0:21a video game while they were trapped,
0:22but then he got really cold and passed
0:24out. He assumes that he's in some kind
0:26of hospital, but this is not the case.
0:28He is stunned when he sees that people
0:31outside are using magic. Just then his
0:33friend named Fujian arrives and he
0:35explains what's going on. He's really
0:37excited as he tells Makoto that they're
0:40in every gamer's dream. He reveals to
0:42our hero that they are now in another
0:44world, but Makoto already assumed that.
0:46Fujian goes even further as he says that
0:49there's something even more exciting
0:50here. He says that it's like every

1:20while they were buried alive. Makoto
1:22said that he was almost at the best part
1:24and she pointed out that he really loves
1:26video games. Just then Fujian reminds
1:28Makoto that they now live in a world
1:30filled with monsters. Things will be
1:32getting dangerous, so they have to stay
1:34focused. They have to find out what
1:36their abilities are, so Fujian points
1:38our hero to the people who will show him
1:40what his skills are. Makoto goes to see
1:43the priest and he is told that they were
1:45brought to this world after their lives
1:46ended. The goddess was the one that
1:48transferred them here and she granted
1:50them unique skills. Makoto wants to know
1:53what his skills are, so the priest says
1:55that he will check for him. He shows our
1:57hero a soul book, which will keep a
1:59record of Makoto's skills and stats.
2:01After offering a prayer to the goddess,
2:03the soul book is filled with all of our
2:05hero's information. The priest is
2:07excited because otherworlders usually
2:10have exceptional stats. He is sure that
2:12Makoto will too, and he finally reveals
2:15our hero's unique skills. The first is
2:17called calm mind, the second is water
2:19magic, and the third is called RPG
2:22player. Makoto assumes that they're very
2:24powerful skills, but the priest has bad
2:26news. He explains that he's never heard
2:28of Makoto's last skill, and the others
2:30are pretty basic. He looks at Makoto's
2:33stats next, but he says that there must
2:35be some kind of mistake. The numbers are
2:37worse than a commoner's, but they don't
2:39have the heart to tell Makoto. The
2:40priest says that his stats are not as

4:37light, which means that he's ready to
4:39adventure right now. Rio says that
4:41they're planning to head out tomorrow
4:43and he invites Makoto. Makoto turns down
4:45the offer because he knows that he has a
4:47lot of training to do. A little later,
4:49Makoto starts training in the beginner
4:52rank class. This means that he's alone
4:54without any of his other classmates. He
4:56learns that the strength of a mage's

6:10looks at his soul book. Makoto tells
6:12himself to calm down because he's been
6:14training like crazy for this very
6:15moment. Unfortunately, Sofia doesn't
6:18grant him the blessing and she just
6:20tells him to keep working hard. Makoto
6:22pleads for her to look again, but she
6:24just says that he needs more training.
6:26Our hero's devastated because he's the
6:28only one that's getting left behind.
6:30After that, no scouts ever came for him
6:33and eventually his one year was up. It's
6:35time for Makoto to leave on his own, so
6:37he says goodbye to everyone. He sums up

7:21reality. If he loses his life here, then
7:24he won't get another chance. He panics
7:27as he decides to leave, but then he
7:29remembers his calm mind skill. He uses
7:31it and it allows him to focus again.
7:34Just then a status screen pops up and it
7:36asks him if he wants to save the

11:31He goes to the adventurers guild and

11:38to register and the receptionist asks
11:40him for his soul book. As she checks it,
11:43Makoto thinks about how he is weak with

