- 0:27If you are guest 2018, we welcome you to
- 0:32these sacred gatherings, these holy
- 0:35assemblies, this body of believers where
- 0:38we are serious about the spread of the
- 0:40gospel and the multiplying of disciples.
- 0:45to all of our digital disciples watching
- 0:47me live right now across the country and
- 0:49around the world. You are our family. I
- 0:51want you to hear my heart. We love you.
- 0:54We pray for you every week. You mean
- 0:56everything to us.
- 0:59And I just thank you for being a part of
- 1:01this gathering wherever you are.
- 1:03If you're not a follower of Christ, if
- 1:06you're outside of the kingdom,
- 1:09man, I am praying for you that in a
- 1:11moment during prayer or during worship
- 1:14or during the proclamation of God's
- 1:16word, you would you would hear something
- 1:18that would move you from where you are
- 1:20towards the light, from darkness towards
- 1:23the light, from the kingdom of darkness,
- 1:25towards the kingdom of God, that you
- 1:26would come aboard this ark of safety
- 1:29before it's too late. For tomorrow is
- 1:31not promised to you, my brother or my
- 1:33sister. For we make plans for tomorrow
- 1:37and we are not guaranteed to see
- 1:40tomorrow. And so if you're sitting in
- 1:41that first overflow or if you're sitting
- 1:43in that second overflow, if you're in
- 1:45that double overflow, you all the way at
- 1:48the back, I'm talking to you right
- 1:49across this camera. I'm talking to you
- 1:53that today is the day of salvation.
- 1:56Today is the day to repent. Today is the
- 1:59day to trust in Christ with all of your
- 2:00heart. Today is the day to know Jesus as
- 2:04your savior. Today is the day to do
- 2:06that.
- 2:08For you're not even guaranteed to get
- 2:10home when you leave here today.
- 2:15If an accident will take you when you
- 2:17left this building, would you be
- 2:19prepared to meet the savior you don't
- 2:21believe in?
- 2:23I'm talking to you in that double
- 2:25overflow. I'm talking to you in that
- 2:27second overflow. I'm talking to you in
- 2:29this room. I'm talking to you across
- 2:31that camera.
- 2:34Death should awaken us to our mortality.
- 2:39Remind us that we are not finite. We are
- 2:42weak individuals
- 2:45in desperate need of a savior.
- 2:49We are in the last two messages
- 2:52in a series called Entry and End Times.
- 2:56But we are walking through Matthew
- 2:58chapter 21-2
- 3:00together.
- 3:02We are studying the final actions and
- 3:04the final prophetic words of the Lord
- 3:06Jesus Christ. And I want to say to you
- 3:09for the last two times this week and
- 3:11next week,
- 3:13God willing
- 3:15that final words are very important
- 3:19and that they are more important when a
- 3:22person is facing death. And they are no
- 3:24more more important words than the final
- 3:27words of the one we call Lord and
- 3:29Savior. And I feel passionately about
- 3:32these words because of the times that
- 3:34we're living in. And I feel passionately
- 3:36about these words because I want you to
- 3:37do more than just come to church. I want
- 3:41you to hear the words of Christ and I
- 3:43want you to take them serious. I want
- 3:45you to hear the words of Christ and I
- 3:47want you to go home and read and study.
- 3:49I want you to hear the words of Christ
- 3:50and appropriate them in your life. I
- 3:54want for you church to be more than just
- 3:56gatherings. I want it to be something
- 3:58you hear the proclamation of God's word
- 4:00and something in you wants to go out and
- 4:03live out what you hear and lean into
- 4:05what you hear. That we value the words
- 4:08of people more than we value the words
- 4:09of the one who saved us. We put more
- 4:12stock in men than we do the Lord Jesus
- 4:14Christ.
- 4:15>> And I want you to get to a place in your
- 4:17life where you learn to love these
- 4:18scriptures. When you read them for
- 4:21yourself, when you study them, you lean
- 4:23into them. You stop saying, "I can't
- 4:25hear God." But you don't read
- 4:29knowing that all of this book testifies
- 4:32of the Lord Jesus Christ. For we search
- 4:34these scriptures for in them that Jesus
- 4:37said to the Pharisees, you you're trying
- 4:39to find life, but it is them that
- 4:41testify
- 4:43of me. All of it testify of Christ. And
- 4:47I plead for you that you would love
- 4:49Christ more than anything in this life.
- 4:51Man, I shed tears over you this week.
- 4:53And I cried out over you and my children
- 4:55sitting over there that you learn to
- 4:57love Christ more than any person in this
- 4:59life, more than pam,
- 5:02more than your favorite preacher. You
- 5:04would love him and adore him. He will be
- 5:06the object of your worship and your
- 5:07affection. And you would not make idols
- 5:10out of men, but we would worship and
- 5:12deify the one who rescued you. No man
- 5:14did that for you.
- 5:18and that these would not just be sermons
- 5:22but they will be rally cries from our
- 5:24savior to his children.
- 5:27Amen.
- 5:28Our text is coming from Matthew chap 25
- 5:32verse 14-30
- 5:36and the title of our messages don't
- 5:38waste your talents
- 5:43spirit of the living God
- 5:51just minister to us.
- 5:55I pray you would pour into us a hatred
- 5:57for just the depravity and the ugliness
- 6:00of humanity.
- 6:02A hatred for it that would move us
- 6:04towards prayer and tears and brokenness
- 6:08and gospel witness.
- 6:11Let us hear your words proclaimed to us
- 6:14today with humble hearts and open ears.
- 6:18And Lord, you've seen my tears this week
- 6:19and you know my weakness and my
- 6:21frustration. I want to be home.
- 6:25But help me Lord in my weakness to just
- 6:28for the next few moments to share with
- 6:30these the brothers and sisters I love
- 6:32with my whole heart.
- 6:34Give us stamina to listen and our heart
- 6:38to take it serious. I ask in the mighty
- 6:42and the majestic
- 6:44and the matchless name of our Lord and
- 6:46soon cominging King Jesus Christ. Amen
- 6:49and amen and amen.
- 6:53Don't waste uh your talents.
- 7:00Uh uh last night as I was sitting up in
- 7:02bed and just meditating on this text,
- 7:06I was reminded that in 2009 when Lena
- 7:10and I lived in Columbus, Ohio, attending
- 7:12Bible college, I was reminded how my
- 7:16wife was serving in the children's
- 7:18ministry at that church. And I was
- 7:20serving in an outreach ministry that was
- 7:22responsible for going into the inner
- 7:24city of Columbus, Ohio. And we would
- 7:27preach the gospel in the streets and
- 7:28preach the gospel in the projects. We
- 7:31would give out food and we would give
- 7:32out clothing. And there was a particular
- 7:35project in downtown Columbus that we
- 7:37sort of adopted. We have an affinity for
- 7:39this particular projects. And we would
- 7:42go through those projects and knock on
- 7:43doors and go into homes and sit down
- 7:46with junky mothers and sit down with
- 7:48junky fathers. And we would hold crack
- 7:50babies in our arms. And we would sit
- 7:52there and let people blow smoke in our
- 7:54face while we try to teach them about
- 7:56the Lord Jesus Christ. Never judging
- 7:58them for what they did not know, but
- 7:59just loving them and meeting them where
- 8:01they are. And it was during that season
- 8:04that my my my team and I fell in love
- 8:07with a group of teenagers who became
- 8:09very dear to me. I don't know where any
- 8:11of them are today. They are probably in
- 8:14their 20s or 30s now. But but I had a
- 8:16deep affinity for this specific group of
- 8:18teenagers who most of them had no father
- 8:21and and some of them had no mother and
- 8:23they were living in homes that were
- 8:25really ratty and torn and and the only
- 8:27time they felt life is when we would
- 8:28show up each week to just sit with them
- 8:31and love on them and listen to them. And
- 8:33I just want to remind somebody that
- 8:35sometimes children does not spell love g
- 8:37i f t but they spell love t i m e. And
- 8:41what they wanted from us was just time.
