- 0:00When Neo first met the Oracle, he
- 0:02probably expected to find something
- 0:04completely different: a strange entity
- 0:06capable of seeing the future, or
- 0:08perhaps a program with a divine
- 0:09appearance. But when he finally walked
- 0:13through that door, he found a lady
- 0:15baking cookies. And for a good part of
- 0:18the first movie, that is practically
- 0:20all we know about her. We know that
- 0:23Morpheus and Trinity trust her words
- 0:25blindly, and that people from Zion
- 0:27constantly risk their lives to visit
- 0:29her. And that she apparently knows
- 0:32things that haven't even happened yet.
- 0:35But two movies later, Neo discovers
- 0:37something that completely changes how
- 0:39we understand this character. The
- 0:42Oracle didn't just know the Matrix; she
- 0:44was one of the reasons the Matrix
- 0:46managed to work in the first place. The
- 0:49Architect could build entire worlds,
- 0:52cities, program physical laws, and
- 0:54virtually every detail of that
- 0:56simulation. But there was one thing he
- 0:59couldn't quite understand: human beings
- 1:01. After failing time and again to build
- 1:06a prison that our minds would accept,
- 1:08the machines finally decided to create
- 1:10a completely different program, one
- 1:13designed specifically to understand
- 1:15what the Architect could not, and that
- 1:17program would end up being known as the
- 1:20Oracle. Perhaps the most important
- 1:23program in the entire history of the
- 1:25simulation, whose full story I will
- 1:28tell you today. So get comfortable,
- 1:30grab your favorite snack, and enjoy. To
- 1:34discover who the Oracle really was, we
- 1:36have to go back long before Neo, to a
- 1:38time when the Matrix still didn't know
- 1:41how to keep us asleep. The Architect
- 1:44had received an apparently simple task:
- 1:46to build a virtual world where billions
- 1:49of humans could stay connected without
- 1:51knowing they were being used by the
- 1:53machines as batteries. And his first
- 1:56solution was completely logical. If
- 1:59humans suffered because the world was
- 2:01imperfect, then the imperfection had to
- 2:03be eliminated. Thus, the first Matrix
- 2:05was born, designed practically as a
- 2:07paradise. A world without suffering,
- 2:10without injustice, without tragedies,
- 2:12and without many of the things that
- 2:14normally make human life difficult.
- 2:16From the Architect's perspective, it
- 2:18should have been perfect, and precisely
- 2:21for that reason, it failed. People
- 2:24rejected that world because their minds
- 2:26couldn't accept a reality where
- 2:27everything was ideal. So the Architect
- 2:31tried again, and this time he built a
- 2:33simulation much more similar to our
- 2:35history, with conflicts, violence,
- 2:38problems, and contradictions. But this
- 2:41one didn't work either because there
- 2:43was something within the human mind
- 2:45that his equations were failing to
- 2:47reproduce, and for that reason, the
- 2:49machines created another type of
- 2:50program. One whose job consisted of
- 2:54studying human psychology and
- 2:56understanding how we think, why we
- 2:58accept certain things, and why we
- 2:59reject others. That program was the
- 3:03Oracle and eventually that program
- 3:06found the missing piece and that piece
- 3:09was choice. The problem wasn't simply
- 3:11whether the Matrix was pleasant or not.
- 3:14The human mind needed to feel that it
- 3:17had somehow chosen that reality. It
- 3:20didn't even have to be a completely
- 3:22conscious decision. That choice could
- 3:25be found on a much deeper, almost
- 3:27imperceptible level, but it had to
- 3:29exist. When that choice was introduced,
- 3:33everything changed. As the Architect
- 3:36would explain centuries later,
- 3:37approximately 99%of people accepted the
- 3:39Matrix as long as that possibility of
- 3:41choice existed. And for the first time,
- 3:45the machines had a simulation stable
- 3:48enough to keep practically all of
- 3:50humanity connected. But the solution
- 3:53was not perfect. There still existed a
- 3:56small percentage of people who rejected
- 3:58the Matrix, people who felt that
- 4:00something was wrong and that this world
- 4:02could not be real. And some of those
- 4:05people eventually managed to wake up.
