5. 0:09machines and heard on tape from Holmes

7. 0:14live to downtown San Jose now where NBC
8. 0:17bay area Scott budman has been in court
9. 0:19every day of the trial there was a lot
10. 0:21to take in today Scott how did the
11. 0:23courtroom react
12. 0:26yeah it's a good question they were
13. 0:28quiet and really listening intently
14. 0:30especially when Elizabeth Holmes voice
15. 0:33came on tape and given that they had
16. 0:35just heard from a couple of witnesses
17. 0:38who testified that they had been given
18. 0:40the wrong information by theranos
19. 0:42machines it was a day of powerful
20. 0:44testimony
21. 0:47the prosecution started the day focused
22. 0:50on faulty theranos testing machines
23. 0:52first testimony from Aaron Tompkins of
24. 0:55Arizona who was told by a theranos test
25. 0:58that she had HIV antibodies only to find
26. 1:02out later the test was wrong another
27. 1:05witness Dr Mark Burns talked about one
28. 1:08of his patients who took a theranos test
29. 1:10that wrongly detected prostate cancer
30. 1:13the jury listened intently this is going
31. 1:16to resonate far more with the jury than
32. 1:20you know sad Tales of billionaires who
33. 1:23lost a couple hundred million dollars
34. 1:24investing in a company
35. 1:26then journalist Roger parlov who wrote
36. 1:29this Fortune Magazine cover story on
37. 1:31Elizabeth Holmes the jury heard recorded
38. 1:34interviews between parlov and Holmes
39. 1:36speaking with a distinctive deep voice
40. 1:39one analyst says the interviews could
41. 1:42create a problem if Holmes chooses to
42. 1:44take the stand in her own defense I
43. 1:47think it's a very very dangerous Gambit
44. 1:49on behalf of the defense because if the
45. 1:52jury is sitting there and they see such
46. 1:54a duality between Elizabeth Holmes the
47. 1:57Persona as the startup co-founder and
48. 1:59Elizabeth Holmes the person that's very
49. 2:01close to seeing someone as a fraud
50. 2:04I should also mention that three months
51. 2:07into the trial the prosecution now says
52. 2:09it is on the verge of wrapping up their
53. 2:11side of the case which means the defense
54. 2:14soon gets to take over which means we
55. 2:16will soon get an answer to the question
56. 2:18I've been asked 5 000 times will
57. 2:20Elizabeth Holmes herself actually
58. 2:22testify
