2. 0:01use my absolute favorite tool for
3. 0:03filming and editing videos this can be
4. 0:05used for any video that you need to
5. 0:07create in your online business whether
6. 0:09you're creating YouTube videos online
7. 0:11course lessons or something else this
8. 0:13tool is going to save you so much time
9. 0:16so the name of the tool is descript and
10. 0:18I'm going to walk you through exactly
11. 0:20how I use it and all of my favorite
12. 0:21features okay so the very first thing
13. 0:23you need to do is sign up for an account
14. 0:25and download the desktop app so let's
15. 0:27take a look at the pricing for a second
16. 0:29you'll see that there is a free plan
17. 0:31that you can get started on I am
18. 0:33personally on the Creator plan because I
19. 0:36like the ability to export in 4k I also
20. 0:39love the AI tools which I'm going to be
21. 0:42showing you how to use today and
22. 0:44unlimited access to the royalty-free
23. 0:46stock Library so those are a few reasons
24. 0:48why I'm on that plan all right so once
25. 0:50you've downloaded it to your computer if
26. 0:52you are on a Mac you're going to see
27. 0:54this D right here at the top of your
28. 0:56screen if you're on a PC it will be at
29. 0:59the bottom let's start with your filming
30. 1:00options so the first thing you're going
31. 1:02to do is click on the D and then you'll
32. 1:04see your options so you can either film
33. 1:07just you on camera like this or you can
34. 1:11choose to film your screen with you on
35. 1:14camera at the same time so you'll see
36. 1:16that I'm right down here I can increase
37. 1:19the size I can change this between a
38. 1:21circle and a square and I can move it
39. 1:24around on screen as well or you can
40. 1:27choose to turn your camera off by
41. 1:29clicking the this icon right here and
42. 1:32then you can just record your screen so
43. 1:35lots of options in terms of what you
44. 1:37want to film so let's say that I want to
45. 1:39film me on camera I'm going to click
46. 1:41camera I generally move myself around
47. 1:43and like make it a bit bigger so I can
48. 1:45see what I'm filming and then you're
49. 1:47just going to click the red icon here to
50. 1:49record it's going to give you a little
51. 1:51countdown timer and then you're going to
52. 1:54go ahead and film your video now what's
53. 1:57really cool about this is it is going to
54. 2:00automatically create a transcript of
55. 2:02everything that I'm saying so that we
56. 2:03can then edit that now let's pretend
57. 2:06that I make a mistake like this and I
58. 2:09want to take that out that's going to be
59. 2:10very easy to do okay so once you are
60. 2:14done filming you're just going to click
61. 2:16the red button again and then it is
62. 2:18going to automatically generate that
63. 2:20transcript okay awesome now as you can
64. 2:22see the transcript has been
65. 2:24automatically generated now before we
66. 2:26dive into editing there's two quick
67. 2:28things that I recommend that you do
68. 2:30number one is go down here to this
69. 2:34section and you're going to right click
70. 2:36on that and click auto level clip so I
71. 2:39like to do that and then I also click
72. 2:42layer and I turn on Studio sound so this
73. 2:45is just going to make your sound a lot
74. 2:47more professional and crisp so now it's
75. 2:49time to edit and we are going to edit
76. 2:52directly from the transcript so editing
77. 2:54videos used to be a really timeconsuming
78. 2:56process where I would need to watch the
79. 2:58video back then make cuts and
80. 3:00adjustments and trust me it just took a
81. 3:03long time now what I'm going to do is
82. 3:05I'm not even going to watch the video
83. 3:07back through my first edit I'm actually
84. 3:09just going to read the transcript I'm
85. 3:11going to highlight any sentence that I
86. 3:14want to take out and then I'm just going
87. 3:16to hit the delete key on my keyboard and
88. 3:18that's going to automatically cut from
89. 3:20my video so in general when I'm filming
90. 3:24a video I make a ton of mistakes and so
91. 3:27I need to do the same section again and
92. 3:29again so I just read and I go to the
93. 3:32last time that I've done that particular
94. 3:34sentence and then I delete everything
95. 3:37above that so let me show you what I
96. 3:39mean okay so here's a good example where
97. 3:41you can see that I was trying to do the
98. 3:43intro and I was like I wasn't quite sure
99. 3:45what I was going to say so I did it a
100. 3:47bunch of different times so rather than
101. 3:49watching all those through I look for
102. 3:52today I wanted to share today I wanted
103. 3:53to share right I find the final one and
