you know I'm not sure why you
  90. 2:47should care what what I have to say
  91. 2:49about it right I mean like if I may not
  92. 2:51like your perspective you may not like
  93. 2:53mine as long as I'm not attempting to
  94. 2:54cram down my perspective via the power
  95. 2:55of government then I don't see why there
  96. 2:57really should be a conflict on all of
  97. 2:58this I mean when we're talking politics
  98. 3:00specifically we are talking about the
  99. 3:01role of the federal government or the
  100. 3:03role of the state government in policing
  101. 3:05particular activity I don't know a
  102. 3:08single Republican in America really I
  103. 3:10mean is it there they may exist I mean
  104. 3:12I'm not saying they don't exist I'm sure
  105. 3:13their son but I don't know any
  106. 3:14Republicans right now who are calling
  107. 3:16for the outlawing of gay sex for example
  108. 3:19like that I think went by the wayside in
  109. 3:22Lawrence vs Texas I mean in terms of
  110. 3:24Supreme Court law which was 2003 so it's
  111. 3:27been it's been quite a while here so as
  112. 3:29far as sort of the generalized
  113. 3:31perspective on why so many consumers are
  114. 3:34upset about it I think conservatives are
  115. 3:36upset about a couple of things when it
  116. 3:37comes to when it comes to sort of the
  117. 3:39gay pride movement one is the suggestion
  118. 3:41that homosexual marriage and
  119. 3:43heterosexual marriage are identical and
  120. 3:44the same and work the same in terms of
  121. 3:46moral value and that is a critique with
  122. 3:48which I generally agree I think that
  123. 3:49homosexual relationships are not built
  124. 3:51around the bearing and rearing of
  125. 3:52children whereas heterosexual
  126. 3:54relationships ideally we're supposed to
  127. 3:55be for that matter by the way not all
  128. 3:56heterosexual relationships are created
  129. 3:58equal
  130. 3:58right this is why I am not in favor of
  131. 4:00men and women living together in
  132. 4:02so-called said right as a religious
  133. 4:03person so so that I think people
  134. 4:05disagree with I think the idea that we
  135. 4:08that religious people are to be that
  136. 4:12their children are to be forced by the
  137. 4:13state to be taught this particular
  138. 4:15version of sexual values namely that any
  139. 4:17value that sexual consent is the only
  140. 4:19value that's something the religious
  141. 4:21people don't believe right religious
  142. 4:22people believe that consent is a value
  143. 4:24but it is not the only value meaning
  144. 4:25there's lots of things people can sense
  145. 4:27you
  146. 4:27that on a religious level I object to
  147. 4:29and think is a problem but when it comes
  148. 4:31to government then we all agree then
  149. 4:32then we generally agree that consensus
  150. 4:34is the typical value that matters the
  151. 4:36most Mario yeah okay so sorry to bog up
  152. 4:41the line but outside of politics then
  153. 4:43unlike the cultural level and in
  154. 4:45personal relationships with what might
  155. 4:47be the best way for me to I don't know
  156. 4:50exactly what the question is yeah no I
  157. 4:53mean I think that the if the question is
  158. 4:54you know are religious people sitting in
  159. 4:56judgment on you and judging you and
  160. 4:57making fun of you behind your back or
  161. 4:58something I don't think that's right I
  162. 5:00really don't I mean and not if they're
  163. 5:02good ready but let me put it that way I
  164. 5:03think that well you know I'm not gonna
  165. 5:05play the I'm not gonna play the I have
  166. 5:06gay friends card cuz it's stupid but the
  167. 5:08reality is that most but the reality is
  168. 5:10the most religious people and most
  169. 5:12conservative people know people who are
  170. 5:13gay and they and even if they believe
  171. 5:15that the homosexual activity itself is a
  172. 5:18sin I know tons of people who are
  173. 5:19sinners I'm a sinner we're all sinners
  174. 5:21I've yet to meet a religious person who
  175. 5:22doesn't believe that we all sin and then
  176. 5:24the question is how you deal with that
  177. 5:26sin and I don't actually have to you
  178. 5:28know believe that what you're doing is
  179. 5:29not a sin in order to say that you're
  180. 5:31human being who's trying is best and and
  181. 5:33a human being who's trying to do what
  182. 5:35what you know they feel is right in life
  183. 5:38and we can disagree on sin that's that's
  184. 5:40okay and you don't you can't force me to
  185. 5:42think that what you're doing is not
  186. 5:42sinful and I can't force you to agree
  187. 5:45that you ought to see some particular
  188. 5:47activity via force of government yeah I
  189. 5:49think it's difficult to feel like you're
  190. 5:51fighting against resentment from certain
  191. 5:53people but outside of that I'm not gonna
  192. 5:55bog out the line anymore
