- 0:00This is embarrassing, but as y'all can
- 0:02see, it is stacked. Okay, so we're gonna
- 0:06do the dishes as I tell you about like
- 0:10some frugal living tips that I use in my
- 0:12life to save serious money. So, one of
- 0:15the first things I do is I literally buy
- 0:20quality
- 0:22instead of quantity. Okay? Now, what I
- 0:25mean by this is if I'm going to, let's
- 0:29say, a store and I want to buy a piece
- 0:32of clothing, like I'm going to buy the
- 0:35best that I can find. So, here's a quick
- 0:38example. If a shirt costs 10 bucks, but
- 0:43the material doesn't feel good. It feels
- 0:46like it's about to rip just from
- 0:49touching it. If that's the case, I'm not
- 0:52buying it. I'm going to buy the one
- 0:54that's $60 because guess what? If I buy
- 0:57one white shirt for 60 bucks, I don't
- 1:00ever have to buy another white shirt,
- 1:02honey. So, that's what I'm going to do.
- 1:04I'mma buy the white one for 60 bucks cuz
- 1:07I don't never I don't ever have to buy
- 1:09another white one. You get it? I think
- 1:11you got it. And interestingly enough,
- 1:14the same thing applies as it relates to
- 1:16colors. So, I'm a neutral girly. Do I
- 1:20wear colors? Absolutely.
- 1:22Like, what do y'all think I am? I wear
- 1:25colors, but most of my clothing is
- 1:28freaking neutral. Like, I'm wearing
- 1:31black and gray. In my previous video, I
- 1:34was wearing black and olive. And in my
- 1:38next video,
- 1:40before that, I was wearing black and
- 1:41tan. Okay? Like black, black, black,
- 1:45like I'm going to a freaking funeral.
- 1:47But yeah, it is what it is. I I love
- 1:50neutral colors because I can literally
- 1:52just grab it and go and
- 1:56it matches with almost everything. Okay,
- 1:59so I'm mainly a neutral girly because I
- 2:02don't have to buy this orange shirt to
- 2:04match with this orange stripe skirt that
- 2:07I have. Wo, that would look super crazy,
- 2:10by the way. Yeah, let me look at my
- 2:13notes cuz I'm using notes. All right, so
- 2:15the same thing applies for jewelry.
- 2:17Everything that I wear is always solid
- 2:2118 or 14 karat gold or platinum. I do
- 2:26not wear
- 2:28nothing's wrong with it, but I don't
- 2:30wear sterling silver. I don't wear
- 2:32anything that's goldplated. I'm just not
- 2:36going to do it. And nothing's wrong with
- 2:38that. Here's why I just don't do it.
- 2:40First of all, I remember I went to a
- 2:43jewelry store, very, very popular
- 2:46jewelry store in the United States that
- 2:48is big on sterling silver. They sell
- 2:52fancy bracelets with the charms. If you
- 2:56know, you know. And one day I was like,
- 2:59hm, I should go shave my legs. Let me
- 3:02put on some near. It accidentally, the
- 3:04near accidentally got on that very
- 3:06expensive bracelet and it got damaged.
- 3:10So right there and then that stern
- 3:13silver bracelet I had to throw in the
- 3:15trash. Like for what? You get what I'm
- 3:18saying? Cuz I don't take off my jewelry.
- 3:21Like I don't have time for that. So I
- 3:24had to throw out that bracelet and then
- 3:27I wasted all that money for what? To say
- 3:30I had a a fancy bracelet from this
- 3:32specific store. Like no, I'm not doing
- 3:35that again. So, um I'm saying that to
- 3:39say I prefer quality over quantity.
- 3:44Okay? I prefer have one solid gold
- 3:48bracelet that I that that will make me
- 3:51feel like I don't ever have to buy
- 3:52another bracelet for the rest of my
- 3:54life. And that's girl math. The same
- 3:56thing for things like perfume. Like
- 3:59there are certain perfume where you
- 4:01spray it and by the time you get out the
- 4:03door, the scent is gone. Those are the
- 4:06cheap ones. I prefer the more expensive
- 4:10oilbased ones because they will last
- 4:13forever and a day. All right, so that's
- 4:16what I'm buying. And I know y'all might
- 4:18be like, "Oh, that's not frugal." But
- 4:21think about it. If you buy that cheap
- 4:24perfume and you're going to have to
- 4:26spray it 15 times in order to smell it
- 4:30in comparison to a good strong oilbased
- 4:34scent where you could spray three times
- 4:37and the scent is just there lasting for
- 4:41the entire day. Like which would you
- 4:43prefer? Like which would you prefer?
