  1. 0:00I think there's two times the door to the subconscious mind opens up.
  2. 0:04When we wake up in the morning and we go to bed at night, and it's simple brain chemistry.
  3. 0:0870% or more of the programs in the subconscious are disempowering, self-sabotaging, and limiting behaviors.
  4. 0:18So the simple reality is this.
  5. 0:19We have great wishes and desires, and yet our life is not controlled by that.
  6. 0:23Our life is controlled by the programming.
  7. 0:25Evolution happens only when faced with obstacles.
  8. 0:29you need to go to be initiated.
  9. 0:31Your life is your initiation if you're paying attention.
  10. 0:34Be conscious of what you're asking for because the more detail you put in, the more the universe can manifest a resolution.
  11. 0:42There's nothing wrong with
  12. 0:44looking to the virality for happiness and fulfillment, it's not going to work for that long.
  13. 0:50When I get my new car, I get my new house, I get my new relationship, then I'm going to feel so great.
  14. 0:57Well, then they're back to the program, waiting for it to happen, for them to feel the emotion.
  15. 1:01They're believing their outer world has to change in order for them to feel better.
  16. 1:0595% of our behavior is coming from sub-below consciousness.
  17. 1:11And no matter what stage you're at, always obstacles
  18. 1:14arise continuously.
  19. 1:16Sometimes things go well, and then another obstacle comes.
  20. 1:19Hey, it's Evan Carmichael, and I watch these videos every day because I need them for motivation.
  21. 1:24Being around successful entrepreneurs every morning helps me believe that I can do great things too.
  22. 1:30It's like your morning coffee, but for your goals, kickstarting your day with a blast of positivity.
  23. 1:34So here is a challenge for you.
  24. 1:36Try watching one video every morning for the next 30 days, and let's find out together if they help you do great things too.
  25. 1:42If you're in, leave a hashtag, believe in the comments below so I can celebrate with you.
  26. 1:50So today let's get some incredible motivation from Joe Dispenza, Bruce Lipton, and Eckhart Tolle.
  27. 1:55Enjoy.
  28. 1:56I think there's two times the door to the subconscious mind opens up.
  29. 2:01When we wake up in the morning and we go to bed at night, and it's simple brain chemistry and simple physiology.
  30. 2:07We have a circadian rhythm.
  31. 2:08As soon as there's light, our body has been pretty much programmed that we begin to release serotonin and different chemicals that kind of wake us up.
  32. 2:17So our brain waves go from delta,
  33. 2:20to theta to alpha to beta.
  34. 2:22And you kind of slide up this way and then you're back to conscious awareness and local in space and time.
  35. 2:28When you go to bed at night, you go from beta to alpha to theta to delta and you slide down.
  36. 2:34Now, if you're stressed,
  37. 2:38you can't stop thinking, you stay in beta, and your thinking actually is arousing the body because you're thinking about your problems, you can't slide down, right?
  38. 2:47So those two points in the day, when we wake up in the morning and go to bed at night, and when alpha, or our analytical facilities are suppressed, we're in theta, we're in a hypnotic state, and the door between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind is wide open, and what separates the conscious mind
  39. 3:06from the subconscious mind is the analytical mind.
  40. 3:08So as you suppress analytical facilities, you can program anybody to do anything.
  41. 3:13So then what really happens for most people before they even reach for their cell phone, and by the way, the statistics are 86% of the people in the Western world, first thing they do is they reach for the cell phone and they connect to everything that's known.
  42. 3:30And why is that a problem?
  43. 3:32Well, I would never tell people how to think, but I would give them information to cause them to think.
  44. 3:39So the device is reminding them of things that are known.
  45. 3:46And every person, every object, everything, every place is mapped neurologically in our brain because we've experienced it.
  46. 3:52And then we have an emotion associated with our coworker, with our boss, with our ex, with our whoever.
  47. 3:58And so the moment we start responding,
  48. 4:01Now we start feeling the same way.
  49. 4:04So now the environment is actually controlling the person's feelings and thoughts.
  50. 4:11And anything that controls the way we feel and the way we think, we're victims to.
  51. 4:16So something's programming us to think and feel a certain way.
  52. 4:19There's nothing wrong with that.
  53. 4:21You should check your text and do whatever you need to do.
  54. 4:24But the first thing in the morning, if the door between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind is open,
  55. 4:29Why don't we program a new behavior?
  56. 4:31Why don't we rehearse a different way of being with our children, with our spouse, in our Zoom meetings, when we're alone, when we're in traffic?
  57. 4:39Is there a better way to evolve our experience?
  58. 4:42So if you're truly in the game of evolution, you're truly in the game, like one lifetime, one day, what am I working on today?
  59. 4:49Can I respond a different way to this person?
  60. 4:53Can I think this way instead of that way?
  61. 4:55Let me be conscious of my unconscious thoughts.
  62. 4:57Let me not...
  63. 4:58Let me be in a habit.
  64. 4:59Let me stay away from certain emotions.
  65. 5:01Let me practice feeling these emotions and see if I can maintain it.
  66. 5:04Now you're in the game.
  67. 5:05You're out of the bleachers and you're on the playing field.
  68. 5:08So it actually happens even before the cell phone because what most people do is they wake up and the first thing they do is the brain is a record of the past.
  69. 5:16They think of their problems.
  70. 5:18And those problems are just memories that are etched in the brain that are connected to certain people and objects at certain times and places.
  71. 5:24The moment they think of their problems, they're thinking of the past.
  72. 5:27Then when they think about their problems and they feel unhappy, now their body's in the past.
  73. 5:30And if you believe that your thoughts have something to do with your destiny, wow.
  74. 5:34And then the emotion that's associated there is now the body's in the past because thoughts are the language of the brain and feelings are the language of the body.
  75. 5:41And how we think and how we feel creates our state of being.
  76. 5:43Now here's the problem.
  77. 5:45If you can't think,
  78. 5:47greater than how you feel.
  79. 5:50and you believe that your thoughts have something to do with your destiny, and you understand that feelings and emotions are a record of the past, then you're thinking in the past, and your life will stay the same.
  80. 6:0195% of our behavior is coming from sub, below consciousness.
  81. 6:08And we're the ones that can't see it when we play it, but everybody else, of course, is seeing exactly what we're doing.
  82. 6:13So the whole idea is, are you living the life you want, or are you living the life you've been programmed?
  83. 6:18And the answer, unfortunately, is,
  84. 6:20Most of us are living a life we've been programmed, and the programming comes from other people, so it's not our lives.
  85. 6:27Let's give a reason why programming occurs, okay?
  86. 6:30The brain is a computer, the most powerful computer that humans have ever experienced.
  87. 6:35But it has parallels to computers, and number one is this.
  88. 6:39In the old days, when you would buy a computer before they put the programs in, you could bring it home, brand new computer, plug it in, push start, boots up, screens on, and I said, do something.
  89. 6:49And people, well, no, I can't do anything.
  90. 6:50You got a brand new computer.
  91. 6:52First, you have to put programs into a computer.
  92. 6:55before you can use that computer.
  93. 6:58The brain of a human is the same thing.
  94. 7:02The screen lights up in the last trimester of pregnancy.
  95. 7:04It's ready, but there are no programs.
  96. 7:07So the first seven years of a child's life is the brain is not operating at the higher level of consciousness, higher level, higher vibration.
  97. 7:16That's what we talked about.
  98. 7:17We put wires on a person's head, electroencephalograph, read brain function.
  99. 7:21A child up through seven is not operating at consciousness except for a little bit.
  100. 7:27It's primarily operating at a lower vibration called theta.
  101. 7:30And I say, well, what is theta?
  102. 7:31I say, it's expressed as imagination.
  103. 7:34So that's how children can have a tea party and they pour nothing into the cup and then they drink the nothing and then they explain how that was the best tea they ever had.
  104. 7:43Or a child rides a broom saying it's a horse.
  105. 7:46In the child's mind, that is not a broom, it's a horse.
  106. 7:50But it's mixing imagination and reality.
  107. 7:53But theta is hypnosis.
  108. 7:55And the significance of that is children have to learn how to become a member of a family.
  109. 8:01The rules.
  110. 8:01Member of a community.
  111. 8:03The rules.
  112. 8:03I go, how can an infant, a young kid, learn these rules?
  113. 8:07They can't go to school.
  114. 8:08They can't read the book and all that.
  115. 8:09And I say, you don't have to.
  116. 8:11Nature provided theta, hypnosis.
  117. 8:14so that they can observe the parents, the family, and the community.
  118. 8:18Just observe their behavior and download those as programs.
  119. 8:22Age seven, then that's when they start to become more conscious and engaging themselves.
  120. 8:28First seven years is programming, but after age seven, 95% of your life is coming from that program.
  121. 8:34So if you can program the child for the first seven years, then the rest of the life of that child is actually an expression of that program.
  122. 8:41Hi, I'm Bruce Lipton, author of the bestselling books, The Biology of Belief, Spontaneous Evolution, and The Honeymoon Effect.
  123. 8:48I'm here to thank Evan Carmichael for featuring me on his YouTube channel.
  124. 8:52And I want to let you know that Evan is giving away links where you can watch the first episodes of my special Gaia series entitled Inner Evolution for free.
  125. 9:02Evan is making this offer to thank you for watching this video.
  126. 9:06You will find the links in the description section below.
  127. 9:10Thank you.
  128. 9:11The nature and function of challenges and difficulties in the evolutionary process
  129. 9:20We can use the term challenge, which already has a positive spin to it.
  130. 9:25Something happens and you call it.
  131. 9:27It's a big challenge.
  132. 9:30But without the positive spin, you would say, it's really bad.
  133. 9:34Oh, it's so bad what has happened.
  134. 9:40Then you become more spiritual and say, I'm faced with a challenge, okay.
  135. 9:49Now, challenges come in many forms.
  136. 9:52There's no human life that is not profoundly challenged in one way or another.
  137. 9:59Some humans are challenged by physical challenges, difficulties.
  138. 10:06Other humans are usually challenged by dreadful psychological challenges and their own minds.
  139. 10:17personal challenges in your personal life, collective challenges that affect millions of people at the same time, although in various ways.
  140. 10:27We've just had one.
  141. 10:28It seems that
  142. 10:41Many things are almost designed in one's life to stop you from evolving or becoming more conscious.
  143. 10:52And many people say, if I only had surroundings, if I lived in a place that was peaceful,
  144. 11:06and calm, and my needs are met, my basic needs are met, and I got pure food and everything else, so I don't have to worry about things anymore.
  145. 11:20If I could only live in this perfect environment, I could really make spiritual progress.
  146. 11:26If I only had that, but I don't, I can't.
  147. 11:32And no matter what stage you're at, always obstacles arise continuously.
  148. 11:38Sometimes things go well, and then another obstacle goes, and then they go well again.
  149. 11:44Obstacle come in many, many forms, physical, relationship, financial, home situation, all kinds of things.
  150. 11:54Pandemic is a collective one, and other collective ones most likely coming soon.
  151. 12:04The strange thing is, evolution happens only when faced with obstacles.
  152. 12:17That happens on every level.
  153. 12:19physical level, every level, it's only when an obstacle is encountered that there's a call for more energy and then more energy flows in and whatever the frequency of energy could even be physical.
  154. 12:38For example, if you want to have a stronger body, it's not going to happen if you lie on your sofa every day, drinking beer and watching Netflix.
  155. 12:53You can say, I want a stronger body.
  156. 12:55Yeah, well, it's not happening.
  157. 13:00Now, what do you have to do to have a stronger body?
  158. 13:04To put it in strange terms, you have to, at first, you have to make life difficult for your body.
  159. 13:15For example, you go jogging.
  160. 13:20And you think, I wish I was watching Netflix on my sofa.
  161. 13:25The body doesn't like it, but you say, and then you lift a weight.
  162. 13:35You're making life difficult for your body, very difficult.
  163. 13:39But only then it happens, your body then demands more energy and an influx of energy comes that eventually is translated into muscle growth and so on.
  164. 13:51And then a point comes when actually more energy has come, then you suddenly enjoy that.
  165. 13:58But the enjoyment is preceded by
  166. 14:04experiencing difficulty and obstacle.
  167. 14:07On every level, humans evolve.
  168. 14:10Many, many people here, I know that from what people have told me, it's always the case, many of you would not be here if you had not encountered very difficult life situations.
  169. 14:28either through loss or breakdown of relationships, loss of loved ones, serious physical illness, accident.
  170. 14:44Many people have told me, I would never have come realize what this is about if I hadn't gone through this difficult period in my life.
  171. 14:56It's then,
  172. 14:58there's an influx of energy that comes.
  173. 15:02And at the highest level, it is an increase in consciousness.
  174. 15:09As you're faced with difficulties, some difficulties can be removed on a practical level.
  175. 15:18Many other difficulties require an increase in consciousness for you to overcome them or transcend them.
  176. 15:28I've had correspondence from people in prison, some are in prison for life, and they've said, I have awakened through coming into contact with this teaching, I have awakened, and I am free in a prison cell.
  177. 15:47So they have, it is, in your comfort zone,
  178. 15:56it is very unlikely that the awakening will happen to any human being, as long as they remain in their comfort zone.
  179. 16:06Perhaps if they had, this is the last incarnation, they've already gone through an enormous amount of evolution in previous lifetimes, and then perhaps
  180. 16:19At a very early age, they can already awaken.
  181. 16:22But most humans, they do not awaken as long as they're in their comfort zones.
  182. 16:29Oh, good enough.
  183. 16:34I mean, comfort zone is not all that happy, mostly, but at least it's not too bad.
  184. 16:40But when you're taken out of your comfort zone, that's where evolution happens, the evolution of consciousness.
  185. 16:48So in other words, you need the bad to evolve.
  186. 16:54I think the greatest relationship that you could ever have is with yourself.
  187. 16:59And taking time to be in the presence of yourself and ask yourself important questions like, are you happy?
  188. 17:06Who am I?
  189. 17:07And instead of getting up and getting on your cell phone and getting distracted, sit with your triple filtered water or a glass of wine or whatever you're into, JJ.
