9. 0:21at that former lab director on
10. 0:24cross-examination and they tried to
11. 0:26place the blame on him
12. 0:27for all of theranos's failures
13. 0:32dr adam rosendorff continued detailing
14. 0:34failure after failure inside the
15. 0:37theronos labs from the witness stand
16. 0:39tuesday but after testifying for the
17. 0:41prosecution he was put in the middle of
18. 0:43the defense's crosshairs the lab
19. 0:46director is the centerpiece for the
20. 0:48prosecution ktvu legal analyst michael
21. 0:51cardoza said much of the case will
22. 0:53likely rest on his testimony the defense
23. 0:56is doing exactly what they should do and
24. 0:58that's to focus the spotlight on him and
25. 1:02say that elizabeth holmes was not
26. 1:04educated medically under federal
27. 1:07regulations it's the lab director's
28. 1:09responsibility to make sure tests are
29. 1:11accurate and reliable rosendorf conceded
30. 1:14that holmes has no science or medical
31. 1:17training and he was the one in charge of
32. 1:19making sure tests were working but
33. 1:21rosendorf testified that he had concerns
34. 1:23about numerous tests and brought them up
35. 1:26to homes elizabeth holmes knew that
36. 1:28these blood tests were failing but even
37. 1:32after hearing his warnings holmes and
38. 1:34co-defendant sonny balwani had a text
39. 1:37conversation about raising hundreds of
40. 1:39millions of dollars in investment
41. 1:40capital from members of the walton
42. 1:43family and rupert murdoch in one
43. 1:45conversation holmes said just finished
44. 1:48calls alice walton in for 50 confirmed

82. 3:17development and the reason that kerry
83. 3:19roo was able to confirm that his
84. 3:20confidential source was rosendorff is
85. 3:23because rosendorff admitted it himself
86. 3:25on the witness stand after detailing all
87. 3:28these problems with theranos saying that
88. 3:30he went to elizabeth holmes and sonny
89. 3:31balwani about the issues and ultimately
90. 3:34quitting and finding a new job in late
91. 3:372014 he testified that he was contacted
92. 3:41by a wall street journal journal
93. 3:43reporter and he talked to him off the
94. 3:45record for a substantial period of time
95. 3:47now we know already that some of the
96. 3:49other whistleblowers in this case talked
97. 3:51to kiriru we heard from erica chung
98. 3:53earlier on in this trial but the lab
99. 3:56director here was such an important
100. 3:58witness because he was in charge of
101. 4:00those testing labs and watched firsthand
102. 4:03as all of these various tests were
103. 4:04failing yeah he also went on to say that
104. 4:08he's the only reason he was able to
105. 4:09break open the story he said hats off to
106. 4:12his courage and integrity he's one of
107. 4:14the real heroes of this story are we
108. 4:17going to see anyone like him taking the
109. 4:19stand in the future testifying against
110. 4:21their nose
111. 4:25well there's a couple high profile names
112. 4:27that are on the witness list
113. 4:29henry kissinger for example
114. 4:31but
115. 4:32there isn't really somebody who has as
116. 4:35intimate knowledge of the failures that
117. 4:38were going on in the testing lab and not
118. 4:40only the knowledge but who was in there
119. 4:42at the key moments rosendorf was there
120. 4:45shortly before theronos launched at
121. 4:47walgreens locations in arizona and
122. 4:49california and he was there to see as
123. 4:52physicians called as patients called
124. 4:55saying that these tests are not accurate
125. 4:57there's a problem here