- 4:07They were found and freed. And little
- 4:10by little something appeared that the
- 4:12machines probably hadn't expected, a
- 4:14resistance. Those humans ended up
- 4:17gathering in Zion and over time, within
- 4:19that resistance, a story began to
- 4:22circulate. The prophecy of a man
- 4:24capable of controlling the Matrix like
- 4:26no one else. An anomaly born within the
- 4:29simulation, but with the power to
- 4:31modify it, bend its rules at will, and
- 4:33one day free humanity. And that was the
- 4:37One. What the inhabitants of Zion
- 4:39didn't know was that this phenomenon
- 4:41wasn't outside the machines '
- 4:43calculations either. The choice that
- 4:46had allowed for stabilizing the Matrix
- 4:48had caused an anomaly within the system
- 4:51itself, and that anomaly ended up
- 4:53concentrating in an individual known as
- 4:55the One. And as efficient as ever, the
- 4:59machines found a way to use him. Over
- 5:02time, the One would reach the Source
- 5:04and there he would face a decision. The
- 5:08anomaly he carried within could be
- 5:10reintegrated into the system, and in
- 5:12that way, the Matrix would be reset and
- 5:14Zion destroyed, to then select a small
- 5:16group of 23 humans to rebuild it, 16
- 5:18women and seven men. And so everything
- 5:23would begin again: a new action, a new
- 5:25resistance, another One, and then
- 5:28another reset. When Neo eventually
- 5:31discovers the truth, he understands
- 5:33that this had already happened five
- 5:34times and he would be the sixth. But
- 5:38long before Neo was born, the Oracle
- 5:40had already become a known presence
- 5:42among the humans who escaped the Matrix
- 5:44, having practically accompanied many
- 5:46people since the very beginning of the
- 5:48simulation, guiding them and giving
- 5:50them answers. And one of those people
- 5:54was Morpheus, to whom the Oracle said
- 5:56something that would end up defining
- 5:57practically his entire life. He would
- 6:01find the One. From that moment on,
- 6:04Morpheus began searching for him and
- 6:06spent years freeing people. He followed
- 6:08leads, risked his ship, and even lost
- 6:11comrades along the way. And while many
- 6:14inhabitants of Zion began to think that
- 6:16perhaps the prophecy was just a story,
- 6:18Morpheus kept believing because the
- 6:20Oracle had told him so. For her part,
- 6:24our dear Trinity also reached her and
- 6:26also received a prediction saying that
- 6:29one day she would fall in love, and the
- 6:32man she loved would be the One. Neither
- 6:35of them knew yet that both predictions
- 6:37would end up leading to the same person
- 6:39. Thomas Anderson, or as we better know
- 6:42him, Neo. When Morpheus finally finds
- 6:45Neo and manages to wake him up, the
- 6:46first thing he needs to know is if
- 6:48everything he has believed for years is
- 6:50true. So he takes Neo to see the Oracle
- 6:54, and as expected, there she is in her
- 6:56kitchen baking cookies. The meeting
- 7:00begins in a strange way. The Oracle
- 7:02tells him, "Don't worry about the vase.
- 7:04" Neo doesn't understand at first, so
- 7:07he asks, "What vase?" But as he does,
- 7:09he turns and breaks it. She simply
- 7:12smiles and immediately leaves a
- 7:14question hanging. "Would you have
- 7:16broken it if I hadn't said anything?"
- 7:18It seems like a small joke, but this is
- 7:20practically a demonstration of
- 7:22everything the Oracle was created to
- 7:24study. Cause, consequence, knowledge,
- 7:28and choice. Then she examines Neo, and
- 7:31he finally asks what he had come for.
- 7:34Is he the One? The Oracle does not
- 7:37answer him as he probably expected. She
- 7:39tells him he seems to have the gift,
- 7:41but maybe he's waiting for something,
- 7:43another life perhaps. And Neo ends up
- 7:45interpreting it as a confirmation of
- 7:48what he already believed: that Morpheus
- 7:50was wrong and that he is not the One.
- 7:53But before he leaves, the Oracle
- 7:54reveals something else to him. Very
- 7:57soon, he will have to make a decision.
- 7:59Morpheus is going to put his life in
- 8:01danger for him, and when that happens,
- 8:03Neo will have to choose between
- 8:04Morpheus's life and his own. But one
- 8:07thing is certain. One of the two will
- 8:10die. Then the Oracle gives him a cookie
- 8:13and nothing else. She doesn't try to
- 8:15explain how to become the One, nor does
- 8:17she give him instructions. She simply
- 8:19places a decision before him, and that
- 8:22decision comes very soon. Cypher
- 8:25betrays the crew. Morpheus is captured
- 8:28by the agents, and Smith tries to
- 8:29obtain the access codes to Zion. Tank
- 8:31wants to disconnect him, but Neo
- 8:33refuses because he understands
- 8:34something. Morpheus is willing to die,
- 8:37convinced that Neo is the One. But Neo
- 8:39believes he knows that's not true, so
- 8:41he decides to return to the Matrix.