  190. 17:15Sit down and answer the question without being distracted.
  191. 17:17The contemplation process is the building process neurologically.
  192. 17:23And for me, I was just a guy.
  193. 17:26I'm a guy who loves God.
  194. 17:27I'm a guy who loves the divine.
  195. 17:29I'm a guy who loves mystery.
  196. 17:30I'm the guy who just never stops dovetailing information.
  197. 17:33I mean, that's just me.
  198. 17:35And I never really planned on doing any of this.
  199. 17:38I mean, my theories on life is make it up as you go along and take the value and run.
  200. 17:42And what the bleep became a sensation.
  201. 17:45And all of a sudden, I went from a normal guy to being a rock star.
  202. 17:49And I was traveling around the world and doing conferences all over the place.
  203. 17:52And I reached this point where I realized that I wasn't living the work.
  204. 17:57And that really bothered me.
  205. 17:59I was disturbed by that.
  206. 18:00I was really uncomfortable.
  207. 18:01And when you get uncomfortable and nothing's making that discomfort go away, it's time to evolve.
  208. 18:07It's time to make a different choice.
  209. 18:09And I clearly heard in my head during one meditation, stop making the same choices and pause.
  210. 18:17I didn't know what that meant.
  211. 18:19except that I knew that I was relying on all of this external stimulation to build an identity that I really wasn't.
  212. 18:26And then I had to show up for people and look a certain way and act a certain way, and that wasn't me.
  213. 18:32And it got disturbing for me.
  214. 18:35And I had this gap between the way I appeared and the way I really was.
  215. 18:39And I didn't make time for myself and make time to be the example.
  216. 18:43I mean, my motive is always be the example of everything that I teach.
  217. 18:46If I'm not, I'm not.
  218. 18:47I shouldn't be up here.
  219. 18:49I shouldn't be leading in my clinic if I don't live those principles myself, if I don't live my life that way.
  220. 18:55And so, you know, at the height of my popularity, I disappeared.
  221. 19:05I canceled all my...
  222. 19:07My friends thought I was on crack or something.
  223. 19:09They thought I lost my mind.
  224. 19:11Because you know what?
  225. 19:12They were saying you could make so much money.
  226. 19:14And I said, I know how to make money.
  227. 19:15I really don't care about money.
  228. 19:17I really don't care about how happy I'm going to be with myself.
  229. 19:21And I broke from the world for six months and retreated.
  230. 19:26And I really decided that if I presented myself back to the world, that I wasn't going to be seduced by it in the same way.
  231. 19:32That I really wanted to be the example of everything that I taught and I wanted to lead events in a way that empowered people.
  232. 19:39I never wanted it to be about me.
  233. 19:40I wanted it to be about you.
  234. 19:43Also to make sure you're actually taking action after watching this video, I've designed a special free worksheet just for this video.
  235. 19:51The worksheet will highlight our favorite lessons from the video that will inspire you to remember what you learned today and actually apply them.
  236. 19:58The worksheet will also give you space to write down what your key takeaways are and your specific plan of action to make sure you're getting results
  237. 20:07If you want the worksheet designed specifically for this video, absolutely for free, there's a link in the description below.
  238. 20:13Go click on it and start building the momentum in your life and your business.
  239. 20:18I'll see you there.
  240. 20:19One of the things that really upset me for a long time was the fact that I had great ideas and intentions and I wanted to manifest them and I thought this is how it's going to manifest and so I had all these visions of how things were going to unfold.
  241. 20:30And then I'd start a process and it wouldn't unfold and then it would irritate me because it's like I've got to make it work, I've got to make it work.
  242. 20:37Ultimately I started to recognize when things didn't work,
  243. 20:41It was possibly because there were better ways to do it and I wasn't conscious of it.
  244. 20:46And so what I started to learn over a period of time was simply this.
  245. 20:50There's an old saying, there's a means to an end.
  246. 20:53And the idea, well, the end is your destination.
  247. 20:57And, of course, the means are how you're going to get to that destination.
  248. 21:02Well, of course, all of us sit down and say, yeah, this is what I want.
  249. 21:05And then we start to figure out, well, this is what I'll do to get to those ends.
  250. 21:08I'll get to this and I'll get to this to get to the end.
  251. 21:12what I started to realize at some point was, maybe my awareness of how to get to the end wasn't exactly accurate.
  252. 21:20And it turns out, many of the times when things didn't work, and I was like so upset it didn't work, but it turned out, oh, there was a better way to get there and I didn't even know it.
  253. 21:29So the universe was really facilitating me and I wasn't paying attention.
  254. 21:33I was getting angry at the universe because like, it's not working the way I want it to work.
  255. 21:38And then I started to realize at some point was, my God, maybe the universe has a better solution than the one I was even thinking of myself.
  256. 21:46So I really learned over a period of time, it's very critical insight to help me get to where I am, is to focus on the end.
  257. 21:54What is it I really want?
  258. 21:56Put that focus together.
  259. 21:57And it's very critical.
  260. 21:59It's very interesting because a lot of people have, well, I would like this.
  261. 22:02And it's a broad general category.
  262. 22:04And then at some point it's like, well, it's not specific enough.
  263. 22:08You have to actually say what it is you want.
  264. 22:11I'll always remember I was looking for a special shirt to go to a Pink Floyd concert.
  265. 22:17And I just all of a sudden visualized, oh, it'd be neat to have a Russian shirt, you know, with a collar that goes across here and a couple of buttons down.
  266. 22:25And I thought, oh yeah, that would be really great.
  267. 22:27That would be a cool shirt.
  268. 22:29And then I stopped and I was thinking, where the heck do you get a shirt like that?
  269. 22:33I have no idea in the world.
  270. 22:35But I thought that would be pretty good.
  271. 22:37So I figure, well, I still gotta get something, so I drive off to a mall up near San Francisco, and I walk into the mall, and there's a First Men's store over there, and I go, let's start looking, I have no idea.
  272. 22:48And I walk in, and of course, there's this big circular rack of sale clothes, and I thought, what the hell, it's only a Pink Floyd concert, one night, let's see what's in there.
  273. 22:55And I started going through the rack, and lo and behold, oh my God, a Russian shirt, right in the middle of everything.
  274. 23:02And it was like the shock of, oh my God, there's a Russian shirt right here.
  275. 23:07The unfortunate part of it was I had the picture of a Russian shirt.
  276. 23:13I said, cool.
  277. 23:14I never said what the color was or anything else.
  278. 23:17I just said, Russian shirt.
  279. 23:19And there was a Russian shirt.
  280. 23:21Color?
  281. 23:22Gray.
  282. 23:23No color at all.
  283. 23:24Why?
  284. 23:25I didn't put in the concept of color and the universe said, well, just give it to them in gray.
  285. 23:29And it was one of those things like, oh, be conscious of what you're asking for because the more detail you put in,
  286. 23:39the more the universe can manifest a resolution.
  287. 23:42If you leave a lot of blanks in what you want, then all of a sudden it's like, well, it's random, whatever fills in the blank, because you never said what you wanted.
  288. 23:49You can have an idea of what you want, and that's important.
  289. 23:52But the most important part of that, just having an idea, is not just have a broad idea.
  290. 23:55I want X, and I go, no, no, what exactly do you want?
  291. 24:00Why?
  292. 24:01Go back to the principles of science, and the principles of science reveal something very important.
  293. 24:06That principle of science is this, consciousness is creating our life experiences.
  294. 24:10I go, well, that sounds new agey.
  295. 24:12I go, no, this is not new agey.
  296. 24:14This is the primary principle of quantum physics.
  297. 24:18We are creators.
  298. 24:19This is a fact.
  299. 24:21In fact, quantum physics says that, but now let me add one other fact.
  300. 24:25Epigenetics says the same thing, because epigenetics says your consciousness
  301. 24:30is controlling your behavior and your genes.
  302. 24:34And so it's time to stop for a second and recognize where is your consciousness?
  303. 24:38What are you thinking about?
  304. 24:40And the idea is start thinking all those very positive thoughts, but don't try and tell the universe how it's going to manifest, okay?
  305. 24:48You think of the picture.
  306. 24:51Let the universe get you there.
  307. 24:54And that's the most important lesson I've learned.
  308. 24:56I'm not telling the universe how I'm going to get there.
  309. 25:00I'm just saying universe is where I want to go.
  310. 25:03and then the universe will take care of it.
  311. 25:06It's so powerful.
  312. 25:08It is so wonderful.
  313. 25:09And I never believed in it for the first 40, 50 years of my life, but I can tell you now the life that I'm manifesting today is a consequence of just what I said.
  314. 25:18Focus on the end.
  315. 25:20Don't tell the universe the means to get there.
  316. 25:23The usual mistake or dysfunctional way of living, unconscious way,
  317. 25:32as I've mentioned before, is devaluing the present moment and overvaluing the next moment.
  318. 25:42Ego lives always with reference to past and future.
  319. 25:47The mentally are always somewhere else.
  320. 25:51Instead of giving fullest attention to this, because this is the most valuable moment,
  321. 25:57Why?
  322. 25:58Because it's the only one, the present moment.
  323. 26:01Give your fullest attention to this moment because it's not true that the next moment is more significant because it never comes.
  324. 26:13So there is a way of being totally present in the planning for the future.
  325. 26:19It's all little things.
  326. 26:22And even whoever, if you're the Pope or the president of a huge corporation or the president of a country, it's still the same.
  327. 26:31The present moment in its richness is usually overlooked because you're looking for something more significant.
  328. 26:44It's fine to achieve things, especially if they are beneficial.
  329. 26:50But for humanity and the totality on the planet, it's lovely to have that.
  330. 26:59But even that doesn't make up your identity.
  331. 27:03The more you honor the small things, the more likely it is that
  332. 27:09You'll experience more good things in the so-called future because you have such a good relationship with the present.
  333. 27:18Gratitude is an underlying state of consciousness, which is giving your fullest attention and honoring what is.
  334. 27:31The power to manifest is in
  335. 27:38experiencing the fullness of the present moment, the undifferentiated fullness.
  336. 27:52So when you don't complain about not only not other people, but also about your life,
  337. 28:02then you can't be a victim anymore.
  338. 28:04I is the light of consciousness in which these feelings are being experienced right now.
  339. 28:11The victim is a huge present.
  340. 28:17It is not who you are.
  341. 28:19And remember, thanks for everything.
  342. 28:27I have no complaint whatsoever.
  343. 28:30So there's this wonderful stillness here, and let's acknowledge it.
  344. 28:39The power is not just in you, it's all around you.
  345. 28:43Most people try to create a new personal reality as the same personality, and it doesn't work.
  346. 28:49We literally have to become someone else.
  347. 28:52In other words, thoughts are the language of the brain,
  348. 28:56and feelings are the language of the body.
  349. 28:58And how you think and how you feel creates a state of being.
  350. 29:02So most people have experiences in their life that brand them emotionally.
  351. 29:06They feel fear, they feel anger, they feel bitterness, they feel frustration, they feel insecurity.
  352. 29:12And those emotions then become part of their identity.
  353. 29:15So once they think certain thoughts that turn on certain circuits in their brain that are equal to their insecurity, and then they feel insecure, the moment they feel insecure, they think more insecure thoughts, which makes more chemicals for them to feel insecure.
  354. 29:30And the repetition of that cycle over time conditions the body to subconsciously become the mind of insecurity.
  355. 29:37So then the person says, I am insecure.
  356. 29:41And whenever you say, I am anything, you're commanding your mind and body towards a destiny.
  357. 29:47So then most people's biology is for the most part, their past.
  358. 29:53And so if you're not being defined by the vision of the future, some new possibility in your life, you're only left with the old circuitry in your brain and the old emotions of the past.
  359. 30:04So the question then is,
  360. 30:07Can you believe in a future that you can't see or experience with your senses yet, but you've thought about enough times in your mind
  361. 30:17that your brain is literally changed to look like the experience has already occurred.
  362. 30:23Now the latest research in neuroscience says you can change your brain just by thinking.
  363. 30:29So then as you begin to think about a new possibility, and your brain begins to fire in new sequences and new patterns and new combinations, and you begin to plan your behaviors,
  364. 30:41and you begin to review in your mind, mentally rehearse who you're going to be in your life.
  365. 30:47The mere action of mental rehearsal begins to install the neurological circuits in your brain.
  366. 30:52Now your brain is no longer a record of the past.
  367. 30:57Now it's in fact a map to the future.
  368. 31:00and if you were then to begin to emotionally embrace your future before it's made manifest.
  369. 31:05In other words, you're not waiting for your healing to feel wholeness.
  370. 31:10You're not waiting for your new relationship to feel love.
  371. 31:14You're not waiting for the mystical moment to feel awe.
  372. 31:17You're not waiting for your success to feel empowered.
  373. 31:21That's the old model of reality of cause and effect.
  374. 31:25In other words, the materialist
  375. 31:28The person who's waiting for their wealth to come to feel abundance, they're living by that model of cause and effect.
  376. 31:36But the quantum model is about causing an effect, which means you begin to experience your own worthiness and your abundance before it occurs.
  377. 31:45You have to feel wholeness in order for your healing to occur.
  378. 31:49We have to feel love for ourselves and love for life in order for us to have love in our life.
  379. 31:56And so then to instruct people how to teach their body emotionally how that future could feel like before it's made manifest, if they do it properly, their body as the unconscious mind begins to believe it's living in that future reality in the present moment.
  380. 32:14And they're beginning to signal new genes and new ways that begins to change their body to look like the event has already occurred.
  381. 32:23So the process of change
  382. 32:25And the meditative model requires unlearning and relearning.
  383. 32:29It requires breaking the habit of the old self and reinventing a new self.
  384. 32:33What we say in neuroscience, pruning synaptic connections and sprouting new connections.
  385. 32:38Unfiring and unwiring and refiring and rewiring.
  386. 32:43Unmemorizing emotions that are stored in the body and then reconditioning the body to a new mind and to a new emotion.
  387. 32:49No longer signaling the same genes in the same way, but signaling new genes in new ways.
