  1. 0:00Just imagine a god who could swallow
  2. 0:03fire. The fire that was meant to
  3. 0:06consume all three worlds. Have you
  4. 0:09heard his name? But you have never seen
  5. 0:12this form. The Puranas say this god
  6. 0:16transformed eight times. Eight forms,
  7. 0:20eight battles, and the end of a flaw
  8. 0:23hidden within every human. This is
  9. 0:30about Ganesha's divine weapons and the
  10. 0:33broken tusk that wrote the Mahabharata.
  11. 0:36This story is not a fantasy. It is
  12. 0:39written in the Mudgala Purana. On
  13. 0:48centuries-old palm leaves, four names
  14. 0:51are inscribed there. Vakratunda,
  15. 0:54Ekadanta, Mahodara. Gajanana. But to
  16. 0:59understand their story, we must go way
  17. 1:03back. Indra was seated on his golden
  18. 1:06throne. Immersed in laziness and
  19. 1:09arrogance. Due to his own negligence, a
  20. 1:13poisonous drop fell from his hand. And
  21. 1:17from that drop was born an asura,
  22. 1:20Matsarasura, the demon of jealousy. The
  23. 1:23newborn asura reached out towards Indra
  24. 1:26. As if he were a part of the same
  25. 1:29family. But the gods looked at him with
  26. 1:32hatred. Indra laughed and had him
  27. 1:35thrown out by force. Lying in the dust,
  28. 1:38there was now only one emotion in
  29. 1:40Matsarasura's eyes: envy. He went into
  30. 1:43the forest. And there began a penance.
  31. 1:47So severe that centuries passed by him.
  32. 1:51Snow fell, it rained, the forest burned
  33. 1:53and turned green again. But he did not
  34. 1:57budge, and eventually, a light began to
  35. 2:00descend from Kailash. Lord Shiva
  36. 2:03himself appeared. He granted
  37. 2:05Matsarasura a boon that would later
  38. 2:08weigh heavily on creation. The boon of
  39. 2:11fearlessness. You will not fear any
  40. 2:14living creature. Shiva said, and with
  41. 2:17that promise, Matsarasura became
  42. 2:19something else. He went straight to
  43. 2:22Shukracharya, the guru of the asuras.
  44. 2:25The gods rejected you. Now you can
  45. 2:30conquer the gods too. His two sons
  46. 2:33stepped forward. Weapons were raised.
  47. 2:36Armies stood ready. The conch for war
  48. 2:39was blown. Heaven fell. Indra's palaces
  49. 2:42burned to ashes. Earth fell. Kings
  50. 2:47bowed at his feet. And the serpent
  51. 2:51kings of Patala also took off their
  52. 2:53crowns and laid them before him. All
  53. 2:56three worlds were chained in the same
  54. 2:58shackle. But there was one place where
  55. 3:01this darkness had not yet reached. The
  56. 3:04gods rushed to Shiva. But Shiva could
  57. 3:07do nothing. The very boon he had
  58. 3:10granted was now tying his hands. A tear
  59. 3:14froze in his eye. Then a golden ray
  60. 3:18pierced the icy dome and began to point
  61. 3:21toward the south. That ray led them to
  62. 3:25a banyan tree where Lord Dattatreya sat
  63. 3:27. He opened his palm with compassion,
  64. 3:32and from it was born a divine light, a
  65. 3:34seed, chant this. They spoke, and that
  66. 3:38Vakratunda who swallows every ego.
  67. 3:42Appeared. That light burst into the sky
  68. 3:47, a golden lion leaped, the earth
  69. 3:50trembled, and mounted on that lion
  70. 3:53appeared Vakratunda, Vakratunda.
  71. 4:02Matsarasura's sons lunged with swords,
  72. 4:04but their weapons turned to dust.
  73. 4:22Matsarasura unleashed poisonous spears,
  74. 4:25but Vakratunda simply raised his hand,
  75. 4:28and those spears showered down as red
  76. 4:30lotus petals. Then his noose flew and
  77. 4:54gripped Matsarasura’s neck. Sharanam.