- 8:43them and we would just sit there and
- 8:45enjoy them and sit in their presence.
- 8:49And on one occasion when I was leading
- 8:52the evangelistic ministry, the campaign
- 8:54on that day, I took that group of
- 8:56teenagers outside of the projects and we
- 8:59walked towards downtown Columbus and as
- 9:01we walked, we came to a graveyard and I
- 9:04stopped in front of the graveyard and I
- 9:05tapped all of them. I said, "Look out
- 9:07there in that graveyard and tell me what
- 9:08do you see?" And they responded. They
- 9:11said, "Oh, Brother Phillip, we see
- 9:13tombstones." And I said, "Good. What
- 9:15else do you see?" We say, "Brother
- 9:17Phillip, we see memorials." I said,
- 9:19"Good. What else do you see?" They said,
- 9:21"Brother Phillip, we see grass and trees
- 9:24and flowers." I said, "Good. What else
- 9:26do you see?" We see, "Brother Phillip,
- 9:28we don't see anything else." I said,
- 9:30"Are you sure? Look again. Tell me, what
- 9:31do you see?" They said, "Brother
- 9:33Phillip, we don't see anything else."
- 9:35And I will never forget getting those
- 9:37teenagers to focus for just a moment.
- 9:39And I said, "Look out there. Let me tell
- 9:40you what I see. I see unfulfilled
- 9:44potential.
- 9:47I see ministries that were never
- 9:49started.
- 9:51I see books that were never written. I
- 9:54seen marriages that were never formed,
- 9:56children that were never born, visions
- 9:59that were never realized.
- 10:01I seen wasted potential out there in
- 10:04that graveyard. I seen anointings and
- 10:07giftings and callings that people
- 10:10carried with them to the grave. I told
- 10:12them, "Look out there in the graveyard.
- 10:14You see now the wealthiest place on
- 10:16earth. For out there in that graveyard,
- 10:18there are many people who carried with
- 10:20them to their grave. Things that God
- 10:23placed on the inside of them that was
- 10:25supposed to come out of them while they
- 10:26was in this life. And for whatever
- 10:28reason, whether excuses, hard times,
- 10:31challenges, ignorance, they carried with
- 10:33them to their grave
- 10:36the things that God had intended for
- 10:38them to do in this life. And I never
- 10:41forgot that moment.
- 10:43This is a tragedy of modern humanity
- 10:46that there are people dying every day
- 10:48and going to the grave carrying inside
- 10:51of them things that they were supposed
- 10:53to do in this life. This is even a
- 10:56greater tragedy in Christianity of
- 10:59people who talk about callings and talk
- 11:01about giftings and talk about anointings
- 11:04and have all this show of all these
- 11:06things we do. And yet there are
- 11:07Christians leaving this life every week
- 11:09and every day carrying to their grave.
- 11:12Things that the master intended for them
- 11:14to do while they was here, intended for
- 11:16them to accomplish while they was here,
- 11:18intended for them to pour out while they
- 11:20was here. But for whatever reason, they
- 11:23made excuses. They were busy bodies in
- 11:25church, man. They died having gone to
- 11:28the grave with the figurative babies
- 11:30that was inside them they were supposed
- 11:32to give birth to. They aborted those
- 11:34babies for whatever reason. And now they
- 11:37got to give an account to the Messiah
- 11:38for that.
- 11:40This is the tragedy that we approach at
- 11:44the center of our text. The tragedy
- 11:45happening in this room in the overflow
- 11:47in the double overflow. This is what we
- 11:50approach at the center of our text. a
- 11:52very serious passage of scripture. But
- 11:55Christ, you know this, for the final two
- 11:57weeks, has come to the final days of his
- 12:00life. He is just days away from being
- 12:02executed for your sins and for mine.
- 12:06He is on top the Mount of Olives where I
- 12:09was in Jerusalem, just outside of the
- 12:12city walls. And there he's surrounded by
- 12:14his followers. And they're asking him a
- 12:17question at this time. are you going to
- 12:19restore the kingdom back to Israel?
- 12:22They're asking him when will these
- 12:23things be? They're concerned about the
- 12:26coming of his kingdom. They want to
- 12:28overthrow Rome. He begins to prophesied
- 12:30to them about the signs of the end of
- 12:33the age. And I said to you last week, I
- 12:37said to you this week, and I'm going to
- 12:39say to you next week, man, we are seeing
- 12:41the beginning of these things happening
- 12:43right now in our society. Man, I was
- 12:45sitting with my children last night
- 12:47doing our homework because I gave you
- 12:49homework, you know. And I was sitting
- 12:51with my children right over there
- 12:53reading through Revelation 19:20 and 21.
- 12:56I let them read and I taught. They read
- 12:58and I taught. They read and I taught.
- 13:00And I made it aware to them. Do y'all
- 13:02see some of these things in this text?
- 13:04I'm showing them videos on Tik Tok and
- 13:07Instagram. Do you see how some of the
- 13:09things happening in society right now is
- 13:11reading right out of the pages of the
- 13:13scripture and they are shocked eyes wide
- 13:15open. I'm showing them right now about
- 13:17the increase of another great monotheism
- 13:21that has taken over all of the east has
- 13:24taken over all of England. It's starting
- 13:26to take over American cities. I read to
- 13:29them in the text if you did your
- 13:31homework where it said during the
- 13:32tribulation period Christians will be
- 13:34beheaded for the witness of Christ.
- 13:37There's only one type of militia, one
- 13:39type of religion that takes joy in
- 13:41beheading other people. It's why they're
- 13:44the fastest growing religion on the
- 13:45planet. And while we playing church and
- 13:49playing conferences and not paying
- 13:51attention, I was showing my children
- 13:52from social media and the scriptures
- 13:54together how right now we see all the
- 13:57pieces aligning all over the earth. God
- 14:00preparing the world for the coming of
- 14:01the sun. The scripture talks about the
- 14:04alliance between Russia and China. They
- 14:06are hidden in biblical prophecy. I
- 14:09showed my children on social media how
- 14:11the president of Russia was just with
- 14:13the president of China just two weeks
- 14:15ago while people are not paying
- 14:17attention. I talked to my children about
- 14:19the rise of cryptocurrency and the rise
- 14:21of digital currency and the devaluation
- 14:23of paper money. The scripture tells us
- 14:26in the last days there will be one world
- 14:28currency. Can't have one world currency
- 14:30with paper. Yeah,
- 14:33>> that's why we see an increase in digital
- 14:35currency and plastic and cards and tap
- 14:37for get cash. Let's just tap for get
- 14:39cash. Let's have crypto for get cash.