  388. 32:55beginning to pull your energy out of the past and beginning to invest your energy into the future.
  389. 33:00What are the main limiting beliefs that you just hear consistently that most people tend to have if they're not in a, have a higher level program that they've caught and switched with?
  390. 33:14One of the main beliefs that they're caught up in is the lack of power they feel over their own health and their own reality.
  391. 33:22then I'm a victim.
  392. 33:23I'm a victim of my genes.
  393. 33:25I'm a victim of this world out here.
  394. 33:27I say, if the belief system is translated into behavior, if I believe I'm a victim, then my behavior will be as a victim.
  395. 33:38No power.
  396. 33:39You guys tell me what to do, and I'll try and do what you just said.
  397. 33:43And I say, well, that's the biggest problem of all, because quantum physics, I mentioned, is the most valid science.
  398. 33:49And principle number one is you're the creator of this.
  399. 33:51It's like, well, when are you going to own that?
  400. 33:54And the answer is, I could say it, but then you walk away and a few minutes later, you're back into your world again.
  401. 33:59Everything is gone.
  402. 34:00You know, listen, it took me a while.
  403. 34:03I learned and understood that.
  404. 34:04Oh, my God.
  405. 34:05This is how it works.
  406. 34:07And I was so excited.
  407. 34:08I wanted to get people.
  408. 34:09I'm going to tell anybody to listen to this.
  409. 34:12This is how it works.
  410. 34:13So I beginning got some people together and I started to go off.
  411. 34:17Let me tell you how to create the most beautiful life experience.
  412. 34:21And then they'd look at me and go, you know, Lipton for a guy who says, you know, this, your life doesn't look that good.
  413. 34:27Interesting.
  414. 34:28It was my wake up call.
  415. 34:30I said, how can I talk about how wonderful this is?
  416. 34:34And I'm not practicing it.
  417. 34:36And I immediately said to myself, no, don't go out there and talk to anybody about this.
  418. 34:41Why?
  419. 34:42Until you do it.
  420. 34:44So what were the, what were the things that were holding you back before you've discovered this?
  421. 34:49And then what was the new program that you started to implement for yourself on a consistent basis to have a hundred percent upgraded program?
  422. 34:58Yeah.
  423. 34:59Well, one of the things professionally, okay.
  424. 35:02I was doing a great job.
  425. 35:03I had a great professorship in a medical school, all that kind of stuff.
  426. 35:07You know, personally, my life sucked.
  427. 35:10Really?
  428. 35:10I put a relationship off the ground.
  429. 35:12I go, why not?
  430. 35:13And I go,
  431. 35:14Well, now that I know about it, I was programmed about relationships by observing my father and my mother.
  432. 35:21Well, they had dysfunctional relationships.
  433. 35:22So what do you think I downloaded?
  434. 35:24Dysfunction.
  435. 35:25So my conscious mind goes forward and says, yeah, I want to have a great relationship.
  436. 35:29I get into it.
  437. 35:30My subconscious mind steps up and says, oh, this is how we do a relationship.
  438. 35:34Oh, oh, oh.
  439. 35:36Game over.
  440. 35:37You know why?
  441. 35:38Because I didn't see the negative behaviors that I was putting out.
  442. 35:44My partner, potential partner, saw them and gave them cause for alarm.
  443. 35:49I don't think I want to be with this guy.
  444. 35:51You know, that was me.
  445. 35:53And then I realized that.
  446. 35:54And that's when I really had to go in first thing and start to change.
  447. 35:58Who am I?
  448. 35:59And I'll tell you the biggest problem.
  449. 36:02now after years of working, people do not love themselves.
  450. 36:08And I say, what does that mean?
  451. 36:09I say, if you have a program where you don't love yourself, then rationally, logically, can anybody else love you?
  452. 36:16And the answer is no.
  453. 36:18Because you don't think you're lovable.
  454. 36:20That's right.
  455. 36:20And somebody says you are.
  456. 36:22Oh, I love you.
  457. 36:23And then you go, you probably don't have any quality control.
  458. 36:26I know I'm not lovable.
  459. 36:27What's wrong with you?
  460. 36:29And then at some point you push them away and then they're not there.
  461. 36:32Then you go.
  462. 36:33I'm not lovable, nobody's here.
  463. 36:36I pushed them away, you know?
  464. 36:38And I changed that.
  465. 36:40I was nearly what, 45 years old, 40 some years old.
  466. 36:43And I had zero quality relationships for all that life.
  467. 36:48I changed the program.
  468. 36:51And within a couple of years, I'm now with my partner, Margaret.
  469. 36:56And the fact is, she was involved with a workshop training program for people.
  470. 37:01So she understood processing and stuff.
  471. 37:03And when I came and we added the science and the processing, we've been living a honeymoon for 26 years.
  472. 37:1220 years waking up every day going, wow, still here.
  473. 37:15Another day for fun.
  474. 37:17Another day for being in love.
  475. 37:19It was great, and it still is.
  476. 37:21But if I didn't change the program, that would never have been part of my life at all.
  477. 37:26I would have been my whole life struggling.
  478. 37:28It's easy to lose the present moment when you want to achieve something.
  479. 37:34Even just, you have to go to the supermarket.
  480. 37:38It's all you're
  481. 37:44are you able to be when you take action to be not to devalue the present moment not to always make it into a means to an end but are you able to just honor the present moment every step you're taking now while you are walking to the supermarket or whatever you do if it's or
  482. 38:06Well, these days people don't go anywhere, but you get from one room to another.
  483. 38:12You have to go to the bathroom.
  484. 38:15Even that can be a practice.
  485. 38:17You take one step at a time so that the moment of arriving at the destination where you want to get to is not more important than this moment.
  486. 38:27This moment is actually more important than the arriving.
  487. 38:32This applies on a small scale as well as on a large scale.
  488. 38:37This moment is of primary importance because it's all there ever is.
  489. 38:42So it's more important than arriving at the yet you're achieving your goal or arriving at your destination.
  490. 38:53That is a spiritual practice also.
  491. 38:55When you're present in what you do, instead of losing yourself in the doing, then the stillness is still there in the background.
  492. 39:05When you're listening to someone while you're having a conversation, if you can be so loud that you can just listen when the other person is speaking, then you're not losing yourself in your mind.
  493. 39:17And the stillness is still there in the background.
  494. 39:20I think we're all faced with great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.
  495. 39:26And in order, like for me personally, and after looking through your book and reading a good portion of it, I mean, for me, there's no school
  496. 39:36of ancient wisdom that you need to go to be initiated.
  497. 39:39Your life is your initiation if you're paying attention.
  498. 39:42So we meet challenges in our life from a certain level of mind, right?
  499. 39:46A certain level of consciousness or unconsciousness.
  500. 39:49And even Einstein said, we have to go to a greater level of consciousness than the consciousness that's created the problem.
  501. 39:56Well, what is consciousness?
  502. 39:57Consciousness is awareness.
  503. 39:59And awareness means possibilities that you haven't thought of before.
  504. 40:03So,
  505. 40:04We confront problems or challenges in our life.
  506. 40:07And as a side note, I was having breakfast with a researcher just last week who's studying what happens when we perceive a condition in our environment as a problem, how it weakens the organism.
  507. 40:20They're measuring this.
  508. 40:21And when a person sees it as a challenge, how they draw energy, they raise the energy of their body back into order.
  509. 40:29So if we said, I want to be...
  510. 40:33wealthy or i want to be healthy well what what you want to be that because you're not it so the initiation of going from not it here to it here you're going to have to climb some steps and there's going to be some blind spots so you try it out and it doesn't work
  511. 40:53Well, that's because there's a part of you that's still in a habit.
  512. 40:56There's part of you that's still unconscious.
  513. 40:58Okay.
  514. 40:59So what is it about myself and that circumstance that I am feeling about that circumstance?
  515. 41:08And that feeling is causing me to think about it.
  516. 41:10So you say, oh, it's impossible.
  517. 41:12They'll never change.
  518. 41:13I'll hire a hit man.
  519. 41:14I'll hire the mafia.
  520. 41:15I'll hire an attorney.
  521. 41:16I'll have my friend's friend to talk to me and nothing changes, right?
  522. 41:20Well,
  523. 41:21you're not separate from that experience.
  524. 41:25You're involved in it and how you think and how you feel broadcasts energy into the field.
  525. 41:30So your energy is the same every day.
  526. 41:33And as long as your energy is the same, nothing's going to change in your life either.
  527. 41:36And nobody changes until they change their energy.
  528. 41:39So then,
  529. 41:41What piece of knowledge, what piece of information, what would love do?
  530. 41:45What would greatness look like?
  531. 41:47Okay, I don't know.
  532. 41:48All right, well, certainly somebody in history has faced this problem.
  533. 41:53Don't get on Facebook and say, does anybody have any answers?
  534. 41:56Don't, go look it up and study and read and learn, you'll own it.
  535. 42:01And you'll say, wow, that person that was wealthy,
  536. 42:06I failed 500 times.
  537. 42:07Well, hell, I had the wrong view of wealth.
  538. 42:11Okay, then failure's not a thing.
  539. 42:12I got to overcome failure.
  540. 42:14Well, yep, just climbed a step.
  541. 42:17Okay, I'm reacting to that circumstance with the same emotion.
  542. 42:20That emotion is firing the same thoughts.
  543. 42:23I'm broadcasting the same energy into the field.
  544. 42:26If I were facing that circumstance and situation again with that person, that circumstance, what do I learn from that circumstance?
  545. 42:32How could I do it differently the next time?
  546. 42:35Find out a solution and rehearse it.
  547. 42:38Install the circuitry so when you get in the circumstance, you're not going to respond in an automatic habituation.
  548. 42:43Now you're at a greater level of consciousness.
  549. 42:45Now you're looking at possibilities that you weren't looking at before because you were unconscious.
  550. 42:50Now, that process of trial and error is so important in the spiritual path.
  551. 42:56How many times...
  552. 42:58Do we have to forget before we remember?
  553. 43:01And then we remember and we forget again.
  554. 43:04And it takes constantly remembering until we stop forgetting.
  555. 43:09And when we get to that point, now we're conscious.
  556. 43:11Now there's wisdom.
  557. 43:13And wisdom is the memory of the experience without the emotional charge.
  558. 43:18Now you're ready for the new adventure.
  559. 43:21So then people draw conclusions and say, oh, it's that person that ripped me off.
  560. 43:26It's that person that...
  561. 43:28Now you don't create your reality?
  562. 43:30You only create your reality when things are good.
  563. 43:33Well, somehow you got to tango through this.
  564. 43:35Somehow your objectivity in not reacting emotionally is going to change the energy of how you address this situation.
  565. 43:45Negative beliefs are equally powerful in controlling your health as are positive beliefs, except in the opposite direction.
  566. 43:54A positive belief can heal you from any disease.
  567. 43:57A negative belief can kill you by creating any disease.
  568. 44:04A belief can create the disease as much as belief can create the healing.
  569. 44:08And I go, so significance of this is profound because nobody talks about the negative belief.
  570. 44:12And I go, negative beliefs are powerful.
  571. 44:16It's called nocebo, as you mentioned.
  572. 44:18And as I said, they can cause any disease and they can kill you just because you believe you're going to die.
  573. 44:26You can die just from the belief.
  574. 44:29It's as much as you are dying of a cancer.
  575. 44:31You change your belief and you can then heal the cancer.
  576. 44:35I love this because a friend of mine, her name is Anita Morjani, and she wrote a book called Dying to Be Me.
  577. 44:42She had four years of cancer in the final days of her life.
  578. 44:48In the final week, she was so emaciated that the cancer lumps were sticking out of her skin because she lost so much body weight and the cancer lumps were sticking out.
  579. 44:59She's on a machine for life support.
  580. 45:01She goes into a coma and her oncologist, who's been working with cancer patients for years, says, oh, this is the final stage of a person before they die.
  581. 45:11So get in touch with all the family members and say, Anita is dying.
  582. 45:15She's in a coma.
  583. 45:17This is a sign that's the end of her life.
  584. 45:20and she has an out-of-body experience, a consciousness change, that the issues that were related to her life had to do with a lot of the fact that she was so feeling guilty of upsetting her family.
  585. 45:35She came from an Indian family with prearranged marriages, and she pulled out of a prearranged marriage about three days before the wedding, which made her family look like
  586. 45:47you know low class people it's like you broke a pre-arranged marriage that's like against the rules and everything that irritated her father who she was she had a lot of love but then that irritated her father and then she felt she's now alienated from that love that's what precipitated the cancer
  587. 46:06her out-of-body experience on the last day of her life, according to her oncologist.
  588. 46:11She had an out-of-body experience of communicating with her dead father, who said, no, you know, what happened on Earth stays on Earth.
  589. 46:20When you transcend, you're not there anymore, and everything's wonderful, and we love you and all that.
  590. 46:26She comes out of the coma.
  591. 46:29And the first thing she says, I want to eat something.
  592. 46:32You know, she was like, give me some ice cream.
  593. 46:34And she was like, what?
  594. 46:36You know, within a day, she was off the machines.
  595. 46:41Within a week to two weeks, there was no visible cancer anymore.
  596. 46:44And in fact, the doctors were saying, it's in there somewhere.
  597. 46:48And she kept saying, no, there's no more cancer anywhere.
  598. 46:52And they kept looking, and after a couple more weeks of looking, they said, no, she doesn't have any sign of cancer.
  599. 46:58She was on her last day of life with cancer.
  600. 47:04And a belief changed that she realized her father is not angry with her.
  601. 47:09She didn't alienate the love of her family.
  602. 47:13And that thought, when she woke up out of the coma,
  603. 47:17was the placebo in a sense of the healing thought that healed her from her last day of life.
  604. 47:23So people with cancer and they're all struggling, I go even to the very last day,
  605. 47:28The moment you change that consciousness is the moment you can have the cancer go into remission and disappear.
  606. 47:35Killing the cancer cells is like, Oh, I'm going to get those evil cells.
  607. 47:38And I said, the cells were just following the instructions that came from your consciousness.