  78. 5:03The light of that noose descended into
  79. 5:05his chest, and years of bitterness were
  80. 5:07burned to ashes. His armor shattered
  81. 5:10and fell. He fell to his knees. Forgive
  82. 5:14me, Lord. A broken whisper, and in that
  83. 5:18moment, all three worlds were healed at
  84. 5:20once. In the era, Sage Chyavana had a
  85. 5:27son named Mada. Intoxication was hidden
  86. 5:29in the very name. A fondness for wine,
  87. 5:32and an even greater fondness for his
  88. 5:34own reflection. One night, trampling
  89. 5:36the simplicity of his ashram, he walked
  90. 5:39into the darkness. He reached
  91. 5:41Shukracharya. Why do you seek demonic
  92. 5:44power? The Guru asked.
  93. 5:48I want to rule this world.
  94. 5:52Shukracharya's eyes lit up. Your
  95. 5:55ambition built on such arrogance
  96. 5:58pleases me. Take this power.
  97. 6:04Shukracharya rubbed sacred ash on his
  98. 6:07palms, and a sphere of intense deep red
  99. 6:11light was born. He infused it into
  100. 6:14Mada's forehead. Red and golden veins
  101. 6:17ignited beneath his skin. Power began
  102. 6:21to flow through his veins. He sat upon
  103. 6:24a mountain peak. Time passed rapidly.
  104. 6:27Storms broke, lightning struck. But
  105. 6:30every lightning bolt made him more
  106. 6:33powerful, and then the sky began to bow
  107. 6:36. A divine feminine form began to
  108. 6:39descend. Two massive palms, adorned
  109. 6:41with jewels, came down. Their fingers
  110. 6:44touched Mada's forehead, and waves of
  111. 6:47golden power began to flow over his
  112. 6:50body. He stood up. Now a massive demon,
  113. 6:54his mace sparkled with lightning. Wine
  114. 6:57began to flow from the fountains of
  115. 6:59heaven. The gods kept stumbling. On
  116. 7:02earth, kings remained drowned in wine
  117. 7:05in burning palaces. And the ancient
  118. 7:07protectors of the underworld were also
  119. 7:10chained by ego. The three worlds sank
  120. 7:13into a deep, suffocating intoxication.
  121. 7:16But one place was still peaceful. On a
  122. 7:18parchment woven from infinite stars,
  123. 7:21where the laws of the universe are
  124. 7:23written. Sat the One-Tusked. Holding
  125. 7:27his own broken tooth like a pen. Not a
  126. 7:30single word, just balance embedded in
  127. 7:34silence. His little mouse moved forward
  128. 7:37, and with its one step, waves of light
  129. 7:40spread out. Look, the weight of the
  130. 7:43entire creation rests on this small
  131. 7:45creature without any strain. Ekadanta
  132. 7:48raised his hand. A wave of clarity
  133. 7:51began to descend downwards. Madasura
  134. 7:54was now sitting on the throne. Amidst
  135. 7:57the captive gods on a golden heap of
  136. 7:59bangles. He slammed his goblet onto the
  137. 8:02back of a captive king. Laughing. His
  138. 8:06glowing mace rested beside him. The
  139. 8:11weary gods reached a lotus forest.
  140. 8:14Sitting there was the boy sage, Sanat
  141. 8:16Kumara. An eternal child with the
  142. 8:19wisdom of ages in his eyes. Our own ego
  143. 8:22birthed this demon. Indra wept. Who can
  144. 8:26humble this ego now? The boy’s calm
  145. 8:29smile answered, becoming a name in the
  146. 8:32light. Tvaramen Mushaka. Ekadanta.
  147. 8:42Divya Tejayagatam. Sena. A child’s
  148. 9:14pet? Hearing the amusement in my palace
  149. 9:17, go, lift your mace! That massive mace
  150. 9:50shattered in mid-air, turning into
  151. 9:53fragrant white jasmine petals; pushpam
  152. 9:56abhavat. Ahankaram. Shanti.
  153. 10:08Madasura’s golden armor fell from his
  154. 10:10shoulders, shattering like glass. For
  155. 10:13the first time in centuries, true,
  156. 10:15aware tears flowed from his eyes; Lord,
  157. 10:17he fell forward. His forehead bowed
  158. 10:20into the dust of Ekadanta’s feet.
  159. 10:23Lord, my ego is destroyed, and the sky
  160. 10:27has cleared. In the heights of the
  161. 10:34Himalayas, Shiva was absorbed in
  162. 10:36samadhi. Within an impenetrable circle
  163. 10:39of blue fire, Goddess Parvati stepped
  164. 10:41forward. For the welfare of creation,
  165. 10:44she touched Shiva’s shoulder, and the
  166. 10:47icy silence shattered with a rainbow
  167. 10:51wave; from that rupture, a shadow
  168. 10:53detached. That shadow floated in the
  169. 10:56air, becoming an impossibly beautiful
  170. 10:59warrior. His face changes every moment.