104. 3:56then I just go ahead I highlight
105. 3:58everything before it and then I delete
106. 3:59it and then that's it and then we're
107. 4:01good and then you see a much better more
108. 4:05polished version of this so for the very
109. 4:07first time that you edit this video
110. 4:08you're just going to do that you're
111. 4:09going to go through the transcript and
112. 4:11edit out any mistakes now what makes the
113. 4:13script amazing is it has a ton of AI
114. 4:15features built directly into it so after
115. 4:18I've done that initial edit now what I'm
116. 4:20going to do is I'm going to go over here
117. 4:22to the right and click Underlord then
118. 4:24from there I'm going to go shorten word
119. 4:27gaps then decide how long I want the Gap
120. 4:31to be so generally for me this is what
121. 4:32it looks like for gaps any longer than a
122. 4:35second I shorten it to.5 seconds and
123. 4:38then I'm going to click shorten all that
124. 4:41is automatically going to go through
125. 4:43your entire video and remove any gaps or
126. 4:46any breaks that you were taking let's
127. 4:47say you were getting a sip of water no
128. 4:49problem it's going to automatically cut
129. 4:51that from your video so that's probably
130. 4:54my favorite of the AI features but there
131. 4:56are definitely more for example you can
132. 4:59remove filler words you can remove
133. 5:01retakes all of this is going to save you
134. 5:03so much time in the editing process okay
135. 5:05so of course you're not going to rely on
136. 5:08only reading the transcript to edit it
137. 5:10though once you've done that once you've
138. 5:12done your initial edit from the
139. 5:14transcript once you've shorten your word
140. 5:16gaps then you can go ahead and just
141. 5:18watch the video back so I'm going to
142. 5:20click on my transcript then I'm going to
143. 5:22hit the space bar and then I'm going to
144. 5:25be able to watch the video and if you
145. 5:27happen to be doing more complicated
146. 5:29edits and you need to do a few rounds
147. 5:32you can click right here to increase the
148. 5:34speed so sometimes I'll watch it at like
149. 5:362x speed go through it like that first
150. 5:39and then before I publish I'll watch it
151. 5:41in real time okay so this is your
152. 5:43timeline and you are going to edit from
153. 5:45here as well so for this just know you
154. 5:47can zoom in and out to see it more
155. 5:50clearly let's say that you needed to
156. 5:52make a more specific edit or like
157. 5:55tighten it up just know that you can
158. 5:57hover over it hit s on your key keyboard
159. 6:00to make a split okay and then you can
160. 6:03click on it and delete a section and you
161. 6:05can also pull the edges to get like very
162. 6:09precise editing done okay so the initial
163. 6:12edit will be done from the transcript
164. 6:14but you can always come down here and
165. 6:16you can like tighten it up or make any
166. 6:18specific edits that you need to so this
167. 6:21is basically your regular video editor
168. 6:24down here the sun is being chaotic today
169. 6:27and it is constantly going like Li and
170. 6:29darker so sorry if that's translating
171. 6:32over to the video now what's cool about
172. 6:34the script is you can add text Graphics
173. 6:37stock footage right within the platform
174. 6:39so let me show you how you do that first
175. 6:42you're going to decide the part of the
176. 6:43video where you want that to appear so
177. 6:45let's say for example that I wanted text
178. 6:48to appear when I said absolute favorite
179. 6:50software I'm going to go to it and all
180. 6:52you need to do is put a forward slash in
181. 6:55front of it and a forward slash at the
182. 6:58end okay that is going to give you a
183. 7:00scene and the script is going to know
184. 7:02that you want the text or the graphic to
185. 7:04appear on just that section okay now I'm
186. 7:08going to make sure that I click on one
187. 7:10of those words then I'm going to click
188. 7:13elements text and then I'm just going to
189. 7:16type in my text so now because we added
190. 7:21those slashes you'll see that the text
191. 7:23is only going to appear on that
192. 7:26particular sentence and because we added
193. 7:28those forward slashes you'll see that
194. 7:30the text only appears for that section
195. 7:33and you have tons of options in terms of
196. 7:35how it looks so for example I can click
197. 7:36on it I can change the font type I can
198. 7:39make it bold like don't worry about
199. 7:41Aesthetics you have a lot of flexibility
200. 7:44there so that is how you add regular
201. 7:47text it's also very easy to add captions