- 14:41Let's have it makes it easier for the
- 14:43antichrist to control the world. And I'm
- 14:45showing my kids from the scriptures and
- 14:47from their phone how God is allowing
- 14:50things right now all over the earth
- 14:52preparing the world for the coming of
- 14:54the sun while you just want a sermon.
- 15:01don't want to live on mission. Don't
- 15:03want to pray like people on mission. You
- 15:05just want a sermon. You want to go to
- 15:07Chick-fil-A and then you want to chill
- 15:09out the rest of the week. You want to
- 15:10Netflix and chill. Never mind God called
- 15:12you to be on mission.
- 15:16And I'm showing them from the scriptures
- 15:18and from social media
- 15:22how the words of God is colliding with
- 15:24the things we see. And there is the Lord
- 15:26prophesying about these end times,
- 15:29prophesying about the return of his. And
- 15:31I'm telling you, we're living in the
- 15:32beginning of these times. Now, we might
- 15:35be the generation that sees the rapture,
- 15:38the tribulation, and the return of
- 15:41Christ, which the Lord said all these
- 15:43things will happen in rapid succession
- 15:44like birth painans. We might be the
- 15:46generation to see all those things. And
- 15:48my question for you is, are you ready?
- 15:55And the Lord prophesies his return. And
- 15:57on the back side of that prophecy, he
- 15:59gives his followers and everybody who
- 16:01will listen three parables, a trilogy of
- 16:04short stories to communicate the
- 16:06seriousness
- 16:08of his second coming. The first one, the
- 16:10parable of the faithful servant and the
- 16:12wicked servant to communicate
- 16:13faithfulness. The second one, the
- 16:15parable of the 10 virgins to communicate
- 16:17some people will be ready and some
- 16:19people will not be ready. And on the
- 16:20heels of that second parable, he gives
- 16:23us this last parable before he will be
- 16:26executed. The parable of the talents.
- 16:28Matthew chapter 25. Matthew who was the
- 16:30eyewitness recorded this passage. He
- 16:32recorded what Jesus said. Verse 14.
- 16:35Jesus continues teaching. He says, "For
- 16:37it will be like
- 16:39a man going on a journey who called his
- 16:43servants and entrusted to them his
- 16:46property." I want to draw your attention
- 16:48to the word it. The word it there is
- 16:51speaking of the kingdom of God. This is
- 16:53a continuation from the parable of last
- 16:55week. He started the parable of the 10
- 16:57virgins by saying the kingdom of heaven
- 16:59will be like 10 virgins. He finishes
- 17:03that teaching. He goes right into the
- 17:04second one. So the kingdom of heaven
- 17:06will also be like a man going in a long
- 17:10journey. The kingdom of heaven, the
- 17:12sphere of God's rule in the earth. And
- 17:14we see in God's rule in the earth, there
- 17:16were virgins who were wise and virgins
- 17:18who were foolish. Because in the sphere
- 17:20of God's rule in the earth, there are
- 17:22people who are truly saved and people
- 17:23who are not truly saved. He goes
- 17:25straight into this one. He says, "The
- 17:27kingdom of heaven, the ending, will also
- 17:29be like a man who went on a long
- 17:30journey, who called his servants and
- 17:33entrusted to them his property." Now, I
- 17:36want to draw your attention to the man
- 17:37in the text. He said, "The man went away
- 17:40on a long journey." The man we see is
- 17:42akin to a type of Christ who also went
- 17:46away on a long journey. The Lord is
- 17:48saying this in the first century AD.
- 17:50He's trying to help his followers
- 17:51understand there will be no overthrow
- 17:53right now in the first century. My
- 17:55brothers, I am about to bounce for a
- 17:57very long time. And what they did not
- 17:59see is what you and I are living in
- 18:01right now. The church age, which has
- 18:03been happening for over 2,25 years. This
- 18:06man has been gone for a very long time.
- 18:09Two millennia this man has been gone.
- 18:11But when the man left, he did not leave
- 18:14his servants empty-handed. No, he
- 18:15entrusted to them his property. I want
- 18:19to draw your attention to the word his
- 18:21property. And the word entrusted. Jesus
- 18:23again reminded his followers. And as I
- 18:26remind you that you and I are stewards
- 18:28of everything that God has given to you,
- 18:31that the earth is the Lord and the
- 18:32fullness thereof. There is no one under
- 18:34the sound of my voice who is a owner of
- 18:36anything but everything under your
- 18:38fingertips you have been given to
- 18:40steward. And I want to say to you again
- 18:43and next week I might say to you again
- 18:45that the most important things you are
- 18:46stewarding write them down. You are
- 18:48stewarding your time,
- 18:51your resources, your opportunities,
- 18:55your assignments, your relationships.
- 18:57These are the five most important things
- 18:59that you are stewarding. You are
- 19:01managing these things for the glory of
- 19:03God. I want you to notice he said his
- 19:06property and his servants because you
- 19:09also are a stewardship your personal
- 19:11life because you belong to the Lord if
- 19:13you are saved. So we are only stewards.
- 19:17We are only managers and your management
- 19:21is a test in this life for what you will
- 19:24enjoy in the life to come. Verse 15. To
- 19:27one he gave five talents, to another two
- 19:32talents,
- 19:33to another one according to his ability.
- 19:38Then the master went away. So I want you
- 19:42to notice that the man did not leave
- 19:43these servants empty-handed. He did not
- 19:46leave them to be idle, but he gave each
- 19:49one of these servants talents plural. To
- 19:53one man, he gave five talents. To
- 19:56another man, he gave two talents. To
- 19:58another man, he gives one talent. Then
- 20:00he bounces and been gone for 2,000
- 20:02years. Now, I want you to notice the
- 20:04talents. Historically, the talents was a
- 20:08sum of money in silver in the first
- 20:10century. It weighed collectively
- 20:12somewhere between 50 and 85 pounds for
- 20:15one talent. One talent was equivalent to
- 20:18some 10 to 20 years of wages. So to give
- 20:21a person five talents is to give them a
- 20:24large sum of money. To give a person two
- 20:27talents is to give them a large sum of
- 20:29money. Shoot. To give a person one
- 20:31talent is to give them a large sum of
- 20:33money. So the first thing the Lord
- 20:34entrusted to these servants was
- 20:36resources. It's the same thing God has
- 20:39entrusted to you and I. One of the most
- 20:41important things God has entrusted to
- 20:43you, listen to me, is resources. I harp
- 20:46on this because this is the only thing
- 20:47that God ever exalted to the status of a
- 20:50God. Lord said that you cannot serve God
- 20:52and money at the same time. So one of
- 20:55the most important things that you are
- 20:56stewarding in this life are resources.
- 20:59God gave it to you. Your check, your
- 21:01job, your businesses, your ministries,
- 21:04all the income that comes into your
- 21:06house is a stewardship in the eyes of
- 21:08God. Now this is very important because
- 21:11this is the one part of your life that
- 21:12is very private. See, people see your
- 21:14post. They see your preaching. They see
- 21:17your podcast. They see your ministry.
- 21:19They see you serving. They see you on
- 21:21the line. They see you as a usher. They
- 21:22see in the room, but they don't see your
- 21:24bank account.
- 21:26And the stewardship of money is very
- 21:27important. Listen to me. Money is a
- 21:30moral. Like a dollar, $20. Let's go
- 21:34higher. $100. I wish somebody just give
- 21:36me $20. Like, like just give me some
- 21:39money.
