Fixing a big mistake in my Larynx tutorials... my bad! — Transcript

- 0:00So you might have seen a larynx tutorial
- 0:01by me a few years ago and even a remake
- 0:03and there's one thing that remake didn't
- 0:05actually fix. The way I actually drew
- 0:07the larynx, right? Okay, so the larynx
- 0:09is technically this massive bone
- 0:11structure with a bunch of muscles and
- 0:12cartilage, right? You can think of it
- 0:15like this long running tube that goes
- 0:17up, right? So like when you like
- 0:20breathing air, right? It's going to like
- 0:21vibrate on these little things called
- 0:23vocal folds and that's what these things
- 0:25are meant to represent, right?
- 0:28Um now, the video tutorial specifically
- 0:30told the audience to imagine jumping
- 0:33over the vocal folds. Technically you're
- 0:35going through, I guess. So all you need
- 0:39to know is that the vocal folds they get
- 0:41thicker when you have a testosterone
- 0:43based puberty, right? So what that means
- 0:45is we want to like not have as much
- 0:48contact with it essentially. The actual
- 0:50techniques in these videos, I've gotten
- 0:52great results with students with, but
- 0:54this diagram, yeah, I can understand why
- 0:57people have critiqued it. So now, if I
- 0:59were to draw it with a simplistic lens
- 1:02in mind, I'd probably draw it more like
- 1:03this.
- 1:04Yeah.
