  1. 0:00Have you ever wondered what the
  2. 0:02difference is between electricity and
  3. 0:04electronics? At first glance, they
  4. 0:07might seem the same. Both work with
  5. 0:10voltage, current, energy, and
  6. 0:12electrical circuits. So, what really
  7. 0:16sets them apart? To start, let's think
  8. 0:20about something very simple. A lamp.
  9. 0:24When we plug a lamp into the power grid
  10. 0:26, we use energy to produce light.
  11. 0:29Something similar happens when we run a
  12. 0:31motor. Electrical energy is transformed
  13. 0:35into movement. In these cases, one of
  14. 0:39the main objectives is to transport,
  15. 0:41distribute, and use electrical energy
  16. 0:44to produce a physical effect. For
  17. 0:48example, the lamp transforms electrical
  18. 0:50energy mainly into light, and the
  19. 0:52electric motor receives electrical
  20. 0:54energy and transforms it into movement.
  21. 0:57But now let's think of something
  22. 0:58different. A cell phone also uses
  23. 1:02electricity; it has a battery, current
  24. 1:05flows through it, and there are
  25. 1:06different voltage levels inside the
  26. 1:08device. However, electricity here is
  27. 1:14not only used to power the equipment,
  28. 1:17it is also used to represent and
  29. 1:18process information. A sensor can
  30. 1:25convert a physical quantity like
  31. 1:26temperature, pressure, or light into an
  32. 1:29electrical signal. Then, different
  33. 1:39circuits can modify that signal,
  34. 1:41amplify it, filter it, or use it to
  35. 1:43make a decision. This is where
  36. 1:49electronics comes in. We can say then
  37. 1:58that electronics uses electrical
  38. 2:00devices and circuits, especially
  39. 2:02semiconductor devices, to control,
  40. 2:05transform, amplify, switch, or process
  41. 2:07signals and energy. For example, a
  42. 2:16transformer can modify a voltage, a
  43. 2:19switch can control current flow, and a
  44. 2:21drive can control a motor's speed.
  45. 2:28Therefore, we cannot simply say that
  46. 2:30electricity controls energy and
  47. 2:32electronics controls signals. The
  48. 2:36difference is deeper. In electronics,
  49. 2:41components like diodes, transistors,
  50. 2:43and integrated circuits are used to
  51. 2:45perform functions that allow for signal
  52. 2:48processing, system control, and, in
  53. 2:50some cases, handling large amounts of
  54. 2:52energy. In fact, there is an area
  55. 2:59called power electronics, where
  56. 3:01electronic devices control motors,
  57. 3:03power supplies, electric vehicles, and
  58. 3:06other high-power systems. That is why
  59. 3:12electricity and electronics are not
  60. 3:14separate worlds. We can look at it this
  61. 3:17way. Electricity provides and utilizes
  62. 3:21electrical phenomena. Electronics uses
  63. 3:25those same phenomena through
  64. 3:27specialized devices to perform control
  65. 3:29and processing functions. T
