Everything you need to know about Etsy product creation (no BS guide) — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00So, most Etsy product creation videos
- 0:02give you the exact [music] same useless
- 0:04advice. They say, "Use this AI tool,
- 0:07generate 100 designs, and then just
- 0:09watch the sales roll in." And this
- 0:13really bothers me because none of the
- 0:15advice out there actually solves the
- 0:17real issue. Because, you know, the real
- 0:20problem you have is not creating
- 0:22products on Etsy, right? You probably
- 0:24know full well how to create products on
- 0:26Etsy. The problem is that nobody is
- 0:29clicking on your product in the first
- 0:31place. So, they don't even get the
- 0:33chance to see your product. And so, here
- 0:36lies the issue. You shouldn't be just
- 0:38creating products. You should also be
- 0:41creating clicks. And so, in this video,
- 0:44I'm going to run through a full training
- 0:46course for you, okay? It's a pretty long
- 0:48one. It's going to be super in-depth.
- 0:50And I'm just going to show you my exact
- 0:52end to end [music] product creation
- 0:54system, which I personally use every
- 0:56single day on all of my Etsy shops to
- 0:59get the sort of results that I'm
- 1:01currently getting. And so, by the end of
- 1:03today's training, you're going to have a
- 1:05repeatable production loop that you can
- 1:07run on any niche, for any product type,
- 1:10on any Etsy shop that you own. Whether
- 1:13you've made zero products at all or
- 1:16you've got a catalog there of 200 plus
- 1:18products already that just are not
- 1:20getting you views, aren't getting you
- 1:22clicks, and are not making you sales.
- 1:24This training today is going to fix
- 1:26everything that is currently broken. And
- 1:29so, let's start with some of the core
- 1:30issues, right? Number one, you're not
- 1:32getting enough clicks. Number two, the
- 1:35few clicks that you do get are not
- 1:37converting on your products at all. And
- 1:39then number three, product creation for
- 1:41you is probably at the minute still
- 1:44taking longer than what you would want.
- 1:45So in this training, like I said, I'm
- 1:47going to solve absolutely [music]
- 1:49everything for you. Get yourself a
- 1:51strong coffee. Listen along because this
- 1:53is going to be a full training course
- 1:56completely for free for you guys.
- 1:57[music] So first of all though, why the
- 2:00hell are you about to commit to almost
- 2:02an hour of listening to me talk about
- 2:04Etsy? So, number one, I started selling
- 2:07on Etsy all the way back in 2021. And
- 2:09I've actually included videos here so
- 2:12that you can see, you know, this is not
- 2:13just a screen grab. This is one month of
- 2:16my revenue here. 27,000 Great British
- 2:18pounds all the way from back in 2021
- 2:20when I first started on my first shop.
- 2:22And then right to this day, you see
- 2:24here, this is um this is the Q4 just
- 2:27gone. 15,000 Great British pounds in a
- 2:30single month. Of course, the real value
- 2:32is a bit higher than this as well
- 2:34because this graph, as [music] we all
- 2:35know, doesn't include postage. I've done
- 2:38well over quarter of a million dollars
- 2:40on Etsy through my multiple different
- 2:42shops. This [music] is just two of them.
- 2:44I've done four complete total shops.
- 2:46Now, um probably to be honest, full-time
- 2:49revenue much closer to around about $400
- 2:52$450,000 [music]
- 2:54over the last few years through these
- 2:56multiple shops. Not just that, of
- 2:58course, I've also helped tons of clients
- 3:01out there make five figure months and
- 3:04have six figure businesses. Emma
- 3:06literally just sent me this text the
- 3:07other day. Her business has just crossed
- 3:09101,000 great British pounds. As Emma,
- 3:14we've we've worked closely now. And also
- 3:16Sharta as well, you know, um I'm sure
- 3:18you've probably seen the interview I've
- 3:19done with Sharta on my channel. We also
- 3:21got Shada from just $25 on Etsy all the
- 3:24way up to $19,000 Canadian dollars in a
- 3:27[music] single month. I would encourage
- 3:29you if there's any doubts, go [music]
- 3:32back, check the work on my channel,
- 3:34check the interviews I've done with
- 3:35people, check the client results. You
- 3:37know, it's not just a system that works
- 3:39for me. This product creation system I'm
- 3:41about to show you works [music]
- 3:43for other people as well, applying the
- 3:45exact same system. So, let's get into it
- 3:48then, shall we? Now, I first want to
- 3:51start with the real reason why your
- 3:54products are not selling on Etsy
- 3:56currently. Okay? [music] And some of the
- 3:59reasons are going to be number one, you
- 4:00haven't done your research well enough.
- 4:02So, the products you are creating, there
- 4:04isn't any demand for them. Reason number
- 4:06two, you've probably got low
- 4:08click-through rates. So, CTR, this is
- 4:11directly linked to poor presentation.
- 4:14Number three, there's poor positioning
- 4:16and targeting of the product. Again,
- 4:18this is going to link back to the
- 4:20research as well. So, again, we're going
- 4:23to go over this in in much more detail,
- 4:24but every single product you make, there
- 4:27needs to be somebody on the other end of
- 4:28the screen who is searching for it and
- 4:31willing to exchange money for it. And
- 4:32it's one of the biggest things I see
- 4:34that so many sellers get wrong is that
- 4:36they just make products that look nice,
- 4:38but there's no targeting and their
- 4:40position on the market is non-existent.
- 4:43You go a bit deeper then. So, lowquality
- 4:45designs or just a lowquality product in
- 4:47general, of course, that's going to be
- 4:50an issue. Major lack of social proof as
- 4:52well. [music] So, this is one that does
- 4:55take a bit of time to build up. There's
- 4:57some things I'll show you to kind of get
- 4:58around this, but this will not be a
- 5:01major reason why somebody doesn't buy,
- 5:04but it certainly [music] helps to get
- 5:06some at the start. But again, we'll talk
- 5:08about how to get around this and through
- 5:11with through your listing. If the
- 5:12customer is left unsure of your product
- 5:14or they have any questions at all, that
- 5:17again is going to be another quite big
- 5:20reason why your current product offering
- 5:23isn't [music] going to be selling. So
- 5:25these are some reasons, right? But there
- 5:27is one overwhelming issue. [music]
- 5:30You spend hours and hours making designs
- 5:31for your products. We all do. You go
- 5:35super in depth thinking that you've got
- 5:36the best niche for the best audience.
- 5:40List the product. And then I know this
- 5:42feeling. You go on your Etsy store every
- 5:43single day. You're going on the
- 5:45statistics on the data. You're
- 5:46refreshing the page [music] and you're
- 5:49still just not seeing any movement
- 5:51there. You know, your traffic's not
- 5:53going up. You might get a [music] few
- 5:54clicks, but not many. And you're not
- 5:57getting any decent level of sales that
- 6:00[music] would give you confidence that
- 6:02this could become a full-time business
- 6:03model one day. So, this is something
- 6:05that I see so much. So, if that is you,
- 6:09then I promise you, you are definitely
- 6:11not alone. The harsh reality to this
- 6:14equation is that nobody's clicking on
- 6:16your product in the first place. I've
- 6:18said this right from some of my older
- 6:19videos, okay? If nobody clicks on your
- 6:23product, they will never even get
- 6:25[music] the chance to see it. Okay? So,
- 6:27it doesn't matter what you do. If you
- 6:29don't earn that first click, the time is
- 6:31wasted. So, if it doesn't stand out, it
- 6:34cannot compete against the competition.
