Fake Google and Facebook Reviews for Beverly Hills Med Spa — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Welcome to Fake Review Watch. I'm Ka
- 0:02Dean. Lots of people are using medical
- 0:05spas these days. But if you're one of
- 0:08the beautiful people in Beverly Hills,
- 0:10you might want to watch this video
- 0:12before you select LA Ageless Medical
- 0:15Aesthetics for that Botox
- 0:18injection. According to its website, LA
- 0:21Ageless is located on South Beverly
- 0:23Drive in Beverly Hills, California.
- 0:26Interestingly, I couldn't find any
- 0:29business named LA Ageless Medical
- 0:32Aesthetics, nor a variation of that name
- 0:34when I searched the California Secretary
- 0:36of State
- 0:37site. I also searched for a fictitious
- 0:40name permit for variations of LA Ageless
- 0:44with the Medical Board of California,
- 0:46but couldn't find any
- 0:48results. The only doctor listed on the
- 0:51LA Ageless website is Dr. Heidi Reganis.
- 0:56Dr. Reginness does have a current
- 0:58license with the medical board, but her
- 1:00address of record is 1501 Westcliffe
- 1:03Drive, number 303, way down in Newport
- 1:06Beach, 50 miles
- 1:09away. That's the address of Restore Med
- 1:12Clinic. And I found Dr. Reganus
- 1:14discussed on their website as well.
- 1:17So, I wasn't able to confirm that LA
- 1:20Ageless Medical Aesthetics is properly
- 1:22licensed, nor could I determine its
- 1:24exact relationship with Dr. Egganus.
- 1:27What I can confirm is that LA Ageless
- 1:30has lots of fake Facebook and Google
- 1:33reviews. Let's start with Facebook.
- 1:36As you can see at the bottom, LA Ageless
- 1:39had 101 Facebook reviews with a 100%
- 1:43recommendation rate as of April 28th,
- 1:472025. When I read these reviews, a few
- 1:50things caught my attention. First, nurse
- 1:53Jess is often praised, but I couldn't
- 1:56find any discussion of Dr. Reganus. That
- 2:00was strange. Also, the Facebook page has
- 2:03existed for more than two years, but all
- 2:05reviews except one were posted in
- 2:08January and March
- 2:102025. Curiously, as well, some of these
- 2:13only recent reviewers say they've been
- 2:16seeing nurse Jess for six, seven, or
- 2:19even 10 years. Let's look at something
- 2:21else I find
- 2:23suspicious.
- 2:25Here are the six most recent Facebook
- 2:28reviews for LA Ageless Medical
- 2:31Aesthetics. Look at the times these
- 2:33reviews were posted. All on the evening
- 2:35of March 25th. The one at the top was
- 2:38posted at 11:33 p.m. Before that, one
- 2:41was posted at 11:31 p.m. Before that,
- 2:44the reviews were posted at 11:29,
- 2:4711:27, 11:26, and
- 2:5011:23. Six reviews in 10 minutes.
- 2:55Then look at this. Seven Facebook
- 2:57reviews for LA Ageless, all posted on
- 3:00March 24th during a 17-minute period in
- 3:03the middle of the
- 3:05night. Here are three reviews posted in
- 3:084 minutes on the evening of January
- 3:1013th. And three reviews posted within
- 3:14three minutes back on January 6th. As a
- 3:16matter of fact, all 100 positive
- 3:19Facebook reviews for LA Ageless posted
- 3:22in January and March came in similar
- 3:24batches. I'll show you some
- 3:27data. If we look at January, beginning
- 3:30on the left, you see that three reviews
- 3:33were posted in 3 minutes in the we hours
- 3:35of January 6th. Then three more were
- 3:39posted in 3 minutes later in the
- 3:41morning.
- 3:42No reviews were posted over 36 hours
- 3:45until three were posted in 6 minutes in
- 3:48the early hours of January
- 3:508th. As we scroll across, you see that
- 3:53this pattern continues many hours or
- 3:56even days with no reviews, followed by a
- 3:59spurt of multiple reviews within a short
- 4:03time. Near the end of the month, we go
- 4:06over 4 days with no reviews. Then around
- 4:094:45 a.m. on January 29th, five roll in
- 4:13in six minutes. This pattern is not
- 4:17organic, and it's more likely evidence
- 4:19of a review seller periodically posting
- 4:22batches of fake reviews for LA
- 4:27Ageless. But there's even more
- 4:29compelling evidence that these Facebook
- 4:31reviews for LA Ageless Medical
- 4:33Aesthetics are fake. Let's look at
- 4:36another
- 4:37spreadsheet. Across the top of this
- 4:39spreadsheet are 99 of the 101 people on
- 4:43Facebook who have reviewed LA Ageless
- 4:45Medical
- 4:49Aesthetics. Down the left side are other
- 4:52businesses who have also been reviewed
- 4:54by these
- 4:56people. Note the truly unbelievable
- 4:59overlapping review patterns here.