- 4:47Like think about it. So yeah, same thing
- 4:49for lotions.
- 4:51my skin will be dry and I'm lotion I'll
- 4:54put lotion on my skin and it still looks
- 4:57dry. I had to do it like three four
- 4:58times. Like just get a good body cream,
- 5:04okay? Trust me on this one. Get a good
- 5:07body cream and you won't regret it. I
- 5:10promise you. The next thing I do is yeah
- 5:14to save money it's I just invest in
- 5:19sensible skin care. And when I say
- 5:23sensible skin care in no way am I saying
- 5:26that skin care that I see all the beauty
- 5:29gurus doing online is not sensible. But
- 5:33let me be real with y'all. And I and
- 5:35this is coming from someone who had
- 5:38horrible
- 5:40horrible skin. Like I'm going to try to
- 5:42attach or insert a picture somewhere.
- 5:45Hopefully I can find it. But this is
- 5:47coming from someone. When I say
- 5:49horrible, I mean makeup alone could not
- 5:52do it for me. It it it it wouldn't cut
- 5:54it. Okay? Plain and simple. It wouldn't
- 5:57work. The texture under my skin was also
- 6:00bad because all that was showing under
- 6:02the M. Listen, this is a long story, but
- 6:05just know my skin was probably the most
- 6:07horrible on the planet. Went to a
- 6:09dermatologist, got prescribed tre and
- 6:12aelleic acid, and that's all I use. T
- 6:15azelleic acid and sunscreen, and of
- 6:19course, moisturizer. So, I'm only down
- 6:21to four things. That's all I use on my
- 6:23skin and I feel good going without
- 6:26makeup. Previously,
- 6:30you wouldn't catch me at my door without
- 6:32makeup. Like, that will not happen in a
- 6:35million years. Never. [laughter]
- 6:37All right. So, yeah, I'm only down to
- 6:40four products. And all these beauty
- 6:42gurus online, they're trying to promote
- 6:45all these products because they're
- 6:46trying to get you to buy all these
- 6:49skincare products, y'all. And that's
- 6:51just not necessary. You don't need all
- 6:53that. Go to a dermatologist.
- 6:56If you don't have insurance,
- 6:58try to get insurance. And cuz I spend
- 7:02like 20 bucks for for each tube. And
- 7:05that's lasting me like three, even four
- 7:08months at one point. So I never regret
- 7:10it. This is the least amount of money
- 7:12I've ever spent on skin care. But yet,
- 7:15my skin right now is the best it has
- 7:18ever freaking been. Take that advice
- 7:21from me, cuz y'all, I'm I'm really
- 7:23serious. The next thing is there's this
- 7:26trend going on or this thing where
- 7:28people are waiting
- 7:31Uh-oh. I'm sorry that's a little loud.
- 7:33[laughter]
- 7:34Where people are waiting for 24 hours
- 7:36before they make a purchase.
- 7:39For me,
- 7:42I'm waiting a whole week. Okay, I'm
- 7:45waiting a whole freaking week before I
- 7:48make a big purchase. And here's why. A
- 7:51lot of the times, we might think we want
- 7:54something and we want it that bad to the
- 7:57point where we can't stop thinking about
- 7:59it. And for me, a day is not enough to
- 8:01stop thinking about something that I
- 8:03really want. So, what I'll do instead,
- 8:05I'll wait a week. And if at that point
- 8:08I'm still thinking about it, I see where
- 8:10my life can actually be improved when
- 8:13it's in my life, then that's when I'll
- 8:16go ahead and make the purchase. So,
- 8:19believe it or not, big purchases a week
- 8:22and sometimes more. Another thing I did
- 8:26was to unsubscribe from all promotional
- 8:30emails. So, you know, sometimes you try
- 8:33to create accounts. Um, let's say you're
- 8:36going on a specific website to purchase
- 8:39jewelry and you create an account. They
- 8:41get your email and they will send you a
- 8:45lot of promotions every single month.
- 8:48Oh, we got 25% off. We got 30% off. And
- 8:51then you start seeing new stuff. And
- 8:53then you start thinking that you need
- 8:56new stuff when technically you don't.
- 8:58you just got the freaking email saying
- 9:00that there's a sale. You don't need more
- 9:03stuff. And so unsubscribe from those
- 9:06emails. You we they do these things for
- 9:10a reason. Okay? These are people that
- 9:12have studied marketing, have studied how
- 9:15to increase revenue, and we don't want
- 9:18to be taken advantage of. And that's
- 9:19what they do.