  608. 47:43You don't want evil cells and change the evil thoughts coming from your consciousness.
  609. 47:47The cancer disappears.
  610. 47:49So it's a power that we have.
  611. 47:53It's a power of our creativity, which we don't believe in.
  612. 47:55And I go, okay,
  613. 47:59Quantum physics is the most valid, truthful science in the sense that the theoretical understanding of quantum physics matches every experiment that has been understood about it.
  614. 48:10I go, so?
  615. 48:11I go, well, let me tell you the first principle of quantum physics.
  616. 48:15That principle is consciousness is creating our life experiences.
  617. 48:21You want to change your life experiences?
  618. 48:23Don't change the world.
  619. 48:25change the consciousness, the world will change behind that.
  620. 48:30So to go about wanting to manifest material abundance in your life is perhaps not the right way to go about it because you're concentrating on the outermost layer of abundance.
  621. 48:48And even if you manage to manifest abundance on the outer level,
  622. 48:55it's not going to give you the true feeling of abundance.
  623. 48:59It's not, in other words, it's not going to make you happy.
  624. 49:04It's not going to fulfill you, except for a few days.
  625. 49:07The new possession, nice and shiny, whatever it is, and there you look at it, got it now, it's mine.
  626. 49:16And after a few days or a week or two, or give it a month, it wears off.
  627. 49:24Hmm.
  628. 49:27it's no longer that fulfilling to be driving the Ferrari or whatever it is.
  629. 49:31There's nothing wrong with the Ferrari, but if you're looking to the Ferrari for happiness and fulfillment and to give you the feeling of, it's not going to work for that long.
  630. 49:44If you're just driving it because you enjoy that experience, that's a different matter.
  631. 49:49Manifest abundance from the inside out, not from the outside as hoping that you go,
  632. 49:56find some inner state through external things.
  633. 50:00That is a dilemma of many people who practice manifesting, which of course manifesting is something that you can use and it works if it's done rightly.
  634. 50:20But the dilemma or the fallacy is
  635. 50:25the belief that whatever you manifest is going to make you happy.
  636. 50:31It's to seek the fullness of life through what you manifest, through things.
  637. 50:39I have worked so hard in getting people to the point where they can forget about themselves and become nobody, no one, no thing, nowhere, in no time.
  638. 50:50People, when they finally get this, when they finally realize that when they're that, they're pure consciousness and they're connected to the field, and then they start putting their attention on that frequency of oneness and wholeness and tune into it and pay attention to it and stay present with it and become more aware of it and experience it and feel it moment after moment after moment.
  639. 51:13How much of people's waking day do they put their attention on the field and how much do they put their attention on matter?
  640. 51:20I'd say 100% of the time they put their attention on matter.
  641. 51:24Now our students are connecting to a greater frequency.
  642. 51:28They know how to get beyond themselves.
  643. 51:29They can sit for extended periods of time.
  644. 51:31They can lock in.
  645. 51:32They can experience.
  646. 51:35If they're connecting to that level of frequency called the quantum field where they're experiencing something cool, something greater, that you can't experience with your senses, as you evolve and unfold deeper into it, you experience less separation and more oneness and wholeness.
  647. 51:51And the more connected you are to it, the less distance between you as a consciousness
  648. 51:57free-willed individual and the consciousness of the objective unified field.
  649. 52:03The closer you are to it, the shorter amount of time it's going to take for it to appear in your life.
  650. 52:08Because you're outside the fundamental rules of Newtonian physics and 3D reality.
  651. 52:14You're changing the field and the changes matter instantaneously.
  652. 52:18So now we're seeing it happen in a shorter amount of time because we're getting better at it.
  653. 52:23We're connecting to that field more.
  654. 52:26And I know this to be the case because when I witness it in week-long events,
  655. 52:33I know the moment.
  656. 52:35I can tell you when the energy shifts in the room and now I know it's going to be fun.
  657. 52:40Now I know, get ready because the miracles are happening.
  658. 52:43It'll happen in one week.
  659. 52:45You tell me how a tumor can disappear on a person's thyroid.
  660. 52:49Not one, not two.
  661. 52:50You tell me how a man with a stroke who's been paralyzed in his arm and leg that's in his 70s, paralyzed for years and now lifting his arm above his head.
  662. 52:59How?
  663. 52:59How do you explain that?
  664. 53:01He didn't do that matter to matter.
  665. 53:02He didn't change his diet.
  666. 53:04He didn't do physical therapy.
  667. 53:07He didn't try to have a good attitude and think positively.
  668. 53:09There was none of that.
  669. 53:13Something in the field changed.
  670. 53:15And the pattern of that condition in the field changed.
  671. 53:20So it is happening in a shorter amount of time.
  672. 53:23There is no rule.
  673. 53:25It's about the person's ability to pay attention and to focus, to be greater than their body, their environment, and time.
  674. 53:32It's their sincerity.
  675. 53:34It's the engagement when they go sit down and do it.
  676. 53:38They're not doing, oh man, I got to do this.
  677. 53:40That's the wrong attitude.
  678. 53:41Nothing's going to happen then.
  679. 53:43You get there like, I'm going to connect with the divine.
  680. 53:45This is going to be a great day.
  681. 53:46I'm going to keep my energy up.
  682. 53:48I'm not getting up until I feel like I'm empowered.
  683. 53:52that person's gonna have a rockin' day.
  684. 53:54They're gonna have a good day.
  685. 53:55You know the movie The Matrix?
  686. 53:57Yeah.
  687. 53:58Well, it's not science fiction, folks.
  688. 54:02The Matrix is a documentary.
  689. 54:04What do you mean documentary?
  690. 54:05I said, what's the premise?
  691. 54:07Oh, the premise is everybody's been programmed.
  692. 54:09I go, well, that's a fact of life.
  693. 54:12Every human has been programmed.
  694. 54:13It's the way nature designs how you can become a member of a family and a community.
  695. 54:18Okay, and I go, so everybody's been programmed.
  696. 54:20I go, yeah.
  697. 54:21Oh, in the movie, you could take a red pill and get out of the program.
  698. 54:28Oh.
  699. 54:29Most of you actually have taken the red pill, and you did get out of the program.
  700. 54:35Not necessarily for a long time, but you stepped out.
  701. 54:38I said, what was that red pill?
  702. 54:40You ready?
  703. 54:42When you fell in love with somebody.
  704. 54:43I go, what do you mean?
  705. 54:45I go, your life was blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
  706. 54:50You meet somebody.
  707. 54:5224 hours later, your attitude is, oh, life's beautiful, man.
  708. 54:59I love life.
  709. 55:01Food is great.
  710. 55:02You know, the music's great.
  711. 55:04The sex is wonderful.
  712. 55:06Everything is great.
  713. 55:08I'm so in love.
  714. 55:10I go, how'd you do that after blah, blah, blah, blah in just 24 hours?
  715. 55:17Science has recognized that when you fall in love, you stop thinking.
  716. 55:23You stay what is called mindful.
  717. 55:26You are what is called staying present.
  718. 55:30What was the point?
  719. 55:32You stopped thinking and you kept your consciousness right there in the front.
  720. 55:37Why?
  721. 55:38Well, you've been waiting for this person your whole life and then they show up.
  722. 55:42This is not the time to think and disconnect.
  723. 55:44This is time to be there.
  724. 55:46So you stop thinking.
  725. 55:47Then what?
  726. 55:48You stop playing the program first time in your life.
  727. 55:52Stop playing it dead right out.
  728. 55:54I said, what happened?
  729. 55:56Well, now you're creating from what?
  730. 55:58Not subconscious.
  731. 56:00Creating from the conscious.
  732. 56:01What's that?
  733. 56:02Wishes and desires.
  734. 56:04So what is the honeymoon?
  735. 56:05Heaven on earth.
  736. 56:07Oh, guess what the jokey part here is.
  737. 56:12You could have that every day.
  738. 56:14It's your damn program that takes you away from it.
  739. 56:17It's not that you can't have it.
  740. 56:18All you have to do is stop playing the program and then you start, you got the control back again.
  741. 56:23And the issue about that is we can change those programs.
  742. 56:31And we can take power back by rewriting programs.
  743. 56:34What if your programs actually reflected the same thing that you have as wishes and desires in your conscious mind?
  744. 56:42Think about for one second.
  745. 56:43What if my conscious mind's wishes and desires were also programs in my subconscious mind?
  746. 56:49You ready?
  747. 56:51Whether you're thinking or whether you're awake, guess what?
  748. 56:59you're going to be going to the same wishes and desires.
  749. 57:02All of a sudden, it says, what does that mean?
  750. 57:05It says simply this.
  751. 57:07It says that when you stop thinking, you are playing from wishes and desires.
  752. 57:16When you are thinking, you play from program.
  753. 57:18But if your program is the same wish and desire, then it doesn't make a difference if you're thinking or you're not thinking.
  754. 57:24Why?
  755. 57:24You're still going to the same place.
  756. 57:27And I say, so what would that be?
  757. 57:29Oh, I'll give you an example.
  758. 57:30I'm doing it right now.
  759. 57:32What am I doing?
  760. 57:34I couldn't get a relationship off the ground for nearly 50 years until I rewrote those dysfunctional programs that I got from my father.
  761. 57:43And once I rewrote them, I was now available to have a love experience.
  762. 57:50And I met my partner Margaret, and guess what?
  763. 57:5228 years
  764. 57:55of everyday honeymoon.
  765. 57:58Every day, I always joke, every stinking day is honeymoon.
  766. 58:04And I love it, and I go, why?
  767. 58:06I live in a world like you do.
  768. 58:07It's crazy.
  769. 58:08All that stuff is going on out there.
  770. 58:10Does it come into my particular life?
  771. 58:12Absolutely not.
  772. 58:14Why?
  773. 58:15It's not in my creative vision.
  774. 58:17None of that stuff is there.
  775. 58:18Am I in the world?
  776. 58:20Yeah, but it's not necessarily not participating in all the other crazy people stuff.
  777. 58:25Why?
  778. 58:25Because those programs that would have engaged me have been rewritten.
  779. 58:32And now I have the power.
  780. 58:34And I say, so what did I do?
  781. 58:36Well, I chose honeymoon.
  782. 58:38Yeah, what was that?
  783. 58:39Wishes and desires.
  784. 58:41I need my story.
  785. 58:44All the things that I've been telling myself in my mind about myself and other people and my parents and my relatives and my coworkers and my ex-wife and my ex-husband and what people did to me or what I did and shouldn't have done, failed to do.
  786. 59:03Who am I without, I can't let go of that.
  787. 59:11I need to think about this more.
  788. 59:17So it becomes a habitual place, the habitual place of the mental noise where you feel that's me.
  789. 59:27And so every therapist knows that you always reach a point with your clients, patients, whatever, depending on the school of therapy, depends whatever you call your clients, your patients, whatever.
  790. 59:43There comes a point when you hit that resistance
  791. 59:47They don't want to be free of their problems.
  792. 59:52The big challenge is there, is this person going to overcome that barrier, because that barrier is not just becoming free of my problems,
  793. 1:00:07but also becoming free of a very limited and ultimately fictitious sense of identity, the me.
  794. 1:00:21So that is what I've described is the next step, one could say, in the evolution of human consciousness is
  795. 1:00:35stepping out of self-talk, which is the conditioned mind, and realizing there is much more to who I am than this conditioned content of my mind.
  796. 1:00:55And that is the beginning of awakening.
  797. 1:00:59It's not those words, not that you need to believe that there is much more to who I am than the self-talk in my head, because that is still self-talk in the head.
  798. 1:01:11I believe there's more to who I am
  799. 1:01:17and you better believe it too.
  800. 1:01:19Being victimized by a circumstance in your life literally means that that event, that circumstance, that person, that condition is actually causing you to feel emotionally
  801. 1:01:33And think in terms of memories equal to that circumstance.
  802. 1:01:38And that circumstance actually changes your state of being.
  803. 1:01:41So you're thinking the same way and you're feeling the same way and your response to the environment is the same.
  804. 1:01:48We can guarantee that your life is going to stay the same because you're the same.
  805. 1:01:52Yes, that person, why are you unhappy?
  806. 1:01:54Why are you frustrated?
  807. 1:01:55Why are you sad?
  808. 1:01:56And they'll say the this condition, this, this person is actually making me feel and think this way.
  809. 1:02:03Well, anything that makes us feel and think a certain way that we don't think we have any control over.
  810. 1:02:08For the most part, we're victims.
  811. 1:02:09So we're as a species become victimized by the conditions in our life.
  812. 1:02:13And it's the environment then that is controlling the way we feel and the way we think.
  813. 1:02:19So the idea is if you can change the way you think and change the way you feel, you're
  814. 1:02:24could you begin to produce outcomes or effects in your life that cause you to believe that you're the creator of your life instead of the victim of your life, which means then you would have to think greater than that circumstance and you would have to feel differently in the presence of that circumstance.
  815. 1:02:44And if you truly could,
  816. 1:02:47and begin to create an outcome the synchronicity the serendipity the coincidence that happens in your life you're going to pay attention to what you did and you're going to realize that on some level you had a hand in that you know that you were a participant in that our interest is to teach people how to to reverse that process
  817. 1:03:07Every person, every circumstance, every condition, every place, every object that you own is mapped neurologically in your brain.
  818. 1:03:14So your brain is a record of the past.
  819. 1:03:17It's an artifact, the repository of everything you've learned intellectually or experienced.
  820. 1:03:22And products of experience are called emotions.
  821. 1:03:24The memories that we have in our life produces familiar emotions or our response to anybody that we know in our life.
  822. 1:03:32There's a neurological network for your boss, for your coworker, for your ex, etc.
  823. 1:03:36And for most people, their interaction in the environment is causing their environment to control their thinking or their personal reality is controlling their personality.
  824. 1:03:48So, our interest is to see if your personality is made up of how you think, how you act, and how you feel.
  825. 1:03:55Is it possible if I begin to change the way I think, change the way I act, and change the way I feel, should my life change?
  826. 1:04:03Because I'm changing.