- 5:02To start, 54 of these purported 99
- 5:05patients of LA Ageless in Beverly Hills
- 5:09all reviewed the same Nissan dealer in
- 5:12Missouri. 40 of these patients reviewed
- 5:15the same roofer in New Jersey.
- 5:18Absurd. Then note this. The first 21
- 5:21people
- 5:23here have all reviewed LA
- 5:27Ageless, that Missouri Nissan dealer,
- 5:30the same California garage door
- 5:32repairer, the same cleaning service in
- 5:34Phoenix, the same California realtor,
- 5:37and the same property management
- 5:39company. I could go on for an hour
- 5:42pointing out the unbelievable review
- 5:44patterns here, but let's look at a few
- 5:47of these reviewers instead. We'll start
- 5:49with Adam Matthews who's reviewed nine
- 5:52businesses on our
- 5:55spreadsheet. Here's Adam Matthews review
- 5:58of LA Ageless from March 23rd, 2025. He
- 6:01praises nurse Jess and says her
- 6:04techniques are so good that he looks
- 6:06like flawless skinned royalty and has
- 6:08ditched concealer for the first time
- 6:10since college. Yeah. Um, this is Adam
- 6:15Matthews Facebook photo.
- 6:19What's more, that isn't any Adam
- 6:22Matthews at all. That photo is of a
- 6:25Kentucky man who died in
- 6:282022. I suspect a lot of these Facebook
- 6:31profiles who've reviewed LA Ageless are
- 6:34not real people at all. Dylan Burke says
- 6:38nurse Jess has his lips looking
- 6:40naturally
- 6:41luscious. But I don't think that's any
- 6:44Dylan Burke. His photo can be found on
- 6:48Shuttertock. Lots of men seem to be
- 6:51praising Nurse Jess. Prince Freddy says
- 6:54she's judgmentf
- 6:56free. I don't think that's any Prince
- 6:59Freddy. It's just another scammy
- 7:01Facebook profile using a stock photo.
- 7:04Let's go back to our spreadsheet.
- 7:07When review patterns like these are so
- 7:10thoroughly unbelievable and involve what
- 7:12appear to be phony profiles, you'd think
- 7:15Facebook might be roused to clean up the
- 7:17fraud on its platform. But as I've seen
- 7:19in the past, Facebook seems unconcerned
- 7:22with any of this. Moreover, Facebook
- 7:26isn't the only problem.
- 7:31This is the same spreadsheet, but now
- 7:34I've added red X's in the first row. A
- 7:38red X next to a black one indicates that
- 7:41the same review on Facebook showed up on
- 7:44Google under a totally different
- 7:47name. In all, I found 48 of these 99
- 7:51Facebook reviews for LA Ageless Medical
- 7:53Aesthetics on Google as well. I'll show
- 7:56you what I mean. And we'll start with
- 7:59Julie Smith, who has reviewed nine
- 8:02businesses on our Facebook
- 8:06spreadsheet. Here's Smith's Facebook
- 8:09review from January for LA Ageless. She
- 8:12says, "One day, I woke up and felt so
- 8:14ugly. I knew I couldn't go out anymore.
- 8:16My daughter recommended I go see her
- 8:18injector. Once again, it was nurse Jess
- 8:21to the rescue. Note that LA Ageless
- 8:23thanked Julie for her review.
- 8:26First, seems to me Smith looks awfully
- 8:29young to have a daughter already getting
- 8:31injections. And second, she uses a photo
- 8:35of social media influencer Lilith
- 8:38Cavalier for her Facebook profile photo.
- 8:41But aside from all that, notice this.
- 8:44That same review about waking up ugly
- 8:47and taking her daughter's injection
- 8:50recommendation showed up on Google as
- 8:52well around the same time. It wasn't
- 8:55posted by Julie Smith or even Lilith
- 8:58Cavalier. However, Noah Augustine posted
- 9:01it and was again thanked by LA
- 9:05Ageless. Remember old Adam Matthews
- 9:08whose Facebook profile photo was
- 9:10actually lifted from an
- 9:12obituary? Above is his Facebook review
- 9:15for LA Ageless from March that we saw
- 9:18earlier. Below is a Google review from
- 9:21April for LA Ageless by Hancock Reed.
- 9:25The reviews are exactly the
- 9:27same. Then there's Facebook profile J
- 9:30Rose who has reviewed seven businesses
- 9:33on our spreadsheet. Before we look at
- 9:35her review, let me show you why I'm not
- 9:38so sure that young lady is named J Rose.
- 9:41First, I found that photo called
- 9:43Portrait of a Young Woman on Pixels.
