0:05continuing our coverage on the case of
0:07shenan Bella Celeste and Nico watts and
0:09how the man entrusted with their
0:11protection led to their demise this
0:13video is part two in our series meaning

0:56begin in our last video we entered it
0:59shortly after Chris swats was made to
1:00watch the video evidence that would be
1:02used to prove his guilt despite him
1:04trying to make the responding officer
1:06and his wife's closest friend think that
1:08she left of her own free will taking the
1:10girls with her as some form of
1:12punishment to Chris his Nextdoor
1:14neighbor's security camera only caught
1:16one person leaving the family home the
1:17morning of The Disappearance Chris the
1:20footage was notable not only because it
1:22showed that the father was the only
1:23person to leave the house all day but
1:25because Chris pulled his truck into the
1:27garage before leaving an action that was
1:29so out of character the neighbor told
1:31officer krod that it made him believe
1:33Chris was directly involved in his
1:35family's
1:36disappearance all right appreciate your

1:39problem hopefully something comes up

2:11right when Chris watched the footage he
2:13was doing everything in his power to
2:15keep calm he had stood idle in his own
2:17home mere hours after killing his wife
2:19and children while a police officer
2:21searched for his family he calmly tried
2:23to negate any suspicion that had been
2:25placed on him the entire morning but
2:27when he was confronted with the video
2:28evidence of his crime his stress was
2:30palpable he rocked back and forth raised
2:33his arms over his head and blinked
2:35excessively his heart was racing finally
2:37feeling the weight of what he had done
2:39and realizing that in murdering his
2:41family to be with his mistress he had
2:43likely doomed himself to a life in
2:44prison his mind went into overdrive
2:47trying to look as innocent as possible
2:49while also justifying his outof
2:50character behavior when Chris watched
2:52the footage of himself parking his truck
2:54in the garage and off camera loading his
2:57wife and kids into the car he nervously
2:59told the officer officer that he had
3:00simply loaded some of his tools into the
3:02car he repeated this justification three
3:04separate times looking guiltier each
3:06time he did it parking his car in the
3:08garage was odd as he had never done this
3:10before but the sheer amount of times he
3:12felt the need to defend it without
3:13provocation only made the action seem
3:16more suspicious Chris would leave the
3:17neighbor's home trying to get some
3:19relief but immediately he was met with
3:21more police officers at his home Chris
3:24had just begun to realize the situation
3:26he was in but at this point he still
3:28believes that he'll be able to come out
3:29ahead of any accusation sure the camera
3:32showed that he was the only person to
3:34leave the home but it was motion
3:35activated it surely could have glitched
3:37and missed his wife and the two small
3:39children leaving and it didn't actually
3:41show him loading them into the car just
3:43pulling the vehicle into the garage as
3:45far as anyone knew he could be telling
3:47the truth his mind would be racing but
3:49he would realize fairly quickly that the
3:51only way out of the situation would be
3:53to keep his story straight as much as
3:55possible and never deviate from his
3:57original statement or more accurately
3:59the multiple original statements he gave
4:01to shanann's friends and family as he
4:03had told them all different things once
4:05more the body cam footage that we will
4:07be discussing comes from the channel

5:02connecting bathroom doors because they
5:04would make a mess this would appear
5:06innocuous to the majority of people but
5:08to the outside world Chris's daughters
5:10are missing yet he is referring to them
5:12as if they are already deceased in the
5:14article missing persons in past tense

5:20child will refer to that child in the
5:22past tense when they know or believe
5:24that they have died If the parents knows
5:26that the child has died and is claiming
5:28not to that is obvious viously a sign of
5:30guilt however if a parent believes that
5:32their child is dead that could be for a
5:34plethora of reasons perhaps the child
5:36was taken by a person with a weapon
5:38maybe they saw the child injured before
5:40being separated and maybe the police
5:43told them that it was unlikely they were
5:44going to get the child back alive if the
5:46parent has been given a reason to think
5:48harm has befallen their child referring
5:50to them in the past tense isn't a sign
5:52of guilt but that's not what happened
5:54here Chris has been emotionally vacant
5:56the entire morning even when trying to
5:58portray himself as a a caring father who
6:00wants to know where his kidss are he
6:02tried to throw off the investigation
6:03multiple times threatening shanann's
6:05friends when they appeared on his
6:07doorstep looking for his wife and kids
6:09and telling her parents a different
6:10version of events he wants people to
6:12believe that chenan has taken the kids
6:14and left him and that he is a deeply
6:16concerned father but he has not engaged
6:18whatsoever in finding them when
6:20searching around the home he milled
6:21about timidly walking in and out of
6:23rooms without any form of stress or
6:25urgency he hasn't attempted to organize
6:27any searches or find out more about
6:30where his family could be or whenever
6:31officer krod or Nicole has asked him to
6:34help he has found excuses not to he's
6:36been given no reason to believe that the
6:38girls have been harmed besides the fact
6:40they're not there but he knows they're
6:42dead he's the one who killed them so he
6:44refers to them as
6:46such so that was not
6:49fun so does she normally make the beds
6:51the kid's beds