  827. 1:04:04And so the interest for us then is to be able to meet the challenges and conditions in our life from a greater level of consciousness and not be victimized by those circumstances, but to take time.
  828. 1:04:17And to review how you're going to think, how you're going to act and how you're going to feel, that's meditation.
  829. 1:04:22And review how you're not going to think, you know, how you're not going to act and how you're not going to feel.
  830. 1:04:29It just turns out that tends to be 95% of who we are as those unconscious programs.
  831. 1:04:33So it's so much easier to forget than to remember because it's the majority of who we are, you know.
  832. 1:04:40After a certain point in our life so changing that process the overcoming process of that same self Somehow begins to produce effects in people's lives and that's that's kind of the exciting part about being a creator of your life I was given an opportunity to go to San Francisco and
  833. 1:04:58and have a big presentation at a big conference on energy and crystals and stuff like that, and I thought, well, there's going to be an audience there, energy and crystals, like, okay, everything I'm talking about in biology, man, I was so excited.
  834. 1:05:11And I thought, this is my great opportunity, and it was like three months before, and I thought, okay, I'm going to work on this.
  835. 1:05:17And then I just let it go, I let it go, and now we're getting to a month before, and I said, oh, I gotta work on my, what's my seminar going to be, what's my seminar?
  836. 1:05:26And all I had in my head was, okay, this was a New Agey kind of thing, so I thought, well, back then, what the heck was New Agey?
  837. 1:05:34I said, oh, that's where they wear all white, white shirts and white pants and a white vest, white clothes, you know, and that they're so delicate and they speak in a very quiet tone, and they're so,
  838. 1:05:45New Age-y.
  839. 1:05:47And that really wasn't me.
  840. 1:05:48I was like the bull in the china shop.
  841. 1:05:50You know, it's like, hey, let me out!
  842. 1:05:52And he goes, no, no, I gotta calm down.
  843. 1:05:54I gotta be cool.
  844. 1:05:55I'm gonna present this in a New Age fashion.
  845. 1:05:58So I tried to formulate a New Age me to present this.
  846. 1:06:03Well, now it's about a week before this conference and it's like my new age me has not come up with any idea of how to present this.
  847. 1:06:11And then it started to get closer and it was just a few days away.
  848. 1:06:14I'm going to go to San Francisco.
  849. 1:06:15He's like, oh my God, I don't have a talk.
  850. 1:06:18And I just said, forget it.
  851. 1:06:20let me just be me, I just want to talk the way I want to talk, I'm not going to conform to be some new age guru, that's not me, I'm a science guy and I'm going to say what I want to say.
  852. 1:06:31And finally in that moment, it was just a couple of days before and all of a sudden I said, that's it, no more new age, let's write this.
  853. 1:06:39And the moment I let go of some persona I was supposed to be, and just said, now I'm just going to be me, all of a sudden the words started coming out.
  854. 1:06:49I can remember I grabbed a yellow pad and I had a pen, and the words started coming so fast, as soon as I said, stop being New Age guy, start being Bruce,
  855. 1:06:58the words started coming page after page.
  856. 1:06:59I was writing, I had like four or five pages of notes, notes, notes, notes.
  857. 1:07:03Like, after all those months, it was sort of like, okay, I was a little constipated in my consciousness, you know?
  858. 1:07:08But, it all of a sudden freed up, and it's why
  859. 1:07:13I am not them, I'm me.
  860. 1:07:17And to try to act like somebody else took away everything I was.
  861. 1:07:22And that was at the point that I said, oh my God, I'm not going to alter who I am.
  862. 1:07:28I love this research, I'm not going to tailor it for that audience.
  863. 1:07:33And it was so wonderful because there were three months where it was just
  864. 1:07:37Log in, back of my head, back of my head.
  865. 1:07:39Yeah, I got to do this, I got to do this.
  866. 1:07:41I didn't want to do it.
  867. 1:07:41Why?
  868. 1:07:41Because at some level, the first thing was, I'm going to be somebody else.
  869. 1:07:45I'm going to be Mr. New Age Guy.
  870. 1:07:48The moment I let go of being somebody else and became me, then all the words came down.
  871. 1:07:55I often say, say yes to the present moment.
  872. 1:07:59Or I say, make the present moment your friend, not your enemy.
  873. 1:08:05So to say yes to the present moment is a powerful teaching, but it can be misunderstood and has been misunderstood sometimes, and it needs to be explained what that actually means.
  874. 1:08:18It means, oh, by the way, there's a funny movie made a few, some years ago with Jim Carrey.
  875. 1:08:30It's called The Yes Man.
  876. 1:08:33And this is a person in the movie, the character he plays, he works at a bank, I think, in the mortgage department, and he's very bitter, and he likes to say no to people who apply for mortgages.
  877. 1:08:52No, you can't have it, he loves it.
  878. 1:08:53And he's very negative about everything.
  879. 1:08:56Now, his life is...
  880. 1:08:59everything is negative.
  881. 1:09:03Then he goes to a new age, a friend invites him to a strange new age event with a new age teacher, and the teacher says, you have to say yes, yes to everything, say yes to everything.
  882. 1:09:18And he kind of becomes convinced, well, I might as well try that, I've got nothing to lose.
  883. 1:09:27And from then on, whatever people ask him, every mortgage he approves.
  884. 1:09:32And whatever people ask him, can you lend me money?
  885. 1:09:35Sure, yes.
  886. 1:09:36Can you do this?
  887. 1:09:37Yes, yes, yes.
  888. 1:09:38And then his life becomes very interesting but also very chaotic.
  889. 1:09:43He gets into most chaotic situations and he kind of all gets out of hand.
  890. 1:09:53And in the end, he kind of seems to realize that this wasn't quite working.
  891. 1:10:01That is not the true meaning.
  892. 1:10:05So to say yes to the present moment does not mean that you accept everything that people ask of you.
  893. 1:10:12In some cases, you have to use the now, the no,
  894. 1:10:18but not in an angry way that denies the present moment.
  895. 1:10:29I call that a high quality no.
  896. 1:10:34So let's say in the orchestra, can you look after my children?
  897. 1:10:41Because I need your, you're so good with children.
  898. 1:10:45She'll flatter you, you feel obliged.
  899. 1:10:48You're such a wonderful person, I love you.
  900. 1:10:51Can you do it again, please?
  901. 1:10:52And at some point, I'm sorry, I can't do it anymore.
  902. 1:10:58But without...
  903. 1:11:00any negativity, a simple statement, it is not a reactive statement.
  904. 1:11:05You don't make her into a bad person.
  905. 1:11:09You want to take advantage of me, I'm not doing it anymore.
  906. 1:11:12That is a low quality no.
  907. 1:11:15Even if perhaps she did
  908. 1:11:19Perhaps she was trying to take advantage of you, but that is not, that may be then a dysfunction in her egoic self.
  909. 1:11:26Many humans do that.
  910. 1:11:28The world is full of people who perhaps are trying to take advantage of you.
  911. 1:11:32That's what the egos do.
  912. 1:11:34And so it is not who she truly is.
  913. 1:11:37But you speak to, you do not speak to the ego in her.
  914. 1:11:40You simply say,
  915. 1:11:42I love your children, they're just wonderful, and I enjoyed my time, but I can't do it anymore.
  916. 1:11:48I'm sorry about that.
  917. 1:11:49High quality, no, no, no, I can't do that.
  918. 1:11:53A person says, can you lend me another $1,000?
  919. 1:11:58Well, I've already lent you 2,000 three months ago, and last year I lent you 5,000.
  920. 1:12:08I haven't got anything back yet.
  921. 1:12:10And then it's, I'm sorry, I have to say no.
  922. 1:12:13But you don't say, you're just trying to use me and I'm not going to do that anymore.
  923. 1:12:23I'm not going to be used anymore by you.
  924. 1:12:25This is it, that's it, no more.
  925. 1:12:27That's another kind of no, but it's a low quality no.
  926. 1:12:32The high quality, no, I'm sorry, that's it.
  927. 1:12:34I can't do that anymore.
  928. 1:12:36It implies there's a presence behind what you say.
  929. 1:12:40It's not reactive.
  930. 1:12:43And with the same, the person who asked you to write something, you say, I've seen the background, I'm not in agreement with that.
  931. 1:12:49Therefore, I'm sorry, I need to say no to this.
  932. 1:12:54I can't do this, thank you.
  933. 1:12:56High quality, no, it's beautiful and it works quite often.
  934. 1:13:01You may have to use that, make sure that it's not reactive and then becomes low quality.
  935. 1:13:07If the person's doing the vision board and they're saying, when I get my new car, I get my new house, I get my new relationship, then I'm going to feel so great.
  936. 1:13:18Well, then they're back to the program waiting for it to happen for them to feel the emotion.
  937. 1:13:23They're believing their outer world has to change in order for them to feel better.
  938. 1:13:27There's no effect of drawing the experience to you with that way.
  939. 1:13:33So the person has to use those tools
  940. 1:13:37to get them into the emotional state for them to feel like it's already happened.
  941. 1:13:42Now think about this.
  942. 1:13:44If you get up from a creative process and you feel grateful, you feel a love for life, you feel a joy for existence, you feel a passion for the moment,
  943. 1:14:01you will not be looking for your future because you'll feel like it's already happened.
  944. 1:14:08It's the moment that we start feeling those self-limiting emotions that we feel separation, and then we start looking for it again.
  945. 1:14:15Well, then, if you're waiting, you're not creating, you're in separation again.
  946. 1:14:19So then...
  947. 1:14:22Whatever it takes for you to move into a state of being.
  948. 1:14:26And what is a state of being?
  949. 1:14:28Thoughts are the vocabulary of the brain.
  950. 1:14:30Feelings are the vocabulary of your body.
  951. 1:14:33How you think and how you feel creates your state of being.
  952. 1:14:37So then if you wake up in the morning and you...
  953. 1:14:39come back to your senses with a clean slate and you say, I don't feel anything.
  954. 1:14:43And you say, well, let me start thinking about all the problems in my life.
  955. 1:14:46Well, all those problems are connected to different people or different objects of things at different times and places.
  956. 1:14:51The moment you remember your problems, a memory is a record of the past.
  957. 1:14:54You're thinking in the past.
  958. 1:14:56Every one of those problems has an emotion associated with them.
  959. 1:14:59So all of a sudden you start feeling unhappy.
  960. 1:15:00You start feeling bitter.
  961. 1:15:01You start feeling frustrated.
  962. 1:15:03So now your body's in the past.
  963. 1:15:05So then most people then...
  964. 1:15:07create a state of being that's connected to their past.
  965. 1:15:10And if they're in the familiar past, then they are going to crave the predictable future and they're going to fall back into routine.
  966. 1:15:17So then we want people then to get very clear on that vision of their future, however they do it.
  967. 1:15:24and begin to combine that clear intention with an elevated emotion.
  968. 1:15:29And the stronger the emotion they feel from the vision they're creating, the more altered they feel inside of them, the more they're going to pay attention to the pictures in their mind.
  969. 1:15:38And now they're remembering their future and biologically.
  970. 1:15:41It's exactly the same as remembering your past.
  971. 1:15:44In fact, if you're not being defined by a vision in the future, it means you're making your past more real than your future.
  972. 1:15:52You're falling in love with your past.
  973. 1:15:53You're more in love with your past than you are with your future.
  974. 1:15:56That you're believing in your past more than you're believing in your future.
  975. 1:15:59When you get to that moment where you have that feeling of,
  976. 1:16:04That's your compass because that feeling is going to drive your behaviors.
  977. 1:16:09It's going to drive more of those thoughts.
  978. 1:16:11And when you feel that feeling and it's visceral, no person, no thing, no experience will stand in the way between you and that vision.
  979. 1:16:21And you will be initiated by the universe into wealth.
  980. 1:16:25You will be initiated into health.
  981. 1:16:28You'll be initiated into freedom.
  982. 1:16:29Those people, all those people that have healed themselves of all those different health conditions,
  983. 1:16:35they are so humble and so happy and they feel so great that they would never trade this feeling because of what you thought of them.
  984. 1:16:46They've left that program behind a long time ago.
  985. 1:16:49They actually don't care how you think of them.
  986. 1:16:51They actually are so happy with themselves that they're no longer dependent on anything outside of them.
  987. 1:16:57Now, I think that's a really important moment because that's the moment we give people permission in our lives to do the same, right?
  988. 1:17:05I think that more and more people are beginning to figure that out.
  989. 1:17:0995% of the day, you are not operating from the conscious mind.
  990. 1:17:14Science has recognized 95% of the day, because we are thinking 95% of the day, our behavior is now controlled by the subconscious mind.
  991. 1:17:26I go, okay, so what's the difference?
  992. 1:17:28And the final conclusion of this is
  993. 1:17:31The conscious mind with your creativity has your wishes and your desires.
  994. 1:17:36The subconscious mind was programmed by other people.
  995. 1:17:41Your mother, your father, your siblings and your community.
  996. 1:17:45So what is the difference?
  997. 1:17:46You wake up with a wish and a desire of what you want and then the rest of the day
  998. 1:17:52you play the programs that you got from other people that don't answer your wishes and don't support your desires and all you see is the consequence of it and go, oh my God, why is it not working?
  999. 1:18:05And the answer is because you don't see, because remember the name is subconscious, below conscious.
1000. 1:18:14So when that behavior is playing, psychologists will tell us 70% or more
1001. 1:18:22of the programs in the subconscious are disempowering, self-sabotaging, and limiting behaviors.
1002. 1:18:30So the simple reality is this.
1003. 1:18:32We have great wishes and desires and yet our life is not controlled by that.
1004. 1:18:36Our life is controlled by the programming.
1005. 1:18:38And that programming is the disempowering program.
1006. 1:18:42So all you see is the consequence of the invisible subconscious which will sabotage all the desires and wishes you have.
1007. 1:18:51And then to conclude that, what if you just didn't default to the subconscious?
1008. 1:18:57What if you just stayed in the conscious mind?
  1009. 1:19:00That's called being mindful.
1010. 1:19:02And why is it relevant?