- 6:36And if you do not win the first click,
- 6:39your hard work on your product does not
- 6:42even matter at all. It really doesn't
- 6:44matter at all. So now I want to show you
- 6:47this graphic here that's going to
- 6:49perfectly illustrate the point. And I've
- 6:50used one of my own listings here as
- 6:53proof for you. So listing one, listing
- 6:55two, listing three, listing four,
- 6:57listing one is my uh listing two is
- 6:59mine. Sorry, not listing one. Definitely
- 7:00list two. The one with the bestseller
- 7:02badge on it. Now, first [music] thing,
- 7:04guys, I just want you to take a minute
- 7:06and look at these four. They're all
- 7:09pretty similar listings, right? The same
- 7:11targeting, the same niche, very similar
- 7:14design.
- 7:16However, when you scroll down, you can
- 7:19see this one B listing has made me
- 7:22almost 4,000 Great British pounds.
- 7:24That's probably getting close to $5,000
- 7:28in one single listing. And you see, this
- 7:30is live up to date stats, by the way.
- 7:32last 30 days, 402 visits and 23
- 7:35favorites alone without one listing and
- 7:38my store is full of them. Now, looking
- 7:40at these numbers here, so from listing 1
- 7:422 3 4, I need to show you this to
- 7:45illustrate the point of just how
- 7:46important presentation is. Okay, what
- 7:49I've done is I've marked each of these
- 7:51listings out of 10. And now this is my
- 7:54own scoring. So feel free to pause the
- 7:57video and give it your own scoring if
- 7:58you want. So, the design itself, okay,
- 8:01the B and the [music] custom text,
- 8:03they've all got to be in the custom
- 8:04text, right? I've given mine a seven.
- 8:06I've given number four a seven because I
- 8:08think it's quite a cute image. [music]
- 8:10And number one and number three, I've
- 8:12just both given a six. But in general,
- 8:14there's no 10 out of 10 designs here.
- 8:15I'd be the first person to say that this
- 8:17design on my mug, that's not a 10 out of
- 8:2010 creativity design. You know, I've
- 8:21just made the image using um using AI
- 8:24and I've just added a custom name in it.
- 8:27That's not the most incredible design in
- 8:29the world. Presentation score out of 10.
- 8:31However, number one, [music] too dark,
- 8:34you know, um, infographic in the initial
- 8:38image. Again, infographic in the initial
- 8:40thumbnail image here, which I don't
- 8:42always [music] recommend, but again, you
- 8:44see the lighting is just wrong. The
- 8:46angle of the mug just [music] doesn't
- 8:47look wrong as well, or it it just looks
- 8:50wrong as well. So, yeah, I've marked
- 8:52that only a four. My one, I've given it
- 8:54a nine because, you know what? I know it
- 8:56works. It's [music] bright. It's
- 8:58colorful. This is the crop of how it
- 9:01shows up on Etsy, by the way, [music] in
- 9:03that portrait crop. The mug fits
- 9:06perfectly. The design is front and
- 9:08center. And you'll also notice one key
- 9:10thing here. It looks the biggest out of
- 9:11all of these. So, if you squint your
- 9:13eyes a little bit and you look at the
- 9:15screen, this is a test I always like to
- 9:17do. Which design and which listing pops
- 9:20out to you the most? Number two, I know
- 9:22that it's my one because like I said,
- 9:24I've spent hours and hours and hours,
- 9:25days and months doing the research to
- 9:28find the logic behind this. Again,
- 9:29[music] listings three and four,
- 9:30presentation,
- 9:32this is too far away. The mug is way too
- 9:34small. And [music] again, the actual
- 9:37colors of the mug is too dark. Number
- 9:40four, again, the angling is slightly
- 9:43off. So again, number four is a very
- 9:46similar angle to number one. It's just
- 9:48slightly [music] off. It's too tilted.
- 9:49Okay, these little details like I'm
- 9:52going to explain throughout the rest of
- 9:53this video, [music]
- 9:54they make a massive difference. Like
- 9:56honestly guys, such a huge difference
- 9:59and that's why you got to pay attention.
- 10:01If you want to make money on Etsy, pay
- 10:03attention. So this is just a little
- 10:05illustration here, right? And I've
- 10:06looked at these and I've got the sales
- 10:07data from Everbe
- 10:09sales [music] percentage
- 10:11of the market. Okay, so my listing
- 10:14listing [music] number two and again the
- 10:16design work is pretty much the same for
- 10:18all of these. The only thing that's
- 10:20different really is the presentation my
- 10:23product to make up a minimum of 90% of
- 10:25the sales for the market from these
- 10:27four. Absolute minimum in reality when I
- 10:30looked at the ever stats it is actually
- 10:32higher from the calculations I did but
- 10:35you know we'll we'll round it up to 90.
- 10:38The other products have made like two or
- 10:40three sales.
- 10:43They there's hardly any sales for these.
- 10:45But like I said, look at the stats for
- 10:48my one and look at the visits in just
- 10:50the last 30 days. We know the B niche
- 10:52works. We know the personalized animal
- 10:55um design structure works because
- 10:57there's proof of it right here.
- 11:00The design isn't that much better than
- 11:01the competition. The literally the only
- 11:04difference is the presentation. [music]
- 11:08So I really hope that that illustrates
- 11:12the point clearly. First of all, and
- 11:13this is what I always say, right?
- 11:16You got to understand these things that
- 11:18I just shown you there. And you got to
- 11:20understand what Etsy [music] is. Etsy is
- 11:23a searched based algorithmic. It's an
- 11:26algorithmic searchbased marketplace.
- 11:29Okay? So, your product has first not
- 11:31only got to show up, but it's got
- 11:33[music] to get the click versus the
- 11:35competition. I can't stress this [music]
- 11:37enough. You know, when you scroll on
- 11:39Instagram and you see a product come up,
- 11:40you're just seeing that product. It's
- 11:42not next to five other products that you
- 11:44are directly competing against. Etsy is
- 11:46great for us because if we do things
- 11:48right and we present our product the
- 11:50best, it's free marketing for us. You
- 11:52know, we don't pay for customers to come
- 11:54on to Etsy. They're already on Etsy.
- 11:55[music] So, that's where it's a major
- 11:57win for us. Whereas if you we were
- 11:59using, you know, Meta Ads, Instagram
- 12:01[music] marketing, Tik Tok, whatever, we
- 12:04would have to pay to get the traffic to
- 12:05come into us. [music] Whereas on Etsy,
- 12:08it's there. We just got to learn how to
- 12:10play the game. So that's exactly what
- 12:12we're going to do in today's video. This
- 12:14is the process, guys, right in front of
- 12:16you. This is the holy grail product
- 12:20creation workflow. Okay? You start with
- 12:24product research to find what actual
- 12:26product you want to sell. You know, are
- 12:28you going to start off with mugs, phone
- 12:30cases, whatever. You then qualify the
- 12:34product. So, okay, is there enough
- 12:35profit margin there? Can I produce the
- 12:37product uh at a quick enough time scale
- 12:40and to a high quality? Is there enough
- 12:41demand for the product, etc.? This is
- 12:44where we qualify the product. And what
- 12:45I'm going to do later on in the training
- 12:47as well is I'm going to show you exactly
- 12:49how I work with my clients. [music]
- 12:51I'm just going to go full in and just
- 12:52show you behind the scenes of it for
- 12:54exactly how we do all of these stages.