7:15lie about Chris has stated earlier that
7:17he has a routine to wake up between 4:00
7:19and 5: go to the home's basement get a
7:21workout in eat breakfast then leave for
7:24work by 5:30 or 6 he did not as he just
7:27stated get up when they got up and
7:29adhered to their scheduling Chris's mind
7:31is still racing and it's likely he's not
7:33fully aware of what he's saying he's
7:35just trying to present himself in the
7:37best way possible so he can get out of
7:39the situation and take a breather he's
7:41just saying and doing what he thinks
7:43will make this interview end sooner
7:44without realizing that everything he's
7:46doing is making him look worse again he
7:48wants the police to believe that his
7:50wife who he is separating from took the
7:52kids to punish him that is the cover
7:54story he's attempting to go with And yet
7:57when he's in his children's rooms
7:58talking about about what they're like
8:00he's emotionally vacant there's no sense
8:02of anxiety or deep emotion just a
8:04monotone discussing how he was beholden
8:07to their schedule I'll be fast

8:12on the phone with shanann's mother which

9:08house that's all I who was she supposed
9:10to go to that's that's all she told me

9:15house when did she tell you that this

9:27forth again which we know does whenever
9:29he feels like his actions are being
9:31questioned Nicole already confronted
9:33Chris about the fact that he told her
9:35and shanann's mother two separate
9:36versions of events when Nicole first
9:38called him that morning he claimed that
9:40shanan had taken the girls on a play
9:42date but when he spoke to shannan's
9:44parents he told them that she was
9:45hanging out with a friend but had just
9:47brought the girls along Chris laughed
9:49off Nicole's suspicion at the time
9:51stating that what he said was
9:53essentially the same thing but that's
9:54not true those are two separate things
9:57and which one actually happened is
9:58incredibly important moreover that was
10:00one of the first lies Chris pedal in
10:03this case right after telling Nicole he
10:05was on his way home to help with the
10:06search 3 hours before he arrived it
10:09seems as though when his lies are
10:10brought up by law enforcement his tress
10:12begins to build once

11:38walking through fields and stuff like
11:40that I I mean like Hospital you can do

11:52do once again Nicole has shown that she
11:55cares more about the health and safety
11:57of the Watts girls than Christa does she
11:59is the one asking questions asking if
12:01she can start putting searches together
12:03and contacting hospitals all the while
12:05Chris stands idly by thinking of ways to
12:08exonerate himself Chris finally had a
12:11moment of relief when the police left
12:12his home but everyone who loved shenan
12:15sprung into action pictures of Bella her
12:17and Celeste were posted everywhere with
12:19people spreading the word about their
12:21disappearance before the case had even
12:23properly begun the Grassroots effort
12:25made waves with everyone in the Colorado
12:28area being made made aware that the
12:29entire family save the husband and
12:31father had gone missing because shenan
12:34had documented so much of her daily life
12:36online with videos and live streams for
12:38lvll the public was instantly engaged
12:40with the case watching videos of her
12:42play with her daughters and talk highly
12:44of her husband from the outside her life
12:46appeared perfect but then it stopped
12:48appearing at all people began to watch
12:50her Facebook page as if it were their
12:52favorite television show hoping to find
12:54clues in the background of videos to
12:56this day you can see remnants of this
12:58Behavior with people looking at her
13:00final posts and seeing signs of
13:01foreshadowing the police quickly put out
13:03a press statement going over the details
13:05of the case and how they had just begun
13:07their investigation within a day they
13:09had already canvased the surrounding
13:11neighborhood and created various traffic
13:13checkpoints in the area to see if anyone
13:15had seen the girls they too quickly
13:17spread images of shenan Bella and
13:19Celeste and urged the public to send in
13:22whatever help they could the police
13:23urged shanann's friends and family to
13:25continue pushing her name into the
13:27public and so the decision was made that
13:29the very next day August 14th 2018 Chris
13:33would speak to the media for the first
13:34time though there was some public
13:36speculation that Chris had been involved
13:38with the girl's disappearance the
13:39majority of people felt horrible for him
13:41they viewed him as a victim in this
13:43scenario having gone to work one morning
13:45only to return to find his wife and kids
13:47vanished many of the details regarding
13:49the case had been kept private as the
13:51investigation was ongoing so people
13:53largely viewed him as a sympathetic
13:55character but that would all change
14:00a missing person's case lives and dies
14:02by the amount of attention it gets as we
14:04discussed in our videos going over the
14:05case of Sher papini in our video going
14:08over the case of Stacy smart her Fae
14:10kidnapping occurred the same weekend as
14:12Stacy's and resulted in Stacy's case
14:15being pushed to the Wayside the Press
14:17decided to focus their attention on
14:18Sherry given that she was easily
14:20marketable to the public and to this day
14:22Stacy has not been found in the case of
14:25Vanessa guen her family had to force the
14:27police and military into action as it
14:29appeared that they were ignoring
14:31Vanessa's disappearance for fear it
14:33would make Fort Hood look bad they were
14:35able to campaign and gain media
14:37attention buying Billboards and getting
14:39celebrity backing which in turn caused
14:41the case to be resolved it was with this
14:43understanding that Chris decided to go
14:45on Denver 7 news and make a public plea
14:48for his wife and children's safe return
14:50of course Chris didn't want them to be
14:53returned given the fact that he had
14:54killed them and hidden their bodies but
14:56he knew that by not speaking to the
14:58Press and not appearing to help his
15:00family he would only look guilty with
15:02that said let's

