2. 0:02the criminal fraud trial of Theo's
3. 0:03founder Elizabeth Holmes she faces
4. 0:06cross-examination one day after
5. 0:08emotional testimony about being raped at
6. 0:10Stanford then abused by her former
7. 0:12boyfriend who is also Theos Chief
8. 0:14Operating Officer today in the base
9. 0:16Chris Sanchez joins us live at the
10. 0:18courthouse this morning in San Jose to
11. 0:20explain what all of this has to do with
12. 0:21those fraud charges that she's facing
13. 0:25Chris well hi there Laura so this case
14. 0:27has been a very high interest all along
15. 0:30but just to give you an indication about
16. 0:31today this line of reporters and other
17. 0:34uh members of the public waiting to get
18. 0:36in was about 30 people deep at 4:00 in
19. 0:39the morning and the line has continued
20. 0:41to grow uh Elizabeth Holmes's Al
21. 0:44allegations were deeply personal but
22. 0:46we'll have to see today how those
23. 0:48allegations of rape at Stanford and
24. 0:50abuse at the hands of her ex-boyfriend
25. 0:53play into those accusations of fed of
26. 0:56fraud those those Federal claims now
27. 0:59during her day on the stand Elizabeth
28. 1:01Holmes testified that she was raped at
29. 1:03Stanford at age 19 claiming that was the
30. 1:05real reason that she dropped out of
31. 1:07school she also testified that focusing
32. 1:09on starting her own company was the way
33. 1:11that she coped with that trauma and that
34. 1:14her relationship with fellow Theos
35. 1:15executive Sunny balwani was fraught with
36. 1:18abuse that he was physically and
37. 1:20verbally abusive that he controlled her
38. 1:22sleep and even her food and told her she
39. 1:24was mediocre and needed to work harder
40. 1:26Holmes told the jury that she was
41. 1:28responsible for what happened Theos but
42. 1:31that she was under extreme pressure from
43. 1:34bani it's very compelling testimony that
44. 1:37uh she's told us that bani has been
45. 1:39abusive verbally berating her and
46. 1:42controlling her and um telling her how
47. 1:44to live her life and uh was forcing she
48. 1:48did talk about that she was um forced to
49. 1:50have sex with
50. 1:54them Al B wani goes to trial on the same
51. 1:57charges next year and has previous ly
52. 2:00called Holmes's abuse accusations untrue
53. 2:03now the questioning that she faced was
54. 2:05at the hands of her own attorney
55. 2:07yesterday today this is
56. 2:09cross-examination and we expect that
57. 2:10things could get a little bit more
58. 2:12heated uh our colleague Scott budman is
59. 2:14actually in line right there he will be
60. 2:17in the courtroom later on this morning
61. 2:19and we'll be getting details from inside