17:07defeat, and Makoto finds one. His ice
17:09arrow defeats it, but his attack is
17:12still too weak to end its life. Makoto
17:14eventually completes the quest, but he
17:16decides to do a bit more hunting. His
17:18system picks up the presence of some
17:19goblins, and there are quite a few of
17:21them. The system then questions if he
17:24would like to fight the goblins, and
17:25Makoto thinks about it. He [snorts] has
17:27defeated some before, and the
17:29receptionist told him that there's a
17:31reward for beating them. Makoto decides
17:33to do it, and he finds a goblin soon
17:35after. He uses stealth to sneak up on
17:38one, and he ends its life. Afterwards,
17:40he returns to the guild, and the
17:42receptionist can't believe that he
17:43defeated five goblins. Makoto goes
17:46hunting right after, and the
17:47receptionist is stunned again because he
17:49defeated another 10. The other
17:51adventurers refuse to believe that he
17:53did it alone because he's only an
17:55apprentice mage. Makoto ignores them,
17:58and he just goes hunting again. This
18:00time, he defeats 20 goblins, and the
18:02receptionist loses her mind again.
18:04Another adventurer encourages our hero
18:06to keep up the good work, so Makoto
18:08does. He hunts even more, and the
18:11receptionist congratulates him for
18:13defeating 30 goblins this time. The
18:15other adventurers start calling him the
18:16goblin cleaner, and Makoto wishes that
18:19they would have picked a cooler
18:20nickname. Makoto then turns in the
18:22rabbit horns, and the merchant allows
18:24him to choose anything he wants. He

19:19bronze, he treats them like grown men.
19:22The others then reveal that they will be
19:23challenging a monster hunting quest in
19:26the next few days. Their target is a
19:28stray ogre, and Lucas says that it's a
19:30right of passage toward reaching iron
19:32rank. He wishes them luck, and they
19:34prepare to leave. It's clear that Jean
19:36doesn't like Makoto one bit, as he gives
19:38him a mean look before walking away.
19:40Mary tells Makoto not to let Jean bother
19:43him, but Makoto points out that he
19:44doesn't care. He simply says that he's
19:47going to keep progressing at his own
19:48slow pace. Lucas is surprised, as he
19:51points out that defeating a ton of
19:53goblins every day is not slow at all.
19:55The next day, Makoto gets back to work,
19:58and he defeats another 20 goblins. Just
20:00then, Makoto's map warns that a stray
20:02ogre is nearby. He decides to retreat,
20:05but the beast finds the other rookies.
20:07Makoto has a bad feeling, and he says
20:10that the rookies are in trouble. The
20:11giant ogre is way too powerful to fight,
20:14so Jean says that they have to run.
20:15Unfortunately, one of them falls, and
20:18the system asks Makoto if he wants to
20:20save her. Her name is Lucy, and Jean
20:22fears that he won't be able to help her.
20:24Makoto, on the other hand, refuses to
20:26abandon her, so he uses his calm mind

21:05surprise. He points out that the water
21:07gets pretty deep and the beast ends up
21:09getting stuck. Makoto then uses his
21:11water flow spell and he traps the beast
21:13inside the current for good. Our hero is
21:15victorious and he's just glad that his
21:18plan worked. The other rookies arrive
21:20and they are in complete shock. They
21:22can't believe that our hero won but
21:24Makoto is really casual about it. He
21:26simply says that he wants to take the
21:27ogre's head back to town and he wants
21:30their help. Back in town, Lucas
21:31announces to everyone that Makoto
21:33defeated a big ogre. The townspeople are
21:36amazed and Lucas says that they will
21:38have to choose a better nickname for our
21:40hero. Lucas chooses the ogre slayer but
21:43Makoto wishes that this would just end.
21:45Afterwards, Makoto takes some time to
21:47relax and Lucy arrives to say something.
21:49Lucy wonders if she can sit next to
21:51Makoto and he tells her to go ahead. She
21:54orders the same thing he is having and
21:56she thanks him for what he did today.
21:58She introduces herself and says that he
22:00saved her life but Makoto thinks that
22:02she's exaggerating. The owner brings
22:04their food and Lucy brings up how Makoto
22:06cast a spell without chanting. That is
22:08incredible to her because it means that
22:10his mastery must be over 50. She assumes
22:13that it was super hard to raise it that
22:15high so Makoto admits that it was. He
22:17has only been learning magic for a
22:19little over a year and he says that he
22:21was pretty desperate when he thinks back
22:23on it. Lucy can't believe that he did it

