Full transcript
- 0:00So Gisele, hi.
- 0:01Hi.
- 0:02You were here in 2006.
- 0:04You were single.
- 0:04You had no kids.
- 0:06Nothing.
- 0:06All of a sudden, your whole life has changed.
- 0:09And it happened--
- 0:09Well, 12 years, right?
- 0:10Yeah.
- 0:11I know.
- 0:11But it was right after you were here, you met--
- 0:14I went on a blind date.
- 0:15Yes.
- 0:15And I met my husband.
- 0:16So I think you might have been my lucky good luck charm.
- 0:18I think so.
- 0:19I think so.
- 0:20I think so.
- 0:20Thank you.
- 0:21Yeah, you're welcome.
- 0:2212 years later, I think, I'm very happy with how
- 0:24things turned out.
- 0:25So I appreciate it.
- 0:26Yeah.
- 0:26Well, you're welcome.
- 0:27[APPLAUSE]
- 0:32Oh, yeah.
- 0:32Isn't he sweet?
- 0:34Look.
- 0:34Who comes with that shirt?
- 0:36He is a sweet, sweet man.
- 0:38And talented.
- 0:39Both of you.
- 0:41You're easy on the eyes, both of you.
- 0:43All right.
- 0:44I think he wore that shirt because my dad likes to say
- 0:46a happy life is a happy wife.
- 0:47So I think he took that very seriously.
- 0:49Right.
- 0:49Well, he's right.
- 0:51All right.
- 0:51So you have a wonderful family.
- 0:53Your career is great.
- 0:55And I heard, is this true?
- 0:56That you're thinking of retiring?
- 0:59I think I'm the farthest I've ever been from retiring.
- 1:02It doesn't seem like it.
- 1:03I've never worked so hard in my life, actually.
- 1:05Yeah.
- 1:06But I think I retire only the day I die,
- 1:07because I love working.
- 1:08I love creating.
- 1:09I think that's why we're here, to keep creating and expanding
- 1:13and learning.
- 1:14I agree.
- 1:15So good.
- 1:15So you're not retiring.
- 1:17What I'd like to know is--
- 1:18Are you?
- 1:19No, I'm not.
- 1:20I'd like to know if your husband is.
- 1:22Because I'm a Saints fan, and it would help
- 1:23me tremendously if your husband would retire.
- 1:27You know, I think you should talk with him about that.
- 1:30I haven't been very successful.
- 1:32No.
- 1:32No.
- 1:33Do you want him to retire?
- 1:34I want him to do whatever makes him happy.
- 1:36But maybe if you have a conversation with him.
- 1:39Explain that you love the Saints.
- 1:41Yeah.
- 1:41He might have--
- 1:42And I love them, too.
- 1:43I really do.
- 1:43He's incredible.
- 1:44Is there anything that he's not good at?
- 1:46Because he just seems like he's good at everything.
- 1:51He's not a multi-tasker.
- 1:52He can just do one thing at a time.
- 1:54Oh, really?
- 1:55Yeah.
- 1:55He's good at one thing at time.
- 1:57He's an amazing waffle maker.
- 1:59Oh.
- 1:59Yeah.
- 2:00That's great.
- 2:01He makes great waffles.
- 2:02That's right.
- 2:03The kind that you just literally push that thing down,
- 2:05and it's--?
- 2:06Well, he actually makes the batter.
- 2:08And he jokes with me.
- 2:09He says, I can't give you the secret.
- 2:11Otherwise you won't need me anymore.
- 2:13Oh.
- 2:14He has a secret recipe, which I'm
- 2:17sure there's some package thing involved.
- 2:19But there's other secret recipes.
- 2:21I have never seen him making it because he literally
- 2:23won't let me see it.
- 2:24Because he literally says, you won't need me.
- 2:26And then who is going to--?
- 2:27Yeah.
- 2:28So I say, OK.
- 2:28That's fine.
- 2:29It tastes delicious.
- 2:30I'll keep eating them.
- 2:31Now do you get nervous?
- 2:33I mean, I would just think--
- 2:34you hear so much about everyone, and you see those hits,
- 2:38and they're so hard.
- 2:38And he's the quarterback, so they're going after him.
- 2:42Do you worry about that?
- 2:43I definitely wouldn't want to have his job.
- 2:44That's for sure.
- 2:45Yeah.
- 2:45I stay happy with my job.
- 2:47That's, I think, is definitely something
- 2:50that you get concerned.
- 2:51But he loves it so much.
- 2:52And you gotta let him do what he loves.
- 2:55Well, he's definitely very talented.
- 2:57I'm so glad you wrote this book.
- 2:59And I think it's important for so many people,
- 3:01because you look at someone, and you're beautiful,
- 3:04and you've got an amazing marriage and kids,
- 3:06and your family life is great, and career life is great.
- 3:10And people don't know.
- 3:11We just tend to judge just from what we see,
- 3:13and we just assume we know somebody.
- 3:16And I think it's so important that you share with everyone
- 3:19what you've gone through.
- 3:20Yeah.
- 3:21So explain some of the things that you share,
- 3:25and why you decided to.
- 3:27So there was lots of different people that I
- 3:31knew well, and also acquaintances,
- 3:33that would come to me and share stories of people
- 3:35that they knew that were struggling
- 3:36with various different things.
- 3:38And I started writing letters to people that I've never met,
- 3:41just by sharing something.
- 3:43I just didn't want them to feel alone, because it was--
- 3:47I feel like I'm very sensitive.
- 3:49So when people are telling the stories, I was feeling better.
- 3:52And I just wanted to make them feel better.
- 3:53So I start sharing, writing letters to people,
- 3:56and sharing some of the challenges that I face,
- 3:58and just being very vulnerable and saying
- 4:00there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
- 4:02Because I know when you're in the middle of the storm,
- 4:04sometimes you don't see there is a light
- 4:06in the end of the tunnel.
- 4:07You identify with that, and that kind of
- 4:09gets you down deeper into the space
- 4:12where it's hard to sometimes feel like there's a way out.
- 4:15So it was very helpful, the feedback I got,
- 4:18that it was really helpful to those people.
- 4:20And I thought, I just want to be able to share.
- 4:23And maybe other people out there might find it helpful.
- 4:28So that was really the intention of the book.
- 4:30It's a beautiful book.
- 4:32And for you to share that you almost took your life, there
- 4:36a lot of people that are going to relate to that
- 4:38and say, wow, if she was at that place
- 4:40that you thought about ending your life, then, you know--
- 4:44And there were so many different things
- 4:46that I found that were helpful throughout my journey.
- 4:48And I just wanted to share that with people.
- 4:50It is.
- 4:50It's very helpful.
- 4:52It's called Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.
- 4:54It's available in bookstores and on Amazon Now.
- 4:56We'll be right back.