- 12:56[music] Then you move into shop
- 12:57research. So this is once you've
- 12:59qualified a product, let's say mugs,
- 13:00[music]
- 13:01you then look at the top performing
- 13:03shops that are selling that product.
- 13:06[music] You then break out the data from
- 13:07those shops to see which niches, which
- 13:12niches, sorry, and which target
- 13:13audiences [music] and what marketing
- 13:16angles are performing best for those
- 13:18shops and for the products that they're
- 13:20selling.
- 13:21From that, again, you continue doing
- 13:24research and looking at how those
- 13:25listings are laid out to then produce
- 13:27your own listing template. Okay? And
- 13:30again, I'm going every single one of
- 13:32these steps, by the way, we're covering
- 13:34in this video, one by one. Once you've
- 13:36got your listing template set out, it's
- 13:39then a case of just creating your
- 13:41designs and inserting them into the
- 13:43template each time. Once you've then got
- 13:46the products live, it's a data gathering
- 13:49activity. So you then see what's
- 13:50working, see what isn't working,
- 13:51interpret the data correctly, see what
- 13:53you need to fix, see what you can take
- 13:55from one list in to put into the next to
- 13:57improve it. Data gathering is very
- 13:59important.
- 14:01You then start to look back at your
- 14:03listing templates and see what you can
- 14:04do to improve based on the data and then
- 14:08you can start refining your designs
- 14:10[music] as well. So this is the game of
- 14:13Etsy. We just need to learn how to do
- 14:15each of these steps to the best of our
- 14:17ability to play the game and play the
- 14:19odds of the game in our favor. So with
- 14:23that, one thing I said at the start,
- 14:26you're not just creating products on
- 14:28Etsy, okay? There's levels to this game,
- 14:31right? There is just creating something
- 14:33because we think it looks good and just
- 14:35throwing it out there online and [music]
- 14:37hoping it gets sales. And then there is
- 14:39methodically
- 14:40researching [music] and creating a
- 14:43proper Etsy listing that is going to
- 14:46rank that is going to get [music]
- 14:48clicked ahead of the competition that's
- 14:50going to convert and is going to remain
- 14:53online as a top [music] selling product
- 14:54for years to come into the future. So
- 14:57honestly guys, I I can't hammer home
- 14:59this point hard enough, right? I really
- 15:01want you listening to this video right
- 15:03now to make a conscious shift in your
- 15:05thinking. [music]
- 15:07Not just towards creating a product, but
- 15:11towards [music]
- 15:12marketing that product the best you
- 15:14possibly can and making a conscious
- 15:16fault towards getting and winning that
- 15:19click. This is one of the best pieces of
- 15:22advice that I could possibly give you.
- 15:24Honestly, I put so much of my personal
- 15:26success and my success with clients down
- 15:29to this one thing. Let's say that
- 15:31there's a real [music] life shop selling
- 15:33a real life product. Okay? In real life,
- 15:36because you can see the product, an
- 15:39average product will make very low sales
- 15:42because you see the product, you're
- 15:44holding it. Look, say this water bottle
- 15:45for example, I'm holding it in my hands.
- 15:47I can see the product. You know, if I'm
- 15:49at a retail shop in real life, if this
- 15:51is crap quality, I'm not going to buy it
- 15:54because I can see that it's rubbish
- 15:55quality. However, I bought that one
- 15:58because it's a great water bottle and I
- 15:59know that it's a great water water
- 16:01bottle and I saw it in real life. So, I
- 16:03I knew, you know, it felt sturdy, it
- 16:05felt strong. I like the colors on it.
- 16:07You know, I could actually hold it in my
- 16:09hands. [music] So, I knew it was a great
- 16:11product. So, that's why this water
- 16:12bottle right there that's a great
- 16:14product has got high sales because I
- 16:16[music] can see it and feel it in real
- 16:19life. Selling online, this is why you
- 16:21got to play the game and you got to know
- 16:22the game. Selling online is totally
- 16:24[music] different. Like it's completely
- 16:26different. You do not have the product
- 16:30to feel to touch, right? All you have to
- 16:33go off is the presentation. When we buy
- 16:37something online, all we have to go off
- 16:41is pictures and videos and written
- 16:43information about a product. That's it.
- 16:45So, an average product that's got great
- 16:47presentation
- 16:49will make incredibly high sales. If
- 16:51you've got the best presentation on Etsy
- 16:54for your product and for for your niche,
- 16:57you will make sales because you will get
- 17:00more clicks than everything else around
- 17:01it. However, you could have the best
- 17:03product in the world. So, you could
- 17:04really have a great product, but if
- 17:05you're presenting it worse than the
- 17:07competition, then nobody's going to
- 17:09click on it. And it doesn't matter how
- 17:11good the product is, you will get low
- 17:13sales. Use yourself as the best example
- 17:16now, right? Think about your shopping
- 17:18behavior when you go online. Every
- 17:21single thing that you buy, you only ever
- 17:23end up buying it because you clicked on
- 17:25it in the first place. And why did you
- 17:27click on it? Because it looked good and
- 17:30you wanted to click on it. Honestly, if
- 17:33you're only going to take one thing from
- 17:34this video and turn it off now, then
- 17:37take that and run to the bank of it
- 17:38because it's so important. Now, I'll
- 17:41show you these two examples here. Right?
- 17:42This is the exact [music] same product.
- 17:45This is a mug. Okay? This is a pottery
- 17:48handmade mug. It's the exact same
- 17:50product. Say that I made an Etsy listing
- 17:52and this was the image I used [music] or
- 17:54I made an Etsy listing and this was the
- 17:56image I used. Now, I know that this is
- 17:58an extreme example and nobody's going to
- 18:00list an image looking like this, right?
- 18:02But this should hammer home the point.
- 18:04Which one of these two are you going to
- 18:05click on [music] even though it's the
- 18:07exact same product? Well, Alfie,
- 18:09obviously I'm going to click on the one
- 18:11on the left. Yeah, [music] right you
- 18:13are. Of course you are. You know why?
- 18:15Because it always looks better. And now
- 18:18this isn't just print on demand, okay?
- 18:21This isn't just physical products. Exact
- 18:23same with digital. Which one of these
- 18:25two are you going to click on? 3 2 1.
- 18:29Obviously, it's going to be this one.
- 18:31The one on the right. The one that's
- 18:32presented clean. The one that doesn't
- 18:34have any clutter in the background. The
- 18:36one that's got nice bright [music]
- 18:38colors. Centralized product. Like I said
- 18:40again, it's the exact same product.
- 18:43Nothing different. Just a presentation.