- 8:43Trinity accompanies him and they both
- 8:45attack the building. They manage to
- 8:47free Morpheus and during their escape,
- 8:49Neo ends up alone facing Agent Smith.
- 8:51For the first time, he decides not to
- 8:53run, so he fights him, but he still
- 8:55cannot defeat him. Smith finally shoots
- 8:58him several times and Neo dies. In the
- 9:00real world, Trinity watches his body
- 9:02and remembers what the Oracle had told
- 9:04her. She would fall in love with the
- 9:07One, and Trinity knows she loves Neo,
- 9:10so for her, there is an impossible
- 9:12contradiction. If the prophecy was true
- 9:15, Neo could not be dead. So she kisses
- 9:18him and Neo gets back up. But something
- 9:21has changed. Now he sees the Matrix in
- 9:24a completely different way. He no
- 9:26longer just sees walls or people. Now
- 9:28he is able to see the Matrix code, so
- 9:30he stops the agents' bullets as if they
- 9:33were nothing. Smith tries to face him,
- 9:36but Neo enters his body directly and
- 9:38destroys him from within. For the first
- 9:42time, Neo has truly become what
- 9:43Morpheus always believed he was: the
- 9:45One. Eventually, the Oracle calls for
- 9:49him again. But their second
- 9:51conversation is completely different.
- 9:54Neo is no longer a man who just accepts
- 9:56everything he is told, and he has
- 9:57started to be suspicious. So when he
- 10:00meets her again, he asks her a direct
- 10:02question. Are you human? She answers
- 10:05that she is not. The Oracle admits she
- 10:07is a program created by the machines,
- 10:09and naturally, Neo starts to doubt her.
- 10:12If she is a program, how does he know
- 10:13she doesn't work for them? How can he
- 10:16be sure that all of this isn't just
- 10:18another form of control? The Oracle
- 10:21does not try to prove she is good; she
- 10:23simply tells him that he will have to
- 10:25decide, that he can accept what she
- 10:27says or reject it. And then she starts
- 10:30to explain something about the Matrix
- 10:31that he does not yet understand. The
- 10:34simulation is full of programs, far
- 10:37more than humans imagine, and there is
- 10:41one of them that Neo needs to find: the
- 10:45Keymaker. A program capable of creating
- 10:49keys for internal system doors because
- 10:51there is a specific door Neo needs to
- 10:54reach, and that door leads to the
- 10:56Source. The problem is that the
- 10:59Keymaker is a prisoner, and his captor
- 11:01is someone we know very well: the
- 11:03Merovingian, whose full story I already
- 11:05have a video about on the channel if
- 11:07you'd like to watch it. Neo, Morpheus,
- 11:10and Trinity finally reach him, and when
- 11:12Neo asks for the Keymaker, the
- 11:13Merovingian immediately understands who
- 11:16sent them. The Oracle. The Merovingian
- 11:19refuses, and before sending them away,
- 11:21he leaves a warning. Tell the Oracle
- 11:23her time is almost up. But for now, Neo
- 11:27has bigger problems. We know well what
- 11:29happens next. Neo manages to free the
- 11:32Key Maker and reaches a massive white
- 11:34door. So he goes through it, and there
- 11:37he finally finds the Architect. For the
- 11:40first time, Neo meets the program
- 11:41responsible for designing the entire
- 11:43Matrix. And that is where the man
- 11:46explains everything about the previous
- 11:48versions, his failures, the anomaly,
- 11:51and all the previous Ones. Then he
- 11:53mentions the program that managed to
- 11:55solve the problem he could never fix.
- 11:58An intuitive program created to study
- 12:01certain aspects of human psychology,
- 12:03and Neo immediately understands he is
- 12:05talking about the Oracle. To grasp the
- 12:08importance the Oracle has in the full
- 12:10history of the Matrix, we have to pay
- 12:12attention to a specific phrase from the
- 12:14Architect. If he is the father of the
- 12:18Matrix, she would undoubtedly be its
- 12:21mother. This is where we realize for
- 12:23the first time the true magnitude of
- 12:25the character who had spent two movies
- 12:27baking cookies in a small apartment. In
- 12:29this part, Neo also discovers something
- 12:32much more important. The Oracle knew
- 12:34about that cycle. She knew what
- 12:37happened when a One appeared, what
- 12:39awaited Zion, and she knew that five
- 12:41men before Neo had ended up making
- 12:43exactly the choice the system needed.
