1. 0:09good morning I'm Andrea Mitchell from
2. 0:11NBC News and MSNBC and it's my honor to
3. 0:14introduce the director of Central
4. 0:15Intelligence John Brennan my CIA
5. 0:18colleagues and I believe strongly in the
6. 0:20necessity of effective strong and
7. 0:23bipartisan congressional oversight we
8. 0:26are a far better organization because of
9. 0:28congressional oversight and as long as I
10. 0:30am director of CIA I will do whatever I
11. 0:33can to be responsive to the elected
12. 0:35representatives of the American people
13. 0:37for inviting me to speak to this very
14. 0:39distinguished group when I also thank
15. 0:41Andrea Mitchell for Lending her
16. 0:42considerable knowledge and insight to
17. 0:44our discussion this
18. 0:46morning CIA agrees with many of the
19. 0:48findings in the report and we disagree
20. 0:51with others we have acknowledged and
21. 0:53learned from the program shortcomings
22. 0:55and we have taken corrective measures to
23. 0:56prevent such mistakes from happening
24. 0:58again currently was trying TR to thw the
25. 1:02full review of the um as far as the
26. 1:05allegations of you know CIA hacking into
27. 1:08you know Senate computers nothing could
28. 1:09be further from the truth I we wouldn't
29. 1:11do that I mean that's that's that's just
30. 1:14beyond the the uh you know the scope of
31. 1:16of Reason in terms of what we she says
32. 1:18that there are potentially illegal and
33. 1:20unconstitutional breaches by the CIA
34. 1:22well there appropriate authorities right
35. 1:24now both inside of CIA as well as
36. 1:27outside of CIA jce Department are
37. 1:29looking at what uh CI officers and as
38. 1:32well as staff members did and I
39. 1:35defer to them to determine whether or
40. 1:37not there was any violation of law or
41. 1:39principle in South Asia has spread in a
42. 1:42Tas socii over the years you know it's
43. 1:44it's found throughout Africa you know
44. 1:46when the facts come out on this I think
45. 1:48a lot of people who are claiming that
46. 1:50there has been this tremendous sort of
47. 1:52spying and monitoring and hacking will
48. 1:54be proved uh wrong and z and um those
49. 1:58that are around the you know the core of
50. 2:01al-Qaeda and South Asia um there are
51. 2:04those groups like al-qaed Peninsula that
52. 2:06are clearly affiliated