- 21:42>> Oh, I forgot. Y'all genz's y'all y'all
- 21:44tap
- 21:45money.
- 21:47Oh. Oh. Oh. Come on. You're not getting
- 21:49that back either.
- 21:53Money.
- 21:55Money is immoral.
- 21:57It has no heart, has no eyes, it has no
- 22:01soul, has no thoughts. It has no will.
- 22:03But when it lands in the hands of a
- 22:05human being, it takes on a personality.
- 22:10With this $20, I could go buy groceries
- 22:12and give $5 to the poor and put a dollar
- 22:15in the offering. Or with this $20, I
- 22:17could go get blow and snuff out for the
- 22:19rest of the week. The money has no will
- 22:21of its own. It only has a will when it
- 22:23lands in the hand of a person. Why?
- 22:26Because money reveals what's in the
- 22:27heart.
- 22:30>> If you want to know what's in people's
- 22:31heart, just give them resources. As soon
- 22:34as resources lands in a hand, it reveals
- 22:36what's in the heart. Where the heart is,
- 22:38so your treasure will be
- 22:40>> also.
- 22:42>> So money in and of itself is not evil.
- 22:45People are evil.
- 22:48>> And so if you want to know what's in
- 22:49people's hearts, just put money in their
- 22:50hands. As soon as resources land in a
- 22:52person's heart, we see what's in their
- 22:53hands. We see what's in their heart.
- 22:56>> So the first thing that you are
- 22:57stewarding are resources for the glory
- 22:59God. No, I didn't beat you up for a
- 23:01tithe. I just told you to be a good
- 23:03steward of the resources God has given
- 23:04you. Why? because he's watching how you
- 23:07handle this thing right here is not a
- 23:08god. Although some of you worship it and
- 23:11you bow down to it and you exalt it like
- 23:14an idol in your heart. You hold it so
- 23:16high you afraid to part from it. You're
- 23:19afraid to share it. You're afraid to
- 23:21invest it into the kingdom. This is so
- 23:23temporary. It's going to be gone. You
- 23:24ain't going to be using this in the
- 23:25millennial kingdom. The Lord is just
- 23:27allowing you to manage a little bit of
- 23:29it just to see how good you can handle
- 23:30it. It's crazy to me that some of you
- 23:32will be praying to be a millionaire, but
- 23:34you can't steward a few thousand dollar.
- 23:38[Applause]
- 23:40>> You're praying for God to bless your
- 23:41business, but you can't steward a check.
- 23:45>> You're praying for God to increase your
- 23:46finances, but you can't steward what you
- 23:49have.
- 23:51And so, the first thing he gave them to
- 23:53steward was resources. But I think the
- 23:55parable does not just stop with money. I
- 23:58think the parable is broader than money
- 23:59because of the key word ability which
- 24:02speaks about work and task and
- 24:04assignments. So your talents I believe
- 24:06are not just only resources but your
- 24:08talents are the opportunities God has
- 24:10given you to serve and to have
- 24:12assignments and to do tasks and to carry
- 24:15out functions. So what God has given you
- 24:17is the ability
- 24:20and the responsibility to steward
- 24:22resources, to steward opportunities, to
- 24:26steward assignments. Now pay attention.
- 24:28Watch in the text. We see that there is
- 24:30a tiered system of allocation. To one
- 24:33man he gave five talents. To another man
- 24:35he gave two. To another man he gave one.
- 24:38Watch this. According to their ability.
- 24:41This is very important. This means that
- 24:43for every human being, God has already
- 24:45assigned them a certain level of
- 24:46cognitive ability, a certain level of
- 24:49acumen, a certain level of work ethic,
- 24:51and then he will give them resources and
- 24:53assignment according to their ability.
- 24:56This is the love of God because he's not
- 24:58going to give you something you cannot
- 24:59handle.
- 25:00>> This is very important because too many
- 25:02of us be praying and asking God for
- 25:04things that you don't have the character
- 25:05to handle and you don't have the ability
- 25:07to store it. If God gave it to you, it
- 25:09will hurt you.
- 25:11>> See, I got people around me who are like
- 25:13five talent people. If you give a five
- 25:15talent person a one talent assignment,
- 25:18they're going to be bored and
- 25:19frustrated.
- 25:20If you give a one talent person a five
- 25:22talent assignment, they're going to feel
- 25:24overwhelmed and crushed. God who is very
- 25:27wise is not going to give a five talent
- 25:29person a one talent assignment. And God
- 25:31who's very wise is not going to give a
- 25:33one talent person a five talent
- 25:34assignment. This is why we need to stop
- 25:36being jealous of other people's
- 25:38assignments.
- 25:40>> Come on, man. I'm talking to y'all. This
- 25:43ain't about competition. And this ain't
- 25:45about condemnation or or cond or or
- 25:47being condescending towards somebody.
- 25:49This is you watch having enough personal
- 25:52awareness to embrace whatever level you
- 25:54on and just be faithful on whatever
- 25:57level you're on.
- 25:59>> The Lord is not asking you for more than
- 26:01what you can give.
- 26:04He just wants you to be faithful on what
- 26:05you on. So if Billy Graham is a five
- 26:08talent minister and Philip Anthony
- 26:10Mitchell is a two talent minister and
- 26:12some other man is a one talent minister.
- 26:14Man, am I jealous of Billy? Should I
- 26:15condemn the one talent man? No. I should
- 26:18just be in the middle trying to be
- 26:19faithful to what God has called me to
- 26:21do. There is some man in the country who
- 26:23got 50 people in his church. But he
- 26:25loves his family, loves his children.
- 26:27He's faithful to the Lord Jesus. He
- 26:29prays. He's a good steward. He's not
- 26:31cheating money from the from the He's
- 26:33faithful. Is he any less of a minister
- 26:36than I am?
- 26:39>> Am I any greater of a minister than he
- 26:41is? No. If we're faithful on our level,
- 26:43that's all God wants from us. All God
- 26:45wants for you is for you to be a
- 26:47faithful servant on the level that he's
- 26:49given you. But it's only our brokenness
- 26:52in humanity. Why? That we like to exalt
- 26:54five talent people and make them gods
- 26:57and put down one talent people and make
- 26:59them trash.
- 27:02But why condemn somebody if that's the
- 27:04limit of what God gave them?
- 27:06>> And why exalt a man if that's what God
- 27:08gave them?
- 27:09>> Man, if that person is a five talent,
- 27:11that's God's grace. And if they're one
- 27:12talent, that God's grace. Ours is to be
- 27:14honest about what level we on and just
- 27:17be faithful on our level.
- 27:21I'm trying to, that's all God wants for
- 27:24us to just be faithful on our level. So
- 27:26I don't have to be jealous of a five
- 27:28talent person. All I got to do is be
- 27:30faithful what God has given me.
- 27:35Verse 18.
- 27:37But he who had received
- 27:42well verse 16. He who had received the
- 27:45five talents went out and at once he
- 27:47traded and he made five talents more.