- 12:46But Neo was going to do something
- 12:48different. The Architect shows him two
- 12:50doors, and one leads to the Source. If
- 12:52Neo enters it, the Matrix will be
- 12:54rebooted and Zion will be destroyed.
- 12:57The other door leads to Trinity. Even
- 12:59though he chooses to go through it, he
- 13:01risks the continuity of the entire
- 13:03system. The previous Ones had developed
- 13:05a relationship with humanity in general
- 13:08, and their need to save it was
- 13:09practically abstract. But not Neo. His
- 13:13bond is focused on just one person:
- 13:16Trinity. And for the first time, a One
- 13:19rejects the predicted path. The cycle
- 13:22that had worked for generations begins
- 13:24to break, but helping Neo would come at
- 13:26a price for the Oracle. The Merovingian
- 13:29had already warned that her time was
- 13:31coming, and the video game Enter the
- 13:33Matrix lets us understand what he meant
- 13:35. When Niobe and Ghost meet the Oracle
- 13:38again, they discover she has a
- 13:40different face. Within the story, it is
- 13:43not just a change of actress, though
- 13:45sadly in real life that was the case
- 13:48due to the passing of Gloria Foster.
- 13:52Programs within the Matrix possess a
- 13:54kind of digital body, a shell, or as we
- 13:56might better understand it, an avatar,
- 13:59which is the form through which they
- 14:01appear within the simulation, and it
- 14:03turns out the Merovingian had obtained
- 14:06something extremely dangerous: the code
- 14:08capable of ending the Oracle's original
- 14:11avatar. Two programs she knew delivered
- 14:14that code, and they did it to save
- 14:16their daughter. Two characters we meet
- 14:20shortly after, Rama-Kandra and Kamala,
- 14:22the parents of little Sati. Rama-Kandra
- 14:26was a program related to the recycling
- 14:28systems of the machines 'power plants.
- 14:31Kamala, for her part, worked as
- 14:33interactive software, and both had
- 14:35functions, but their daughter did not.
- 14:39Sati had been created by them simply
- 14:40because they loved each other and
- 14:42wanted to have a daughter. But to the
- 14:44machines, that represented a problem,
- 14:47because a program without a purpose had
- 14:49to be deleted. So her parents decided
- 14:52to take her out of the machine world
- 14:53and hide her inside the Matrix. But to
- 14:56do so, they needed the Trainman, and he
- 14:58worked for the Merovingian. Therefore,
- 15:01a price had to be paid. The Oracle knew
- 15:06what was happening and still allowed
- 15:08Sati's parents to do what was necessary
- 15:10, because she believed Sati was
- 15:12important, even going so far as to
- 15:14claim that one day the girl would have
- 15:16a very relevant role for both humans
- 15:18and machines. The price to be paid
- 15:22ended up being the Oracle's original
- 15:23avatar. Her old form was destroyed, but
- 15:26the program survived by using another,
- 15:28which is why, when she reappears, she
- 15:30retains her identity. Although part of
- 15:33what she had stored in her old body was
- 15:35lost during the process. Now she has
- 15:38another face, and the war is entering
- 15:40its final phase. Neo, after stopping
- 15:43several Sentinels in the real world,
- 15:45falls unconscious. His body remains
- 15:47outside the Matrix, but his mind is not
- 15:50there. He has ended up trapped in Mobil
- 15:52Avenue, a station located in a kind of
- 15:54intermediate space between the Matrix
- 15:56and the machine world. This place is
- 15:59controlled by the Trainman, so the
- 16:01Oracle sends Seraph along with Trinity
- 16:03and Morpheus, and together they embark
- 16:06on a mission to rescue him. But by this
- 16:09point, Morpheus is no longer the same
- 16:11man from the first film. The Architect
- 16:13destroyed practically everything he
- 16:15believed in his entire life. The
- 16:17prophecy, the fate of Zion, and the One
- 16:20. Everything was just part of a control
- 16:23cycle. And now Morpheus looks at the
- 16:26Oracle and asks her why he should keep
- 16:28believing in her, to which she replies
- 16:30that he shouldn't, because the choice
- 16:33belongs to him again. Trinity, Morpheus
- 16:37, and Seraph manage to force the
- 16:39Merovingian to free Neo, and shortly
- 16:41after, the One returns to the Oracle,
- 16:43but this time he doesn't want riddles,
- 16:45he wants answers. He asks her why she
- 16:49never told him the truth about the
- 16:50cycles and the previous Ones. And the
- 16:52Oracle explains to him that he wouldn't
- 16:55have truly understood that information
- 16:57before. Naturally, Neo asks who decided
- 17:00that, and she directs his attention to
- 17:02something that has long been a part of
- 17:04her apartment. A sign above the door
- 17:08with a Latin phrase that says "temet
- 17:11nosce," which means "know thyself." Neo
- 17:16understands the answer. So, the one who
- 17:18decided it was him. And that is when he
- 17:21asks something even more important. Why
- 17:24do the Architect and the Oracle seem to
- 17:26see the world in such different ways?