- 9:21I promise you, if you're really in need
- 9:24of that specific item and you're looking
- 9:26for a good deal, there's a whole other
- 9:29company that you could Google that's
- 9:30going to give you some deal or that's
- 9:32having some sale at the time you've made
- 9:34the decision to purchase something. But
- 9:37don't let a company just send out an
- 9:39email and you're like, "Oh my god, sale.
- 9:41Buy." Not in this economy, honey. Not in
- 9:45this economy. All right? So that's what
- 9:49that's that's what I do. It has worked
- 9:51for me. Okay. So next is another thing I
- 9:54do is I try to comparison shop. As y'all
- 9:57know, I'm super frugal. Frugal is like
- 10:00my middle name at this point. So, if I'm
- 10:03going to buy
- 10:06a car, I am going to search almost the
- 10:10entire United States for that same car,
- 10:14same year, same make, model, everything,
- 10:18and compare. I am not going to go to one
- 10:20or two local dealerships and if I have
- 10:23to fly out to buy a car, I'm going to
- 10:25fly out to buy a car once the math makes
- 10:28sense. So, I'm not saying that you
- 10:31should go ahead and take or, you know,
- 10:33make those drastic measures. You don't
- 10:35have to, but girl, comparison shop
- 10:39because that will save you a lot of
- 10:42money. I recently did this with um an
- 10:46engagement ring upgrade. And we did
- 10:48that, you know, interestingly enough,
- 10:51can I tell y'all this? So, I got the
- 10:54engagement ring right last month and
- 10:57then I went on another website and I'm
- 10:58like, I could have gotten this $1,000
- 11:00cheaper and I returned that ring and my
- 11:03new ring is coming $1,000 cheaper. Way
- 11:06better for $1,000. Like, y'all, I know
- 11:10it's common sense, but sometimes scents
- 11:14is not that common when you're just
- 11:16excited about buying something that
- 11:19you've always wanted. So this one eats
- 11:22all the time. So [snorts]
- 11:24I try to calculate all my purchases.
- 11:27Every single purchase I try to calculate
- 11:30how many hours will I have to work in
- 11:33order to purchase this thing. So let's
- 11:36say for example I make $20 an hour and I
- 11:41want to go to a concert and the ticket
- 11:43is $200.
- 11:45I'm going to take a step back and be
- 11:47like, "Okay, girl. Is this freaking
- 11:49concert worth me working 10 hours?
- 11:52That's a freaking Listen, that's 10
- 11:56hours. That's a shift and a quarter.
- 12:00Like, that blows my mind. Like, I
- 12:03probably wouldn't go or someone would
- 12:05have to sponsor me or something. But
- 12:08yeah, that's the frugal me. And that's
- 12:12how I look at life and that's how I try
- 12:15that helps me to save a lot more than
- 12:18you know than you ever know. And next
- 12:21thing I did was to set up a home gym.
- 12:24You guys probably don't know this unless
- 12:26you follow my other channel, but I
- 12:28recently had a son about a year ago or
- 12:33almost a year ago. So, I've been trying
- 12:35to work out to get my body in shape. And
- 12:39instead of like signing up for the gym,
- 12:42I simply just
- 12:45create a mini home gym. So, I have a
- 12:47treadmill with a desk over it so I can
- 12:50work and work out at the same time. Get
- 12:53my steps in, 10K steps. Um, I also have
- 12:56dumbbells and a bench so I can do, you
- 13:00know, squats and stuff like that to keep
- 13:03my body in shape. It's not there yet.
- 13:07It's very far from being in shape. As
- 13:10y'all can see this, I'm saying that
- 13:12because
- 13:14eventually it will come around, right? I
- 13:16just had a freaking baby. I just made a
- 13:18human being from with this body. So, it
- 13:22is what it is. but I'll come back
- 13:23around. And that's what I do in order to
- 13:27save money. I just get a home gym. It's
- 13:31just one splat cost and that's it. The
- 13:34next one that's underrated or might seem
- 13:38a little bit annoying to some people is
- 13:41meal prepping. So, whenever I meal prep,
- 13:45I just get the little dish from Amazon.
- 13:49I go on Amazon. I'll link it below the
- 13:51ones that I use. really good. And I
- 13:53purchased like I have one right here,
- 13:57matter of fact, and the covers are up
- 14:00here. I put them in this and I just pack
- 14:04the food in there, keep it in the
- 14:05fridge. That's it. Whenever I come home,
- 14:08there's food already in the fridge. I
- 14:10just throw this in the microwave and I'm
- 14:12ready to eat. No thinking. So I I
- 14:15usually try to cook twice per week. So
- 14:19every Wednesday and Sundays and that has
- 14:23been working out really great for me. So
- 14:26yeah, I would recommend it's very
- 14:28underrated. Um, another thing is if I
- 14:31don't consume all that food within,
- 14:35let's say, a 2 to three day period, I
- 14:37throw it in the freezer for up to two
- 14:40months. And whenever I'm ready to eat
- 14:42that, then I just go I just go eat it.