- 27:50And also the one who had two talents
- 27:51made he went out and traded and made two
- 27:53talents more. So I just want you to see
- 27:55that the first two servants immediately
- 27:57went out and they begin to trade. They
- 28:00did not wait. Immediately they went out
- 28:02and they begin to multiply their
- 28:03talents. They did not sit on what God
- 28:06gave them, but they multiplied what God
- 28:08gave them. The man who had five
- 28:09multiplied his talent. The man who had
- 28:11two, he multiplied his talent. They had
- 28:14some sense of purpose, some sense of
- 28:16meaning. They knew God gave them an
- 28:17assignment. And immediately they set out
- 28:19to do that assignment. I just want to
- 28:21draw some attention to you. I want you
- 28:23to draw some attention to some things in
- 28:25the text. I want you to notice the words
- 28:27at once. They did not wait. They
- 28:30recognized that they were saved. They
- 28:31recognized that they were given gifts
- 28:33and talents. Immediately they put their
- 28:34life on the altar. They went out to
- 28:36serve God. The man who had five
- 28:39multiplied. The man who had two
- 28:40multiplied. What does this look like in
- 28:42context? What multiplication looks like
- 28:45in context is you watch using the
- 28:47potential God has given you and
- 28:49maximizing that potential to do
- 28:51everything God has called you to do. So
- 28:53what this look like in context,
- 28:54everybody look right. This is if I've
- 28:56been saved for 5 years or 20 years, I
- 28:58should be a better husband today than I
- 29:00was when God saved me. I should be a
- 29:02better father today than when I was when
- 29:04God saved me. I should be a better
- 29:06steward today than I was when God saved
- 29:08me. I should be a better preacher today
- 29:10than I was when God saved me. If 20
- 29:12years go by and you're still the same
- 29:14person, you are not multiplying your
- 29:16talents. If 20 years go by and you're
- 29:19not a good steward with money, you are
- 29:20not multiplying your talents. But if we
- 29:23would multiply our talents, my brothers
- 29:25and my sisters, that as time goes by,
- 29:27you will show fruit that you're being
- 29:29transformed in different areas. You're
- 29:31becoming a better husband. You're
- 29:33becoming a better wife. You're becoming
- 29:34a better friend. You're becoming a
- 29:36better person who stewards money. You
- 29:38should be growing. And that's how you
- 29:40multiply the things that God has given
- 29:41you. That is, man, you should be more
- 29:43obedient. You should be more faithful.
- 29:46The Lord should be able to look at you
- 29:4720 years down the road and say, "I don't
- 29:49have to fight you when I talk now. Now
- 29:51when I talk, you obey right away. When I
- 29:53first find you, you had to reason for 3
- 29:55months before you carried out anything.
- 29:57But now when I talk to you, you move
- 29:59right away. You don't even need all the
- 30:01answers. You just trust my voice when I
- 30:03speak.
- 30:07[Applause]
- 30:08So if you're becoming better in
- 30:11character, you're becoming more like the
- 30:13person of Christ, you're becoming more
- 30:15obedient, you're becoming more faithful,
- 30:17you're doing the things God has called
- 30:19you to do in your sphere of influence,
- 30:21that is how you multiply your talents.
- 30:23You multiply talents by giving God back
- 30:26something that he has deposited into
- 30:28you.
- 30:30But verse 18,
- 30:33but he who had received the one talent,
- 30:36he went out and he dug in the ground,
- 30:40he buried his master's money.
- 30:43The first two dudes producing what they
- 30:45supposed to. And the Lord doesn't work
- 30:47from the five talent person more than
- 30:48what he gave him. And he doesn't want
- 30:50from the two talent person more than
- 30:52what he gave him. I want to help some of
- 30:53you man who be feeling burdened all the
- 30:55time. You think the Lord wants from you
- 30:56things he did not ask of you. So you
- 30:59crucify yourself all the time. You
- 31:00condemn yourself all the time. You beat
- 31:03yourself all the time. Now look, the
- 31:04Lord, listen, if you're a two talent
- 31:05person, the Lord is not asking you for
- 31:07five talents. He just wants you to
- 31:09multiply what you have. But then we see
- 31:11this last brother right here. Too many
- 31:13of us are like this last brother. You
- 31:15have gifts, you have abilities, you have
- 31:17talents, you have money, you have
- 31:18resources, but you don't use it for the
- 31:20kingdom of God. You're not developing in
- 31:23character. You're not growing as a man
- 31:25and a woman. That's what this brother
- 31:26is. He goes out and he buries his talent
- 31:29in the ground. Now, burying his talent
- 31:31is not uncommon in the first century
- 31:33when banks was embriionic. If people
- 31:35wanted to protect something that was
- 31:37assets, they would dig a hole in the
- 31:38ground, put that thing in the ground,
- 31:40and cover it up and come back and find
- 31:41it later. That's how they protected
- 31:43assets. I just want you look, I just
- 31:46want you to pay attention that the man
- 31:48had to dig a hole in the ground to bury
- 31:50that talent.
- 31:51It takes effort to dig a hole.
- 31:54It is activity to dig a hole. So the
- 31:57brother is busy, but he's not fruitful.
- 32:02>> The brother has activity, but he's not
- 32:05obeying his master. And there's too many
- 32:08of us who are just like this brother. We
- 32:10have all this activity in our life, but
- 32:12we're not fruitful for the kingdom. We
- 32:14are busy bodies, but we're not fruitful
- 32:17bodies. We're running here and there,
- 32:19and we're doing all these things, and
- 32:21we're saying yes to all these people.
- 32:23You're building this over here and
- 32:24you're building that over there and
- 32:25you're running here. You're do you're
- 32:27doing all that stuff. But my question
- 32:28is, are you doing what God has called
- 32:30you to do? Are you doing what God has
- 32:32purposed you to do? You can be busy and
- 32:34not fruitful. You can be full of
- 32:36activities and not fruitful. Some of you
- 32:38are running from conference to
- 32:39conference, but you still have not
- 32:41obeyed the last thing God called you to
- 32:43do. So, I want you to see that this
- 32:45brother dug a hole and he put his
- 32:48resources in the hole. And I'm trying to
- 32:50stop some of you from continuing to do
- 32:51that. In fact, I'm trying to strip you
- 32:53of your shovel. My prayer today is some
- 32:55of you will lay down that shovel that
- 32:57you have that you're always busy doing
- 32:59everything other than the father's
- 33:00business. You got time for everything
- 33:03except the father's business. You're too
- 33:05busy to pray, too busy to read, too busy
- 33:08to fast, too busy to love, too busy for
- 33:10your wife, too busy for your husband,
- 33:12too busy for your children, you're too
- 33:14busy for everything except the word of
- 33:15God. You're too busy for everything
- 33:17except what God called you to do. My
- 33:19brother and my sister, listen to me,
- 33:20man. Give me that shovel,
- 33:22man. Leave that shovel in the room
- 33:24today. Leave it in the overflow. Leave
- 33:27it in the second overflow. Leave it on
- 33:29the couch. I'm talking to those of you
- 33:31who are always active, but you're not
- 33:33fruitful, man. Leave that shovel here
- 33:35today. Lay it down. Take inventory of
- 33:39the things that you're doing. And ask
- 33:40yourself a question. Is this in line
- 33:42with what God has called me to do?
- 33:50Verse 19.
- 33:52Now after a long time, the master of
- 33:55those servants came and he settled
- 33:58accounts with them.