  171. 11:03Sometimes like a friend, sometimes like
  172. 11:05an emperor. His eyes change color. Gold
  173. 11:08, silver, green, violet. Whoever
  174. 11:11beholds him becomes enchanted. He stood
  175. 11:14upon Mount Meru. He performed devotion
  176. 11:18for centuries worshipping the Sun God,
  177. 11:21and the Sun granted him a boon. Whoever
  178. 11:24is bound by worldly perception can
  179. 11:27never defeat you. He assumed the title
  180. 11:30of King of the Demons. Mohasura reached
  181. 11:34the gates of heaven. The guards raised
  182. 11:37their swords, then lowered them, for
  183. 11:39each saw a loved one in him. Indra ran
  184. 11:43to kill him, but instead wept and
  185. 11:45embraced him. Without shedding a drop
  186. 11:48of blood, the crown of heaven fell into
  187. 11:51his hands. In heaven, the gods were
  188. 11:56tasting unseen fruits. Feeling
  189. 11:59satisfied even while hungry, armies on
  190. 12:02earth were bowing before non-existent
  191. 12:04gods. In the netherworld, the Serpent
  192. 12:07King was talking to empty corners. The
  193. 12:10three worlds were trapped in rainbow
  194. 12:12bubbles, completely severed from
  195. 12:14reality. But this illusion of Mohasura
  196. 12:17was nothing before the truth that
  197. 12:20resides within Mahodara. Countless
  198. 12:22galaxies, star clusters—everything
  199. 12:25was peacefully spinning within his vast
  200. 12:28belly. Mahodara placed his palm upon
  201. 12:32his belly, and an echo of truth spread
  202. 12:35outward. His eyes never blink. His
  203. 12:39trunk curled, seeing through every
  204. 12:42illusion of past, present, and future.
  205. 12:44He lifted the noose, crafted to bind
  206. 12:47the deceptive mind. Lord Vishnu stood
  207. 12:51by his side. Both deities advanced
  208. 12:53toward the veil of illusion. The Sun's
  209. 12:56chariot raced over a sea of blazing
  210. 12:59stars, holding all worlds within its
  211. 13:02womb. The Sun spoke, "Only he can
  212. 13:05swallow this lie." He raised his
  213. 13:08scepter, and a spear of solar light
  214. 13:11shot downward. Tearing through the
  215. 13:14clouds. That spear struck Mohasura’s
  216. 13:20palace. Mahodara and Vishnu appeared. A
  217. 13:23wave of truth spread throughout the
  218. 13:26chamber. In heaven, Indra looked at his
  219. 13:33empty hands. On Earth, people began to
  220. 13:35see the true beauty of their fields.
  221. 13:38The three worlds returned to their true
  222. 13:41colors. Mohasura screamed, "Maya
  223. 13:51Vimohasura Rupa, Bahu Vistaram, Krodham
  224. 13:56, Maya Jagat Vyapi,""Sundaram,
  225. 14:13Prachanda Mayam,""Shunyamitam,""
  226. 14:42Shuddham, Divya Jyoti Prakashitam, Hari
  227. 14:48Hara Sharanam, Mahodara Sharanam!" But
  228. 14:54it dissolved into Mahodara, leaving no
  229. 14:57trace behind. His thousands of faces
  230. 15:00began to fade away. A simple,
  231. 15:02frightened youth remained. "Abandon
  232. 15:05your illusions, child," Vishnu said, "
  233. 15:08Truth will not harm you." Mohasura
  234. 15:11looked at his empty hands and crawled
  235. 15:14forward on his knees. Mahodara lowered
  236. 15:17his trunk and touched him. A gentle
  237. 15:19vibration descended within him. Flowers
  238. 15:22rained down from the sky. Creation grew
  239. 15:25calm. Kubera, treasurer of heaven, was
  240. 15:30climbing the steps of Kailash. Goddess
  241. 15:33Parvati stood at the summit, weighed
  242. 15:36down by the burden of jewels. Devotion
  243. 15:39in Kubera’s eyes turned into greed.
