3. 0:04Thompson and I'm here today because I
4. 0:06have something very
5. 0:09important to tell you my fans my friends
6. 0:14and my
7. 0:16family over the many years of my life as
8. 0:19an athlete in the sport of track and
9. 0:22field you have been fiercely loyal and
10. 0:25supportive towards
11. 0:28me even more more loyal and supportive
12. 0:31than words can
13. 0:33declare has been my family and
14. 0:36especially my dear mother who stands by
15. 0:39my side
16. 0:48today and so it is with a great amount
17. 0:50of
18. 0:52shame that I stand before you and tell
19. 0:55you that I have betrayed your trust
20. 1:02I want all of you to know that today I
21. 1:05pled guilty two
22. 1:08counts of making false statements to
23. 1:11federal
24. 1:12agents making these false statements to
25. 1:15federal agents was an incredibly stupid
26. 1:18thing for me to do and I am responsible
27. 1:21fully for my
28. 1:23actions I have no one to blame but
29. 1:26myself for what I have
30. 1:28done to you my
31. 1:32fans including my young
32. 1:34supporters the United States track and
33. 1:38field
34. 1:39Association my closest
35. 1:42friends my
36. 1:44attorneys and the most classy
37. 1:47family a person could ever hope for
38. 1:51namely my mother my
39. 1:54husband my
40. 1:58children my brother and his family my
41. 2:02uncle and the rest of my extended family
42. 2:06I want you to know that I have been
43. 2:11dishonest and you have the right to be
44. 2:13angry with
45. 2:20me I have let them down I have let my
46. 2:24country down and I have let myself down
47. 2:35I recognize that by saying that I'm
48. 2:37deeply
49. 2:39sorry it might not be
50. 2:42enough and sufficient to address the
51. 2:45pain and the hurt that I've caused
52. 2:48you therefore I want to ask for your
53. 2:52forgiveness for my
54. 2:54actions and I hope you can find it in
55. 2:56your heart to forgive me
56. 3:03I have asked almighty God for my
57. 3:07forgiveness having said
58. 3:13this and because of my actions I
59. 3:17retiring from the sport of track and
60. 3:19field a sport which I deeply
61. 3:27love I promise
62. 3:30that these
63. 3:36events will be
64. 3:40used to make the
65. 3:42lives of many people
66. 3:48improve that by making the wrong choices
67. 3:51and bad
68. 3:53decisions can be
69. 3:56disastrous I want to thank you all for