- 14:45Because one thing that I always say
- 14:50is this. If you're going to go to the
- 14:53freezer section at a supermarket or the
- 14:56grocery store and get frozen packed
- 14:59food, that's 20 times worse than
- 15:02freezing your own food that's cooked
- 15:04from home. So,
- 15:06why would I not want to do this if it
- 15:09makes my life easier? It has worked out
- 15:11really great for me. 10 out of 10
- 15:13recommend. Now, another thing is
- 15:17shopping for every occasion. Guys, I
- 15:20know we want to shop for the new
- 15:22birthday that's come, the birthday
- 15:24that's coming up, shop for the vacation
- 15:27that we plan for, but not every occasion
- 15:31means you should have a shopping spree.
- 15:34That's not how it works. Because I went
- 15:36on vacation a month ago and I didn't buy
- 15:40a one piece of t-shirt. I didn't buy
- 15:43anything because I already have clothes
- 15:45and as I mentioned in the earlier girl I
- 15:48buy good stuff. I buy good quality
- 15:51stuff. Okay. So why do I need to buy
- 15:55stuff for vacation? I literally don't. I
- 15:57didn't. And I went on vacation and I was
- 15:59good. [laughter]
- 16:01Yeah. Frugal at its finest. And this one
- 16:04I'm giving my sister a lot of props for
- 16:06this one cuz she did it and I'm going to
- 16:09steal this idea. I'm definitely going to
- 16:11steal it. But have a gift shelf. So, you
- 16:14know how sometimes someone's birthday is
- 16:17coming up and you would like to give
- 16:18them a gift. What you can do is have a
- 16:21gift shelf. So, what that looks like and
- 16:24what she has done actually is she went
- 16:26to Bath & Body Works when they were
- 16:28having a sale. The sale was like $3 per
- 16:32item. Originally, or on a regular day,
- 16:35it's like $18.
- 16:38So, what she did was she bought a bunch
- 16:40of soaps, body wash, lotions, body
- 16:43cream, stuff like that when she's
- 16:46getting it for $3 each and she stacks up
- 16:49on that and then the sale ends and then
- 16:52ooh someone's birthday or it's Christmas
- 16:55or you know it's some occasion and you
- 16:58just put a body cream and a spray in
- 17:01that bag that's costing you $6, but in
- 17:04that that person's eyes that's receiving
- 17:06it, it's a $40 value. So, I really like
- 17:09that idea. The next sale they have, I'm
- 17:12going to stack the heck up. Another
- 17:15thing I do is uh I always try to seek
- 17:19out free activities before I try to buy
- 17:22tickets or pay for anything. I always
- 17:25try to do that. Now, there are times
- 17:27when I might find free activities that I
- 17:32don't want to do or I'm not interested
- 17:33in or I don't enjoy and I'm just not
- 17:36going to do it. You don't have to do it,
- 17:38but always have the option for yourself
- 17:42to try to first seek out free activities
- 17:47or things to do before you purchase
- 17:51anything. And that's what I live by. And
- 17:54the next thing that I do is I refuse to
- 17:58get a new car. I drive a 2014
- 18:03Mercedes and I'm not going to trade it
- 18:06for the world. I'm going to drive that
- 18:08bad boy until the wheels fall off,
- 18:10honey. Okay. Um, that's my choice
- 18:14because the average person in this day
- 18:17and age, they're spending like 800 plus
- 18:20up to thousands per month on one single
- 18:24car. And knowing my taste in vehicles,
- 18:28if I were to upgrade, I'm going to be
- 18:30hitting around $1,200 per month. Okay,
- 18:34around there. And I'm like, do I want to
- 18:36be giving out $1,200 for a vehicle that
- 18:39takes me from point A to point B when I
- 18:41already have that? And the answer is no.
- 18:44So, I have a good car. I love it. It's
- 18:47my baby. It's my dream car at the time.
- 18:50Um, and I'm going to drive it until the
- 18:52engine is dead, even if that's 20 years
- 18:56from now. Yeah. But that's it, y'all.
- 18:59I'm going to finish doing these dishes.
- 19:00Um, let me know what frugal living tips
- 19:03you use to save a lot of money. These
- 19:06are the tips that I use or family and
- 19:08friends use that are in my life. So,
- 19:11yeah. I'll see you next time.
