- 0:02recording 10.5
- 0:06did you read that article in today's
- 0:08independent saying women should give up
- 0:10work to become housewives yes but that's
- 0:13such a middle-class idea most couples
- 0:15these days can't live on one salary they
- 0:18can they just choose not to no they
- 0:20don't we couldn't live on your salary
- 0:22matt
- 0:22yes we could well that's not the point
- 0:25if women give up their careers to stay
- 0:27at home and look after the family what
- 0:29do they do if things go wrong and they
- 0:31end up getting divorced they're too old
- 0:33to start training for a job well um they
- 0:36usually get half the husband's money so
- 0:38they don't have to work they do no women
- 0:42staying at home isn't the answer matt
- 0:44men should help round the house more
- 0:47speaking of which have you read this
- 0:49why men lie and women cry no any good
- 0:54it's not bad
- 0:55you haven't read it have you i have read
- 0:58it actually i bet you didn't agree with
- 1:00any of it you're wrong i did agree with
- 1:03it
- 1:03well
- 1:05some of it anyway oh i am surprised
- 1:07didn't think men read things like that
- 1:09oh that's a bit sexist naomi it isn't
- 1:12sexist it's a fact
- 1:14you know men don't usually read that
- 1:16stuff well i did
- 1:18basically it says that when we
- 1:21if men and women want to live together
- 1:24successfully they need to understand
- 1:25each other better not rocket science is
- 1:27it understand what oh you know uh things
- 1:31like
- 1:32how men drive women crazy how
- 1:35well uh problem solving for one
- 1:38apparently men like to um sort out their
- 1:41own problems they only talk about
- 1:43problems when they want solutions you
- 1:46know what women are like we talk about
- 1:47our problems over and over again we just
- 1:49want sympathy
- 1:51but men think they have to give us
- 1:53solutions and when we don't respond to
- 1:55their solutions they stop listening men
- 1:57do that all the time no we don't of
- 1:59course you do it's classic yes it says
- 2:02in the book that women use
- 2:04use three times more words in a day than
- 2:07men
- 2:08when a man gets home he's used up all
- 2:10his words for the day and just wants to
- 2:12sit in front of the tv with the remote
- 2:13yeah but his wife still has
- 2:16about four or five thousand words left
- 2:19to say
- 2:20and most of what she says is exaggerated
- 2:22meaning women say things like i've told
- 2:25you a million times i'll never speak to
- 2:28you again you never listen to me that
- 2:30kind of thing and because men deal in
- 2:33facts they say well i'm listening to you
- 2:35now that kind of thing
- 2:37then the arguments start oh that would
- 2:40certainly start an argument in our
- 2:41family
- 2:42but men exaggerate too no we don't they
- 2:45do
- 2:46they oh they go on about how good their
- 2:50car is how gorgeous their latest
- 2:52girlfriend is that sort of thing
- 2:54that's exaggerating that's about facts
- 2:57not emotions women say uh
- 3:00you always do this you never do that but
- 3:03matt i never say
- 3:06things like that
- 3:09so you two newlyweds how is married life
- 3:14anyway