22:34skills. She assumes that he must be one
22:36of the heroes but Makoto says that he
22:38isn't. Deep down he knows that she
22:40definitely has the wrong idea because he
22:43only has the weakest skills. Lucy then
22:45shocks our hero when she asks him to
22:47form a party with her. Just then, Lucas
22:50and the receptionists arrive and they
22:51congratulate Makoto for defeating a big
22:54ogre. Makoto says that it was just a
22:56fluke and Lucas wonders if Lucy is
22:58trying to make a move on him. Lucy says
23:01that she's just trying to get Makoto to
23:02party with her and a status screen pops
23:04up to ask her hero if he wants to accept
23:07her. Makoto says that he plans on
23:09staying solo for a while because he
23:11barely knows her. Lucas points out that
23:13it will be tough to keep adventuring
23:15solo from now on, but Makoto wants to
23:17take his time while staying at bronze
23:19rank. Lucas says that he's well past
23:21bronze rank because he took down a big
23:23ogre. So, Makoto shows everyone his
23:25stats. Lucy is stunned because the
23:28numbers are so bad and she wonders if
23:30he's a commoner. The receptionist says
23:32that his stats really are awful, but she
23:34praises him for working so hard on his
23:36own. Just then, everyone is stunned when
23:39they notice that Makoto's magic mastery
23:41is at 90. Lucas says that that's crazy
23:44high, so Makoto explains that he had to
23:46get creative with the little mana he
23:48has. This makes Lucy realize that this
23:51is why Makoto lured the ogre closer to
23:53the water instead of trying to overpower
23:55it with magic. Makoto then says that he
23:57isn't forming a party, but Lucy doesn't
23:59give up. She reveals that her skill is
24:02fire magic king and she is sure that she
24:04will prove useful. Makoto says that king
24:06rank is amazing, so there are plenty of
24:09parties who would welcome her. Lucy
24:11knows that she can choose which party
24:12she wants to join, but Lucas points out
24:15the problem. Her skill really is
24:16incredible, but Lucy isn't able to make
24:19good use of it at all. Lucas thinks that
24:21she would be okay if she were with
24:23Makoto and Lucy agrees. Makoto points
24:26out that a party of two mages is not a
24:28great idea, but Lucy says that it will
24:30be okay as long as they're together. The
24:33status screen appears again and Makoto
24:35thinks about how this is like a forced
24:36party event in an RPG. He wonders if
24:39this is one of those times where he
24:41can't progress in the game unless he
24:43chooses yes. Lucas tells him to give
24:45partying a try and even the owner says
24:47that party members are great to have.
24:50Lucy pleads with him, so Makoto finally
24:52gives in and agrees to party up. Lucy
24:55couldn't be happier, but a girl named
24:57Emily is furious. She appoints out that
24:59Lucy asked to join their party and now
25:01she's partying with someone else. Lucy
25:03says that she has no business with
25:05people who abandoned her and ran away.
25:07Jean apologizes, but Lucy says that she
25:10has no need for an unreliable leader.
25:13The girls start arguing, so the
25:14receptionist has to break it up. Lucas
25:16then reminds Jean that he has something
25:18to say to Makoto, so Jean thanks her
25:20hero for saving them. Makoto says that
25:22anyone would have done the same in that
25:24moment and Jean calls him a generous
25:26guy. Lucas tells him to get along as
25:28fellow rookies and they all share a
25:30drink. Makoto then thinks about how he
25:33just managed to form his first party.
25:35The next morning Lucy apologizes for
25:37being late and Makoto says that he just
25:39stepped out. She says that they should
25:41get going and Makoto thinks about how
25:43this is like a conversation between a
25:45couple. He also realizes that she's
25:47quite pretty now that he's looking at
25:49her, but he quickly uses his calm mind
25:51skill. Makoto then asks if she's an elf
25:54and Lucy explains that she's from the
25:56Elven Village. Makoto didn't know that
25:58there were elves with red eyes and red
26:00hair, so Lucy reveals that she isn't a
26:02pureblood elf. She wonders if that
26:04bothers him, but Makoto only asked
26:07because she is the first elf he has met