15:13the sheriff's department everybody's
15:16like they're they're doing their best
15:17right now to figure out like if they can
15:19get a scent and see where they went if
15:22they went on foot they went in a car
15:24they went somewhere and right now it's
15:26just like they've they've been on point
15:28they're going through the house trying
15:29to get a sent and hopefully they can
15:31pick something up to where it's it's
15:33going to lead to something a day has
15:35passed since the investigation started
15:37but that has done little to soothe
15:39Chris's nerves if anything the more time
15:42has passed since he committed the murder
15:44the more anxious he has gotten we saw
15:45Chris leisurely drive up to the home
15:47mere hours after he killed his wife and
15:49kids we saw him casually check various
15:51rooms in his home for them knowing they
15:53were gone and he seemed fine it was only
15:56when he realized there could be evidence
15:58against him that he began to worry when
16:00he last saw them he likely got a bit of
16:02relief from the police leaving his
16:04residence but that break didn't last
16:06long the reality of the situation he had
16:08found himself in probably had dawned on
16:10him and he is now more anxious than ever
16:12all of the facts in the case Point
16:14directly to him and as more people learn
16:16shanan Bella Celeste and Nico's name the
16:19more likely it is that he's going to
16:21spend the rest of his life in prison he
16:23knows that his actions will be picked
16:24apart and if he were to claim up not
16:26participate in the searches and not make
16:28a public comment he will be seen as
16:30guilty he's walking a tight rope one
16:32that he's going to fall off of the

17:04family by name he refers to shenan Bella

17:12family members of missing persons talk
17:14about that party explicitly the whole
17:16point is getting the family's name out
17:18there and he can't bring himself to do
17:20that pay attention to Chris's mouth as
17:22he talks because his smirk throughout

18:43was very concerning and Nicole called me
18:45when she was at the door and that's when
18:47I came home that is not the truth as we
18:49covered in our previous video when
18:51Nicole showed up on his doorstep he had
18:53already been made aware that chenan was
18:55not responding to texts and calls Nicole
18:57had asked him if he had heard from her
18:59early that morning because she was
19:01supposed to give shenan a ride to the
19:02doctors this is when Chris told her that
19:05he and shenan had separated and that she
19:06had taken the girls on a play date he
19:08tried to Plate Nicole's worries telling
19:10her that chenan would get back to her
19:12eventually and that she was fine Nicole
19:14refused to accept that answer and after
19:16learning that her friend hadn't made it
19:18to her doctor's appointment she went to
19:20the home and tried to use the access
19:21code to get in however Chris had engaged
19:24the deadbolt leaving her locked outside
19:26Chris was alerted to this via the home
19:28security app and rather than take her
19:30concern seriously he told her to get off
19:32of his property it was only when Nicole
19:34stated that she was going to be calling
19:36the police to do a welfare check on
19:38shanan that he stated he was coming home
19:41and even that was a lie as he didn't
19:42return for 3 hours even though the
19:45public doesn't know he's lying the
19:46police do and they will be taking note
19:48of the ways he's changing his
19:50story and then walked in the house and
19:54nothing it's vanished nothing was here I
19:56mean she wasn't she wasn't here the kids
19:58weren't here no nobody was here Chris
20:01doesn't seem to want to say his
20:02daughter's names he has said shanann's
20:04earlier but only in relation to her
20:06friendship with Nicole which again is
20:08notable he continues to distance himself
20:10from the situation and his voice is
20:12hollow completely unaffected by the
20:14events of the past 24 hours people
20:17process hardship differently where some
20:19people are extremely emotionally
20:20affected by trauma others shut down and
20:23go into survival mode so defining what
20:25is and isn't normal behavior in the
20:27situation is hard but Chris shows
20:29absolutely no care or even interest in
20:32his family's disappearance the only
20:33outward displays of emotion he has had

21:13Arizona and I figured just she was just
21:16busy but when her friend showed up
21:18that's what it was like it it registered

21:30there like I hope that she's somewhere
21:33safe right now and with the
21:35kids but I mean could she event could
21:38she just taken off I don't know but if
21:40somebody has her and they're not safe

21:46that's what's in my head like if they're
21:47safe right now they're going to come
21:49back but if they're not safe right now
21:51that's what that's the not knowing part
21:53like if they're not safe last night I
21:56was I had every light in the house on I
21:58was hoping that I would just get just
22:00ran over by the kids running in the door
22:02and just like Barrel rushing me but it
22:03didn't happen and it was just a
22:05traumatic night trying to be here it
22:08seems that Chris at least had the
22:10forethought to not speak ill of his wife
22:12while she was missing in the previous
22:14video we went over how Chris tried to
22:16imply that shenan had taken the girls
22:18out of spite his mother Cindy Watts even
22:20said as much in an interview tell me
22:22what happened when they were reported
22:24missing what what did you find out how
22:26did you find out who did you who told
22:28you I think Ronnie called
22:30me Ronnie called me and said that
22:33they're missing and I
22:36thought I don't believe it I didn't
22:39believe they were missing I believe that
22:41she was going to punish
22:45Chris she was just going to punish him
22:47take the girls and just punish him I had
22:49no
22:50idea of anything else Christopher called
22:54and said mom um they're searching in the
22:58house I said okay that's fine I
23:03mean and I still was not worried I had I
23:08was not worried I just thought shenan
23:10had run off with
23:12girls Chris didn't want his wife to be
23:15looked at as a good attentive mother and
23:17wife but rather a spiteful woman who
23:19would use the kids to hurt him each time
23:21he tried to present this kind of story
23:23to the police and to shannan's friends
23:25and family they rejected it there was no
23:27evidence sh would do such a thing it
23:29seems the only person who Chris could
23:31convince of this story was his mother
23:33who hated chenan so much she refused to
23:36come to their wedding but she wouldn't
23:37miss a day of her son's murder
23:41trial I'm going to ask some kind of
23:44questions your relationship with your
23:45kids yeah I mean my kids are my life I
23:48mean those those Smiles light up my life
23:51and there like I mean last night like
23:53during like at you know when they
23:54usually eat dinner it was just like I
23:56miss them like I mean I miss tell them
23:58hey you got to eat that or you're not
24:00going to get your dessert you know just
24:02like you're not g to get your snack
24:03after I missed that like I miss them you
24:05know cuddle up on their couches they
24:07have like a Minnie Mouse couch and a
24:08Sophia couch that they cuddle up on and
24:10watch you know Bubble Guppies or
24:12something and it was just like you I I I
24:14I was it was T tearing me apart last
24:17night and I needed that I needed that
24:19last night and for that for nobody to be
24:22here last night and to go into their
24:24rooms and not and know that I wasn't
24:26going to turn the raining machines on
24:28and I know that I wasn't going to turn
24:30their monitor on and know I wasn't going
24:31to kiss them to bed tonight it
24:34was it it was I I that's why last night
24:38was horrible I couldn't do it this is an
24:41obvious lie we know this from his smirk
24:43as well as a shaking head in the fact
24:45that we watched him go into the other
24:47rooms on the body cam footage and he was
24:49completely unaffected by their absence
24:51of course one could argue that Chris was
24:53suddenly overwhelmed with emotion after
24:55everyone left but the fact that he is is
24:57still not saying Celeste and Bella's
24:59names and is smirking while discussing
25:01how he missed the daughters he killed Is
25:04Telling I