202. 7:49so for that I'm going to click captions
203. 7:52then this scene choose a design that I
204. 7:55like like this one and as you can see it
205. 7:59is automatically added captions for that
206. 8:01section okay so that's text and captions
207. 8:04but you can also add some stickers so if
208. 8:06we go over to stock and then type in
209. 8:10something simple like Arrow I can go
210. 8:14over to giy stickers click show all
211. 8:18choose an arrow and that's going to very
212. 8:20quickly and easily add to my video so
213. 8:23you'll see that I do this a lot with
214. 8:25these you can click on it okay right
215. 8:28over here and then you can make it
216. 8:30smaller and you can also move it around
217. 8:32on screen wherever you'd like it to go
218. 8:35okay and same concept with that just
219. 8:37make sure you're using those forward
220. 8:38slashes to Define where you want it to
221. 8:40show up okay cool now often I find the
222. 8:42editor a bit too small so I click over
223. 8:46here again I will increase the size by
224. 8:49playing around with this a bit okay and
225. 8:51you can also go over here and you can
226. 8:52change it to Canvas only and then you
227. 8:55can see it your video even bigger okay
228. 8:58but it's not just stickers if you go
229. 9:00over to stock and type something in for
230. 9:02example typing on laptop and then click
231. 9:05show all for video you'll see all these
232. 9:07different videos that you can also
233. 9:09incorporate into your video so for
234. 9:11example if I like this one I'm just
235. 9:13going to click on that and that's just
236. 9:15going to quickly add that to my video so
237. 9:19as you can see the editing process has
238. 9:21just become much faster it's all right
239. 9:24here and easily accessible for you to
240. 9:26just add it in in only a few clicks now
241. 9:29something really cool I wanted to show
242. 9:31you is I'm actually copying and pasting
243. 9:34from previous videos into my more recent
244. 9:37ones for example here is my last YouTube
245. 9:40video and as you can see I've added
246. 9:42quite a bit to this one but what I can
247. 9:44do for example is I can take my little
248. 9:46intro sticker that I have appear here I
249. 9:49can click on it I can hit command C on
250. 9:52my keyboard then I can go back to my
251. 9:55newer video and I can just hit command V
252. 9:59and I can paste it in so that has
253. 10:02actually been saving me so much time
254. 10:04I've also been doing that with captions
255. 10:06so I have my set caption type over here
256. 10:10so I'm just copying that going into my
257. 10:12new video pasting it in and all of my
258. 10:16formatting for my brand is already there
259. 10:18also you can add your own footage so you
260. 10:21can add your own images your own videos
261. 10:23on top of your initial clip so for
262. 10:26example let's say that I wanted to add
263. 10:28this image to this video video all I
264. 10:30need to do is drag it on top like this
265. 10:33and then it will automatically add to my
266. 10:35video and then I can just click on it
267. 10:38and I can resize that place it wherever
268. 10:42I would like okay and I can even click
269. 10:45on it click layer animation in and I can
270. 10:50fade it in okay and same with a video I
271. 10:53can just click on it drag it in and add
272. 10:56it on top of my video now with that in
273. 10:58mind you don't actually have to film
274. 11:00within descript you can film on your
275. 11:02phone or somewhere else and import that
276. 11:05in and then use descript as your editor
277. 11:08so for example if we go file new project
278. 11:13I can just add my title here and then as
279. 11:16you can see I can upload a file so just
280. 11:19like the other videos this will
281. 11:20automatically create a transcript and
282. 11:22then you can go ahead and you can edit
283. 11:24from that so overall this is a really
284. 11:27powerful software it is definitely one
285. 11:29that I recommend you use you will
286. 11:32absolutely get used to it as you
287. 11:34continue to use it and then when you're
288. 11:36ready to publish it's very simple so I
289. 11:38come over here I double check my
290. 11:40settings I often have to flip it to 4K
291. 11:43just to make sure it exports it that and
292. 11:45then for YouTube I simply hit publish
293. 11:48change this to YouTube and then I sign
294. 11:50in hit publish and it's over on my
295. 11:53channel in just a few minutes it's
296. 11:55amazing alternatively you can export
297. 11:58just double check your settings and it
298. 11:59will export as a video file for you so
299. 12:02there's so much more that you can do
300. 12:03with the script I'll have to do a more