- 17:28Their functions are different. While
- 17:30the Architect tries to balance the
- 17:32equation and keep the system stable,
- 17:34the Oracle unbalances it. But to what
- 17:37end? The answer to this is that she
- 17:39wants the same thing as Neo: for the
- 17:41war to end. But the Oracle also admits
- 17:43something that shatters the image of an
- 17:45omniscient deity. She does not know
- 17:48absolutely everything. She can
- 17:50understand choices, study probabilities
- 17:52, and see possible paths better than
- 17:54anyone. But when a decision has not yet
- 17:56been understood, she cannot see what
- 17:59lies beyond it. Neo asks her if Zion
- 18:02will survive, but she doesn't know. The
- 18:05only thing she can clearly perceive is
- 18:07something dark, something growing
- 18:09within the Matrix. And that something
- 18:12is Smith. After Neo destroyed him in
- 18:15the first movie, Smith returned as
- 18:17something different. He was no longer
- 18:19really an agent, nor did he obey the
- 18:21system. Now he could copy himself over
- 18:24other humans, programs, and even other
- 18:26agents, and he was spreading further
- 18:28each time. The Oracle finally explains
- 18:31to Neo that Smith is his opposite, his
- 18:33negative—the system's response trying
- 18:35to compensate for the existence of the
- 18:37One. And in fact, the more powerful Neo
- 18:40becomes, the more Smith grows. But now
- 18:43that anomaly threatens to consume the
- 18:45entire Matrix. Meanwhile, Sati lives
- 18:48with the Oracle, the same little girl
- 18:50for whom she had deemed it acceptable
- 18:52to lose her previous avatar. And one
- 18:54afternoon, while baking cookies, the
- 18:56Oracle realizes Smith is near, so she
- 18:58looks at Seraph and asks him to take
- 19:01Sati away. The girl asks if they will
- 19:03see her again tomorrow, but the Oracle
- 19:05cannot promise it. Seraph and Sati
- 19:09prepare to escape, but Smith finds them
- 19:11, absorbs them, and then enters the
- 19:12apartment. The Oracle is waiting for
- 19:15him, but she does not try to escape.
- 19:18Smith even mocks her for it. If she can
- 19:20see the future, why did she choose to
- 19:22stay? And it is at that moment that
- 19:24something happens which may seem simple
- 19:26and unnoticeable, but is very important
- 19:28. Smith calls her "mom," which shows us
- 19:32that even the programs of the Matrix
- 19:34saw her as their mother. The Oracle
- 19:38does not try to fight or convince him
- 19:40not to assimilate her; she only tells
- 19:41him to do what he came to her apartment
- 19:43for. So Smith reaches out and absorbs
- 19:47her. Now one of his copies has
- 19:50something the others did not possess.
- 19:53The Oracle's ability to see possible
- 19:55future events, in one of which Smith
- 19:57believes he has seen his victory.
- 20:00Meanwhile, Neo travels to the machine
- 20:02city and arrives before the enormous
- 20:04entity known as Deus Ex Machina, which
- 20:06represents their central power, and
- 20:08instead of trying to destroy them, he
- 20:11proposes a deal. Smith is out of
- 20:13control and, if he continues to expand,
- 20:15he will eventually be a problem for
- 20:17them as well. Neo can stop him, but of
- 20:20course he wants something in return:
- 20:22peace. The machines agree, so Neo plugs
- 20:25back into the Matrix one last time.
- 20:28Smith has converted practically the
- 20:29entire simulation into copies of
- 20:31himself. Thousands of them watch, but
- 20:34only one steps in to fight. And
- 20:36ironically, it is the Smith who
- 20:38absorbed the Oracle. The battle begins
- 20:41and the two appear practically
- 20:43unstoppable. They destroy buildings,
- 20:46fly, and strike each other at
- 20:47extraordinary speeds. But Smith is calm
- 20:50because, apparently, he already saw how
- 20:52it all ends. He knows that Neo will
- 20:55fall, and eventually that is what
- 20:56happens. Neo ends up on the ground, so
- 20:59Smith approaches and utters a phrase.