- 34:00This is a picture of the second coming
- 34:02of Christ. I want y'all to notice now
- 34:04because Christ is delayed, that doesn't
- 34:06mean he's not coming. Christ is delayed,
- 34:09but Christ is also coming. When the
- 34:11master comes, look at the first thing
- 34:12that he does. He comes and immediately
- 34:14he settles everyone's accounts. That is
- 34:18nobody is going to escape Christ. The
- 34:21atheist will not escape him. The Muslim
- 34:23will not escape him. The unbeliever will
- 34:26not escape him. The fake Christian will
- 34:28not escape him. When the Lord returns in
- 34:31return, he shall he will settle
- 34:33everyone's accounts. If you did your
- 34:35homework, you would have read that books
- 34:37are going to be open.
- 34:40And in those books, he will look at what
- 34:42everybody has done in this life. And
- 34:43then according to those books, people
- 34:45will either be judged or people will be
- 34:47rewarded. You would have saw that in
- 34:48your homework that when Christ comes,
- 34:51he's coming to give watch a time for
- 34:54everybody to stand before him and then
- 34:56all of us are going to have to give an
- 34:57account for how we manage the things in
- 35:00how did you steward your children? How
- 35:02did you steward your resources? How did
- 35:04you steward your time? How did you
- 35:06steward your opportunities? We will give
- 35:08an account for how we stewarded the
- 35:10things that he gave us in this life.
- 35:12Nobody escapes that account.
- 35:15Verse 20. And he who had received the
- 35:17five talents came forward during the
- 35:18account bringing five talents more and
- 35:20saying, "Master, you delivered to me
- 35:22five talents here. I have made five more
- 35:24talents." His master said to him, "I
- 35:26know you want to hear these words." Well
- 35:29done, good and faithful servant. You
- 35:32have been faithful over a little. I will
- 35:35now set you over much. Enter into the
- 35:38joy of your master. This is what's going
- 35:40to happen at the end. The Lord makes it
- 35:42no darkness for us to know. Verse 22.
- 35:44And he says to the other one who had two
- 35:46talents. He came to him saying, "Master,
- 35:49you delivered to me two talents. Here
- 35:51I've made two more." His master said to
- 35:53him, "Well done, you good and faithful
- 35:55servant. You have been faithful over a
- 35:57little things. I will now set you over
- 35:59much. Enter into the joy of your
- 36:01master."
- 36:02So I I just want you to see from the
- 36:04words of Christ that in the end when we
- 36:06all give an account man some people will
- 36:09be commended for what they have done.
- 36:11These two servants they are ready for
- 36:13their account. They come with excitement
- 36:15in their voice. You could hear it in the
- 36:17text. Master look you gave me five
- 36:19talents I give you back 10. You gave me
- 36:22two I give you back four. We hear in
- 36:24them men who had a sense of assignment a
- 36:27sense of mission. Men who was living on
- 36:29purpose. people who understood that
- 36:30their life mattered would hear in them
- 36:33men who were serious about the time they
- 36:35spent in earth. This is what I want for
- 36:37you. This is what I shed tears for you.
- 36:39I want you to be men and women that live
- 36:41with a sense of purpose, live with a
- 36:43sense of assignment. Live with a sense
- 36:45of mission. I want you to get up in the
- 36:47morning thinking, man, God has anointed
- 36:49me for whatever fill-in-the-blank roles
- 36:51he has given you to be a mother, a
- 36:52father, a minister, a speaker, a
- 36:54teacher, whatever it is. These men are
- 36:57ready for their account. They said,
- 36:59"Lord, look, you made an investment in
- 37:01me. I give you back your investment."
- 37:04This is powerful. This is me being able
- 37:06to stand before the Lord and say, "Lord,
- 37:08you saved a brother from Queens. And
- 37:11look at all of the good that has come
- 37:12out of my life. I messed up a few times.
- 37:15I fell down a few times. I made a few
- 37:18mistakes, but look, there's souls in
- 37:20heaven because of my preaching. Look, my
- 37:22children made it because of my
- 37:23disciplehip. Look, people love you
- 37:25because of my preaching. Look, they love
- 37:26the B." He wants to see our ROI on your
- 37:29salvation.
- 37:33>> He wants to know that when I saved you,
- 37:35I got something out of you on the day of
- 37:37judgment. What the Lord wants to see is
- 37:40that watch, your salvation was not a
- 37:41waste.
- 37:43And he does not have to regret that I
- 37:45saved you from sin. Man, I want to
- 37:47arrive in heaven with the Lord having no
- 37:49regrets. Like, man, that brother, man,
- 37:51he was difficult in the beginning, but
- 37:52man, he cleaned up really good after 20,
- 37:5420 years, man. Man, he really started
- 37:56listening. He really started praying. He
- 37:58was reading. He really started preaching
- 38:00from the Bible, man. He was serious
- 38:02about study. Like, I want the Lord to I
- 38:04want to be able to stand before him and
- 38:05said, "Lord, look, you rescued me. This
- 38:06is what you gave me. I give you back
- 38:08more than what you gave me." I want to
- 38:10be able to do that with joy in my heart.
- 38:13>> And look at the commenation they get.
- 38:15This is the commenation we're living
- 38:16for. Well done,
- 38:19you good and faithful servant.
- 38:22>> I know you got that on your t-shirt. And
- 38:24I just want to remind you, he didn't say
- 38:26that to people just because they were
- 38:27believers.
- 38:28>> Well done, my good and faithful servant
- 38:30is not an empty platitude. Well done, my
- 38:32good and faithful servant was attached
- 38:34to good stewardship.
- 38:36>> And there'll be a lot of believers who
- 38:38might die and arrive in heaven and never
- 38:40really hear that. You hear that at every
- 38:42funeral. We always say, "Man, well done,
- 38:44my good and faithful servant." How are
- 38:45we saying that about somebody in a box
- 38:47that hated Jesus and never went to
- 38:49church?
- 38:50>> The preacher is a liar. Well done my
- 38:53good and faithful servant is for
- 38:54believers who are good stewards in this
- 38:57life. So if you want to hear those words
- 38:59from your savior, you have to start
- 39:01taking serious the stewardship of
- 39:03everything that God has placed under
- 39:04your care. If you will hear from your
- 39:06savior, "Well done, my good and faithful
- 39:08servant. You don't hear that for going
- 39:10to church. You hear that for being a
- 39:12good steward." He says, "Watch. You were
- 39:14faithful over a little. Now I'm going to
- 39:17make you ruler over much." I want you to
- 39:19pay attention to the word little and the
- 39:20word much. He said everything y'all did
- 39:23in this life was little.
- 39:27That means the biggest ministry in this
- 39:29life in the eyes of God little. The
- 39:31biggest fortune in this life in the eyes
- 39:33of God little. He said everything in
- 39:35this life you were just rulers over
- 39:37things that were little.
- 39:39But he says now my coming here I will
- 39:41make you a ruler over much. This is
- 39:44important because I want you to see
- 39:45we're not going to be in heaven floating
- 39:47around on clouds and playing harps all
- 39:49day and being bored. He said to him,
- 39:51"For those who are faithful in this life
- 39:53over little, I'm going to make you ruler
- 39:55over much. That your service in this
- 39:57life is going to translate into a
- 39:58greater service in the next life." Man,
- 40:01man, this ministry 2019 is little in the
- 40:04eyes of God. But I can't even get if if
- 40:06he calls this little, just imagine what
- 40:08I'm going to be ruling over when I come
- 40:10into the into glory with my savior. Man,
- 40:14if you think the things you have now are
- 40:15big, just imagine what you're going to
- 40:17be ruling over when you come into glory
- 40:19with your savior. Man, the things we're
- 40:21stoing right now are small. They're
- 40:22nothing compared to what God is going to
- 40:24give us. Now, the wisdom of Paul makes
- 40:26sense, man. No eye has seen and no ear
- 40:29has heard, nor has it entered into the
- 40:32heart of man, what God has prepared for
- 40:33those of us who love him. Man, the
- 40:35biggest thing you admire in this earth,
- 40:37the biggest ministries, little and not,
- 40:39if these things are little, just imagine
- 40:42what you're going to rule over in
- 40:43eternity. We're not going to be floating
- 40:45on clouds board. No, we're going to have
- 40:47rulership. We'll have assignments. We'll
- 40:49serve God at another capacity. We'll
- 40:51serve him with joy, and we'll be over
- 40:53things much greater than anything that
- 40:55we can imagine.