25:18someone lies every single example could

25:36her flight got delayed from Arizona cuz
25:38of like other storms around the the
25:40nation so she supposed to get home like
25:4211 she got home at like 1:48 got in bed
25:45about 2 What was what was she going for
25:47like family trip or what it was a Thrive
25:49direct sales uh it was a local event
25:51that was down there between a bunch of
25:53leaders and in the company and that
25:56night that day she was back back I mean
25:59I I left work for work early that
26:01morning like 5:15 5:30 so like she
26:04barely let mean she barely got barely
26:06gotten into bed pretty much and know
26:09this might be a tough question but
26:11did did you guys get into an argument
26:14before she left it wasn't it wasn't like
26:15an argument we had an emotional
26:16conversation but I'll leave it at that

26:20it's I just want them

26:45in the article men who murdered their
26:47families what the research tells us by
26:49Bernie actor men who killed their
26:51families seemed to commit the murders as
26:53a way to control the other party he knew
26:55shenan well but he had never seen her be
26:58wronged by him if he were to leave her
27:00for a younger woman while she was
27:01pregnant with the child he stated he
27:03wanted up until a week ago he had no
27:05idea how she would react to that Chris
27:08knew if he left shenan at all he would
27:10still have to deal with her on a regular
27:11basis due to their children he would
27:13still be beholden to her wants and needs
27:15and that he would have to wait at least
27:1718 more years until he could see her
27:19less frequently if he were to go on and
27:21pursue a relationship with Nicole the
27:23woman he had been cheating on her with
27:25she would have immediately figured out
27:26that he had cheated and he didn't want
27:28to deal with the aftermath of that to
27:30Chris killing shenan Bella and Celeste
27:32was just the easiest way to move on from
27:34the relationship and so that's what he
27:37did and if if they're not safe right now
27:41that's what's that's what's tearing me
27:42apart cuz if they are safe they're
27:44coming back but if they're not this this
27:47this has got to stop like somebody has
27:48to come forward you spok up her family
27:51like her parents yeah they've been in
27:52constant contact like every hour I mean
27:55it's I mean everybody back in North
27:57Carolina and the East Coast I mean from
28:01Maine to
28:02Florida what is her parents saying to
28:04you like just like like if they need to
28:07get on a flight just let them know cuz I
28:09mean they don't they they feel helpless
28:10right now cuz they they're on the
28:12opposite side of the country I mean
28:14Colorado is I mean you can't just drive
28:17around and look I mean it's just like
28:19you wouldn't really know what you're
28:20looking for that's what the cops pretty
28:22much told me that first day I was like I
28:23want to get out and drive around there
28:24you w know what to look for that again
28:27is not true true if you recall our first
28:28video Chris did everything in his power
28:31to not help the search even when Nicole
28:33and officer krod thought it would be
28:35beneficial it was only when he heard
28:37that there was direct evidence of him
28:38being the only person to have left the
28:40home and it Dawning on him that he was
28:42likely the only suspect that he asked if
28:45he could go drive around the block to
28:46try and find her he had only done so in
28:48a desperate bid to get away from the
28:50situation and it hadn't worked on top of
28:53that let's think for a brief moment
28:54about what he said about shanann's
28:56parents he he is claiming that he's been
28:58in constant contact with them and they
29:00keep asking him if they should hop on a
29:02plane to Aid in the search and it would
29:04appear based on how he says that that
29:06he's telling them that they shouldn't
29:08which obviously he doesn't want them
29:10there he's a terrible liar who killed
29:11their daughter and grandchildren but
29:13this means he has told her parents that
29:15what is happening is not that serious
29:18even though he knows that they are never
29:19coming home he still thinks he can get
29:21out of this with him making it seem as
29:23if she ran away with the
29:25girls um last couple questions uh what
29:28is what do law enforce what what have
29:31the police or the sheriffs or your
29:34neighbors is anybody what is what's
29:36police saying to you right now this is
29:39what they're doing right now is with the
29:41K9s in the sense I think this is the
29:43biggest thing this is the biggest thing
29:44they've done so far because yesterday
29:46they all federal police department did
29:47all the searching of the house and try
29:49to gather whatever information they
29:51could and with the detectives officers
29:54and sergeants and today it's all I mean
29:56obviously with all the activity that's
29:58around it's it's it's it's there's a lot
30:01going on around here and I really hope
30:04that all this can lead to something
30:07positive what did
30:09um your neighbors did they see anything
30:11that your neighbor no like we've we've
30:13uh the police deparm went door too
30:15asking like cameras and everything just
30:18like nothing this is his biggest lie we
30:21know that there's a video of him leaving
30:23the morning of and that his car was the
30:25only one to leave the residence we know
30:27he backed the car into the home which is
30:29highly irregular loaded the body of his
30:31pregnant wife into the truck alongside
30:33the girls and left but he is on camera
30:35claiming that that doesn't
30:37exist and my last question if you have
30:40any though St my last question is if
30:43your wife can see this if she if she can
30:46watch these what what would you like to
30:49tell your wife and your kids shenan
30:51Bella Celeste if you're out there just
30:55just come back like if somebody has her
30:57just just please bring her back I need
30:59to see everybody I need to see everybody

