- 0:04Welcome to the Moso Mission Teachers College. This is the first course of the entire curriculum
- 0:10to train teachers in raising disciples of Jesus Christ. This course is called the Basic Gospel
- 0:17Training [now called Foundations of the Gospel] and the vision for Moso Mission for Christ,
- 0:22as a non-profit organization, is to train and help teachers and parents so that they can be,
- 0:31first disciples of Christ, as we're rooted in the Word of God, so that we can train children
- 0:37to also be disciples of Christ. We're in the business of sowing seeds, nurturing
- 0:44young faith in the gospel by watering them with the Word of God. And then, seeing them
- 0:51ultimately mature in their faith so that they can rise up as the spiritual leaders, the summit
- 0:58of their generation. That's the idea behind the name Moso Mission for Christ; it stands
- 1:05for the bamboo tree. And the very special characteristic of this bamboo tree, the Moso
- 1:12bamboo, is that after you plant the seeds, it takes a while for you to see any kind of growth
- 1:19coming out of the ground. It is because, invisible to our eyes, those seeds are now being rooted down
- 1:28deep into the ground, both in depth and width, preparing its way so that when it begins to
- 1:36sprout above the ground, it will not shake or sway but can grow as tall as 90 feet, and become one
- 1:45of the strongest most valuable plants in the world. Our vision is to do that for children.
- 1:54Working with children and teaching them the Word of God is truly an investment of time,
- 2:01devotion, money, our lives. That is why I commend you for joining the MMC Teachers College. I pray
- 2:12that this would be the beginning of much healing in your own life, rooting in the gospel,
- 2:19and confirmation of God's vision that he has given to you to save and raise the children
- 2:26in your nation, in your region. My name is Deborah P. Kim. I'm a missionary and an educator, and my
- 2:34vision is to train teachers and parents around the world; so that we can see young children
- 2:41truly growing in the Word through daily worship;; so that they can become true disciples of Christ
- 2:48and eventually missionaries and evangelists to save their nations and the world.
- 2:55So for our first lecture in our Basic Gospel Training 101, the title is the Disciples of
- 3:03Christ. Let's read the passage for today from John chapter 15 verse 16. "You did not choose me
- 3:12but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit
- 3:19should abide so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you." Amen.
- 3:30Let's pray before we begin. Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for this chance
- 3:38to meet with these very precious brothers and sisters whom You have called, whom You have chosen
- 3:45to be a part of this vision of raising and training children in the Word of God. Thank You
- 3:54for bringing us together like this so that we can confirm the Word of the Gospel in our own lives.
- 4:01And I pray as we begin this course and begin the entire training program, You will bless each and
- 4:09every person at whatever season they're in, in their lives wherever they are in this world,
- 4:15that You would watch over them. Your Holy Spirit will move in their hearts. Touch them deeply
- 4:21through the Word and Spirit, so that they can see who You are and who they are inside of Christ.
- 4:30We give You this time and we pray all this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Amen.
- 4:38What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ? The Disciple of Christ. We want to do that - making
- 4:46disciples of all nations, but before we make disciples we need to be disciples first.
- 4:53And the definition of 'disciple' is follower. Are you a follower of Jesus? Do you know Him?
- 5:01Do you truly want to be near Him and be like Him? Do people see Christ inside of you?
- 5:12So as we learn the meaning of being a disciple of Christ, I pray God will open your eyes to see the
- 5:19word of God and let it be fulfilled in you. There are three fundamental questions in life that we
- 5:26need to ask. The first is about our identity: Who am I? That's a very important question. Who am I?
- 5:37Are you just a member of your family or community? Are you from the U.S., from Korea, Japan, China,
- 5:50from India, or the Philippines?
- 5:54Are you from a nation in Africa like Kenya or Rwanda or Tanzania, or
- 6:03Nigeria? Australia? New Zealand? Vanuatu? Whatever country you're from, is that your true identity?
- 6:14We need to know who we are, how God created us, and what He wants in our lives. That leads us
- 6:22to the second most important question, which is concerning the purpose in life: Why do we live?
- 6:30Why are we living and breathing? Why have we been born in the places we were born?
- 6:35And the last question is about method, about
- 6:39how you should live: What is the way for us to live that is pleasing to God,
- 6:45and that is meaningful? I pray when we find the answers to these three questions today.