26:09since coming to this world. He isn't
26:11sure if he should pry any further and he
26:13thinks about how this is a big challenge
26:14for someone as socially inept as him.
26:17Lucy wonders where they will be hunting
26:19goblins, so Makoto says that he usually
26:21goes to the outskirts of the Forest of
26:23Fiends. Lucy points out that it takes
26:25half a day just to get there, but Makoto
26:28says that they will be fine. He uses
26:30walk on water and tells Lucy to give him
26:32her hand. He warns her not to let go
26:35because the spell's effect will end if
26:36she does. Makoto then uses a spell he
26:39made by tweaking his flow spell and he
26:42calls it the moving water walkway. Lucy
26:44thinks it's a strange name, but they
26:46move at incredible speed and they arrive
26:48in no time. Makoto then uses his fog
26:51spell and he reveals that they're
26:53surrounded by around 40 goblins. Lucy
26:56begins to panic, but Makoto says that
26:58the chance of them being noticed in the
27:00mist is slim. Lucy says that this is the
27:02goblin cleaner for you, but Makoto asked
27:05her not to call him that. He uses
27:07stealth to hunt down the goblins nearby,
27:09and he takes one out. Lucy can't even
27:11see the goblin he defeated because
27:13Makoto froze its blood to avoid any
27:15splatters. She is amazed because he did
27:18all that without chanting, and he is
27:20pulling off something amazing like it's
27:22nothing. Makoto defeats 10 goblins in a
27:24short time, and Lucy says that he's
27:26incredible. Makoto says that this
27:28gimmicky magic is all he can do with his
27:31low mana, but Lucy insists that it is
27:33not gimmicky. Makoto wants to see some
27:35of her magic, so Lucy explains that it
27:38takes her at least 3 minutes to chant.
27:40Makoto declares that he will take out
27:42any goblins that come close so she can
27:44focus on her chant. Lucy begins her long
27:47chant, and she tells herself that she
27:48needs to show Makoto that she can do
27:50well. Makoto thinks it's amazing, but he
27:53notices that the fireball is getting a
27:55little too big. Lucy launches the
27:57fireball, and it completely wipes out
27:59the goblins. Unfortunately, it also sets
28:02the entire forest on fire, so Makoto
28:04desperately uses his water magic to put
28:06it out. Afterwards, Lucy wonders if
28:08Makoto's angry because he did all the
28:10work putting out the fire, and he even
28:12got chewed out because of her. Makoto
28:14says that he isn't angry, but she still
28:17wonders if he's going to dissolve their
28:18party. Makoto points out that it's still
28:21just the first day, but he asks her to
28:23hold back on the firepower. Lucy then
28:25reveals that it was her smallest one,
28:27and she can't limit the firepower any
28:29further than that. Makoto asked to see
28:31her soul book, and he finds that her
28:33unique skills are fire magic king and
28:36elementaler. She also has high wizard,
28:39which means that she can use all four
28:40elements. Unfortunately, Lucy can't use
28:43them because she has only had training
28:45in fire magic. Makoto wonders what
28:48elementaler does. So, Lucy explains that
28:50it's a skill that many elves and dwarves
28:52possess because they worship elementals.
28:55Lucy can't use that either because
28:57elemental magic is really hard. It lets
28:59you borrow mana from the elementals
29:02instead of using your own, but
29:03controlling it is really difficult. Lucy
29:05can't even control her own mana well
29:07enough, so Makoto says that they should
29:09start from there. While they practice,
29:12Makoto thinks about how Lucy's magic
29:14doesn't just require a long chant, but
29:16it's also unstable. The first step is to
29:18raise her mastery so she can regulate
29:20the size of her flames, and she also
29:22needs to practice controlling it a lot
29:24better. A while later, Lucy says that
29:27she was completely useless again today,
29:29but Makoto points out that her mastery
29:31went up a level. Lucy says that she's
29:33still a long way from 50, and Makoto
29:35isn't getting anything by joining her
29:37training all the time. Makoto tells her
29:39not to worry because he's still hunting
29:41goblins before their practice. He can
29:44tell that she is down, and he wishes
29:46that he knew how to cheer a girl up.