31:29want I want them wherever they're at
31:32like I have no inclination to where
31:33they're at right now like I've exhausted
31:35like every friend that I know of and
31:38every friend that I have has called
31:40friends that shanan has that maybe I
31:42didn't know about and it's just
31:44like there's it's like it vanished like
31:46she's not like when I got home yesterday
31:49it was like a ghost town like she wasn't
31:51here kids weren't here I have no idea
31:54like where they went and it doesn't if
31:57just Earth shattering I don't feel like
31:59this is even real right now it's like a
32:00nightmare that I just can't wake up from
32:02once again Chris is a horrible liar his
32:04wife and kids are missing and he is
32:06completely stoic and unemotional talking
32:08about how he doesn't know where they are
32:10the words he is saying fit the scenario
32:12this is Earth shattering this is my
32:14nightmare I want them to come back but
32:16it's all said like a teenager being
32:18forced to apologize for some petty
32:20wrongdoing additionally he is starting
32:22this interview as a bit less of a fuddy
32:24daddy the first interview made him
32:26nervous he was rocking back and forth
32:28licking his lips blinking rapidly and
32:30trying to stop himself from smiling
32:32every time he lied but this one he's
32:34coming out of the gate trying to lead
32:35the discussion he started the interview
32:37by telling the reporter that he doesn't
32:39know where shenan and the girls are all
32:41while never using Bella and Celeste
32:43names and immediately trying to gain
32:46sympathy from the viewing public he
32:48never mentions how worried he is about
32:49them how he is scared they could be in
32:51trouble how he hopes that they are okay
32:54when he's leading the conversation it's
32:55about how sad he is all while displaying
32:58literally zero signs of sadness once
33:00more he has slipped in the line he used
33:02an officer coonrod that being that he
33:05asked all the people he knows while
33:07implying there might be people shenan
33:09knew that he didn't again this is to
33:11imply that she was leading some sort of
33:13double life or could have left on her
33:14own with the assistance of an outside
33:19force Chris when did you learn that they
33:22got they want here like yes well I text
33:26her a few times called her I didn't get
33:27a response which that was a little off
33:30and then her friend Nicole showed up
33:32about a little afternoon I see on the
33:34doorbell camera and I was like hey
33:37what's going on said I can't get a hold
33:38of shanan and that's when I was just
33:40like all right something's not right if
33:41she's not answering the door and she
33:42said the car was here was like I got to
33:44go home and got here got inside and no
33:49nobody was here not
33:51nothing again this is a blatant lie one
33:54that is easily fact checked Nicole her
33:56son officer coonrod Chris's own
33:58co-workers all of them can debunk this
34:00story easily but Chris wants this to be
34:03true because if it is true he can get
34:05away with murder he wants to make the
34:06public believe that he is just a good
34:08guy who is being penalized by a mean
34:11woman even though he can't outright say
34:13that mind you when we state that Chris
34:15is a bad liar that's us as a third party
34:18watching him lie and be bad at it he
34:20likely believes he's a pretty good liar
34:22or else he likely would not have talked
34:24to the Press at all and so I read shenan
34:27hadn't taken girls to school which was
34:29yeah cuz like Bella was going to start
34:32kindergarten next next Monday and they
34:35they were just getting ready to start
34:37start back
34:38again Chris once again refers to his
34:41kids in past tense implying once more
34:43that he either knows that they're
34:45deceased or he believes them to be
34:46deceased which as their murderer we know
34:49it's the former but in their reporting
34:51around the case it was found that the
34:53morning of the family's disappearance
34:54Bella and Celeste had been unenrolled
34:56rolled from school initial reports
34:58around this case made it seem like
35:00shenan had done this leading to more
35:02speculation that she took the kids and
35:04skipped town but that's not the case
35:06more on this in a bit and so what kind
35:08of so your friend Nicole kind of tipped
35:11you off at something yeah cuz like she
35:13was here at the front door and that's
35:16when I kind of knew okay like if she's
35:17not answering anybody else either this
35:19is this isn't like her cuz I mean she
35:21she works at direct sales business and
35:24that's her that that's what she does and
35:27for her not to respond to any of her
35:29people that I mean if she doesn't
35:30respond to me that's F I mean like she's
35:32busy she's got stuff going on but not to
35:34respond to her people though that was
35:37that was not like
35:39her Chris you've got a beautiful family
35:41you know and it looks like you all love
35:43each other very much what went through
35:44your mind the minute kind of you're like
35:47something's wrong like I I was trying to
35:49get home as fast as I can I was blowing
35:51through stoplights I was blowing through
35:52everything just trying to get home as
35:53fast as I can cuz none of this made
35:55sense like if she she wasn't here like
35:57where did she go like once I got here it
36:00was like all right who can I call who do
36:03I know that she could be with right now
36:05if she went to a friend's house where
36:07could she be staying and we went through
36:09everybody I mean just everything in my
36:13in my contact list and her her friend's