1011. 1:19:04Because when you stay conscious, keep your mind present,
1012. 1:19:10You are the creator of your life.
1013. 1:19:13And when people are in mindfulness, they manifest their wishes, their desires, and their happiness.
  1014. 1:19:19So for all of us, it's sort of a wake-up call.
1015. 1:19:22You think you're running your life with your wishes and desires?
  1016. 1:19:25It's an illusion.
1017. 1:19:26You're really running your life with your programs acquired from other people.
1018. 1:19:32Most of the time, there is a voice in your head that comments and has opinions and viewpoints and interpretations about what's going on in your life.
1019. 1:19:44I call that the voice in the head.
1020. 1:19:47For most humans, that is completely involuntary.
1021. 1:19:51They don't even know that they have a voice in the head that never stops talking.
  1022. 1:19:59Most of the time,
  1023. 1:20:01silently in your head.
1024. 1:20:04At other times, it may even shout something out, so it wants to be heard.
1025. 1:20:11And so, if you walk in the street, you will find most people look fairly sane.
1026. 1:20:18They're not talking to themselves, it seems, because they're not talking out loud.
1027. 1:20:24But if you listened into everybody's head, you would be amazed of how noisy the inside of every human is.
1028. 1:20:34It's like, you know these radio stations where the people talk in an excited voice.
1029. 1:20:42They go on and on.
1030. 1:20:44If you go to a foreign country and you don't know what they're talking about, you might think this must be extremely important.
1031. 1:20:51But if you can understand what they're saying, you realize it's completely meaningless.
  1032. 1:20:56It's just noise.
1033. 1:20:59So a significant part of what happens in your mind, the larger part, is actually just superfluous noise.
  1034. 1:21:12Thinking is a wonderful ability, a wonderful tool.
1035. 1:21:16If used rightly, it is an instrument that causes
1036. 1:21:23dysfunction and misery for millions on the planet, unhappiness for millions on the planet if thinking is not used, but if you are used by thought.
1037. 1:21:39So when humans say, I think, in most cases, that's actually not true because they have no control over their thinking.
  1038. 1:21:49It's compulsive and involuntary.
1039. 1:21:53And they are so identified with these thought processes, they don't even know
1040. 1:22:00that they are in the grip of their thought processes because they are so identified, they become their thought processes.
1041. 1:22:08So whatever comes into your head, you completely believe in it, and then you, yeah, that's how it is.
  1042. 1:22:14Whenever you feel
1043. 1:22:17Unhappiness, this is a generic term, unhappiness in whatever form.
1044. 1:22:22Unhappiness can arise as irritation, can arise as anger, can arise as even boredom is a form of unhappiness, sadness,
1045. 1:22:37All kinds of states, they don't feel pleasant, they do unhappiness, and usually they are attributed to a life situation, something that's going on in your life.
1046. 1:22:50So for example, waiting at the airline counter, and of course how often things don't go well there.
1047. 1:22:59Let's hope they don't drag you out of the plane, but that could happen too.
1048. 1:23:07Whenever you feel irritation arising, anger arising, upset in whatever form, ask yourself, is this caused by the situation, or is it caused by what my mind is telling me about the situation?
  1049. 1:23:25And in 95% of cases,
1050. 1:23:28you will find that the mental commentary that argues and complains about something that's going on but should not be going on, but it is, but shouldn't be, and the gap between what is and what the mind says should be or should not be, that gap is the arising of unhappiness and misery.
1051. 1:23:56Or is the Buddha called suffering?
1052. 1:23:58I think we're living in such an amazing time right now.
1053. 1:24:03I mean, if you are not being challenged in some way in your life, you're not alive.
1054. 1:24:08And all of this is an initiation.
1055. 1:24:13And I don't believe that you have to go to any school of ancient wisdom perched in the Himalayas, or for information or training any longer.
1056. 1:24:22If you see your life,
1057. 1:24:24as the school, as the initiation, then you can no longer be a victim to your life.
1058. 1:24:29You're going to have to meet the challenges in your life from a greater level of mind, greater than the mind that created it.
1059. 1:24:37And so there have been plenty of peer reviewed articles on the power of peace gathering projects that lower crime, that lower trauma incidences of death and economic growth.
1060. 1:24:50It's all related to what's happening right now for us.
1061. 1:24:55And it's not enough though for us to just focus on peace and expect the world to change because in the peace gathering projects, when the event was over, a lot of the crime and violence returned back to its ceiling level again.
1062. 1:25:13It's more important for us
1063. 1:25:16not only to embody that peace and feel it, but then to demonstrate it.
1064. 1:25:22And when we begin to demonstrate it, I think we give people permission to do the same.
1065. 1:25:28That means that we can't be preaching peace and then be stuck in traffic and, you know, flipping people off.
1066. 1:25:35You know, or arguing with your coworker.
1067. 1:25:37You don't get to stand up for peace if you have conflict in your life.
1068. 1:25:42So when we start, I believe, start that self-contemplative process of looking within, and instead of judging someone or something, look to see if there's an aspect of ourselves within that person or within that situation that we may need to change.
1069. 1:25:57And if we're all doing that at the same time, something greater, a greater consciousness is going to emerge.
1070. 1:26:04And so I believe that it should never be about a person.
1071. 1:26:09It should be about principles.
1072. 1:26:11And when we stand up for principles, that creates community.
1073. 1:26:15Because you could be one belief or another belief, but if you're sharing the same principles, which are joy and freedom and cooperation and connection, that's what builds communities.
  1074. 1:26:26So then...
1075. 1:26:28Everything in our world right now is reminding us of separation, whether it's war, whether it's violence, whether it's political deceit, whether it's prejudice, all of those things cause us to live by those stress hormones, and when we're living in that state of survival, we're not trusting, and we become more selfish.
1076. 1:26:49So then, starting our day asking ourselves, what would be the greatest expression of myself I'd like to present to the world?
1077. 1:26:57And then making the choice to not get up until we are that person, I think that begins to demonstrate greatness.
1078. 1:27:05And when there is adversity, and when there are challenges in our life, the question of course becomes, how do we become supernatural?
1079. 1:27:14And that means we're gonna have to do what feels unnatural at first.
1080. 1:27:18When everybody else is in poverty and lack, that's the time to give.
1081. 1:27:24When everybody else is in fear and vigilance, that's the time to show courage.
1082. 1:27:29When people are angry and hating and prejudiced, that's the time to show compassion.
1083. 1:27:33When people are competing to rush to get to the top, that's the time to change your energy and draw the experience to you.
1084. 1:27:40And if you keep doing what's unnatural over and over again, sooner or later, you're going to become supernatural.
1085. 1:27:47Your life, 95%, is coming from the program.
1086. 1:27:52Your life is a printout of your programs.
1087. 1:27:56You just look at your life and recognize simple fact.
1088. 1:27:59The things that you like that come into your life, they come in because you have a program to acknowledge those things.
1089. 1:28:07The things you wish, desire, want in your life, and you work hard to make them happen.
1090. 1:28:12You struggle, you sweat over it.
1091. 1:28:14I'm putting a lot of effort in, I'm gonna make this happen.
1092. 1:28:17Why are you working so hard?
1093. 1:28:19And the answer is whatever that destination is, your program doesn't support it.
1094. 1:28:25And you're trying to use your conscious creative mind to override the program.
1095. 1:28:30I say, yeah, my conscious mind is 5%, program is 95%, I go,
1096. 1:28:34It's not going to work very well at all.
1097. 1:28:37So that's why poor people stay poor and rich people stay rich.
  1098. 1:28:40Yep.
1099. 1:28:41That's why the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
1100. 1:28:42That was exactly what the whole point was.
1101. 1:28:44If you grew up with the programming of a rich family, you don't have to think programming is subconscious.
1102. 1:28:49Your thinking might be quite stupid.
1103. 1:28:51I mean, a former president of ours was a relatively rich person, but not very smart in his conscious mind.
1104. 1:28:57But his program was how I got rich by what he downloaded that from his family.
  1105. 1:29:02Okay.
1106. 1:29:03And if you're in a poor family, what did you download?
  1107. 1:29:06Oh, life's a struggle.
  1108. 1:29:07I can't get there.
1109. 1:29:08As you know, you can change it.
  1110. 1:29:10I say, yeah.
1111. 1:29:11How can you change it?
1112. 1:29:12Remember, I said, well, there are two minds.
1113. 1:29:14Conscious is creative, wishes and desires.
1114. 1:29:16Subconscious is hard drive with a program.
1115. 1:29:19I say, the conscious mind being creative can learn from anything.
  1116. 1:29:22Read a self-help book.
  1117. 1:29:23Oh, yeah.
1118. 1:29:23I know how to do that.
1119. 1:29:25I said, you read the book.
  1120. 1:29:26I give you a quiz.
  1121. 1:29:26You get 100.
1122. 1:29:27And it says, yeah, you know this stuff.
1123. 1:29:30And then I say, well, now that you know this stuff, did your life change?
1124. 1:29:33And the answer is no.
  1125. 1:29:35I go, why?
1126. 1:29:37The conscious mind learned from reading the book.
1127. 1:29:39That's not how the subconscious mind learned.
1128. 1:29:40So our smarts stay up here.
  1129. 1:29:43I read the book.
  1130. 1:29:44I knew the information.
1131. 1:29:45I understood how it worked, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
1132. 1:29:47I go, yeah, that's the thinking mind.
  1133. 1:29:50That knows everything.
1134. 1:29:51But I go, does that translate into subconscious?
1135. 1:29:53I go, no, it doesn't, because that's not how the subconscious mind learns.
1136. 1:29:57You want to change the subconscious, then you have to put in the data the way the subconscious mind learns.
1137. 1:30:01Conscious mind creative can learn from anything.
1138. 1:30:03You could just go, aha, I just changed my mind.
1139. 1:30:06I can do that, okay?
  1140. 1:30:08Subconscious mind, habit.
  1141. 1:30:09Point of habit, habit.
  1142. 1:30:11It resists change.
1143. 1:30:13If a habit changes, then by definition, it's not a habit anymore.
1144. 1:30:17So habits resist change, and yet we have these habits, and we want to change them.
1145. 1:30:21I say, well, how can you do it?
1146. 1:30:21And I say, the only way you can change the habits is the way that the habits were learned in the first place.
1147. 1:30:28I go, well, what was that?
1148. 1:30:29I said, first seven years, your brain was at a lower vibration than consciousness.
  1149. 1:30:33It was called theta.
  1150. 1:30:35Theta is hypnosis.
1151. 1:30:37And I go, oh, so what do I do?
1152. 1:30:38I say, well, you can't just say, okay, I want to go into hypnosis.
1153. 1:30:43Hypnosis is part of a scale of low vibration going to high during the day.
1154. 1:30:47And then when you come home from work, the high vibration slows down and goes to sleep at the lowest vibration.
1155. 1:30:51So you go through a range of different vibrations as you're sleeping, awakening, calm, conscious.
1156. 1:30:58focus conscious you're at work focus conscious and i go then what you come home you calm down now it's calm conscious and then i say what then you fall asleep i say the instant you fall asleep the next vibration down is theta i go that's hypnosis i go yeah so i say then every night
1157. 1:31:18The moment you fall asleep, the brain for a short period of time is in hypnosis theta.
  1158. 1:31:24So I say, so what?
1159. 1:31:25Well, you put on earphones or earplugs and you go to bed playing a program that you want to be true in your life.
  1160. 1:31:33I say, so what?
1161. 1:31:34I say, you put it on just before you fall asleep.
1162. 1:31:37And while you're still awake, you probably hear some of the program, okay?
1163. 1:31:41But the moment you fall asleep, conscious mind's disconnected, doesn't hear anything coming off of the program anymore.
1164. 1:31:47I say, but what does?
  1165. 1:31:48I say, ah,
1166. 1:31:50the subconscious mind is in theta, record.
1167. 1:31:53So whatever's coming through the earphones is not going into conscious mind, but it's now being directly downloaded into the subconscious.
  1168. 1:32:01So this is called self-hypnosis.
1169. 1:32:03You have to repeat this process because the amount of time in theta is relatively short before you hit the lowest vibration, delta, which is sleep outright, okay?
1170. 1:32:13So every night when you go to bed, just after your consciousness falls asleep, there's a period of record opportunity.
1171. 1:32:19And then we put the earphones on, play the program.
  1172. 1:32:21It's called self-hypnosis.
  1173. 1:32:23That's hypnosis.
1174. 1:32:24You're doing it yourself, okay?
1175. 1:32:26Number two, you still learn programs after age seven.
1176. 1:32:29You learn how to drive a car.
1177. 1:32:31You learn how to play an instrument.
1178. 1:32:32I go, well, how'd you do it that way?
  1179. 1:32:34And I go, repetition.
1180. 1:32:37Habituation is practicing something and repeating it and repeating it so many times that the subconscious finally says, okay, I got a pattern.
  1181. 1:32:46I got the pattern.
1182. 1:32:47And that pattern then becomes the habit.
1183. 1:32:49You need to realize most humans have this inbuilt dysfunction.
1184. 1:32:53They cannot acknowledge the present moment.
1185. 1:32:58Unconsciously, they regard the next moment whether it's a minute from now
1186. 1:33:05or an hour from now or two years from now, always regard it as more important.
1187. 1:33:11Whenever you are impatient, trying to get somewhere, waiting for something impatiently, what's the next thing I have to do?
1188. 1:33:19And now I have to do that.
1189. 1:33:21And you're pulled in all kinds of directions.
  1190. 1:33:23What's now?
1191. 1:33:24Oh, now I have to do that and that and that.
1192. 1:33:26And there's always the pull towards the next thing.
1193. 1:33:33That is, I call that sometimes, you lose yourself in doing.
1194. 1:33:41Doing is necessary, obviously, you need to do, but to lose yourself in continuous doing is a serious dysfunction, but it's so normal that nobody realizes it.
1195. 1:33:55So if you lose yourself in the doing, there's always another, and this is how stress arises.
1196. 1:34:03Stress is the gap, in the gap between now and later, the projected then, now and then, in that gap arises, the stress arises.