- 18:45your eyes again is automatically drawn
- 18:48to this one on the right every single
- 18:49time. I I bet you it [music] is and I'm
- 18:51I'm not there sat behind you so I don't
- 18:54know and I'm not talking to you. I can't
- 18:56hear your opinion but I [music] bet
- 18:58that's the answer really. This this is
- 19:00the formula in a nutshell. Okay. Number
- 19:03one, you got to sell something that
- 19:05people want in the first place which
- 19:07comes from research which we're going to
- 19:09now start to cover in much more detail.
- 19:11Okay. So, if you sell something people
- 19:13want, you make a great design or a
- 19:16[music] great quality product
- 19:19and you present it better than the
- 19:20competition, unless you're pricing it
- 19:22like three or four times higher,
- 19:25you will make sales. Like, you are
- 19:29guaranteed to make sales if you tick
- 19:32these three boxes. If you tick two of
- 19:34the boxes and not three, your chances
- 19:36are massively reduced. You need to click
- 19:39all you need to tick all three of these
- 19:41boxes in order to have a very successful
- 19:43business on Etsy. And if you do this not
- 19:46just with one product, not just with two
- 19:48products, not just with 10 products, but
- 19:50if you do this with a large quantity of
- 19:53products that are all maintained an
- 19:55extremely high quality level and are
- 19:57presented beautifully, you will have a
- 20:00fantastic Etsy business on your hands
- 20:03and you will be making significant money
- 20:06because on Etsy, you are literally
- 20:08marketing your products to the whole
- 20:10world. Now, let's go into a bit more
- 20:12detail here. All right, guys. So pattern
- 20:15mining and research. Okay, that might be
- 20:19a term that's new to you. Pattern
- 20:20mining. Okay, what what is that? Right,
- 20:23so much of success nowadays, I I see it
- 20:26with the most successful clients I work
- 20:27with and it it's something I've always
- 20:29done. And funny enough, I was actually
- 20:30chatting to my mate about this in Bali
- 20:32and it was actually a term that he said
- 20:35to me. He said, "Alf, you know what? It
- 20:36don't matter what you're doing. Whether
- 20:38you're creating a YouTube channel,
- 20:39whether you're doing uh short form
- 20:41content, whether you're uh making meta
- 20:44ads, or whether you're making Etsy
- 20:47products, every single thing [music]
- 20:49comes down to your ability to recognize
- 20:53patterns in what's [music] already out
- 20:55there that's already working. Because
- 20:57once you can establish and [music] find
- 21:00the patterns for what is working, you
- 21:03can then process that and you can then
- 21:05turn that information and [music] you
- 21:06can use it for your own business. So
- 21:09pattern mining is incredibly important.
- 21:12It's a phenomenal skill to have. It does
- 21:14take time to master. Like I'll be the
- 21:16first to admit that. That's it's [music]
- 21:17not you're not going to go on to Etsy
- 21:19today, start pattern mining, and be the
- 21:21best in the world at it. It does take
- 21:23time to get really good at this skill.
- 21:24If you can master this skill, you master
- 21:27the game. So, pattern mining and
- 21:28research is incredibly important. Now,
- 21:30I'm going to show you this using Everbe.
- 21:32Okay. On Etsy, there are certain
- 21:34research apps that you can get that give
- 21:36you all of the behindthe-scenes data.
- 21:37So, how many times [music] a listing has
- 21:39been sold, how much the listing is being
- 21:41sold for, how much revenue listing has
- 21:43generated. Now, I'll be the first to say
- 21:46this. Are the figures 100% accurate all
- 21:48the time? No. But normally if there is a
- 21:51discrepancy in one [music] listing, that
- 21:53same discrepancy is the same for all
- 21:56listing because it's just however we
- 21:58gather their [music] data. There's
- 21:59normally about a one month delay in data
- 22:02gathering between Etsy and real life. So
- 22:04is [music] it 100% accurate? No. Is it
- 22:0695% accurate? I'd probably say so. Yeah.
- 22:09So, it's a great barometer to know the
- 22:12behind-the-scenes information within the
- 22:15[music] business of Etsy that you just
- 22:17can't get just by logging on to Etsy and
- 22:19just looking at everything at face
- 22:20[music] value. So, how do we use Everbe?
- 22:23Number one, you want to find shops that
- 22:26sell the same product as you. So, for
- 22:29me, for example, I sell mugs, [music]
- 22:31right? All I'm going to do is go to Etsy
- 22:33and I'm going to find other shops that
- 22:35sell mugs. What I'm then going to do is
- 22:37type the shop name into Everbeby. So,
- 22:39Arrow Gift Co Limited, for example,
- 22:41here, right? A phenomenal shop that
- 22:43sells phenomenal mug products. And I'm
- 22:45then going to see in order of sales and
- 22:48revenue, what is performing for them?
- 22:51It's really important to know the data.
- 22:52So, here, for example, if you want just
- 22:54a really quick win, go to EverB and do
- 22:56this. Type in a shop that sells the same
- 22:59product as you. Sort all of their
- 23:01products. So, go to their listings and
- 23:02sort all of their products in order of
- 23:04sales and revenue. sales or revenue,
- 23:06whichever one you prefer. And then look
- 23:08at the ideas and the targeting and the
- 23:12niches of the products [music] that are
- 23:13making the most sales. So again, let's
- 23:15take this one for example. Uh retired
- 23:17and under new management. That's a a mug
- 23:19for a retiree, right? Sorry. I know
- 23:21that's a winning um targeting angle for
- 23:24a product. Okay, gift for retiree. So I
- 23:28know that there is a level of demand
- 23:30there, right? And then what happens is
- 23:32over time once you look at 10 shops, 15
- 23:35shops, 20 shops that sell the same
- 23:36product as you, you will start to notice
- 23:39the patterns of what is continuously
- 23:42selling for each shop. And then what
- 23:44happens when you get better at
- 23:45recognizing those patterns? It's an
- 23:47[music] absolute cheat code for you
- 23:49because then you will stack the odds in
- 23:51your favor when you go to create a
- 23:53product and you apply that same [music]
- 23:55pattern philosophy. you know, you're
- 23:57creating a product and right from day
- 23:59one, it's got a higher probability of
- 24:01selling than anything else that you
- 24:03could have created. [music] So, pattern
- 24:05recognition is incredibly important. And
- 24:07what I want you to do is start actively
- 24:09[music] pattern mining for designing as
- 24:13well. So, not just shops and not just
- 24:15niches, but for designing, right? So,
- 24:17again, this is why EverB is so
- 24:18important. You can see here, this is a
- 24:20snapshot of some products from Etsy,
- 24:21right? Everbe plugin using Chrome allows
- 24:24you to see the data right underneath the
- 24:26listing on Etsy. What do all of these
- 24:29products have in common? So, you see,
- 24:30Everbe have told me that all these
- 24:32products are making good monthly sales
- 24:34or they're making a level of monthly
- 24:35sales. Okay, so now I just got to look
- 24:37at them and oh, I'm sure you can
- 24:39probably guess that this is a pretty
- 24:41obvious example. This background, so
- 24:43[music] this retro colored background is
- 24:46very common between all of these
- 24:48products that are working. Okay. Do you
- 24:50think that's just by chance or do you
- 24:52think if you then go away and you create
- 24:54a design and you put this same retro
- 24:58style of background on it versus no
- 25:00background, say for example, do you
- 25:02think it has a higher percentage chance
- 25:04of selling or a lower percentage chance
- 25:06of [music] selling? It's going to have a
- 25:07higher percentage chance of selling. And
- 25:11this is just one example of one aspect
- 25:14of the listing, [music] right? What you
- 25:16also do is you want to pattern mine for
- 25:19presentation, too. So, again, I've got
- 25:21all of these products here. Again,
- 25:23[music] one of them you can see here,
- 25:25um, really stands out. But look, these
- 25:27are all bestsellers and they're all very
- 25:29popular now products, okay? They're all
- 25:31making decent monthly sales, right? Or
- 25:33decent enough anyway. What's the common
- 25:37factor that you can see between all of
- 25:39these mugs in how they're being
- 25:40presented? Think about it now. Three,
- 25:43two, one. Hands in every single
- 25:49presentation here. There's hands
- 25:52involved.