36:15contact list and nothing has come up
36:18everybody has said like they haven't
36:19heard from her either this is a crazy
36:21thing to say when you know there's video
36:23proof that would show otherwise first
36:25off it took him 3 hours to arrive back
36:28at the home longer still because Nicole
36:30had been trying to get him involved the
36:32entire morning moreover he drove up at
36:34an incredibly reasonable Pace sorted
36:37through his car before getting out then
36:38spent about a minute in some change in
36:40the home by himself before casually
36:43letting officer krod and Nicole in on
36:45the body cam footage he was nonplused
36:47about the entire ordeal sauntering
36:49through the home without a sense of
36:51urgency about the situation there was
36:53quite sincerely no point on that footage
36:55where Chris showed any sign of worry
36:57towards his family which he could have
36:58stated in a way that wouldn't make him
37:00look as guilty he could have easily said
37:02that when he first heard about the
37:04situation he thought shenan had simply
37:06taken the girls for a drive to clear her
37:08head or that he wasn't worried because
37:10shenan was such a reliable person but
37:12instead he fabricates a scenario where
37:14he was immediately on the scene ready
37:16and willing to do whatever it took to
37:18get shanan and his girls back this is
37:20likely how Chris believed he acted in
37:22front of the police he might genuinely
37:24think he was putting on the performance
37:26of a lifetime but he was sortly
37:29mistaken I'm just hoping right now that
37:31she's somewhere
37:33safe and maybe she's just she's there
37:37but right now it's just like if she's
37:40vanished like I want her back so bad I
37:42want those kids back so
37:44bad um you know I wanted to ask you a
37:48little bit about the hard part your
37:49first thought is where are they I want
37:52them back your second thought is you
37:54know your friends were telling us
37:57a little phone you're also your second
38:00thought is that you're afraid people
38:02think you may have done something yeah I
38:04mean nothing no everybody's going to
38:05have their own opinion on on anything
38:07like this I just want them people to
38:09know that I want my family back like I
38:11want them safe and I want them here like
38:14this house is not the same I mean I last
38:17night was traumatic last night
38:19was I I can't really stay in this house
38:21again like with nobody here and last
38:25night I wanted I I wanted that knock on
38:27the door I wanted to see I wanted to see
38:29this kid just run in run in just just
38:31Barrel rush me and just give me a hug
38:32and knock me on the ground but that
38:35didn't happen who are you going to stay
38:37with tonight probably my friends Nick
38:39and Amanda just I mean unless something
38:42develops in the next next hours or so
38:46like I'm hoping that somebody sees
38:48something or somebody knows something
38:51and comes forward what's the hardest
38:54part of all of this for you not knowing
38:56like if they're safe or if they're in
38:59trouble but he does know again so far in
39:01our coverage we haven't gone over what
39:04exactly happened to shenan Bella Cece
39:06and Nico because we want to cover the
39:08case chronologically but it's been 24
39:10hours since he brutally and horrifically
39:12murdered them and he is this calm all of
39:14the nervousness he has shown in the
39:16interviews has been entirely
39:18self-serving he is anxious that he's
39:20going to be caught and arrested for
39:21murder not that his children and wife of
39:238 years are missing like there's a step
39:26is that variable like I'm not sure I I
39:28can't do anything right now from where
39:30I'm at like I'm not sure if they're safe
39:32somewhere just huddle up somewhere or if
39:36they're in trouble and knowing that if
39:38they could be in trouble it it just it's
39:41per shattering right now and it doesn't
39:43feel like it's real let's think about
39:45what he just said for a brief moment the
39:47best case scenario in this situation
39:49looking at all the facts is that somehow
39:51shenan smuggled the girls out of the
39:52home without appearing on the neighbor
39:54security camera and has run away way to
39:56spite Chris she is having some sort of
39:59mental breakdown because he has chosen
40:00to end their marriage so she left the
40:02ring on the bedside table her phone in
40:04the home and she got an anonymous person
40:06to come pick her up secretly that is by
40:09all accounts the best version of events
40:11that could possibly be happening that
40:13would still mean that Bella Celeste Nico
40:15and shenan herself would be in danger
40:18the kind of Behavioral change that would
40:19be required for shenan to do something
40:21like that would be massive and there's a
40:23reason why Nicole was concerned about
40:25her friend she could be wanting to harm
40:27herself and the children and it would be
40:29even more important to get her back as
40:31safely as possible there is no version
40:33of events in this scenario where the
40:35girls are safe and his lack of emotion
40:37and care about that feels completely out
40:39of place it's like he's being
40:40interviewed about the situation as an
40:42outsider like the reporter stopped him
40:44on the street to get an interview and he
40:46doesn't know anything about the
40:47situation the weird part of all this it
40:50sounds like everything is kind of locked
40:51up there's no signs of them leaving the
40:53house no like we have camera there
40:56neighbor has a camera we I mean
40:57everything
