🤯 FREE UNLIMITED Claude Code Alternative That Never Expires (No Ollama, No NIM) — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00So guys, just like me, you've probably searched all over YouTube for how we can use Claude
- 0:04Code for free. But in every single video, they hand you either Ollama or
- 0:10NVIDIA NIM, or just pick up some random platform whose
- 0:14limits run out within a few minutes. And then you have to go searching
- 0:18on YouTube again to find some other alternative. But your search is now
- 0:23over, because you've landed on the right video. Today I'm not going to tell you
- 0:29the same alternatives everyone else is telling you. Today I'm going to show you a
- 0:33permanent alternative that will always work. And this alternative
- 0:38will never expire. And I already know that if you've clicked on this video,
- 0:43it means you came to my videos only after watching lots of other videos.
- 0:47And how to get your coding done for free — I keep posting all these videos on my channel.
- 0:52So you can subscribe to our channel for all these
- 0:55updates. So guys, you all know Claude Code is paid, and you have to pay
- 1:00around $20 per month for it. And it's a really good tool. If you can genuinely
- 1:05afford it, then there's nothing better. But for college students,
- 1:10using this paid Claude Code tool gets pretty hard, because they don't have that
- 1:15much money. So for that, today I'll show you a free alternative to Claude Code
- 1:20where we'll use brand-new models, because in the AI world lots of
- 1:24new models keep coming out. And because these companies need to promote their models,
- 1:30they run campaigns on a lot of platforms. And for some time
- 1:35they give their models away for free. So we'll use exactly these models
- 1:39to get our coding done. And today I'll tell you about three providers
- 1:44where all these companies offer their models for free, to promote
- 1:49their models. So the first company is OpenCode, and to see OpenCode's free
- 1:55models you simply click on Zen. Then click on Log in.
- 1:59And simply log in with Google. So here I'll log in with
- 2:02my Google account. After logging in, you'll find the Models section here.
- 2:07Simply type "free" here. After typing "free", all the
- 2:12free models available here will show up. And you can see we're getting
- 2:17quite a lot of models for free here. So these are OpenCode's free
- 2:21models. And which models to code with — I'll tell you that after showing all three companies and
- 2:26collecting all the models. And after this, our second company
- 2:32is OpenRouter. Here too, we simply sign in. And yes guys, all the
- 2:36links I'm using in this video, you'll find them all in the description.
- 2:41You can go there and copy-paste them. So simply click
- 2:45Sign up here. After clicking Sign up, you can log in with GitHub or
- 2:49Google. I'll log in with my GitHub here. After logging
- 2:53in, it'll take you to the dashboard. On the dashboard you'll find the models
- 2:58here. And you can see there's a search option here. Simply
- 3:02type "free" here. After that, click on Table view
- 3:07here. Then you can see you'll get a lot of models for free here. And this
- 3:12list is pretty long. So these are OpenRouter's models. Then after this, our
- 3:17third provider is Kilo Code. For that we don't need to open a website.
- 3:21For that we simply download and install VS Code on our
- 3:26computer. And if you want to know how to install VS Code the right way,
- 3:30you can watch our VS Code Windows video or the Mac video
- 3:34too. Then I'll simply open my VS Code. After opening VS Code,
- 3:38go to the Extensions tab here. Then search for Kilo Code here. Then
- 3:43install this extension. And you can see how many
- 3:46downloads it has. Make sure you install only this official extension with the tick.
- 3:51After installing it, you'll get a Kilo Code tab here. Click on
- 3:56it. Then after this, Kilo Code gives you some models for free.
- 4:00For example, if I type "free" here, you can see it says Kilo
- 4:03Gateway. Kilo Code is giving you all these models for free.
- 4:08And you can use it right inside VS Code in your projects. So say
- 4:12you opened your project in VS Code, then inside that same VS Code you can go to Kilo
- 4:17Code and get coding done in that project from here. And that too completely
- 4:21free. And the two providers we have left — because Kilo Code's models we'll get
- 4:25in Kilo Code itself — but OpenCode and OpenRouter,
- 4:31we'll set those up inside Kilo Code today too, so we get all the
- 4:36providers in one place. All the free models in one place. You can see I've
- 4:39set it up here. If I type "free" here, you can see there's Kilo
- 4:43Code, there's OpenCode and there's OpenRouter. The free models of all of them
- 4:49are now available to me here. And now I'll show you how to set
- 4:53them up. So after installing Kilo Code, simply go to the Settings tab
- 4:57here. After going to the Settings tab, click on Providers
- 5:00here. Then click on Show more providers here. After that,
- 5:04type OpenCode and you'll find one called OpenCode. I've already added it,
- 5:10that's why it's not showing here. Let me disconnect it for now
- 5:13so I can show you. So now I'll simply go to More providers here. Then
- 5:18I'll type OpenCode here. You can see the OpenCode option has appeared. Here
- 5:22I'll click, and now I need to enter my OpenCode API key here.
- 5:27For that I'll have to go to my browser where I'm logged in to
- 5:32OpenCode. So I'll go to OpenCode, and after that I need to go
- 5:36to my profile here, and click on Settings here. You can
- 5:40also get to Settings from here. Then after that, go to Service Accounts.