- 21:02Everything that has a beginning has an
- 21:04end, Neo. The same words that the
- 21:07Oracle spoke. Smith is left confused.
- 21:10He does not understand why he just said
- 21:12them, but that message was for Neo, and
- 21:14that is when he realizes that
- 21:16continuing to fight will solve nothing.
- 21:18So he stands up, stops resisting, and
- 21:21allows Smith to absorb him. For an
- 21:25instant, it seems the former agent has
- 21:27won, but Neo remains physically
- 21:29connected to the machines and now Smith
- 21:31is also connected to him. So the
- 21:34machines use that connection to send a
- 21:37massive surge through Neo's body. The
- 21:40Smith who absorbed him begins to glow
- 21:42and then explodes. And so copy after
- 21:45copy of Smith disappears until
- 21:47absolutely all the Smiths are
- 21:49eliminated. The virus ceases to exist
- 21:52and Neo dies. But the war ends, and
- 21:55before the Matrix reboots, we can catch
- 21:57a glimpse of the Oracle's body lying on
- 22:00the ground. The Matrix begins to
- 22:02rebuild itself. The absorbed people and
- 22:05programs return, and among them, the
- 22:07Oracle also returns, and the next time
- 22:09we see her, she is sitting in a park.
- 22:12The Architect appears before her and
- 22:14clearly knows what she has just done.
- 22:17He tells her she has played an
- 22:19extremely dangerous game, and the
- 22:21Oracle replies that change always is.
- 22:24So she asks, "How long do you think
- 22:26peace will last?" But no one can know.
- 22:30So her final answer is really, as long
- 22:32as it can. But there is another
- 22:34question. What will happen to those
- 22:36humans who want to leave the Matrix?
- 22:38The Architect replies they will be
- 22:40freed, to which the Oracle demands his
- 22:42word, and he, of course, agrees.
- 22:45Shortly after, she appears alongside
- 22:47her guardian, Seraph. The girl has
- 22:49created a massive sunrise within the
- 22:51Matrix, and she did it for Neo. Seraph
- 22:53looks at the sky and then at the Oracle
- 22:55and asks her a question. Did you always
- 22:58know it would end this way? And after
- 23:00everything we have seen, we might
- 23:02expect her to answer yes. But no, she
- 23:05didn't know; she only believed. And
- 23:08perhaps no other phrase defines the
- 23:10Oracle better for the original films.
- 23:12Her story could have ended perfectly
- 23:15there, but it didn't, because in 2005
- 23:17the video game The Matrix Online
- 23:19appeared. And here we need to make a
- 23:20brief clarification. When it was
- 23:23released, the video game was presented
- 23:25as the official continuation of the
- 23:26events that occurred after The Matrix
- 23:28Revolutions, and for years it continued
- 23:30to develop the universe. Later, The
- 23:33Matrix Resurrections arrived, and
- 23:35several things no longer fit together
- 23:37quite cleanly. So, from here on, what
- 23:40you will hear corresponds to what we
- 23:43saw in the continuation that The Matrix
- 23:45Online told during that era. After the
- 23:49truce, humans and machines attempt to
- 23:51coexist. The Matrix continues to
- 23:53function, and those who truly wish to
- 23:55leave can do so, but the peace is
- 23:57extremely fragile. It is then that
- 23:59Morpheus begins to demand something. He
- 24:01wants Neo's body because the machines
- 24:03never returned it, and his obsession
- 24:05grows until it leads him to take
- 24:06increasingly dangerous actions within
- 24:08the Matrix. Ultimately, Morpheus is
- 24:11killed, an event about which there is
- 24:12already a detailed video explaining
- 24:14this story on the channel if you'd like
- 24:16to watch it. And so, the death of one
- 24:19of Zion's most important men once again
- 24:21heightens tensions. But the Oracle
- 24:24remains within the Matrix, continuing
- 24:26to help humans and protect Sati. And
- 24:28little by little, she begins to notice
- 24:30that there are forces interested in
- 24:32destroying that peace. And one of them
- 24:35is the General, who was an ancient
- 24:37military program that had been linked
- 24:39to the sentinel army that attacked Zion
- 24:41before the truce. But after the peace,
- 24:45he stopped obeying the machines and
- 24:47began to form his own forces. His goal
- 24:50was to provoke new conflicts, and at
- 24:52some point, he ends up kidnapping Sati.
