- 0:00Hello doctor. How are you today's?
- 0:01>> I'm good thank you.
- 0:02>> Uh can I know your name please?
- 0:04>> I'm Lipi Priyadi.
- 0:06>> Okay.
- 0:06>> I come from Chennai.
- 0:07>> Wow. Okay. Uh so how many years of
- 0:09practice experience do you have doctor?
- 0:11>> Um we've been practicing for say around
- 0:1325 years.
- 0:15>> Okay. Wow. That's great. So um doctor
- 0:18what challenges are you facing in your
- 0:20uh practice that you made you join this
- 0:22program?
- 0:24>> Uh I think the biggest challenge for me
- 0:26was um patient retention. uh despite
- 0:30being emotionally connected to most of
- 0:32them, we found that there is somewhere
- 0:35there is a line where uh patients don't
- 0:37tend to come back or they come back
- 0:40after a very long time. So uh that was
- 0:43one main thing for me. Uh second thing I
- 0:45also found that uh we are not social
- 0:48media active at all because the original
- 0:51rule was you know not to have uh ethics
- 0:53was not to publicize [music] your
- 0:55practice. Well that's not the case
- 0:57today. So, so we thought okay the only
- 1:00way to learn that is to learn it [music]
- 1:01through a business point of view. So
- 1:03when Dr. Shiram came to me he's my
- 1:06classmate so [music] from college. So
- 1:08when he came to me about this program
- 1:10first I was not sure but then as he told
- 1:13me about the [music] program I felt this
- 1:14is it this is going to open my mind.
- 1:16>> Right.
- 1:17>> Yeah.
- 1:17>> But why do you think this is the right
- 1:18time to do such [music] a thing?
- 1:21>> Because this is the first time I heard
- 1:22of a program like this. Till now um I
- 1:26have not [music] heard uh of uh business
- 1:28management programs. I knew about the
- 1:31Indian school of business but I didn't
- 1:33know that programs like this existed.
- 1:35[music] I have seen books but never knew
- 1:37it as a program. So
- 1:40>> yeah absolutely.
- 1:41>> So Dr. King, you have been a part of the
- 1:43program for 3 months now. What was this
- 1:46one aha moment for you which was very
- 1:48memorable or which you remember now?
- 1:52Um there are a couple uh one was when uh
- 1:57we were introduced to AI.
- 2:00I didn't know that AI could [music] be
- 2:02so deeply used in dentistry. That was
- 2:05absolutely an aha moment. [music] The
- 2:08second was the last talk by Dr. Shiram
- 2:10where he spoke about activity based
- 2:12[music] costing. Didn't realize that uh
- 2:16you know that we could further break
- 2:18down our costing. [music] So and I I
- 2:21would rather say that every class had
- 2:23one small aha moment but these two
- 2:24really stood out for me.
- 2:26>> Okay, that's amazing. So uh one what was
- 2:29this one module which actually you
- 2:31benefited a lot from? [music]
- 2:33>> Um
- 2:34>> maybe more of an eye openener for you.
- 2:38>> Uh that was [music] uh
- 2:40uh the uh what do you call that? Um
- 2:46I would still say [music] the activity
- 2:47based casting was one of them. It opened
- 2:49a lot and uh also the strategizing to
- 2:54[music] get the patients back you know
- 2:56making it the practice patiententric
- 2:58these are the two things the first and
- 3:00the last modules really hit
- 3:01>> right
- 3:02>> take that note yeah [music]
- 3:03>> amazing doctor so when you talk about
- 3:05the faculties now um talking about the
- 3:08entire faculties coming from different
- 3:10backgrounds uh cons you have so many
- 3:12years of practice experience do you
- 3:13think that they were very well versed or
- 3:15they were someone who could actually
- 3:16guide you or whatever they actually
- 3:18taught that was very beneficial. [music]
- 3:21>> Yes. Uh everyone I mean in the faculty
- 3:25there were only about I think four
- 3:26dentists. We still [music] have to hear
- 3:28one uh tomorrow. But uh apart from
- 3:32dentistry what they spoke [music] of
- 3:34like financial uh adjustments,
- 3:37budgeting, talking about patient
- 3:39centricity, all those were from the
- 3:41doctors. [music] But when it comes to
- 3:43the others like talking about AI,
- 3:45talking about inventory management,
- 3:47[music] budgeting,
- 3:49it was on the spot like it doesn't have
- 3:51to be totally dental based but it has to
- 3:54be like on a [music] business uh module
- 3:56and it was on spot. So that it it will
- 3:59take us [music] time to grasp the whole
- 4:01thing because we haven't thought in that
- 4:02angle but uh they have they put it very
- 4:06simplified. [music] So for us to figure
- 4:08out how to accept it into our practice
- 4:10will be great. Yeah.