  244. 15:42Parvati sensed this, and her anger
  245. 15:47ignited. "Your greed has now taken form
  246. 15:50," Parvati roared. "Let it be cast far
  247. 15:52away from this mountain." From
  248. 15:54Kubera’s shadow, molten metal erupted
  249. 15:57and rose like a pillar. Six skeletal
  250. 16:00arms emerged. Clutching at the
  251. 16:03scattered coins. Thus, Lobhasura was
  252. 16:06born. Those six arms kept trembling,
  253. 16:09trying to grab something in the air. As
  254. 16:12if he wanted to pull the entire
  255. 16:14universe into his chest. Lobhasura sat
  256. 16:16at the feet of Shukracharya, chanting '
  257. 16:18Namah Shivaya'. He taught him the
  258. 16:20sacred mantra. Om Namah Shivaya. But
  259. 16:24the holy sound twisted in his throat.
  260. 16:26Shiva granted a boon.
  261. 16:29Whatever your hands touch shall become
  262. 16:31yours. In heaven, as he touched the
  263. 16:35Kalpavriksha, every leaf and flower
  264. 16:38turned into hard, lifeless gold. On
  265. 16:41Earth, a mother feeding her child water
  266. 16:44turned into a hollow golden statue. In
  267. 16:48the netherworld, underground rivers
  268. 16:50froze into solid metal. Ganesha took a
  269. 16:54dead leaf into his palm. With one
  270. 16:57gentle breath, it turned into vibrant
  271. 17:00greenery. This is Gajanan, the most
  272. 17:03majestic of all eight incarnations. His
  273. 17:09foot touched the edge of the wasteland,
  274. 17:11and wherever he stepped, green grass
  275. 17:13sprouted. Behind him, a wave of life
  276. 17:16began to roll across the horizon. An
  277. 17:20endless wasteland, with Lobhasur in the
  278. 17:23center, surrounded by mountains of gold
  279. 17:26, yet miserable; but on one edge an
  280. 17:35untouched circle of greenery still
  281. 17:37remained. Greed can no longer even look
  282. 17:41at Gajanan’s face. Raibya said he
  283. 17:44chanted the mantra, and cracks began to
  284. 17:47erupt in the earth. Fountains of green
  285. 17:50light rose up. That fountain
  286. 17:52transformed into a lotus. Gajanan
  287. 17:55appeared. He released a stream of
  288. 17:58nectar, and a wave of greenery spread
  289. 18:01at lightning speed. On Earth, mother
  290. 18:09and child were set free. In heaven, the
  291. 18:12Kalpavriksha blossomed once again. In
  292. 18:17the netherworld, the rivers dissolved
  293. 18:19back into sweet water. The three worlds
  294. 18:22came back to life. Gajanana Gajanam
  295. 18:49Gajanamna Magam Gajana Mangalam.
  296. 19:15Lobhasur stood alone. Gajanan moved
  297. 19:19forward. Without raising a weapon, just
  298. 19:22by looking with compassion, under that
  299. 19:25gaze, the gold in his hands became
  300. 19:28unbearably heavy. His fingers opened
  301. 19:31one by one. The gold fell away like ash
  302. 19:35. He fell to his knees. Forgive me,
  303. 19:39Lord. And Gajanan extended his hand in
  304. 19:42blessing. Now consider this. Vakratunda
  305. 19:46was riding a lion. But the remaining
  306. 19:48three were sitting on the same mount.
  307. 19:51The mouse, the smallest creature in
  308. 19:53creation. Because the cure for excess
  309. 19:57is to ride upon the humblest thing.
  310. 20:01Matsarasur is now standing in service.
  311. 20:03Madasur is offering water to the
  312. 20:05ascetics. Mohasur is teaching truth to
  313. 20:08the children. Lobhasur is distributing
  314. 20:11wealth among the poor. All four merged
  315. 20:14into Ganesha’s heart. The four flaws
  316. 20:18fell asleep. Four still remain. Below,
  317. 20:22the fire of anger ignited. Flames of
  318. 20:25lust, chains of attachment. And at the
  319. 20:30very bottom, the most massive ego,
  320. 20:33growing as it devoured itself. This
  321. 20:37segment is entirely based on silence
  322. 20:40and music. The external demons were
  323. 20:43merely symptoms. The real monsters
  324. 20:46dwell within. Anger, lust, attachment,
  325. 20:52ego. The four remaining forms of
  326. 21:00Ganesha rose to meet them. Vikat raised
  327. 21:13his hand. The peacock feather began to
  328. 21:15unfurl. They open their mouths to speak
  329. 21:18. The outer demons have fallen. The
  330. 21:21inner demons are waiting. Wow