- 24:55So Seraph leaves to go rescue her.
- 24:57While that is happening, the
- 24:59Merovingian sees an opportunity. He
- 25:01never forgot the Oracle. She had
- 25:03interfered in his business, helped Neo,
- 25:05and had survived even after losing her
- 25:08first avatar. So, the Frenchman starts
- 25:10looking for a way to eliminate her once
- 25:12and for all. His allies manage to gain
- 25:15access to a programmer known as the
- 25:17Apocrypha. She was a specialist in
- 25:20developing codes capable of capturing
- 25:22and deleting programs, and The
- 25:24Merovingian wants one designed
- 25:26specifically for the Oracle. The threat
- 25:30becomes serious enough that she leaves
- 25:32her usual apartment and has to go into
- 25:34hiding. The code is finally tested and
- 25:38it works, so The Merovingian deploys an
- 25:40operation to use it against her. The
- 25:43attack seems inevitable, but someone
- 25:45gets in the way. Someone we already
- 25:48know quite well, and who was actually
- 25:50one of the few humans to leave the
- 25:52Matrix by waking himself up. Kit. Kit
- 25:57takes the attack intended for the
- 25:59Oracle and luckily survives. The
- 26:01assassination attempt fails, but the
- 26:03situation within the real world
- 26:05continues to deteriorate. The machines
- 26:07discover that humans have built a
- 26:09second city they named New Zion and
- 26:12interpret that as a violation of the
- 26:14truce. The peace begins to break down,
- 26:17and in the midst of this new crisis
- 26:19appears another threat, a much stranger
- 26:21one, by the name of. Halborne is linked
- 26:26to a group known as the Oligarchs, but
- 26:28to avoid straying too far from the
- 26:30Oracle's story, suffice it to say they
- 26:33were extremely ancient humans who had
- 26:35developed technology far superior to
- 26:37that of Zion's inhabitants and could
- 26:39interact with the Matrix in
- 26:41extraordinary ways. Halborne enters the
- 26:45simulation looking for a program called
- 26:47the Biological Interface Program. The
- 26:49name may sound very complicated, but
- 26:51its purpose was much simpler to
- 26:53understand. To create an extremely deep
- 26:55interface between human code and
- 26:57machine code. And eventually, Halborne
- 27:00discovers that said program had been
- 27:02created precisely by the Oracle. The
- 27:06same artificial intelligence that was
- 27:07born to understand human psychology was
- 27:09now taking its research much further.
- 27:12But Halborne needs that program, and
- 27:14the Oracle has no intention of handing
- 27:17it over. Knowing she is being hunted,
- 27:20she begins moving different pieces,
- 27:22distributing information, handing over
- 27:24encrypted data to different factions,
- 27:26and trying to ensure that Sati remains
- 27:28protected as if she were preparing
- 27:29something for a future she might not
- 27:31live to see herself. Halborne finally
- 27:35manages to find her. He demands the
- 27:37Biological Interface Program, but the
- 27:39Oracle refuses. Halborne threatens to
- 27:42delete her, and she understands
- 27:44perfectly what can happen, but she
- 27:46stands her ground and continues to
- 27:47refuse. Then, Halborne activates a
- 27:50termination program and kills the
- 27:53Oracle. That is how her story ended
- 27:55within Matrix Online. The program that
- 27:58had helped build the modern Matrix,
- 28:00which had survived the Merovingian,
- 28:02Smith, the war, and body-swapping, was
- 28:04finally deleted while protecting a
- 28:06project related to the union between
- 28:08humans and machines. The developers
- 28:12still had plans to continue that story.
- 28:14The Oracle's Biological Interface
- 28:16Program was going to become even more
- 28:18important and was also going to connect
- 28:21directly to Trinity and other elements
- 28:23of the Matrix's future. But
- 28:25unfortunately, the video game shut down
- 28:27before everything could be developed.
- 28:29So that remained a planned direction
- 28:32rather than a fully released story. And
- 28:35then, many years later, came Matrix
- 28:38Resurrections, everyone's favorite
- 28:40movie. And in case my voice doesn't
- 28:43convey it correctly, yes, that is
- 28:45sarcasm. Decades have passed. Neo is
- 28:48once again trapped inside a completely
- 28:50different Matrix, and when he finally
- 28:52manages to escape, he asks about many
- 28:53people from the past, including the
- 28:55Oracle. But she is no longer there.