- 4:12>> Okay. So um now when we talk about the
- 4:14program considering you've been a part
- 4:16of it for 3 months [music] now um so do
- 4:19you think the time money and energy you
- 4:22have spent in this [music] was valuable
- 4:23to you?
- 4:25>> Yes it was. I I actually wish the
- 4:28classes were a little more
- 4:29>> okay
- 4:30>> so that [music] uh a little more uh
- 4:32simplified a little more understanding
- 4:34of a certain topics. Um but that I think
- 4:37will [music] come with practice.
- 4:39So just like um what you would say small
- 4:43steps you take to [music] for each
- 4:45module you take small steps to
- 4:47understand it and break it up we'll get
- 4:49there. [music]
- 4:50>> Fair.
- 4:50>> Yeah. But surely I felt that maybe a
- 4:52couple of classes more but um I'm sure
- 4:55this was also adequate.
- 4:57>> Okay.
- 4:57>> So uh Dr. the amount of fees that you
- 5:00paid, do you think that you got a value
- 5:02back in terms of knowledge, the growth
- 5:04or even [music]
- 5:05uh let's just say uh future
- 5:07opportunities?
- 5:09>> Yes, of [music] course. Um
- 5:12I because I have known courses to be
- 5:14even more [music] costlier and for 3
- 5:17months and paying the amount we were
- 5:19asked to pay has been absolutely [music]
- 5:21on spot. It's been good.
- 5:23>> Okay.
- 5:23>> I think it's been fine. So has there
- 5:25been anything that you learned in the
- 5:27program so far [music] that you have
- 5:29implemented in your practice and
- 5:30>> already
- 5:32so like I said the activity based
- 5:35costing [music] has already started
- 5:37budgeting has started inventory
- 5:39management actually we were doing it
- 5:42from the beginning but I had I could
- 5:43rectify small details from it [music]
- 5:46that worked. AI not yet but um um we are
- 5:52looking into the social platforms we are
- 5:54trying to evaluate that and explore into
- 5:57it. [music] So yeah, different
- 5:58strategies have started from small small
- 6:01steps have started already. Yeah.
- 6:03>> So have you told everyone in your circle
- 6:05that you're doing this program?
- 6:06>> Not yet. Actually I want to do it
- 6:08[music] after I get my this thing. Why?
- 6:11I do not know but I thought okay I want
- 6:13to I am getting [music] I have told a
- 6:15few friends but uh I felt that coming
- 6:18here seeing this place and with with
- 6:22[music]
- 6:23uh the validiction that we get you know
- 6:25you show it and then they know that yeah
- 6:27[music] okay fine it means something.
- 6:30>> Has anyone in your circle gotten to know
- 6:32that you are doing such a program in
- 6:34spite of you telling them like had they
- 6:35noticed any change in you maybe?
- 6:37>> Uh
- 6:38>> any of your staff members? [music]
- 6:40>> Yes. Yes. My clinical assistant and my
- 6:42husband have seen that I'm bossing
- 6:44around more, micromanaging more, okay,
- 6:47>> getting things changed [music]
- 6:49at u all levels at all levels. Yeah.
- 6:52>> Wow, that's amazing. Dr. So [music]
- 6:54there are so many senior dentists out
- 6:56there who are actually struggling or
- 6:58facing challenges in the practice. Is
- 6:59there something that you'd want to tell
- 7:01them or maybe towards the program as
- 7:04well that how [music] can it be
- 7:06beneficial to them? someone who is on a
- 7:08a skeptical note that whether this will
- 7:10be beneficial to them or not.
- 7:12>> [music]
- 7:12>> Frankly telling you from where I come
- 7:14even I thought I was I was quite
- 7:15skeptical but once you join the program
- 7:18you realize that [music] uh
- 7:21it is dentistry we all know but we do
- 7:24not know how to [music]
- 7:26manage the clinic from the base level
- 7:28upwards [music] every level and that
- 7:32this program has really opened your eyes
- 7:33to so I'm sure that uh joining this
- 7:37program will open eyes [music] to those
- 7:39things which we have as dentists been
- 7:41only clinically very efficient [music]
- 7:44but managerial no so it opens that box
- 7:48for us as well so I'm sure it will help
- 7:50many dentists they should just have the
- 7:53open mind to believe that they [music]
- 7:54can do better yeah
- 7:56>> right so would you have done such a
- 7:58thing maybe 20 years before
- 8:01>> 20 years before yes if this program was
- 8:03there yes I would have [music] I would
- 8:05have
- 8:05>> and you feel that there's still some
- 8:07modules that you would want to do after
- 8:08the program
- 8:09>> after the program as well yeah something
- 8:11comes up. [music] It is nice to, you
- 8:13know, go and scratch out the surface to
- 8:16see what really is lying underneath.
