Forgetting previous problems? — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00I've been doing DS algo for quite a long
- 0:02time but I don't recall any of the
- 0:04previous topics that I've done a few
- 0:06days back. I have a very simple solution
- 0:08and I've been following this for the
- 0:10last few years and it does work very
- 0:13well. First of all understand that DS
- 0:16algo is not about cramming up 300
- 0:19problems from a sheet. It's about
- 0:20understanding patterns and it's about
- 0:23understanding certain algos. So imagine
- 0:26if you're doing a topic like binary
- 0:28search and it has four kind of patterns
- 0:31and you're solving 20 problems on those
- 0:33four kind of patterns. You shouldn't be
- 0:35remembering all the 20 problems. Rather
- 0:38four patterns, two problems for each
- 0:41pattern. Put them into a notebook and
- 0:44every week once revise that entire
- 0:48notebook. It will take 2 to 3 hours. But
- 0:50what will happen is after 3 months
- 0:53you'll literally have every pattern on
- 0:55your fingertips and also try to note
- 0:58down the algos over here because there
- 1:00are certain algos that you will be
- 1:02forgetting. So it's very important that
- 1:03you put them into the notebook as well.
- 1:06Do not cram rather revisit the patterns,
- 1:10understand it and eventually when you
- 1:13get into an interview and you get a
- 1:15question, you will be able to map it
- 1:17into a pattern because you will have all
- 1:19the patterns and algos over here. Got
- 1:22it? And you can follow me for such more
- 1:24placement advices. Thank you so much.