- 25:54That's a pattern that is continuously
- 25:57shown to work well on Etsy for
- 26:00presenting this product type, which is a
- 26:02mug. So, again, I I took that into my
- 26:06own shop. I know that if I'm going to
- 26:08sell a mug and I'm looking for mock-ups
- 26:11of how to present that mug, if I
- 26:14incorporate hands [music] into the
- 26:16mockup, I've got a higher percentage
- 26:19chance of making sales. It's not about
- 26:21saying, "Yeah, if I do this, I do this,
- 26:24I do this, then I'm definitely going to
- 26:25sell the product." [music] No, cuz there
- 26:28could still be one thing with it that's
- 26:29lacking. There could be it could be a
- 26:31terrible design. But what we always want
- 26:33to do is play the odds in our favor and
- 26:37increase the percentages of our products
- 26:39selling as high as possible. So this is
- 26:42why having these apps like Everbe
- 26:44[music] and I don't really care which
- 26:46app you use to be honest but please use
- 26:50a research app because [music] the
- 26:53advantage it gives you of seeing the
- 26:56performance data for these products of
- 26:59being able to search for shops and see
- 27:02what's performing so that you can notice
- 27:04the patterns [music]
- 27:06so much easier and have the patterns
- 27:08right in front of [music] you is
- 27:10honestly an absolute gamecher. Like
- 27:13guys, you know that I mention Ever in
- 27:15pretty much every video. You know that
- 27:17they sponsor me. You know that there's a
- 27:19sponsored link in the video description.
- 27:21If you haven't gotten them already,
- 27:22please check them out. But like I said,
- 27:24if Everbe is not for you, use whatever
- 27:26research app that you do get along with
- 27:28best. But just use a research app. I
- 27:31mean, come on. The the advantage it
- 27:33gives you is unbelievable. Honestly,
- 27:36unbelievable. So, yeah. sponsored link
- 27:38to Everbe in the video description. As
- 27:40always, [music] if you haven't already,
- 27:42just check it out. You can get started
- 27:43for free as well. So,
- 27:46research will show you what to make. It
- 27:49will tell you who to make it for. It
- 27:52will tell you what design style to
- 27:53incorporate, and it can reveal to you
- 27:56the best patterns and the best way to
- 27:59present it.
- 28:01I don't want you to copy listings. I
- 28:03know there's other YouTubers out there
- 28:04and they say to you, "Just [music] copy
- 28:06bestsellers." You know, is that not like
- 28:08the most commonly used phrase that other
- 28:13people say online? [music] Like, is it
- 28:15not? I mean, I don't know. Do you agree
- 28:16with me or not? I hear it all the time
- 28:18when I watch other YouTubers. [music]
- 28:20Just copy bestsellers. Copy bestsellers
- 28:23because you know it works. You won't win
- 28:25by copying bestsellers. Copy patterns.
- 28:29Pattern recognition is [music]
- 28:32how you put the odds in your favor and
- 28:34then you add your own creativity to it.
- 28:37Okay, that's how you play the game. Now,
- 28:39when I work with clients, this is one
- 28:41thing I always do. Uh it's so important.
- 28:44So, I've took this directly from my
- 28:46notion database um of how I work with
- 28:48clients, right? So, this is an example
- 28:50what one of my clients put together for
- 28:52his art store. So, a fantasy art store
- 28:55of design pattern mining. Okay.
- 28:59So, what I get all of my clients to do
- 29:01is look at the elements of the listings
- 29:05or the elements within designs that are
- 29:08continuously performing well. And so,
- 29:12this is a great example here, right?
- 29:13Fantasy artwork. So, from all the
- 29:16listings that my client reviewed here,
- 29:18he noticed [music] Enchanted Forest
- 29:20performing consistently very well. So,
- 29:23what's the odds
- 29:25is if he was to make a hundred
- 29:27completely random fantasy images about
- 29:29completely random stuff or if he just
- 29:32just opened a shop up with 10 listings,
- 29:34but they were all based on enchanted
- 29:36forests. Which one of those two
- 29:39scenarios do you think he would have the
- 29:40higher likelihood or the higher
- 29:43probability of making sales within his
- 29:46first week from? I know the answer. It
- 29:50would be if he opened up focusing on
- 29:53creating designs that he has found there
- 29:56is winning patterns with. [music] Again,
- 29:59ghosts, right? Make an artwork with a
- 30:03ghost similar in a similar style to this
- 30:06in it and you [music] improve the
- 30:08likelihood of that listing performing
- 30:11considerably because you know there's
- 30:12demand for it. you know, other human
- 30:14beings on the other side of the screen
- 30:16are already exchanging their hard-earned
- 30:18money for these [music]
- 30:20designs.
- 30:22So, play the odds in your favor. And
- 30:24again, there's just some some more
- 30:25examples here. Right now, talk about
- 30:27something else very important. Once
- 30:29you've got great designs, you still need
- 30:30to present them. Okay? So, I said to you
- 30:34earlier about creating that listing
- 30:37template.
- 30:38So, the research and the design is only
- 30:40one aspect of it. still got to present
- 30:42the product. The way that we present
- 30:45products on Etsy is within [music] a
- 30:47listing template. So, this here, and
- 30:50again, this is something I always map
- 30:52out with all of my clients. This is an
- 30:53an exact ample an exact [music]
- 30:56example here of a listing template I put
- 30:59together one of my clients. So, you
- 31:01start with your main thumbnail image.
- 31:03You then have a video. You then have
- 31:05individual slides that show the product
- 31:08in different angles, in different rooms.
- 31:11In this example, for artwork, you then
- 31:14have an infographic one, infographic
- 31:16[music] 2, infographic 3. Now, I've
- 31:19blurred out his store name here because
- 31:22this is a [music] new client and I want
- 31:23to keep his store very private. So, this
- 31:26is what we would call a listing template
- 31:29based on research. [music]
- 31:31So, based on proven patterns within top
- 31:34performing listings that we have seen
- 31:35time and time again during the research
- 31:38phase. So, we know that if we put our
- 31:40designs into a listing template like
- 31:42this, again, right from day one, it's
- 31:45got the highest probability of
- 31:47performing well. This is what it looks
- 31:49like in template form. So, you see here,
- 31:52should be able to see if I just zoom out
- 31:53a little bit. So, this and this is the
- 31:55exact same. It's just this has the blank
- 31:57mockups in. So all he has to do each
- 32:00time now is just put his products or put
- 32:03his designs into these mockups into the
- 32:06listing template because we know that
- 32:08the template right from the start has
- 32:10got the best probability
- 32:13of performing.