- 9:46Then I found eight other Facebook
- 9:48profiles with entirely different names,
- 9:51all using that same
- 9:53photo. On LinkedIn, Emma Reed from
- 9:56Nashville says that's her photo. But
- 10:00over on X, Amy Evans says that's her
- 10:03picture. All of this shows you how
- 10:05little you can trust any of these social
- 10:08media platforms. Anyway, let's pretend
- 10:11this is J Rose and get back to her
- 10:14Facebook review of LA
- 10:16Ageless. On March 21st, she said, "My
- 10:19dermatologist referred me to Nurse Jess,
- 10:22which speaks volumes about her
- 10:24reputation. She goes on extolling nurse
- 10:26Jess's
- 10:28expertise. But that same review, word
- 10:31for word, showed up on Google in May,
- 10:35posted there by Derek Hernandez. I'll
- 10:38show you one more
- 10:39example. Martin Webstar is another
- 10:42sketchy Facebook reviewer of LA Ageless
- 10:45from our spreadsheet. Why do I think
- 10:48he's sketchy? First, he uses the photo
- 10:51of German influencer Nils Cusel for his
- 10:54Facebook profile
- 10:56photo. Back on Webar's Facebook page,
- 11:00notice that he has 22 friends.
- 11:03When I looked at those 22 friends,
- 11:06however, I noted that 16 of them were
- 11:09from
- 11:10Bangladesh. All those highlighted
- 11:13here and here are from Bangladesh. Now,
- 11:16it's possible Webar just loves
- 11:19Bangladeshies. But it's more likely that
- 11:22his profile is the creation of a
- 11:24Bangladeshi review
- 11:26seller. Let's look at Webstar's review
- 11:29of LA from January. Given the photo he
- 11:32uses, I have to chuckle at the text. I
- 11:36thought I needed a facelift because of
- 11:37my jowls and deep lines. Fortunately for
- 11:41him, LA Ageless took care of everything.
- 11:44That same review about the jowls and
- 11:47deep lines has been posted on Google
- 11:50both by Glenn Williamson and Anitra
- 11:53Porter. Note that LA Ageless thanked
- 11:56them both for their reviews.
- 11:59To recap, we've got sketchy Facebook
- 12:02profiles, many of whom are Facebook
- 12:04friends with each other, by the way, not
- 12:07credible Facebook review patterns and
- 12:11suspicious timing of Facebook reviews
- 12:13for LA Ageless. But if I don't trust
- 12:16these Facebook reviews, I certainly
- 12:19don't trust the LA Ageless Google
- 12:22reviews either, which are carbon copies
- 12:24of these Facebook reviews. Let's turn to
- 12:28Google. As of May 17th, LA Ageless
- 12:32Medical Aesthetics had 121 Google
- 12:35reviews and a perfect five-star rating.
- 12:38Nearly 50 of these reviews are also on
- 12:40Facebook under completely different
- 12:42names. But there's another reason to
- 12:44question many of these reviews.
- 12:48Glenn Williamson, Joe Fountain, Maline
- 12:51Peron, and Connor Brown all posted
- 12:54five-star Google reviews for LA Ageless
- 12:57from 3 to 6 months ago. Nothing unusual
- 13:00so
- 13:01far, but all four have also posted
- 13:05five-star Google reviews for Westchester
- 13:08Handwash in Los Angeles.
- 13:11And all four have posted five-star
- 13:14Google reviews for Home 365 property
- 13:17management, three for the Las Vegas
- 13:19office and one for the Atlanta
- 13:22office. And all four have posted
- 13:26five-star Google reviews for Flex Auto
- 13:29Transport in Austin, Texas. Sorry, but I
- 13:33don't find this believable. Google,
- 13:35let's look at another spreadsheet.
- 13:38Across the top of this spreadsheet are
- 13:4176 Google profiles who have reviewed LA
- 13:44Ageless Medical
- 13:48Aesthetics. On the left side are
- 13:51businesses that have been reviewed by
- 13:52these same
- 13:54profiles. Remember Westchester
- 13:57Handwash? Note that a whopping 61 of
- 14:00these purported 76 patients of LA
- 14:03Ageless all like that same car wash 10
- 14:06miles away across the
- 14:09city. 20 supposed LA Ageless patients
- 14:12are happy clients of Home 365 according
- 14:16to these Google
- 14:17reviews and 13 like Flicks Auto
- 14:20Transport in Texas. I find none of this
- 14:24believable.
- 14:27So, there you go. Fake reviews for a med
- 14:29spa on both Facebook and Google. How is
- 14:33it that I can find this fraud before
- 14:35these tech titans can? Evidently,
- 14:38they're not really serious about
- 14:40cleaning up the fraud all over their
- 14:42polluted platforms. And remember, folks,
- 14:45these companies profit whether reviews
- 14:47are real or fake. And that's why you
- 14:50shouldn't be trusting their reviews,
- 14:52even for medical practices.
