  1. 0:00Hey Welcome Back Designers, Today We are Going To Talk About Basic Element Of Design "Space"
  2. 0:05What is Space? If You Enter A Room, That Room Has Some Length, Height & Bredth
  3. 0:11Multiply Them Together gives volume & That is Basically called Space.
  4. 0:15Interior designer Plays A Major Role In Utilising Space.
  5. 0:20How Will You Place The Furniture? All Of this has be thought Very Carefully.
  6. 0:24If Room Has Good Length, Then It Has To Be managed according to length Only.
  7. 0:29So It will Contain More Of Horizontal Elements.
  8. 0:30If A space Has Great Height & Lesser length, Like 12-13 feet High Celling
  9. 0:35So we will design the space vertically. May be we will use Bunk Beds.
  10. 0:38An Interior Designer has to take care of all of these things.
  11. 0:42Space Is Basically of Two Types, 1. positive 2. Negative space.
  12. 0:47Positive space is wherever something is placed.
  13. 0:50That may be a table, Rug, furniture piece, dark color Paint & may be a pattern as well.
  14. 0:57Basically anything that is noticeable is called Positive Space.
  15. 1:05Negative space is Any reflective Surface
  16. 1:08May be a plane wall, Glass, Light colored paint on walls
  17. 1:18First Thing on which Positive & Negative Space Depends is Technical Dimentions.
  18. 1:23What's the work of that space!
  19. 1:26Suppose You Are Designing a living room the its obvious that positive space will dominate because its a place to sit.
  20. 1:31But If a space is going to be used for Pas sage Then Negative Space Needs to Dominate
  21. 1:35If you place a furniture piece in the passage which will create Positive space, It will create Problem And may hurt you while walking.
  22. 1:40So Positive & negative space is depends on all these things.
  23. 1:44One More Thing That Decides Positive & Negative Space is Your Design Style.
  24. 1:48Some Styles Like Contemporary & Minimalist Style, These styles Requires More Negative Space Than Positive.
  25. 1:58On the other hand there are styles like bohemian, traditional Style, Indian style
  26. 2:02They Dominate With accessories, Furniture & Colours
  27. 2:06That's why they have more positive space
  28. 2:08So Which Style You Want, What You Dictate through Your Design & what's the theme of space
  29. 2:12all of these things decides Positive & negative space.
  30. 2:17so whenever you are deciding it,
  31. 2:19don't use any of them in excess,
  32. 2:21like if the ratio is 50-50, then it is fine,
  33. 2:2560-40 ratio is also fine,
  34. 2:30percentage upto 65-35 is also fine,
  35. 2:34but if negative space is 0 and else space is positive,
  36. 2:38then you will find the space cluttered,
  37. 2:41It will not look like a designed space, it will look like it is just kept,
  38. 2:45and if you only design the negative space,
  39. 2:47then it will also not look like a designed space but an empty space,
  40. 2:50so you have to take care of these things,
  41. 2:53you need to balance them,
  42. 2:55so that was it for space,