40:58was everything's checked
41:01out you have a camera said a doorbell
41:04only only right there The Neighbor House
41:06one over there were all the doors around
41:08the house locked front door was locked
41:11the garage door was unlocked but that
41:14that's normal for like when she comes in
41:17the house she leaves it unlocked just so
41:18she can come in and out just in case you
41:20know did get in the the garage door but
41:22the back sliding door was locked as well
41:24the garage door was not unlocked again
41:27he's lying about things that don't
41:28matter as if they cannot be fact checked
41:30but this lie is purposeful if he tells
41:33the public that the garage door was left
41:34unlocked and that shenan often kept it
41:37unlocked people could theorize that she
41:39had left the home willingly maybe she
41:41left through the garage door and walked
41:42out the back he wants to lay the
41:44groundwork for an alternative version of
41:46events one where the woman he murdered
41:48is at fault for what happened instead of
41:51himself so how would she have left the
41:53house if she did leave the house or
41:55anybody uh I I don't want to put
41:57anything out there like suspecting like
41:59if something like somebody pulled in the
42:00back and because we have driveway back
42:03there from the new town homes
42:05but it's it's so hard to tell Like
42:07There's No cameras in the backyard or
42:09anything like that so it's it's really
42:11hard to even suspect anything right now
42:13as far as how she could have left this
42:15is what Chris has wanted to State the
42:17whole time he's being timid about this
42:19alternative Theory saying it's so
42:21difficult to figure out how they could
42:23have left without being seen even though
42:25he is likely spent the entirety of the
42:27night before and this morning thinking
42:29about this very concept if the camera
42:31captured all activity at the front of
42:33the home he would have to make it seem
42:35like shanan left out the back but how
42:37would she do that if she had locked the
42:38house up from the inside when Chris left
42:40in the morning he had secured the home
42:42up tightly the dead bolt had been
42:44latched on the front door the sliding
42:46glass back door latched from the inside
42:49and could not be locked from the outside
42:51and the garage door which he erroneously
42:53claimed was unlocked was locked as well
42:55the garage door door could also be seen
42:57from the neighbor's camera making it
42:59impossible for shenan and the girls to
43:01have exited from it the only way in and
43:03out of the home without unlocking any of
43:05the doors would be to go in it from the
43:07garage which Chris did when he arrived
43:09home shenan could not have left the home
43:11the way Chris is stating without being
43:13caught on either the ring doorbell
43:14camera or the neighbor's security camera
43:17or if someone came picked her up or
43:18someone took her meanwhile today's
43:20reality you got cops there cops here
43:23cops in your house K9
43:25units I've I've never seen something
43:27like this in my lifetime unless it was
43:29on TV or a movie and this this doesn't
43:32seem real at all it just seems like I'm
43:34I'm living in a nightmare and I can't
43:36get out of it I just want them home so
43:41bad um did you see your kids and your
43:44wife whenever or you had the kids I
43:46forgot when I had the kids over the
43:47weekend did you see your wife when she
43:49got home uh she got home really late
43:51about 2: a.m. from the airport when she
43:53got back from
43:54Arizona did you wake up been saying you
43:56know no I I saw her when she got in but
43:59it was really quick just because it was
44:002:00 a.m. in the morning but I saw the
44:02kids in the monitor before I left
44:05and that was it what what kind of
44:08efforts are happening right now Chris to
44:09find find them right now I'm in Fred
44:12Police Department they've been they've
44:13been on point they've with the officers
44:16detectives sergeants K9 units here
44:19they're getting sense so hopefully they
44:21can pick up something and kind of go in
44:23a direction that actually lead us to
44:27where maybe they're at right
44:29now
44:30and
44:33um shanan went
44:37to where'd you get that shirt oh this is
44:40uh I think she got it off Amazon but
44:42this is my favorite college sports team
44:46she was wasn't she just there she was
44:48yeah just in North Carolina yep so she
44:50probably she actually probably got it
44:51from there usually she get stuff from
44:52Amazon but this one I like these shirts
44:55a lot
44:56Chris has more emotion talking about how
44:58much he likes the shirt that he's
44:59wearing than he does about his own
45:01children I mean come on man you
45:04guys you you love your describe your
45:06little girls to us and you know say
45:09Celeste she's just a ball of energy
45:11she's call her Rampage cuz she's like
45:14she's just always if she's got two
45:16speeds go or she's sleeping and she's
45:18always a troublemaker she's always the
45:20one like jumping off things you know
45:22just yelling at you and all kinds of
45:24things and Bella she's the more calm
45:26cautious mothering type and she's she's
45:31more like me she's more calm she's but
45:34uh Celeste has definitely got her mom's
45:36personality to where she's always just
45:38gungho ready to go have a baby on the
45:41way
45:42mhm you're about to have a third child
45:44mhm is that kind of going through your
45:46mind right now too that's like that's
45:48why I want everybody
45:49back that's why everybody I need
45:52everybody back here I need everybody
45:54safe