- 32:15And again, I've just I've just marked
- 32:17this bit here in in red as well.
- 32:21In order to get high quality mock-ups
- 32:22like this, number one, make sure that
- 32:25you get the highest quality mock-ups
- 32:26that you possibly can based on research.
- 32:29Number two, you can get them from Etsy,
- 32:32you can get them from Creative Fabrica,
- 32:34or you can make them yourself using AI.
- 32:37The world is quite literally our oyster
- 32:40right now when it comes to presentation.
- 32:43But now once you got your listing
- 32:44template, you of course need to make
- 32:46high-quality designs that you can then
- 32:49insert [music] into the template each
- 32:51time, right?
- 32:53So I want to show you some examples here
- 32:56from Arrow Gift [music] Girl. Okay,
- 33:00this you'll see is the same listing
- 33:03image repeated three times.
- 33:06So this is a listing template and again
- 33:10I'm just showing you the example of the
- 33:11thumbnail image here. So the [music]
- 33:13main image that's presented front and
- 33:14center that you actually click on first.
- 33:17So this is listing template number one.
- 33:20You see all they've done is change the
- 33:21design each time. [music] The listing
- 33:23template for the thumbnail image has
- 33:25stayed the same. This is a different one
- 33:28they use on their store. Again you see
- 33:30same background, same listing template.
- 33:33They've just repeated it, but they've
- 33:35just changed the design on the product
- 33:37each time. That's repeatable throughout
- 33:39the whole store. The reason this is so
- 33:41effective is because there's less
- 33:44variables each time. So, if for example,
- 33:48we know that this style of presentation
- 33:51works. So, we know that we make a good
- 33:52level of sales using this thumbnail
- 33:55image [music] mockup, right? But then we
- 33:58we launch this product and it doesn't
- 34:00sell. Six months have gone, it doesn't
- 34:02sell.
- 34:03What the hell does that tell us? Because
- 34:05we know the presentation works. We know
- 34:07that the design either sucks or it's
- 34:10[music] got terrible targeting because
- 34:13there's not enough demands there for it
- 34:14in the first place. That would be the
- 34:16two reasons why if this product didn't
- 34:19sell, that would be the reasons why
- 34:20[music] it's not selling because we know
- 34:23that the template and the presentation
- 34:26works and we've removed that variable.
- 34:28Now, moving on. I'm sure you probably
- 34:30want to know now how to actually make
- 34:34killer [music] images and designs
- 34:36because hell I know when I first started
- 34:38out that's exactly what I wanted to
- 34:39know. So first of all I want to caveat
- 34:42something right cuz I hear again so many
- 34:44naysayers in comments and not just my
- 34:48videos but so many other Etsy YouTubers
- 34:49videos saying ah Etsy is too saturated
- 34:53now. You can't make money on Etsy
- 34:54anymore. There's too much competition.
- 34:57Etsy is not saturated, okay, with high
- 35:01quality designs. Etsy is saturated with
- 35:04lazy sellers putting out rubbish
- 35:06designs. That's what Etsy is saturated
- 35:08with. Etsy is not saturated with good
- 35:11products and good sellers presenting
- 35:13those products incredibly well and that
- 35:16does a high level of research to know
- 35:19how to present the products, how to put
- 35:22together a top performing listing
- 35:23template and how to make stunning
- 35:25designs that people actually want. Etsy
- 35:29is bottom of the barrel. Not bottom of
- 35:31the barrel, but Etsy is very low for
- 35:33that because there is not a lot of
- 35:35sellers out there doing that. That's why
- 35:37go back on my channel, all the videos
- 35:38are there. I started a mug print on
- 35:41demand shop because every I'm sure
- 35:44everybody can agree mugs and t-shirts
- 35:46are the most saturated [music]
- 35:48products out there and you can't have
- 35:50success doing that anymore. I started
- 35:52the POD mug business just to prove to
- 35:54you guys live as I went through it,
- 35:57giving you updates 30 days, 60 days, 90
- 36:00days on my shop right now that if you do
- 36:02things right, you can have a really good
- 36:04level of success with it, you know. I've
- 36:06done $20,000 in a single month selling
- 36:09POD mugs. And I only started that store
- 36:11[music] like realistically I only
- 36:13actually started seriously working on it
- 36:14a year and a half ago. Although [music]
- 36:16it has been open for 2 years, I did use
- 36:18it for a challenge. So in one and a half
- 36:20years of serious work on that shop,
- 36:23[music] it's done me 20k months in the
- 36:26most saturated product type on Etsy. So
- 36:28yeah, that's why I can say this so
- 36:30confidently. A top design with top
- 36:32marketing will always win. I don't care
- 36:35if your shop is 6 months old or 6 years
- 36:38old. If you create a design that people
- 36:40want and you market it better than the
- 36:42competition, you will win. You want to
- 36:44leverage AI to make all of your designs
- 36:47obviously nowadays [music] save time and
- 36:50using models, you know, models like GPT
- 36:53image generation [music] M2 phenomenal.
- 36:57Got text handling out of this world.
- 37:01graphics, you know, if you want anything
- 37:03with like watercolor or bold lines or
- 37:05whatever you want, phenomenal. There are
- 37:08some phenomenal AI programs out there
- 37:11now to generate you the highest quality
- 37:12images.
- 37:14But in order to do that, you need high
- 37:16quality prompting skills. So that would
- 37:18be [music] a great skill for you to
- 37:20learn. Maybe I'll do a video in the
- 37:21future just on this. If you want to see
- 37:23it, just let me know. But this is
- 37:26obviously very important when [music] it
- 37:27comes to getting the most out of AI. You
- 37:30also need to know the main aspects of
- 37:32what we are creating. So you know like I
- 37:36touched on earlier whether it's the
- 37:37[music]
- 37:38patterns within within the research that
- 37:40you recognize certain things of oh um
- 37:43[music] when images are presented or
- 37:46when mugs are presented with people
- 37:48grabbing it using their hands not
- 37:51predominantly a woman maybe with some
- 37:53rings on. I've seen that work quite a
- 37:55few times in different variations. I
- 37:58know there's something in that. Okay,
- 38:01that's logic based. That's statistical
- 38:03data to prove to us that there is
- 38:07positive correlation between that
- 38:09presentation method and the sales that
- 38:12those products are making. You also need
- 38:14a high quality AI image generation tool
- 38:16that you can rely on. Now, I know that
- 38:19there's lots out there. I'm going to
- 38:20touch on the one that I recommend
- 38:22personally and the one that I use to
- 38:24make my designs with, but like I said,
- 38:27you just need a tool that you can rely
- 38:29on. Now, step one, find the top
- 38:33performing products in your niche. I
- 38:35said to you at the start of the video,
- 38:37for those diehard top learners, the top
- 38:41percent of you that's still watching
- 38:43right now, I was going to show you some
- 38:44behind the scenes of exactly how I work
- 38:46through things with clients. I'm going
- 38:48to show you that now. So
- 38:51I work through everything
- 38:54with my clients through [music]
- 38:56notion dashboard, right? So you every
- 38:59absolutely everything is on here and one
- 39:01key section [music]
- 39:02that we focus a hell of a lot of time on
- 39:05is research. So, when we take the
- 39:08step-by-step approach to research, like
- 39:10I said, after we've got a high quality
- 39:13um research app to actually allow
- 39:14[music] us to do research on, the first
- 39:17thing that we do, and the first thing I
- 39:19recommend you do as well is to qualify a
- 39:23[music] product that you want to sell
- 39:25for. And the first place to start there
- 39:27is by looking at a number of different
- 39:29products. Now, this is a POD example.