1197. 1:34:19So the mental projection towards future creates the stresses between I'm here, but I want to be there.
1198. 1:34:28And for many humans, that is their predominant
1199. 1:34:32They are always, they are here, but they really want to be there, either there in space or time.
1200. 1:34:44It's amazing, and even you, awakening beings, may still,
1201. 1:34:50Sometimes, or often, find yourself in that state where you'd suddenly realize that the whole day you've been stressed about this, that, and that, and that.
1202. 1:35:02It's the world that makes so many demands upon you.
1203. 1:35:04You need to deal with this and this and this.
1204. 1:35:07Amplified by the gadgets that we now use, which is an amplification of the dysfunction through this,
1205. 1:35:17And you lose yourself in the doing.
1206. 1:35:19You become completely uncentered and basically lost.
1207. 1:35:29It happens even to children already at an early age these days.
1208. 1:35:35And many children are suffering from attention deficit disorder and so on, which means their mind is being pulled away from the present moment.
  1209. 1:35:47So lost in doing.
1210. 1:35:49Lost in doing really comes back to lost in thinking.
  1211. 1:35:56Thinking underlies doing.
1212. 1:35:59So you are lost in your thoughts about the world.
1213. 1:36:05And then you engage in all kinds of activities propelled by
1214. 1:36:12thought that now I need to do this, now I need to do that.
1215. 1:36:16So the basic condition still for most humans on the planet, so fundamentally, yes, they are lost in doing, they lose themselves in doing, but basically it means they are lost in their mind, in the movement of thought.
  1216. 1:36:34What now?
1217. 1:36:36You identify then, they identify with every thought that arises.
1218. 1:36:41Many thoughts are about future or the past.
1219. 1:36:46Not that many thoughts are about the present moment.
1220. 1:36:49And if they are about the present moment, then it is an interpretation of the present moment that is completely determined and colored by your past conditioning.
1221. 1:37:02So very interesting to observe in oneself this tendency to deny
1222. 1:37:13devalue, disregard, reduce the present moment to a means to an end.
1223. 1:37:22It's always a means to an end, but it's not recognized for what it is in itself.
1224. 1:37:30And often it is more than a means to an end for many humans.
1225. 1:37:36This is a very dysfunctional way of being.
1226. 1:37:39For many humans, the present moment is actually regarded unconsciously as an obstacle that they need to get beyond.
  1227. 1:37:51There's a continuous underlying unease.
1228. 1:38:00And what's the next thing that's going to go wrong?
  1229. 1:38:03I know it's going to happen.
1230. 1:38:09lost in the mind, lost in thought.
1231. 1:38:14There was an Indian teacher who described the essential human condition as lost in thought.
1232. 1:38:22And of course, that's how it is.
1233. 1:38:25This is then, this movement of thought,
1234. 1:38:29gives you your sense of identity, the uneasy narrative, the problematic narrative of me and my life.
1235. 1:38:41I have to think about this when I wake up in the middle of the night and I carry this heavy burden of my problematic life.
1236. 1:38:50For many humans, their identity is unconsciously regarded as a problem to be solved.
1237. 1:38:58I am a problem that I'm looking for a solution to this problem that I am.
1238. 1:39:09And of course, then you go to a therapist.
1239. 1:39:12Now, if the therapist is good, he might be able to take you beyond that.
  1240. 1:39:20Depends.
1241. 1:39:21If he or she is not good, then you get more deeply entrenched, and 15 years later, you are still undergoing psychoanalysis and find ever deeper layers of complexity in your past, and there's no end to it.
1242. 1:39:41So the present moment is devalue, not recognized.
1243. 1:39:49regarded either as a means to an end or an obstacle.
1244. 1:39:55That is, for many humans, that is their predominant state of mental, emotional state.
1245. 1:40:03And as I said, their identity is derived from that.
  1246. 1:40:07The error lies in
  1247. 1:40:14Identification with thought.
1248. 1:40:18Now, the question arises, who or what is it that identifies with thought?
1249. 1:40:25If I am not the story that I tell myself about who I am, if I am not ultimately that, then who or what am I?
1250. 1:40:38And what is it in me that identifies with the story?
1251. 1:40:45What is it that creates this sense of identity that is mostly, exists mostly in a state of unease or very often discontent because it cannot acknowledge the present moment.
1252. 1:41:08That is the ego, by the way, that's what we call it, the egoic sense of self.
1253. 1:41:17As a very simple spiritual practice to get you to the realization of who or what it is that identifies, I suggest at this moment that
1254. 1:41:28Observe yourself internally right now to see if there's any lingering emotion in you perhaps from earlier today or an hour ago or yesterday or the past two years or the past
1255. 1:41:5410 years, is there any, and can you feel, for example, is there an irritation somewhere?
1256. 1:42:02Is there some kind of anxiety?
1257. 1:42:08Is there kind of heaviness, a certain heavy mood, a despondent mood perhaps, is it lingering there?
1258. 1:42:21Is there anger, big thing, some residue of anger from what happened earlier?
  1259. 1:42:30Is that in you?
1260. 1:42:31And then normally humans would say, I am angry.
1261. 1:42:36Or they would say, I am anxious, I'm fearful, I am in a bad mood.
1262. 1:42:46Now, there's already a delusion when the moment you say, I am angry or I am anxious, that indicates already that you have identified with the emotion of anger or the emotion of sadness or the emotion of fear.
1263. 1:43:09you have identified, you equate I with what arises in your field of consciousness.
  1264. 1:43:16So you say, I'm angry.
1265. 1:43:18It would be more correct to say, there is anger in me right now.
1266. 1:43:25Now, it may sound a trivial difference between saying I am angry and there's anger in me, but there's a significant difference which goes beyond mere syntax, how you put words together, because when you say I am, you equate I with whatever condition is there in you.
1267. 1:43:48This applies to emotion, and it also applies to thought.
1268. 1:43:52when, because anger is often, it's not just the anger as emotion, the anger also exists as angry thoughts.
1269. 1:44:02And then they reinforce each other as a vicious circle.
1270. 1:44:08When you are trapped in irritation or anger, the emotion feeds the thought and the thought feeds more energy to the emotion.
  1271. 1:44:18It's a vicious circle.
1272. 1:44:21and you don't want to get out of it.
1273. 1:44:22You might notice when you observe an angry person or a despondent person or an anxious person, they don't really want to be free of the anger.
1274. 1:44:37If you suggested to an angry person, you can be free, you will not get a pleasant answer.
1275. 1:44:45And you've seen angry people who, they are in the grip of anger or irritation, they cannot help it, then they shout at you and then they leave the room and a minute later the door opens, they come back because there's sort of something else to insult you with.
1276. 1:45:02They are in the grip of it.
1277. 1:45:05There is complete identification with thought and emotion.
1278. 1:45:12They are lost in thought.
1279. 1:45:15They are lost in emotion.
1280. 1:45:16But who or what is it that is lost?
1281. 1:45:21If I am not the thoughts and the emotion, who or what am I?
  1282. 1:45:25Okay.
1283. 1:45:28I just asked you to just,
1284. 1:45:31Have a look inside yourself and see what it is, if there's anything there that's jarring and doesn't feel good, but it's there.
1285. 1:45:42And I'm not saying try to get rid of it, no.
  1286. 1:45:49Acknowledge the present moment.
1287. 1:45:51The present moment is what is, externally or internally.
  1288. 1:45:56That's what it is.
  1289. 1:45:58But there's a huge difference now.
1290. 1:46:00You've already, by recognizing that there is, let's say, irritation, anger, or anxiety in you, an additional element or dimension has come in.
1291. 1:46:14And that dimension we could call awareness, or we could call it presence.
1292. 1:46:21And the moment awareness comes in,
1293. 1:46:25you are no longer completely identified with it.
1294. 1:46:29One could say, I sometimes describe it as, let's say, there's the anger, and as your awareness of the anger comes in, there's a little bit of space around it.
  1295. 1:46:43That's the awareness.
  1296. 1:46:44The awareness knows that there's anger.
1297. 1:46:47The anger may still be there.
1298. 1:46:49It may not immediately disappear, but the awareness knows it's there.
1299. 1:46:55or whatever else it may be, the arising of awareness is spiritual awakening.
1300. 1:47:03The dis-identification that happens when awareness arises, that is the spiritual awakening or the arising of the transcendent dimension of consciousness.
1301. 1:47:17Transcendent because it transcends who
1302. 1:47:23or what you are as a person.
1303. 1:47:25I like to just get myself in my think box, organizing what am I not going to think about?
1304. 1:47:31What am I going to stay away from?
1305. 1:47:32What am I not going to do in my meditation?
  1306. 1:47:34Let me review that.
  1307. 1:47:35What am I going to do?
1308. 1:47:38And I get that all worked out, then I get in my play box.
1309. 1:47:40In my play box, there's no thinking.
1310. 1:47:42I've got all the thinking done in my think box.
1311. 1:47:44In my play box, it's really about me changing my state.
1312. 1:47:47And so I allow for two hours every morning.
1313. 1:47:50Doesn't mean I always take it or need it, let me say that.
  1314. 1:47:53But I allow for two hours.
1315. 1:47:54Sometimes I like to just get my mind straight and then I do the work.
1316. 1:48:00I do the work and I like to get to that point where when I'm done, I feel like something changed.
  1317. 1:48:07Do the work.
  1318. 1:48:08Yeah.
1319. 1:48:10What does the work look like?
  1320. 1:48:12It's meditation.
  1321. 1:48:13Yeah.
1322. 1:48:14It's finding the present moment, getting into the unknown.
1323. 1:48:17It's getting beyond myself, disconnecting from my body, getting beyond any thought of anyone or anything, getting beyond time, moving beyond space and time.
1324. 1:48:27Turns out when you focus on nothing, there are so many amazing things that happen to your brain.
1325. 1:48:33I've seen the scans over and over again.
1326. 1:48:36What have you seen in the scans?
1327. 1:48:39Well, there's this thing in the brain called modularity.
1328. 1:48:43And when we're living by the hormones of stress, and stress is when you can't predict something, when you can't control something, or you have the perception that something's going to get worse.
1329. 1:48:53You switch on that fight or flight nervous system, and the rush of those chemicals causes us to become alert, to become aroused.
1330. 1:49:01And we narrow our focus
  1331. 1:49:03on the material world.
1332. 1:49:04And so when you're not able to control everything in your life and you can't predict everything in your life, you start shifting your attention to everyone and everything, every person, every object, every place.
1333. 1:49:14And we've all had that experience when we're under stress.
1334. 1:49:16And every one of those people, those objects, those things, those places has a neurological network in the brain.
1335. 1:49:21So like a lightning storm in the clouds, the brain begins to fire out of order, very incoherently.
1336. 1:49:27It becomes modulated or compartmentalized.
  1337. 1:49:30It's a house divided against itself.
1338. 1:49:32And those individual compartments don't talk to the rest of the brain.
  1339. 1:49:36And we tend to get over-focused.
1340. 1:49:39You never notice when you're under stress, you're obsessing about something, you're over-focusing about something, you're overthinking something, you're over-analyzing, you're driving your brain higher and higher into higher states of arousal, high beta brainwave patterns.
1341. 1:49:53We discovered that if you teach a person to go from a narrow focus on something physical, something material, and broaden their focus, open their awareness and put their attention on space, on nothing, and create what's called a divergent focus, the act of sensing
1342. 1:50:09and no longer analyzing thinking begins to slow the brainwaves down from that beta brainwave state to a low-level beta, and then all of a sudden to alpha.
1343. 1:50:18If they keep doing it, sensing space tends to cause those different compartments that were modulated or divided to begin to synchronize.
1344. 1:50:28What sinks in the brain actually links in the brain, so the brain starts firing in a more holistic state.
1345. 1:50:33In other words, every single area of the brain is resonating at the same frequency, and now the brain is functioning as one neurological network instead of individuals.
1346. 1:50:43That kind of wholism, that kind of order feels really good.
  1347. 1:50:48It feels really good.
1348. 1:50:50And so people practice slowing their brainwaves down, not only to get beyond the analytical mind, but to cause the brain to fire in a more coherent way.
1349. 1:50:59And if we're going to have a clear intention about what we want, the more coherent the brain, the clearer the intention.
1350. 1:51:06So we've seen in seven days, even in four days,
1351. 1:51:09These dramatic changes in the levels of coherence and order that take place in the brain, the brain's firing in a more holistic state.
1352. 1:51:17That's when the person notices a change in their anxiety and their depression and their PTSD, whatever it is.
1353. 1:51:23There's more order in the brain.
1354. 1:51:25And the act of focusing on nothing and opening your awareness to space creates that kind of amazing change.
1355. 1:51:32A lack of knowledge is a lack of power.
  1356. 1:51:37And I say, you're suffering out here.
1357. 1:51:39Because you feel you have no power.
1358. 1:51:41And if you really understand the biology that we're talking about and the spirituality that you're talking about, and you start to recognize it, you recognize, oh my God, you are so powerful.
1359. 1:51:50And yet you have a belief of victim.
1360. 1:51:53And since belief controls it, no matter how powerful you are,
1361. 1:51:57If your belief is you're a victim, then you are a victim.
1362. 1:52:01And we have been victimized by beliefs that are incorrect.
1363. 1:52:04And if we adjust the science, it automatically then comes right together with the whole spiritual message that Agape and my brother Reverend here have been providing for years.
1364. 1:52:18But there's a scientific context to it because a lot of people go, well, is it scientific?
1365. 1:52:24I go, yes, it is.
1366. 1:52:28I mean, what are those flawed beliefs that we've been living under all these years?
1367. 1:52:31Well, there are four of them.
1368. 1:52:33Two of them are actually part of Darwinian theory, which I'll mention.
1369. 1:52:36But the first one that's really important is people have been programmed the belief that the genes they inherited at conception are programming the rest of their life.
1370. 1:52:45The genes, we didn't select them as far as we know.
1371. 1:52:48If you don't like the characteristics, you can't change these genes.
1372. 1:52:51And then we add on top of that, we say, and the genes turn on and off by themselves.