- 28:58After the truce, the machines
- 29:00themselves began to suffer problems.
- 29:02The amount of energy available began to
- 29:04decrease, and something that seemed
- 29:06practically impossible ended up
- 29:07happening. The machines started
- 29:09fighting each other. An internal
- 29:11conflict broke out. Some were willing
- 29:13to collaborate with humans, but others
- 29:15were not. And before disappearing, the
- 29:18Oracle managed to send one last warning
- 29:20about something new that was appearing,
- 29:23a new power. Soon after, a new version
- 29:26of the Matrix arrived, and with it, a
- 29:28huge purge of old programs where many
- 29:30disappeared. The film never shows us
- 29:33exactly what happened to the Oracle. We
- 29:36don't know if she died or who exactly
- 29:38deleted her. And we also cannot
- 29:40guarantee that everything that happened
- 29:42in The Matrix Online happened exactly
- 29:44the same way within this new continuity
- 29:46. Of course. What Resurrections makes
- 29:48clear is that the Oracle saw that
- 29:50change approaching. She sent a warning
- 29:53and then simply disappeared. The new
- 29:56Matrix ended up under the control of
- 29:58another program called The Analyst, and
- 30:00curiously, the new system learned
- 30:02something that takes us back to the
- 30:04origin of this whole story. The
- 30:06Architect had tried to rule the Matrix
- 30:08through precision, mathematics, and
- 30:10equations, but the Analyst understood
- 30:12that he could better control humans by
- 30:14using their emotions. Desire, fear, and
- 30:17frustration were new weapons of control
- 30:20. An example of this was keeping Neo
- 30:23and Trinity close enough to feel they
- 30:25could reach what they wanted, but never
- 30:27allowing them to actually be together.
- 30:30Human psychology was once again the
- 30:32central piece of the system, only now
- 30:35the Oracle was no longer there, but
- 30:36someone deeply related to her had
- 30:38indeed survived. Sati, the girl whose
- 30:42existence the Oracle had considered so
- 30:44important decades earlier, helps find
- 30:46Neo. Then she participates directly in
- 30:49the plan to free Trinity, and when the
- 30:51decisive moment arrives, she doesn't
- 30:53try to choose for them because,
- 30:54ultimately, that choice belongs to them
- 30:56. Sati is never officially called the
- 30:59new Oracle, and we don't need to turn
- 31:01her into something the films never
- 31:02explicitly state. But it's impossible
- 31:05to ignore one thing. The Oracle spent
- 31:07much of her existence pushing humans
- 31:09and programs toward decisions that
- 31:11could change the system. And decades
- 31:14after her disappearance, Sati ends up
- 31:16helping to bring about another major
- 31:18change within the Matrix. Perhaps that
- 31:20is why the Oracle's story ends up being
- 31:22much stranger than it seemed when Neo
- 31:24first walked into that kitchen. A
- 31:27program created by the machines, whose
- 31:29original mission was to understand
- 31:31humans and whose discovery allowed the
- 31:33Matrix to finally control them. But
- 31:36centuries later, that same
- 31:37understanding would end up being
- 31:39fundamental to breaking the cycle that
- 31:41kept the system running. And the irony
- 31:43of it is that it didn't happen because
- 31:46the Oracle controlled every single
- 31:48thing that occurred—because, in
- 31:49reality, she never could—but because
- 31:52she learned something the Architect
- 31:54never fully grasped in the same way.
- 31:57People could surprise you, they could
- 31:59make a decision that didn't seem
- 32:01logical, choose someone else over
- 32:03themselves, love, believe. And that was
- 32:06always the difference between the two.
- 32:09The Architect needed the system to keep
- 32:11functioning, but the Oracle was willing
- 32:13to risk that system for the possibility
- 32:15that something could change. All her
- 32:19prophecies were just words and actions
- 32:21that seemed isolated, but together they
- 32:24were able to break a cycle that had
- 32:26worked for generations. And this is
- 32:30where I ask you: at what point did the
- 32:32mother of the Matrix stop trying to
- 32:34understand humanity for the machines
- 32:36and truly start taking our side? And
- 32:40did she really not see her own end
- 32:42coming? Or, just like when she decided
- 32:45to wait for Smith, she knew she could
- 32:47lose it all and still chose to do it
- 32:49anyway. As always, you have the final
- 32:52word. If you enjoyed this video, I
- 32:55would greatly appreciate it if you left
- 32:56a like and commented on what you think
- 32:58about this story and this character.