- 39:31So, you could look at three products
- 39:33here. Say one of them could be mug, one
- 39:35of them could be artwork is your product
- 39:37two and and product three could be pod
- 39:40blankets for example, whatever. But you
- 39:42need to qualify it against a solid
- 39:46proven criteria of metrics to know that
- 39:49it's a good product to put your time
- 39:51into making hundreds of them over the
- 39:53next few months. So you need to know
- 39:55that there's demand there. You need to
- 39:56know that there's profit. You need to
- 39:58see what the competition is. You need to
- 40:00know that the product is scalable and
- 40:01the shop is scalable. You need to know
- 40:03how much effort it takes you to make
- 40:05those products consistently. And two
- 40:08little bonus ones as well. You need to
- 40:10know that [music] you can personalize it
- 40:11cuz spoiler, Etsy is predominantly used
- 40:14for gifts. And then you need to know
- 40:16that there's gift [music] categories
- 40:17available there for a product. So for
- 40:20me, if a product doesn't tick all of
- 40:21those boxes, it's not viable. I need to
- 40:24know that I can produce them at a rapid
- 40:26rate to a level of high quality. I need
- 40:29to know that there's demand there, not
- 40:31too much competition, and I [music] need
- 40:32to know that it's incredibly scalable
- 40:34with the good profit margin. Then once
- 40:37you've qualified a product, I would
- 40:38normally talk through [music] that with
- 40:40my clients once they've completed that
- 40:43and we go through everything um
- 40:44together. You then want to find the
- 40:48shops, so 30 shops minimum that sell
- 40:52those products. Okay? And then you want
- 40:55to record what's good about those shops
- 40:57and why they're successful. You then go
- 40:59into quite a high level of detail here
- 41:01where you then import those shops. Uh
- 41:05you export the data, sorry, for those
- 41:07shops. Like I said earlier, from Everbe
- 41:10and you then set up a full research
- 41:13database. I said I've got everything
- 41:16here step by step. You set up a full
- 41:18research database where you have all of
- 41:21those products
- 41:23that are performing well, all those
- 41:25shops that you've looked at with the
- 41:27links to the products so you can see
- 41:28them all on Etsy. The total number of
- 41:30sales that each one has made, like I
- 41:32said, there is going to be thousands on
- 41:34here. So, if there's a product on Etsy
- 41:35that's doing well [music] that's in the
- 41:37same niche as you or the same product
- 41:39type as you, you'll know about it.
- 41:42You then mark down the niche targeting
- 41:45in the product, whether it's
- 41:47personalized or not, whether it's for a
- 41:48specific event or not. And then you can
- 41:51start to list out the opportunities
- 41:53[music]
- 41:53of how you can take the concepts from
- 41:55those winning products and put them into
- 41:58your own to increase your likelihood of
- 42:00making sales tfold.
- 42:03So that's step one. Okay, that's the
- 42:06basic research stage. Once you've got
- 42:08that and you've got your master research
- 42:09spreadsheet, [music] it's just a case of
- 42:11working through one by one, looking at
- 42:13the opportunities and you've got
- 42:14everything in front of you. So, you'll
- 42:16never run out of ideas to create and
- 42:19what to create.
- 42:21Step two, you actually want to start
- 42:23creating the products. [music] Now, for
- 42:25this, like I said, you need you just
- 42:27need an AI tool that you can rely on
- 42:28that's got good value, [music] that
- 42:30produces consistent results, that's easy
- 42:33to use. I'm going to recommend Kit here.
- 42:35Okay, I've featured KD in previous
- 42:37videos. I know that you guys are
- 42:39watching this. You don't just want me to
- 42:40tell you, oh, make good quality designs.
- 42:42You want to know how I do it and and the
- 42:45programs I use. You guys always ask me
- 42:46about the programs I recommend. KD is a
- 42:49great one I recommend for AI image
- 42:51generation. They've got all the latest
- 42:53models on there. You can work on KD very
- 42:56easily on their artboard. You can even
- 42:59mock your products and designs up
- 43:01directly on KD [music] and just the
- 43:05whole production on KD is very very
- 43:08simple, very straightforward. And like I
- 43:10said, they got all the top models on
- 43:11there as well. [music] And to be honest,
- 43:13the price ratio to the tokens is very
- 43:17competitive and they're actually one of
- 43:19the best compared to a lot of the other
- 43:21AI image generation apps out [music]
- 43:23there. So, at the minute, I'm using Kit.
- 43:26I'd recommend you to check it out. There
- 43:28is a sponsored link in the video
- 43:29description if you want to check Kit out
- 43:31and that'll also get you a month for
- 43:32free as well if you use that link with
- 43:34their premium plan. [music] Make sure to
- 43:36just use the code Alfie at checkout as
- 43:39well. That's if you wanted to check his
- 43:41out. But again, I'm not bothered what
- 43:43app you use. I'm not bothered what AI
- 43:44image generation app you use. [music]
- 43:46That's just one that I use. That's the
- 43:47one I recommend. Then step three. Once
- 43:50you got your high-quality designs from
- 43:52research, you of course need to find a
- 43:56top performing and reliable supplier.
- 43:59Because if, like I said in that earlier
- 44:02equation, the product quality isn't
- 44:04good, then over time you're going to end
- 44:07up with bad reviews and that's going to
- 44:09tank your store anyway. So it don't
- 44:10matter how good your listings are, your
- 44:12store is not going to perform. So guys,
- 44:15don't make a meal out of this. Don't
- 44:17make this a big thing. If it was me,
- 44:19honestly, I'd go I'd really simplify
- 44:21things. I'd get on Printify. I'd look at
- 44:25the catalog of products and the products
- 44:27that Printify sell. You know that if a
- 44:29product is for sale on Printify, then
- 44:31it's going to be good quality and it's
- 44:34from [music] a reputable supplier.
- 44:35There's so many other print on demand
- 44:38suppliers out there, like a lot of these
- 44:40third party ones that are not reliable
- 44:42when it comes to shipping. The support
- 44:44on the programs are terrible. Uh the
- 44:47tracking details aren't good. So
- 44:48customers ultimately end up confused and
- 44:50angry and give you bad reviews. Printify
- 44:53for me by far and away, and every other
- 44:57YouTuber says it anyway, so you don't
- 44:58just have to take my word for it. They
- 45:00are the number one place to go to if
- 45:02you're looking to get into print on
- 45:04demand drop shipping and you want to
- 45:05sell white label [music] good products.
- 45:08They got a massive catalog. Anything
- 45:10that you could ever want to sell is on
- 45:12there. Like I said, tons of products to
- 45:14qualify using the qualification [music]
- 45:16metrics and the overall pricing is very
- 45:19favorable as well. So again, if you
- 45:21wanted to get going on Printify
- 45:23sponsored link in the video description,
- 45:25that should give you I can't remember
- 45:26[music] if bit of a discount or a month
- 45:28for free, a little bit of a bonus.