- 41:00Enter into the joy
- 41:02and the rest of your master is what he
- 41:05said. Come now be rewarded for your
- 41:08labors.
- 41:12Verse 24. But he who had received the
- 41:15one talent came in and said, "Master, I
- 41:17knew you was a hard man, reaping where
- 41:20you did not sow, and gathering where you
- 41:22did not scatter seed. So, I was afraid
- 41:25and I went and I hid your talent in the
- 41:27ground. Here you have what is yours.
- 41:30Family, this is a tragedy right here
- 41:33that I'm trying to protect as many
- 41:35people as possible from being in this
- 41:36position. That there too many people.
- 41:38Look, he appeals to the master with two
- 41:40things. He appeals to the master with an
- 41:42insult and he appeals to the master with
- 41:44a felt need. He's hoping the master is
- 41:46going to feel sorry for him. He tells
- 41:48the master, "I knew you was a hard man,
- 41:50reaping where you have not sewed and
- 41:52harvested where you have not planted."
- 41:53He is accusing the master of taking what
- 41:56does not belong to him. Like the
- 41:57scripture didn't say, "The earth is the
- 41:59Lord and the fullness thereof." He is
- 42:00now arguing with the master based on bad
- 42:03theology.
- 42:04And there are a lot of people, man, who
- 42:06have poor hermeneutics and bad theology.
- 42:09You're going to arrive in glory before
- 42:10God. You're not going to be able to get
- 42:12into glory. And in that moment, you're
- 42:14going to argue with God with bad
- 42:16theology. That's why you should love
- 42:19biblical teaching. That's why you should
- 42:21read the scriptures for yourself so you
- 42:23don't die and come into a place of
- 42:25shock.
- 42:26>> This brother now is shocked. He makes an
- 42:29excuse why he wasn't faithful, why he
- 42:32wasn't fruitful. He makes an excuse. I
- 42:35knew you was a hard man. He insults his
- 42:37master. And then he tried to appeal with
- 42:40some felt need garbage. I was afraid.
- 42:44He he he he said I was afraid. Too many
- 42:47of us are like that. We we paralyze with
- 42:49fear. So because of fear, we don't we
- 42:51don't do anything that God has called us
- 42:52to do. This man said, "I was afraid."
- 42:55And and I just want to remind some of
- 42:56you who deal with fear. I I need to say
- 42:58this before I finish this text. There
- 43:00are some of you, man, you you are
- 43:02waiting for everything to be perfect for
- 43:03you to obey. You're just like this dude.
- 43:05You battling fear. You're not like the
- 43:07two dudes that immediately went out and
- 43:08did what they was called to do. I want
- 43:10to tell you something and you're not
- 43:11going to like it. Some of you you you
- 43:12waiting to be ready before you do what
- 43:14God that it ain't coming.
- 43:17>> You uh we you've been dating for 25
- 43:20years and you said when we get enough
- 43:21money then we're going to get married.
- 43:23It ain't coming.
- 43:25God is calling you to be obedient in
- 43:27some area and you said when I feel ready
- 43:29I'll start the ministry. I'll write the
- 43:31book. You're never going to feel ready.
- 43:33You need to just obey and do it afraid.
- 43:35You need to just be faithful afraid. You
- 43:37need to just jump out on faith and let
- 43:39God catch you. You You waiting for the
- 43:42planets and the stars to align before
- 43:44you choose to be be obedient. Man, I'm
- 43:47telling you right now today, some of you
- 43:48what you're waiting for, it ain't
- 43:50coming. When I started this ministry, I
- 43:52wasn't ready. When I changed the name of
- 43:54the church, I wasn't ready. When I start
- 43:55traveling and preaching, I wasn't ready.
- 43:57Everything I'm doing right now, I had to
- 43:58do it afraid.
- 44:01>> I still get up on Sunday mornings and
- 44:02sometimes feel afraid. I still battle
- 44:04with insecurities. You're never going to
- 44:06feel perfectly ready. What broken human
- 44:08being is going to feel perfectly ready?
- 44:09You need to just do what God is calling
- 44:11you to do with all of your fears and
- 44:12insecurities. Just do it afraid and do
- 44:15it insecure.
- 44:17[Applause]
- 44:20He gives the Lord an excuse.
- 44:24I was afraid. So I went and I I I buried
- 44:28what you here Lord. I I give you back
- 44:30the talent that you gave me. The Lord
- 44:32don't want back the talent he gave you.
- 44:33He want back more than what he gave you.
- 44:39>> And this is too many of us right here.
- 44:42I'm talking to you.
- 44:45This is all this is. It's just it just
- 44:47come here and listen to PAM.
- 44:50but but not going out there and and and
- 44:52and and multiplying your talents, not
- 44:56being intentional about growing as a
- 44:58man, growing as a woman, growing as a
- 45:01disciple, growing in character, growing
- 45:03in faithfulness, growing in obedience,
- 45:06growing in knowledge of God's word,
- 45:08growing in pe where's the intentionality
- 45:10in those areas. The Lord wants to be
- 45:13able to look at you when he calls you
- 45:15home and see that he got something out
- 45:18of your life. I gave you assignments and
- 45:21you carried them out. I whispered to
- 45:23your ear to be obedient in that area and
- 45:25you carried that out. I told you to be a
- 45:28better husband and you took that
- 45:30serious. I called you to be a better
- 45:31wife and you took that serious. I told
- 45:33you to be a better mother or father to
- 45:35these children and you took that
- 45:37serious. I told you to be faithful at
- 45:38your local church and you took that
- 45:40serious. I told you start giving some of
- 45:41your income to missions and to gospel
- 45:44ministries and you took like I want to
- 45:45get something out of your life. The Lord
- 45:48made an investment in you. He put his
- 45:50spirit in you. He wants something out of
- 45:53you. He does not want to look at you at
- 45:55the end and say, "Man, I made a mistake
- 45:57in serving way saving this person." No,
- 46:00man. No.
- 46:02He wants to be able to say, "This woman
- 46:04I saved.
- 46:06This man I saved.
- 46:09Look how much I got out of them. I got
- 46:11songs out of them and albums out of them
- 46:14and sermons out of them. I got a better
- 46:16husband out of them. I got a better
- 46:17father out. Look what I got out of this
- 46:19man. Look what I got out of this woman.
- 46:22Look at all that came out of them. And
- 46:23nobody else saw in them what I saw. I
- 46:26saw something in them. I gave them my
- 46:29spirit. I gave them assignments. I
- 46:31pulled out of them.
- 46:38Not like this brother who buried his
- 46:39talent.