- 5:43Then click on Add Service Account. Then after that, you can
- 5:47simply enter anything here. I'll enter "cc". Leave the expiration
- 5:52on Never here. For now I'll put one day here. And here I'll
- 5:55click Create. After this you'll get a key. Copy this key.
- 5:59And simply go back to VS Code, paste this key and
- 6:04click Submit. Now you can see our OpenCode is connected
- 6:09here. Now we'll connect OpenRouter. Mine is already connected. Here, if you
- 6:13click Show more providers and search OpenRouter, it'll show up for you. But
- 6:18it's not showing for me. So I'll click on Change API key here. After
- 6:22that, you'll need to enter OpenRouter's API key here. So for that we have to go
- 6:26to OpenRouter, and click on your profile here. After going to your profile,
- 6:31simply go to Workspaces here. After going to Workspaces,
- 6:34go to the Default workspace. If you don't see it, you can also create a new
- 6:37workspace. Then after going into the workspace you'll get the API Keys
- 6:41option. Click on it. Then after that, click on New API key.
- 6:45Then you can write anything in it. You can set any expiration. I
- 6:49generally set no expiration. But for this video I'll set one hour
- 6:54here. Then you need to set a credit limit. I generally click No limit here
- 6:59and click Create. Then after this I've got a key here.
- 7:02I'll copy it. And where I had to enter the key for OpenRouter, I'll
- 7:07submit it there, in VS Code. And you can see our OpenRouter
- 7:12is now connected too. So now your setup is complete. Now you can get
- 7:16AI to code for you for free. And you can go to model selection here and see,
- 7:22by searching "free", that all the free models from all three providers are
- 7:27now listed here. And you can select any model here and simply get it to
- 7:32code for you. To test it, I'll type "hey" here to show you whether it's
- 7:36working or not. So you can see it's working. So now comes
- 7:40our main question: which model should we use? Which model is good? How will we
- 7:46find out? So for that, simply go to your browser here. Then
- 7:51go to the Models tab in OpenRouter here. After that, switch to Table view
- 7:56here. Type "free" here. And you'll find Table settings here. Go
- 8:00there and remove Input and Output here. Then after that,
- 8:05tick Performance. Then after that, tick Artificial Analysis as well.
- 8:09After that you'll get all the stats. Then simply copy this whole
- 8:14table. After copying the whole table, simply open your Gemini.
- 8:19Sign in with your Google account here. Then paste
- 8:23this here. Then after that, copy your OpenCode models
- 8:28here too. I'll search by typing "free" here. So these models
- 8:33here, I'll copy all of them and paste them here. So now we have the models
- 8:38from both providers. Then after this, we need to copy Kilo Code's models.
- 8:42So go to the Kilo Code website. You'll find a hamburger icon here.
- 8:47Go into it and click on Models here. Then click on Free
- 8:51Coding Models here. Then click on View free models
- 8:55here. And after this, simply copy all the models here
- 9:00and paste them into Gemini. Then you have to write a prompt: "Give me top 3
- 9:05models for coding which have high intelligence and high context and high
- 9:14parameters." Then press Enter here. So Gemini will tell you all the best
- 9:19models. Likewise, instead of top 3 you can ask for top 5 models too.
- 9:24It'll give you the top 5 models as well. So in the models it gives
- 9:28you here, keep in mind to look at the parameter count.
- 9:33So the best model here in my opinion, the one I use,
- 9:37is Thinking Machines' Inkling model. So I mostly use this model,
- 9:42because its parameter count is very high, and its intelligence and everything
- 9:46else is pretty good. Then after this, I use NVIDIA's Nemotron 3 Ultra.
- 9:50That's the second-best model. Then we've got their
- 9:55Inkling Small, then Google Gemma, and then Nemotron 3 Super. So first of all,
- 10:01I use this one. So to use it, I simply go to VS Code.
- 10:06After going to VS Code, select the model here. Go into Kilo Code,
- 10:10then type "free" here, and the Inkling model here
- 10:16is provided by OpenRouter. And you have to check whether this model
- 10:20is also available on the others. For example, OpenRouter is already giving
- 10:24this model. Maybe Kilo and OpenCode are giving it too. So check that
- 10:29as well. Then you'll get 2x the limit. For example, you used Inkling from OpenRouter
- 10:34and you finished today's limit, or the per-hour limit
- 10:38you get — then you can switch to Kilo Code, and after that to the others
- 10:43too. So if I search "Inkling free" here, I can
- 10:46see that Kilo Code is giving its Small version, but OpenRouter
- 10:51is giving its main version for free. So now I can code with it too. So guys,
- 10:56all these models will keep getting updated; you just have to follow the same process
- 11:00I showed you, and you'll be able to use it unlimited for a very long time to come.
- 11:06And now, how to code with it? How to build beautiful websites with it? If
- 11:10you want to know that, just comment. I'll bring that exact video for you
- 11:15next. So guys, that's it for today's video. See you in the next
- 11:18video. Until then, keep compiling the future.
