3. 0:04morning want to go back to the last
4. 0:07couple of weeks and what it was like for
5. 0:09you and Lois and the rest of your
6. 0:11family sitting in that courtroom and
7. 0:14hearing what your daughter had to say
8. 0:16because she had to testify in some
9. 0:18detail about what she had to
10. 0:21endure at the hands of this horrible man
11. 0:24what was that like for you all you know
12. 0:27I I think that you know prior to her
13. 0:30testimony she had been brought in by the
14. 0:32prosecutors to you know go through go
15. 0:34over things and she called me one night
16. 0:37one day and she said dad you
17. 0:39know what I'm having to say is so much
18. 0:42more than what I've ever said before and
19. 0:45uh she had even probably told you what
20. 0:47she'd ever even told me and and I mean
21. 0:49we knew that it was
22. 0:51horrible uh but to hear it in court it
23. 0:54was uh you know it was outrageous but
24. 0:56she you know I don't know how she had
25. 0:59the it the the grace to be able to say
26. 1:03it in the manner that she'd said but the
27. 1:06thing that was so important was there
28. 1:08had to be absolutely no question that
29. 1:12Brian Mitchell was what he was I think
30. 1:15everybody was terribly impressed by her
31. 1:17Poise by her composure by her maturity
32. 1:22does it feel now I there's still a
33. 1:24sentencing phase to come and I know that
34. 1:26she wants to face him in court
35. 1:28absolutely does it feel like this
36. 1:30journey is coming to its maybe perhaps
37. 1:33logical end it it really did I mean when
38. 1:36we went in on Friday and heard that he
39. 1:41was guilty on both counts it was just
40. 1:43kind of like this is what we've been
41. 1:45waiting for for eight years and uh and
42. 1:48Justice took a long time the the
43. 1:52prosecutors were amazing and uh and
44. 1:54we're so grateful you know when
45. 1:56Elizabeth came home we wanted her to
46. 1:59know that this was not her fault and I
47. 2:02think so many victims get somehow
48. 2:06brought into feeling like they have some
49. 2:08ownership in what's happened to them
50. 2:10responsibility absolutely and I think
51. 2:13that was one thing that Elizabeth has
52. 2:15absolutely come you know this was not
53. 2:17her fault it was Brian Mitchell and and
54. 2:20facing him in court and telling the jury
55. 2:24and telling everyone made the statement
56. 2:27I mean when she got up and walked out
57. 2:29during the N9 months she she was
58. 2:33basically held captive and she did not
59. 2:35have the opportunity of getting away in
60. 2:38the times that she did she was brought
61. 2:39back and and she might as well have been
62. 2:41handcuffed with the the thought that
63. 2:44Brian somehow could get at the family or
64. 2:47would kill her sure sure Ed we thank you