- 46:41Not like this brother who's going to
- 46:42give the Lord wrong theological excuses.
- 46:46The Lord said, "Shoot, if you was going
- 46:47to do that, verse 27, you should have
- 46:49put my money in the bank, which was in
- 46:51Briana, and give me some investment,
- 46:53man. Give me some interest. I mean, give
- 46:54me something back."
- 46:57That's what the Lord was saying. Well,
- 46:58if you going to disobey me half your
- 46:59life, at least give me something back.
- 47:01Give me some ROI for saving you. I
- 47:05didn't save you to just sit in rooms
- 47:07like this and be a churchgoer for 50
- 47:09years, die, and be disobedient. Give me
- 47:11something back for my investment. Give
- 47:14me something back. It's what the Lord
- 47:16has said. Give me something back.
- 47:23And for those of you who think like,
- 47:25[Music]
- 47:27tired of that brother yelling at us, I
- 47:29ain't taking that serious. Yeah. Verse
- 47:3128 and 29 and 30 is for all of you. The
- 47:35Lord says, "For the one who comes in the
- 47:37end, so take that talent from him, that
- 47:41wicked and lazy servant, and give it to
- 47:44the one who has 10 talents. For everyone
- 47:47who has will be given more, and he will
- 47:50have an abundance, but from the one who
- 47:51has not, even what he has will be taken
- 47:54away from him." The Lord says in the
- 47:57end, he will strip every disingenuous
- 47:59servant, every fake Christian, everyone
- 48:01who arrives in glory with an excuse. He
- 48:04said he's going to strip people of all
- 48:05the assignments. He's going to give it
- 48:07to somebody else.
- 48:09Man, this is going to happen in the
- 48:10judgment. I like to think, man, this may
- 48:12even be happening right now. There may
- 48:14be people right now you are living out
- 48:16somebody else's assignment. Maybe there
- 48:18was somebody else the Lord was trying to
- 48:20get to be obedient and they wouldn't be
- 48:22obedient. So, he had to strip them of
- 48:23that assignment and give it to you.
- 48:25Maybe there was somebody else that was
- 48:26supposed to change your family. He
- 48:28stripped them of that assignment and he
- 48:30gave it to you. Maybe you are the man to
- 48:32change the trajectory of your family.
- 48:34Maybe you are the woman to change the
- 48:36trajectory of Some of you may be living
- 48:38in assignments that some other person
- 48:40could not be faithful to, so he gave it
- 48:42to you. Your uncle could not do it, he
- 48:44gave it to you. Your father could not do
- 48:45it, he gave it to you. Your mother could
- 48:47not do it, he gave it to you. Man,
- 48:49people are going to be stripped of
- 48:50things they were supposed to do and it's
- 48:52going to be given to people else. And
- 48:54then those of us who are faithful are
- 48:55just going to have an abundance of God's
- 48:57blessing for our faithfulness. Verse
- 49:0930.
- 49:10And cast that worthless servant into
- 49:13outer darkness.
- 49:15Gosh.
- 49:17And in that place there will be weeping
- 49:20and nashing of teeth.
- 49:23The Lord is saying in the end for those
- 49:26who are going to bury their talent,
- 49:28they're going to be poor stewards of
- 49:29money, poor stewards of opportunities,
- 49:31poor stewards of relationships, poor
- 49:33stewards of assignments, those who are
- 49:35not going to take stewardship serious.
- 49:36Those who are not even really believers,
- 49:38they're going to be exposed in the end
- 49:40when they stand before the Lord and he's
- 49:42going to say, "Take that lazy servant.
- 49:44You didn't give me back what I put in
- 49:45you. Take that. Throw him into outer
- 49:47darkness." And in that place, hell,
- 49:50there will be weeping and nashing of
- 49:51teeth. There will be a consciousness
- 49:54of suffering for not being good
- 49:56stewards. And if we're hearing the voice
- 49:58of our savior, seriously, man, we we we
- 50:01go to our houses tonight. We kneel down.
- 50:03We pray. We say, "Lord, I repent. I'm
- 50:06sorry for every place I've been a
- 50:07mismanager of your resources. Lord, help
- 50:10me to be a good steward over everything
- 50:12you've entrusted to me. Lord, you save
- 50:14me. I want to give you a return on that
- 50:16investment." Here is my cry for you. I
- 50:18want everybody in this room to die
- 50:20empty.
- 50:22>> Look at me. This is what I want as your
- 50:24pastor and as your friend and as your
- 50:26brother. I mean this with my whole
- 50:27heart. I'm praying that everybody under
- 50:30the sound of my voice, you die empty.
- 50:34You arrive in glory not carrying
- 50:36anything that God intended for you to
- 50:39pour out in this life. I want you to
- 50:41arrive before heaven. Say, "Lord, I
- 50:43wrote the book. I made the songs. I did
- 50:47the album. I started the ministry. I did
- 50:50the podcast. I became a man. I'll be
- 50:52looking at Lena. This word to my mother.
- 50:54I'll be looking at I'll be looking at
- 50:56her. I I'll be looking at in bed at
- 50:58night. I roll over and I'll be staring
- 51:00at her saying, "Lord, I want to be a
- 51:01better husband to this woman."
- 51:03>> Amen.
- 51:04>> Man, she's she's put up with a lot.
- 51:06She's been through a lot. She's
- 51:07sacrificed a lot. I've heard her a lot.
- 51:09I'll be staring at her like, "Lord, I
- 51:11want to be a better husband to these
- 51:12women." I'll be looking at my children
- 51:15like, "Man, I missed time with them when
- 51:17I was young and trying to build a
- 51:18ministry. I want to be a better father
- 51:20to them. I want to be available to
- 51:22them." Man, I cut my sermon prep short
- 51:24yesterday to hang out with them and we
- 51:26went to Bart Taco and and and we went to
- 51:28Pon City Market and we was running the
- 51:30streets. I'm not I'm supposed to be in
- 51:32the house on Saturday. I never go out
- 51:34the house on Saturday, but I'm running
- 51:35the streets with them kids because I I'm
- 51:37I'm in there working on my message and
- 51:39and I'm feeling broken. And I said,
- 51:40"Ben," I closed the computer. Said, "I'm
- 51:43going to spend some time with these kids
- 51:44and I text easy." He said, "I'm coming
- 51:46upstairs. I'll take y'all wherever y'all
- 51:48want to go. I do whatever y'all want to
- 51:51do." Said, "Father." That's why I didn't
- 51:53call me father.
- 51:55She don't call me dad no more. Father,
- 51:57we want to go to Bar Taco in the city.
- 52:00We want city. We want vibes.
- 52:04We We want vibes, father. I said, "I'll
- 52:06be up at 3:00. Be ready." And we in the
- 52:09streets
- 52:11on Saturday when I'm supposed to be
- 52:13consecrating and being in the glory for
- 52:15for No, I'm I'm with them. I I want to
- 52:17be I miss time with them when they were
- 52:19young. I want to be a better This is me
- 52:21trying to give God a better return
- 52:24>> on his investment.
- 52:26[Applause]
- 52:33I'm I'm back there before this gathering
- 52:34on my on the floor in the green room
- 52:37crying saying, "Lord, I'm a mess today.
- 52:40I'm all over the place. I'm heavy. I'm
- 52:43frustrated from all the things that
- 52:44happened this week. Lord, I feel like my