  193. 5:56yeah no I mean Mario I would say all I
  194. 5:57would say is that I don't religious
  195. 5:59people say this all the time and it is
  196. 6:01actually true religious people resent
  197. 6:03sin they do not resent the sinner and if
  198. 6:05they resent the sinner and not the sin
  199. 6:07then they're not being religious they're
  200. 6:09actually violating the precepts of their
  201. 6:10own religion and you can ask any pastor
  202. 6:12a priest about this they would agree any
  203. 6:13rabbi same thing okay really appreciate
  204. 6:15it Mario thanks so much okay let's see
  205. 6:17who else Matthew in Fredericksburg
  206. 6:19you're on the bench pure struggle for
  207. 6:21Matthew yes so I'm obviously living in
  208. 6:26Virginia and we're going through our in
  209. 6:28our government here all the gun laws
  210. 6:30that are trying to pass gun control laws
  211. 6:32and so forth I'm curious as if you know
  212. 6:36how much after all this has said and
  213. 6:40that the federal government could step
  214. 6:42in and try to stop this infringement on
  215. 6:45our Second Amendment so I think that it
  216. 6:47is quite unlikely that the federal
  217. 6:49government has the ability to step in
  218. 6:51too much with regard to Virginia gun
  219. 6:53laws it's up to the Supreme Court
  220. 6:54unfortunately and theoretically you
  221. 6:56could have the federal government pass
  222. 6:58concealed carry reciprocity for example
  223. 7:00and suggest that the privileges and
  224. 7:01immunities Clause applies to gun
  225. 7:03ownership that if you have a gun license
  226. 7:04in one state you should be able to carry
  227. 7:05that across state lines into another
  228. 7:06state that could be done at the federal
  229. 7:08level but I don't think that the federal
  230. 7:10army is going to be sent in in order to
  231. 7:12stop the stop the state of Virginia from
  232. 7:16passing gun law I mean there's there's
  233. 7:18effective gun law in California and New
  234. 7:20York and Massachusetts all over the
  235. 7:21country so unfortunately it's gonna have
  236. 7:23to be fought out at the state level
  237. 7:25Matthew which by the way is probably
  238. 7:26where it should be fought out I mean
  239. 7:27people tend to forget that the
  240. 7:28Constitution of the United States
  241. 7:29originally applied only the federal
  242. 7:30government the Second Amendment there
  243. 7:32may be a provision in the fet in the
  244. 7:33Virginia State Constitution about gun
  245. 7:34ownership I actually don't know the
  246. 7:36Virginia Constitution all that well but
  247. 7:38on the federal level the the the powers
  248. 7:41that were prevented from government on
  249. 7:42the federal level were prevented from
  250. 7:44governments on the federal level that
  251. 7:45didn't necessarily mean they were
  252. 7:46prevented from government on the state
  253. 7:47level right yeah and of course we don't
  254. 7:49want to you know a government that just
  255. 7:52comes in and they ever say every time
  256. 7:53they don't like something and intervene
  257. 7:55right we don't want that right exactly
  258. 7:56maybe we have to opt for it we just have
  259. 7:57to do harder work at the state level and
  260. 7:59it seems like people in Virginia are
  261. 8:00doing that by the way I think that the
  262. 8:02the fight back against gun control in
  263. 8:04Virginia will in the end be successful
  264. 8:05there are too many gun owners and too
  265. 8:07many people who leaving gun rights in
  266. 8:08Virginia to for that to end any
  267. 8:10differently Ian in Thousand Oaks
  268. 8:12California on the bench of druglord Ian
  269. 8:15fan of yours but I don't necessarily
  270. 8:18agree with your stance on the Beatles
  271. 8:21and I was wondering if you would be
  272. 8:23willing to change your opinion on John
  273. 8:25Lennon's song imagine no maybe I'd be
  274. 8:33willing to hear I'd be willing to hear a
  275. 8:34case but I cannot say I will find that
  276. 8:35case convincing nor that I will take it
  277. 8:37particularly seriously it's a horrible
  278. 8:39horrible song it is a pretentious
  279. 8:40ridiculous song it's suggestion that if
  280. 8:43you imagine a world without borders
  281. 8:44religion or heaven that this would
  282. 8:46suddenly make things better that's just
  283. 8:48the Soviet Union no borders no religion
  284. 8:50no have
  285. 8:51Brotherhood of man except for the
  286. 8:52several tens of millions of people we're
  287. 8:54going to have to murder in order to
  288. 8:55effectuate that end it's a horrible song
  289. 8:57it's just a horrible song in I
  290. 8:59appreciate the call but I do appreciate
  291. 9:00your optimism that you thought that I
  292. 9:01would actually go for that already
  293. 9:03coming up we're gonna bring you the
  294. 9:04latest in the democratic 2020 race is
  295. 9:06Michael Bloomberg the man with the
  296. 9:07momentum this is the bench Bureau show
