- 0:08what can you tell us about extreme
- 0:10interviewing that is asking candidates
- 0:13very strange questions like what
- 0:15dinosaur would you be
- 0:17okay
- 0:18extreme interviewing is a technique used
- 0:20by recruiters to put the candidate in a
- 0:23situation that they may not have been in
- 0:25before
- 0:26or to
- 0:28put them give them a scenario where they
- 0:30have to think quickly where they have to
- 0:31digest information where they perhaps
- 0:33have to problem solve before giving an
- 0:35answer
- 0:37have you used it yourself
- 0:39it's not something i have direct
- 0:40experience of but i am aware of some of
- 0:42the techniques that are used and some of
- 0:43the questions that could be used
- 0:46i was reading recently about
- 0:49extreme interviewing techniques used for
- 0:50an insurance company
- 0:52they asked candidates to describe if
- 0:56they asked candidates during the
- 0:57interview how they would describe
- 0:59facebook to their grandmother
- 1:02what the recruiter was looking for was
- 1:04for that candidate to display an element
- 1:07of
- 1:09technical skills and technical awareness
- 1:12also to display communication skills and
- 1:14how they would explain facebook to an
- 1:17audience or to somebody who doesn't
- 1:19understand modern technology or modern
- 1:21social media
- 1:23do you have any others one i was reading
- 1:26about recently was poster candidates
- 1:29during an interview
- 1:30where they were looking to assess a
- 1:32candidate's ability to multitask the
- 1:35candidates were asked whether they would
- 1:37want to fight
- 1:39a horse-sized duck or a hundred
- 1:42duck-sized horses
- 1:44depending on the answer one or a hundred
- 1:47that would potentially dictate whether
- 1:49that candidate was most comfortable
- 1:51multitasking or dealing with one
- 1:54situation or one objective at a time
- 1:58what would your answer to that question
- 1:59have been
- 2:02i
- 2:03when i read it i had to reread it four
- 2:05times and that's just me reading it in
- 2:07an interview i would have had to have
- 2:09asked that question to be repeated
- 2:11and i'm not even sure if i would have
- 2:14been able to give an immediate response
- 2:15because i would still be trying to
- 2:17understand what exactly they were asking
- 2:19of me
- 2:20i guess for me personally
- 2:22when i thought about it i would have
- 2:23said one horse sized duck
- 2:27um but that would potentially mean that
- 2:29i'm not able to multitask so