29:48Lucy then reveals that she wants to be
29:50like her mom, who's an incredibly
29:52powerful mage. She wonders if Makoto has
29:54some kind of goal, so he says that he
29:56wants to conquer the Sea Floor Temple.
29:59Lucy is stunned because the Sea Floor
30:01Temple is so hard that it is known as
30:03the final dungeon. Makoto says that it's
30:06best to set your goals high, so Lucy
30:08agrees to work hard again tomorrow. Just
30:10then, Jean arrives, and he wonders if
30:12Makoto wants to take a little quest with
30:14him and Emily. The quest is to defeat a
30:16rampaging bison, and the guild wants to
30:18approve just the two of them. Noah tells
30:21Makoto that he should pass, and Makoto
30:23points out that the quest is in the
30:25meadows where he can't do anything
30:26without a water source. Jean says that
30:28he and Emily will focus on dealing with
30:30the bison, and Makoto can have a larger
30:32share of the reward as a thanks for
30:34saving them. Lucy tells Makoto that it's
30:37okay to turn them down, and Noah
30:39completely agrees with her. Jean then
30:41reminds Lucy that she has been banned
30:43from using fire magic in the Great
30:44Forest, but she can use it as much as
30:46she likes inside the Meadows. Makoto
30:49thinks it's a good idea, and Lucy
30:51declares that she will show them the
30:52fruits of her training. Afterwards, Noah
30:54wonders why Makoto accepted the quest.
30:57Makoto knows that the Meadows put him at
30:59a disadvantage, but he points out that
31:01Lucy's fire magic does a ton of damage
31:03when it actually hits something. He
31:05wants to help her improve, and this
31:07quest is a great way to do it. Noah
31:09teases him by pointing out that the
31:11problem is getting it to hit in the
31:13first place. Makoto doesn't deny it, but
31:16he says that Lucy's in good spirits and
31:17feeling motivated, so he wants to give
31:19her a chance. Noah admits that she
31:21actually likes the side of Makoto, but
31:23she reminds him to treasure his life.
31:25She has told him many times before, and
31:28she says it again. She won't forgive him
31:30if he loses his life, so she tells him
31:32that safety comes first. On the day of
31:34the quest, Makoto uses clairvoyance, and
31:37he spots a bison about 1 km ahead. Lucy
31:40wants to blast it with her magic, but
31:42Emily says that there's no way that she
31:44can hit it because she lacks control.
31:46Makoto says that he will act as bait
31:48because he won't be useful for damage
31:50this time. The plan is for him to lure
31:52the bison out, so Lucy can weaken it,
31:54and then Jean can finish it off with his
31:56magic sword. Emily will cast support
31:59magic on Lucy and Jean, and she will put
32:01some defense magic on Makoto. Lucy
32:03starts chanting, and Makoto uses calm
32:06mind and stealth to approach the beast.
32:08He gets its attention, and uses flee to
32:10run away, but the bison is faster than
32:12he expected. Makoto just barely dodges
32:15its charge, and he keeps luring it
32:17towards the others. Unfortunately, Lucy
32:19fires her fireball too soon, and Makoto
32:22says that she can't shoot it before it
32:24starts moving. She misses, and now
32:26there's not enough time for her to chant
32:28again. Makoto uses his ice floor spell
32:31to make the beast slip, and he tells
32:33Lucy to hurry up and chant. Jean uses
32:35wind blade to stall it, but his attack
32:37is too shallow. Makoto uses Ice Arrow to
32:40get its attention again, but he is now
32:42out of mana. Jean uses Shield Tackle to
32:44hold the bison back, but he can barely
32:46hold on. Just then, Lucy finishes her
32:49chant, and her fireball lands a direct
32:51hit on the bison. The beast is defeated,
32:54and Lucy celebrates because she finally
32:56did it. Jean says that he will handle
32:58the report to the guild, and he will ask
33:00them to purchase and transport the
33:02monster. Makoto thinks about how he's
33:04just glad that they managed to make it
33:06work. Just then, Makoto senses that
33:09there's another monster, and it's a
33:11really strong one. The others can't
33:13believe it, and Lucy spots it in the
33:15sky. Makoto is horrified because it's
33:17one of the most dangerous monsters out
33:19there, and it's a griffin. Thanks for
