- 0:10Hi, my name is Nikki and I'm the early
- 0:12years coordinator here at ISF. [music]
- 0:14So the early years at ISF is comprised
- 0:17of three years. There's the tadpoles who
- 0:19are in our first section, [music] then
- 0:21froglets in our second section, and then
- 0:23the children who are fully fledged frogs
- 0:26move on to foundation. So the foundation
- 0:28program, it's a bridge between the early
- 0:30years 2 [music]
- 0:32and first grade. We've got a very
- 0:34intense full day for them, but fun uh
- 0:37and exciting.
- 0:40At ISF, [music]
- 0:41there is value not just for kids, but
- 0:43also for family. I could see in my
- 0:45daughters, both of them during the year,
- 0:48they grew a lot in terms [music] of
- 0:50responsibility, respect for other people
- 0:53and proactivity.
- 0:54>> [music]
- 0:54>> We are an Italian family both me and my
- 0:56husband but we picked this kind of
- 0:59school because we want them to be part
- 1:01of the world and not only from the
- 1:04language point of view but also to uh
- 1:06[music] know different cultures,
- 1:09different habits, try different tasties
- 1:11and that will open their mind. [music]
- 1:13>> In the early years we love being
- 1:15outdoors and we spend lots and lots and
- 1:17lots of time engaging in nature. We try
- 1:20to use nature as a [music] teacher
- 1:22bringing back into the classroom
- 1:24children's discovery
- 1:25>> for what regards the Italian in the
- 1:26early years. Uh I'm their teacher and
- 1:29what I do is simply I speak Italian the
- 1:32whole day with the children so that it
- 1:34nurtures their home language for the
- 1:37Italian native speakers. Same thing for
- 1:39the nonItalian native speakers. We also
- 1:42do like lots of fun things in Italian
- 1:44and we don't only take the Italian from
- 1:46the language itself point of view but we
- 1:49also try to [music] uh teach them about
- 1:51the culture. Something I really
- 1:53appreciate about working at ISF is the
- 1:57possibility [music] to work with such
- 1:59small class sizes where we can really
- 2:01get to know every single one of our
- 2:03students [music] so well and so
- 2:05personally that we can respond to their
- 2:07interests and we can follow [music]
- 2:10their passions to be able to create
- 2:12exciting learning experiences.