46:32like we all have friends in North
46:33Carolina we have friends here we have
46:34friends everywhere and not knowing like
46:37where she is or where the kids are
46:40it's I I'm I don't know what to do right
46:43now I just feel so alone in this house
46:44right now and I don't know I don't know
46:46where to go from here right now and you
46:48said you had to stay here by yourself
46:49last night when I open the door it's
46:50like you're almost like I mean my
46:52heart's my heart's racing a mile a
46:53minute I mean just I everything that's
46:56happening the last last few days it's
46:58just
46:59it's Earth shattering right now it's
47:01like my world's been turned upside down
47:03by his own doing his world has been
47:05turned upside down by his own doing
47:07that's a really important connection I
47:09felt needed to be made continuing
47:12on like I friends have offered to I just
47:15I didn't feel like I should have left
47:16last night like just in case like maybe
47:18she came back maybe the kids came back
47:20maybe something happened maybe there's a
47:21knock on the door I wanted to be here I
47:23didn't think last night was a good time
47:25to stay with anybody else or I mean I'll
47:29I want I want I want friends to be here
47:31with me cuz that just makes me feel
47:33better this is something that Chris has
47:35thought a lot about and it comes up with
47:37each interview he tries to farm pity
47:39from the public by emphasizing that he
47:41had to spend the night on his own in the
47:43home and that he did so because he hoped
47:45his wife and kids would come back but he
47:47knew that couldn't happen so he decided
47:49to stay in the home in order to use that
47:51as a talking point the following day he
47:53decided that staying at the home would
47:55make his story story even more
47:56believable and make shenan who he was
47:58trying to frame as the evil ex-wife who
48:00stole his children look worse the only
48:03issue besides all the evidence being
48:05against him is the fact that he is a
48:07horrendous liar simply saying you are
48:09sad and that this event has been
48:10traumatizing doesn't work if you have
48:12the personality and emotional range as
48:15plank from Ed Ed netti and what how do
48:19you think that police have responded so
48:20far it's have been amazing they've been
48:22in constant contact Frederick Police
48:25Department the detectives officers
48:26sergeants they have the dogs coming
48:29through to get sense I mean it's they've
48:30been on top of everything missing
48:32person's reports everything's been
48:34they've been do you have any idea where
48:36she could go she said she was going to a
48:38friend's house with the kids and that's
48:40the last thing I heard and that was that
48:42was it it was very vague and it was very
48:45I don't have no inclination of where she
48:47is every friend that I've called that
48:48has has a car seat that has I mean that
48:51could have come and got her it's and you
48:54saw her yesterday morning yeah I saw her
48:56yesterday morning she got back from the
48:57airport and I mean she she has to be
49:01somewhere in my heart I believe that she
49:03is somewhere and I hope that she is safe
49:05search dog going in your house right now
49:07to get a scent a line of police cars it
49:12I'm I'm so happy that they're here right
49:13now doing everything that they can it
49:15just it scares the living crap out of me
49:17right now just knowing that it's come to
49:19this and that she didn't come home last
49:21night with the kids like shanan Bell and
49:23Celeste if you're out there please
49:26just come home the fact that she didn't
49:28come home at night with the kids he is
49:30now directly accusing the woman he
49:32killed of taking the children there's no
49:34other way to slice it he was trying to
49:36frame her and you yesterday when her
49:38friends were calling frantic you
49:40something in you said well she'll just
49:41be home yeah I mean I it wasn't like her
49:44not to answer a phone call or a text and
49:46when her friend Nicole showed up at the
49:48door I was just like all right something
49:50something's up and uh I came home and it
49:55was like I walked into a ghost town like
49:57everything she wasn't here kids weren't
50:00here it was like it was just they were
50:01here and then they were gone yeah and
50:04did you see the kids in the morning too
50:05just in the monitor oh yeah yeah and you
50:08leave really early
50:10M when the interviews aired the public
50:12quickly turned against Chris they had
50:14initially viewed him as a victim in the
50:16scenario a loving and attentive father
50:18whose daughter had sung about how he was
50:20her hero some people had even adopted
50:23his line of thinking finding shanann's
50:25life streaming and strong personality
50:27offputting when they heard that Chris
50:29and shenan might have been divorcing
50:30that she might have absconded with the
50:32kids to hurt him but now they feared the
50:34worst his behavior was incredibly
50:36inappropriate and left the majority of
50:38people feeling as if he knew more than
50:39he was saying why was he laughing and
50:41smiling while talking about his missing
50:43children why did he keep shaking his
50:45head when talking about wanting them to
50:47come home and why did he seem to not be
50:49taking the investigation seriously
50:51forums that had talked about shanann's
50:53disappearance exploded with speculation
50:55about what the father of three had done
50:57to his family some users tried to state
50:59that he was likely going through shock
51:01but agreed that his behavior was
51:03suspicious nonetheless the police also
51:05took issue with the interviews noting
51:07several lies that he had said throughout
51:09Chris had lied about returning home
51:11immediately out of worry for his wife
51:13without helping the search in any
51:15impactful way and had given out
51:17alternative theories about what had
51:18occurred even though those theories had
51:21already been ruled out by police they
51:23had told him that they didn't believe
51:24shanan or the girls left on their own
51:26and he had been instructed not to say as
51:28much in interviews but he couldn't help
51:30himself Chris wanted to make himself
51:32look innocent but by lying he only made
51:35himself look worse in the early hours of
51:37the investigation they had also found a
51:39barrage of evidence that pointed to
51:41Chris's potential guilt they had found

51:53shanann's doing but as she was dead she
51:56couldn't have been behind the change
51:57Chris didn't provide a reason to the
51:59school as to why Bella and Celeste would
52:01no longer be enrolled there but it
52:03seemed like more than just a coincidence
52:05that he would decide to end their
52:07education the day they went missing
52:09especially before he knew they had even
52:11gone according to his story then he
52:13spoke to the realtor to discuss selling
52:15the family home the realtor having
52:17spoken to Chris and shenan before
52:19included her in the group chat but was
52:21shocked when she didn't respond
52:23concerned she asked Chris is shenan okay
52:25she hasn't weighed in all day Chris
52:27replied she hasn't been around all day
52:30it's very odd the realtor responded that
52:32is really weird you must be worried have
52:34you checked with her friends or called
52:36and reported her missing even their
52:37realtor who shenan barely knew knew that
52:40her not responding was out of character
52:42for the mother of three to the point of
52:44getting the police involved with a
52:45veritable Treasure Trove of
52:47circumstantial evidence against Chris
52:49the police brought him in for what he
52:51was told was a fairly standard interview
52:53an interview that we will cover in the
52:54next episode of the series
