1:25what's neat is we have multiple bodies
1:27coming together to co-host an event
1:29how great is that
1:31and of course we want to make this a
1:32series we want to continue this uh
1:35success
1:36I put on a few Masonic events in my time
1:38I tell you it's a lot of work a little
1:40credit
1:41I'd like to thank Richie for all his
1:43efforts
1:45um you know a lot of Sleepless sites
1:48and of course our primary speaker this
1:49afternoon the reason we're really all
1:51here is the honorable Timothy Hogan uh
1:54he'll be giving his presentation after
1:56lunch

1:58you know I got to tell you it's tough to
2:00get a guy like this he's always
2:01traveling he's always traveling the
2:04United States and the world
2:06and um
2:07it wasn't an easy task so it's really
2:09great that he's here I'm I don't know
2:11about you guys but I'm looking forward
2:12to his new book and I'm going to get a
2:14copy of it get it signed but I hope you
2:15do as well this afternoon
2:18there are a lot of people behind the
2:19scenes I'd like to thank Richard Harlan
2:22for setting up the technical work here
2:24today I'd also like to thank Craig
2:27flight cook for doing the lunch
2:31um I always look forward to his lunch
2:32lunch that includes the special bread
2:35cheese and meats and so forth It's
2:37quality High School
2:42okay so we're going to be talking about
2:44alchemy
2:46and immortality but I think we need to
2:48Define it now I like to do this with my
2:49students
2:51when we're talking about an archaic term
2:53we need to relate to today so it
2:56resonates it's called The Hook method
2:57so we want to hook it to something
3:00contemporary
3:01but let's talk about ancient Alchemy
3:03first
3:04and of course there's several ways to
3:05look at it there's not a
3:09clear
3:11when you're talking about allegory
3:12there's several ways to look at it
3:14there's not one right or wrong one wrong
3:17it's a personal Journey
3:19for me though Alchemy is training based
3:21Metals into gold is actually a metaphor
3:23for turning one's basic life into an
3:25immortal level
3:26and I'm going to define the mortality in
3:28a moment so don't get caught off on that
3:30term
3:32so what were they seeking right when her
3:34terms like the Philosopher's Stone The
3:36Elixir of Life the quest for the Holy
3:37Grail
3:38different terms
3:40basically mean the same thing
3:45but what is all coming today
3:47and this is the really cool
3:49heritage
3:50this is Masonic
3:52charity chemistry-based and basically
3:53all can be today's chemistry modern
3:55medicine hospital doctors nurses Etc
3:58that's our Legacy
4:00their purpose
4:02is to what to extend life
4:05it is
4:06to give Aid and extend life
4:08and we do that right that this is our
4:10Legacy you ever wonder why we give to
4:13Masonic Hospital Shriners hospitals
4:16and of course my favorite is the Templar
4:19Eye Foundation
4:21we do that because that's our Legacy and
4:24we give that money freely we don't ask
4:26for anything in return
4:28don't get me started on I think
4:31hospitals to some degree I understand
4:33there's a profit motive
4:34but when profit becomes the only motive
4:36you lose sight
4:39of what masonry is
4:41and so if you go to a Shriner's Hospital
4:43you won't pay it definitely
4:45we expect nothing in return
4:47that's the way the esoteric Sciences
4:49work we don't do this for today I'm not
4:51getting any money I know my brother over
4:53here is not getting no one's getting
4:54paid for today we don't do this for
4:56money absolutely not
4:58the reward comes from God and what
5:00happens with hospitals I love those
5:02hospitals that allow what prayer
5:04right and they allow people to go
5:06through and give religious comfort
5:09so many times we have all these very
5:11intelligent people running Hospital of
5:13doctors and so forth
5:15but they leave out the god element so
5:17when we're talking about alchemy we're
5:19talking about immortality they cannot be
5:22separated from the god element
5:24absolutely not the Ancients knew that
5:26and we continue in our Quest
5:29so there are those hospitals that do
5:31allow the religious element but can you
5:33imagine all these incredibly intelligent
5:36people
5:38how far we would have progressed if we
5:40did not ignore the God Alone
5:42do not ignore God absolutely not and we
5:44don't do that in craft
5:53so

5:58people like well you can't live forever

6:02let's go back in time let's look at it
6:05from historical perspective if you lived
6:07in the Middle Ages
6:09okay say 1300 did you know life
6:11expectancy was 31 years old there's a

6:21and here we are we have the craft we
6:24have Alchemists
6:25and what are they doing they're they're
6:26they're telling us that you can extend
6:28life
6:30so if you're a poor villager
6:32and your life expectancy is somewhere in
6:33the 30s
6:35and your father tells you or your
6:36grandfather tells you yeah
6:39Mr Mr Smith over here because
6:42has been living forever they would call
6:44them what they call them anymore
6:46even if they lived 100 or 90 years or
6:48120 I've got a boyfriend
6:51from late 1700s it lists over a thousand
6:55people who lived over a hundred
6:58in some cases over 200 years

7:03don't we talk about that because we

8:40because there was no record of his birth
8:42go back 149 years ago
8:45how do you record someone's birth from

9:47all we have to do is pick up a book once

9:51we already have the knowledge to live
9:53that long within the esoteric sciences
9:56and yes Freemasonry is part of the
9:58esoteric Sciences they're they're
9:59several

14:33only support supposed to support

1:56:23so my big thing now is sweetheart let's
1:56:25go to the park and play Frisbee

1:56:32that's what they're comfortable right