- 45:30Anyway, either way, but yeah, like I
- 45:32said, if you want to start checking out
- 45:34from today, again, there's another
- 45:36sponsored link in the video description.
- 45:38Now, this is the step process, okay? And
- 45:42by the way, I've always used Printify as
- 45:43well if if that helps at all. But yeah,
- 45:47moving on. So, three-step equation here.
- 45:50Okay, you always start with research.
- 45:52Research the product, research the shops
- 45:54that sell that product, you research for
- 45:56listing templates, you research for the
- 45:59niches that perform well, [music] and
- 46:01you research for the design aspects that
- 46:04are performing well as well, so you can
- 46:05then use them in your own designs. You
- 46:07then make your listing templates. You
- 46:10focus heavily on presentation and you
- 46:13focus heavily on getting the best
- 46:15quality mock-ups that you possibly can.
- 46:19Then the final step is just making your
- 46:21designs. You know what you're designing
- 46:23and who you're designing for. You've got
- 46:25the template made up for the
- 46:26presentation. [music] You then just have
- 46:28to plug your design into the template
- 46:31each time.
- 46:34By this point and up until now in the
- 46:36training, if you follow everything to a
- 46:38tea, you will have some high-quality
- 46:40designs on your store that are well
- 46:42researched and presented well. [music]
- 46:44Now, that is not the full equation.
- 46:46Okay, there is of course another very
- 46:49important step which so much of the
- 46:51advice out there never mentions. I never
- 46:54see this mentioned and it's very
- 46:56important.
- 46:59You need to learn how to test and gather
- 47:03data.
- 47:05Said this wise man here. I don't know if
- 47:07he said it. This is I I just thought
- 47:08this this would go well.
- 47:11But what you cannot measure, you cannot
- 47:14improve, right? How the hell can you
- 47:18improve something if you don't know why
- 47:20it's doing what it's doing? Right? Just
- 47:22think about it. I I leave you that just
- 47:24to think about for a minute. If you're
- 47:26looking at your Etsy store now and
- 47:28you're logging on, okay, and you got all
- 47:29this data in front of you, all this
- 47:31stats, clickthrough rates, you know,
- 47:32visits, views, favorites, you got a few
- 47:35a bit of sales data, and you're looking
- 47:37at one listing, you're like, why is this
- 47:40one not performing? And then you [music]
- 47:41got another listing which is like, I
- 47:44never thought that would make a sale.
- 47:45Like, why is people even clicking on
- 47:46that? Then you are missing out some
- 47:50[music] you are missing out on so much
- 47:55because if you cannot predict
- 47:59how your shop's going to perform the
- 48:01next month, if you can't predict, you
- 48:03know, when you're making a listing, if
- 48:05you can't predict whether it's going to
- 48:06perform or not, if you don't know what
- 48:09niches are working,
- 48:12there's just an endless list. If you
- 48:14don't know why your shop is doing what
- 48:16it's doing, how are [music] you ever
- 48:18going to be able to improve it? If you
- 48:20don't know why things aren't working,
- 48:22how are you going to be able to improve
- 48:23it? You're just always going to be
- 48:24guessing. [music] So, you have to test.
- 48:27And and there's so many tests I run
- 48:29through with with [music] everybody I
- 48:30work through. It is absolutely
- 48:32fundamental. It could be a whole one to
- 48:34two hour training course on its own.
- 48:36Honestly, [music]
- 48:37data analysis is the difference between
- 48:39someone who makes a lucky [music] 10,
- 48:4120, maybe even 50 sales every month
- 48:44versus the sellers that are doing five
- 48:45figures consistently every month. To be
- 48:47able to interpret and analyze data is
- 48:51fundamental. So, here's an example of a
- 48:54very baseline test that you can run if
- 48:56you're just getting going. Okay? So, use
- 48:59two to three different main thumbnail
- 49:01images for each product and test what
- 49:03works. Okay? [music] So, I've got some
- 49:06examples here. Say that you've got 60
- 49:08listings on your shop.
- 49:11Well, you see here, I've got three
- 49:13different ways of presenting these mugs,
- 49:15right? This is number one. Let's just go
- 49:17left to right with the wood. So, you got
- 49:19the mug on the wood, white background.
- 49:21You [music] got this template to present
- 49:23a product, which is number two, human
- 49:25hands. and this which is number three
- 49:28just on a
- 49:30gray background right with a really like
- 49:33nothing really in the background at all.
- 49:34So what you would do is put 20 of each
- 49:36style on your shop right with obviously
- 49:38your different designs. Then you'd
- 49:40[music] analyze the data for each. Let's
- 49:42say that products that use this design
- 49:45got 30 sales between them. Products that
- 49:48use this presentation style only got two
- 49:51sales. So out of the 20 products [music]
- 49:54they only made two sales. And out of the
- 49:5520 products in this style, there was 30
- 49:58sales. And out of the 20 products in
- 50:01this style, there was 15 sales. So what
- 50:04you would do out of those three is you'd
- 50:06then take the one style that
- 50:08consistently didn't perform well and you
- 50:11would change it. So you'd remove it. So,
- 50:13every single listing that you used this
- 50:16presentation technique with, you would
- 50:18go in, you would edit the listing, and
- 50:20you would change that method of
- 50:22presentation for the top performing one.
- 50:25So, now your store looks like this.
- 50:27You've got 40 listings that have got
- 50:30this presentation method and 20 that
- 50:33have got this presentation method,
- 50:36still the same 60 listings.
- 50:39And if you do that in a systematic way
- 50:42for various different factors. So this
- 50:44was just an example of a thumbnail
- 50:46image, right? You do it for the
- 50:47infographics. [music] You do it for
- 50:49everything. So do it in a systematic way
- 50:51for various factors and use the data to
- 50:53improve [music] always. Okay? All the
- 50:56time.
- 50:57Always base everything off data
- 51:00and know what is happening. Remove the
- 51:02guesswork out of the equation. Such a
- 51:04big part in creating high quality
- 51:05products. systematic improvements month
- 51:09on month every single step of the way.
- 51:12Don't neglect this cuz you will get left
- 51:14behind. So, you might have got to the
- 51:17point in the video now where you know a
- 51:20little bit more than what you did at the
- 51:21start about producing highquality
- 51:24products and the steps to get there and
- 51:28the approach of how to get high quality
- 51:31products. Okay, you might even be
- 51:33thinking to yourself, "Wow, Alfie, I've
- 51:34invested in other people's courses
- 51:36before and I haven't got this level of
- 51:38detail." [music] You wouldn't be the
- 51:39first to say that because other people
- 51:40have said that as well, you know. By no
- 51:42means am I saying I'm I'm the best Etsy
- 51:44seller in the world out there. But I
- 51:46certainly do back myself every day of
- 51:48the week because I know what my current
- 51:51shops are doing. I know what I've done
- 51:52in the past and I know what my clients
- 51:53are doing. So,
- 51:55I know that this stuff works, guys.
- 51:57Honestly, I'm I'm not BSing about
- 51:59anything. If if you do these steps