1373. 1:52:55And all of a sudden you start to realize then I'm not running my life.
1374. 1:52:58The genes are running my life.
1375. 1:52:59Oh my God, there's cancer in the family and their genes are growing.
1376. 1:53:02I'm going to get a cancer gene.
  1377. 1:53:04And I said, what's the belief?
1378. 1:53:05You already got the belief.
1379. 1:53:06I'm going to get cancer.
1380. 1:53:06I go, this is trouble right there.
1381. 1:53:10This little sidebar, because I love this sidebar, there's not one gene that causes cancer.
1382. 1:53:16Cancer is not caused by a gene.
1383. 1:53:18Cancer is caused by disharmony in your life.
1384. 1:53:22Unresolved anger is the biggest one.
1385. 1:53:26Feeling lost, left out, you know, not part of something is another one that separates you.
1386. 1:53:33And I want people to understand that because so many people say, oh, I've got this cancer and the gene doesn't.
  1387. 1:53:38I'm just a victim back here.
1388. 1:53:39And the genes took this and genes made this.
  1389. 1:53:41And I go, stop.
  1390. 1:53:43you are co-creating with those genes.
1391. 1:53:46The gene does not turn on and off and the gene does not control things.
1392. 1:53:50The gene responds to the environment.
1393. 1:53:52And if your perception of the environment is not in harmony and support of your life, that disharmony is what can activate a gene.
1394. 1:53:59A gene is a blueprint, just like in an architect's office.
  1395. 1:54:02And I mentioned, I say, go into an architect's office and she's working on a blueprint.
1396. 1:54:06You ask her and say, hey, is your blueprint on or off?
1397. 1:54:09And she'd look at you like, what are you, crazy?
  1398. 1:54:11It's a blueprint.
1399. 1:54:12There's no on and off.
1400. 1:54:13I go, yes, DNA is a blueprint to make the proteins of the body.
1401. 1:54:17It cannot turn itself on and off.
  1402. 1:54:19You need an architect.
  1403. 1:54:22Consciousness, mind is architect.
1404. 1:54:26That turns the genes on and can modify the readout of the genes.
1405. 1:54:31Being is the one thing, of course it's not a thing, we're just using words, is the one thing that you can be absolutely sure about.
1406. 1:54:43The only thing that is beyond doubt in your life.
1407. 1:54:51The only thing whose reality is beyond doubt.
1408. 1:54:57Everything else could be a dream, an illusion.
1409. 1:55:05Whatever you perceive could be a dream, an illusion.
1410. 1:55:11you don't know that it's not a dream or an illusion because when this meditation comes to an end then it evaporates into the so-called past and everything that happens quickly dissolves, dissolves, dissolves
1411. 1:55:42The same way that a dream comes to an end when you wake up.
1412. 1:55:47Except that this dream seems to go on and on, replaced by another and another.
  1413. 1:55:54If it is a dream.
1414. 1:55:57But something, what is it then that cannot be doubted?
  1415. 1:56:07That there is a consciousness
1416. 1:56:11in which, if it is a dream, whether it's a reality or a dream, doesn't matter, in which it arises, in which it is known, the light in which it appears.
1417. 1:56:26So your presence cannot be doubted.
1418. 1:56:30Whatever happens in that presence can be doubted.
1419. 1:56:33doubted but for it to happen there must
1420. 1:56:36be a presence and of course I said your
  1421. 1:56:39presence it's not your presence it's the
  1422. 1:56:41one universal presence
  1423. 1:56:51consciousness
  1424. 1:57:02I particularly
  1425. 1:57:04welcome those of
  1426. 1:57:05[Music]
1427. 1:57:07you who are getting tired of their
1428. 1:57:09who are getting tired of their personality that cumbersome thing that weight you carry around and creates the same old stuff again and again.
  1429. 1:57:20again and again
  1430. 1:57:26it's a good point to
1431. 1:57:28reach to become tired of
  1432. 1:57:37[Music]
  1433. 1:57:42yourself that is sometimes
  1434. 1:57:47misperceived and then you think you're
1435. 1:57:49tired of the world you're tired of
1436. 1:57:55What you're really tired of is the self and the world that it creates or seems to create out there.
1437. 1:58:14the same old conflict the same old problems or different problems but basically the same if you look deep down the same old thoughts in your head again and again the same complaints oh dear saw the spiritual path
1438. 1:58:41There are many practices you can use in order to access the dimension of presence, which is the spiritual dimension.
  1439. 1:59:06But the most direct
1440. 1:59:11that immediately accesses that dimension.
  1441. 1:59:15immediately accesses that
  1442. 1:59:21dimension
  1443. 1:59:22we could call
  1444. 1:59:24that
  1445. 1:59:26[Music]
  1446. 1:59:34surrender what is
  1447. 1:59:38[Music]
1448. 1:59:50that he it is to offer no resistance or
1449. 1:59:56opposition to whatever arises in the
1450. 2:00:01Whatever happens, whatever arises, whatever people say or do, to become one with the is-ness of the present moment.
1451. 2:00:17The present moment always already is the way it is.
1452. 2:00:24There's no doubt about that.
1453. 2:00:25Whatever form this moment takes, it is as it is.
1454. 2:00:31And if internally then you give up opposing, which is the normal state associated with dense personalities, instead of opposing internally what is,
1455. 2:00:47Getting upset, getting angry, arguing with what is either just in your head or out loud, telling people what they should have done or should be doing but are not doing, what it should be like but it isn't like, what I should be doing, what I'm not doing, I should be, whatever form the opposition takes.
  1456. 2:01:15And I mentioned
1457. 2:01:18A few minutes ago, those of you who are getting tired of the old personality, and of course, this is part of the old personality, the way in which it interacts with people and events and places.
  1458. 2:01:37It's not usually pleasant.
1459. 2:01:41There's always some resistance, always something not good enough, always something missing here and now.
1460. 2:01:51Wherever you go, the structure stays with you, goes with you.
1461. 2:01:56So you recognize that that's an important part of the false self that lives through opposition to what is.
1462. 2:02:12It strengthens itself through that sense of separation, separating itself from what's going on
1463. 2:02:21condemning it, judging it, and people.
1464. 2:02:30And then you realize what happens if I just accept that whatever arises in the present moment, say, oh, that's what is.
1465. 2:02:45You can still take action, but the foundation is acceptance, surrender,
1466. 2:02:54And then immediately the false self can't really operate anymore.
1467. 2:03:06And something else comes in which is essence, which is awareness, which is consciousness itself.
1468. 2:03:16So the most fundamental spiritual practice is surrender.
1469. 2:03:26So that internally you're one with what is.
1470. 2:03:37And immediately you are a spiritual master.
1471. 2:03:42Because that's all a master, a master does not necessarily have more knowledge than you.
1472. 2:03:48You may have much more knowledge than a spiritual master.
1473. 2:03:54But the master lives in alignment with the is-ness of the present moment, that's all.
  1474. 2:04:02And that's where the power arises.
1475. 2:04:05Because when you're aligned with the is-ness, that inner spaciousness opens up, essence is there,
1476. 2:04:16And that is the power that then moves through you and can become a thought.
1477. 2:04:21It can express itself in form through a thought, an action, a movement, something you do or make in many ways or just as an emanation.
  1478. 2:04:41That is true power.
1479. 2:04:43I would love for you to share the mission that you're on and how people can break past the memory of who they've been so they can tap into the potential of who they can be.
1480. 2:04:53Well, a habit is a redundant set of automatic, unconscious thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that's acquired through repetition.
1481. 2:05:01A habit is when you've done something so many times that your body actually knows how to do it better than your conscious mind.
  1482. 2:05:07It's a habit.
1483. 2:05:08So people wake up in the morning and they run through the same routine every single day.
1484. 2:05:14And the routine is mapped out neurologically in their brain.
1485. 2:05:18If they have the thought of the coffee maker, they make the choice to go over there, they do the thing to make the coffee, they have the experience of drinking it, and they feel the emotion associated with it, that becomes a pattern, it becomes more automatic, it becomes second nature.
1486. 2:05:36So we have a series of these redundant patterns then, and in time, we lose our free will.
1487. 2:05:43to a set of programs and the body is programmed into the predictable future based on what we've done in the past.
1488. 2:05:49And that's how we lose the free will to a set of programs.
1489. 2:05:54So that habituation is the predictable future and that's the known.
1490. 2:05:59And other people wake up in the morning and they romance their memories of the past.
1491. 2:06:04They think about the problems that they have in their lives and those problems are connected to certain people and certain objects and certain things at certain times and places.
1492. 2:06:13And since the brain is a record of the past, the moment they remember that problem, they're thinking in the past.
1493. 2:06:20And every one of those problems has an emotion that's associated with it.
1494. 2:06:25So the moment the person feels unhappy, the moment the person feels fear, the moment the person feels unworthy, the moment the person feels sad, now the body's in the past.
1495. 2:06:35Because thoughts are the language of the brain and feelings are the language of the body and how we think and how we feel creates our state of being.
1496. 2:06:43And so it's that thought and that feeling, it's that image or that memory and the emotion, it's that stimulus and response that's conditioning the body to become the mind of that emotion.
1497. 2:06:53And now the body is so objective that it does not know the difference between the real life experience that's creating the emotion and the emotion that that person is creating by thought alone.
1498. 2:07:05and the body's reliving the same past experience over and over again.
1499. 2:07:10And if we can't think greater than how we feel, or feelings have become the means of thinking, then we're thinking in the past.
1500. 2:07:16And if we believe that our thoughts have anything to do with our destiny, then our future is gonna look a lot like our past.
1501. 2:07:24So that familiar past also is the known.
1502. 2:07:29And so what we discovered is that if you could teach a person,
1503. 2:07:34to when their body's sitting in a meditation, as an example.
  1504. 2:07:40And it's off schedule.
1505. 2:07:43It's used to feeling angry at 8 o'clock in the morning because it watches the news.
1506. 2:07:48The person experiences traffic every day, they get 11 o'clock, they check their emails, and they start judging other people.
1507. 2:07:57There's a set of familiar emotions that person has been living by.
1508. 2:08:01We discovered that if the person can sit past
1509. 2:08:05That memory, that they can sit past that emotion that causes them to get aroused, to get frustrated, to get impatient.
1510. 2:08:12That's the emotion that causes the person to quit.
1511. 2:08:16And they have this conclusion that they can't meditate or they can't focus or they have ADD.
1512. 2:08:21It's a story they tell themselves about the past.
1513. 2:08:25We discovered though that when a person sits past those thoughts that say I can't, it's too hard, I'll never change, I need a brain scan, there's something wrong with me, it's my mother's fault.
1514. 2:08:38And they're curious to see what's on the other side of that thought.
1515. 2:08:41When their body gets aroused and frustrated, instead of giving up and saying, I have too many things to do, that they actually learn a way to settle the body back down into the present moment.
  1516. 2:08:55And it's David versus Goliath.
1517. 2:08:58And every time we can become conscious that we get emotional, we get frustrated, we get impatient, and we settle the body down, we're executing the will
1518. 2:09:08Now that's greater than the program and the body is no longer the mind.
1519. 2:09:12The person is now becoming conscious of their unconscious self and it takes an enormous amount of energy.
1520. 2:09:19It takes an enormous amount of awareness to stay present, because to stay present is to be in the unknown.
1521. 2:09:25That's when you can't predict the future, and that's not when you're remembering the past.
1522. 2:09:29And the unknown in the program that we have as biological creatures is a scary place.
1523. 2:09:36It's better to run from the unknown than to hang out in it.
1524. 2:09:40Frequently I'm asked every day, how come you look so happy?
1525. 2:09:44And the answer is, I wake up happy.
1526. 2:09:47And why do I get this happiness?
  1527. 2:09:50Where's it coming from?
1528. 2:09:51And the answer is this, it's another day on planet Earth.
1529. 2:09:54And what's so exciting about it is, it's another day that I have no idea what's going to happen, but the greatest wishes and desires for some fun and excitement and a very joyous life.
  1530. 2:10:04So I start off with
1531. 2:10:06Today's going to be a great day.
1532. 2:10:08And almost every day it ends up being a great day.
1533. 2:10:12Doesn't mean everything works right.
1534. 2:10:14But the beautiful part about it is I've really learned not to carry anything forward that is not really happy and enjoyous in my life.
  1535. 2:10:23It reminds me of a story.
1536. 2:10:25Two Buddhist monks are walking along and Buddhist monks are not allowed to touch women at all.
1537. 2:10:30And these two Buddhist monks are walking along and they come to a river and at that river there's a woman dressed in her wedding refinery and she's crying and she's crying because she can't get across the river wearing these clothes.
1538. 2:10:42So one of the monks just picks her up, carries her across, drops her off on the other side.
1539. 2:10:47Then the two monks continue walking.
1540. 2:10:50And about an hour and a half down the road, one monk says to the other one, how could you pick up a woman?
1541. 2:10:56And the one who picked up the woman looked at him and said, I dropped her off an hour and a half ago.
1542. 2:11:01Why are you still carrying her?
1543. 2:11:02And the whole idea about that is the meaning of it is when events happen in our life, it's not necessary to keep carrying them, especially if they're negative ones.
1544. 2:11:11You can just stop right there and go on to the next thing.
  1545. 2:11:14It's a choice.
1546. 2:11:15Do I want to be in an environment where I'm not happy?
1547. 2:11:18Or do I want to be in an environment where I am happy?
  1548. 2:11:20Oh, choice?
  1549. 2:11:21Well, obviously.
1550. 2:11:22But most of us have that choice but are so caught up in conventional rules and conventional way of mannerisms and social structure that we hold ourselves in places we don't even want to be.
1551. 2:11:34And then we sit there in our mind getting aggravated by all the factors.
1552. 2:11:38I don't even want to be here.
1553. 2:11:39And I go, well, then guess what?
  1554. 2:11:41Choice.
  1555. 2:11:41Choice.
1556. 2:11:42Pick a place you want to be.
  1557. 2:11:43Go to the movie.
  1558. 2:11:45Go do something else.
  1559. 2:11:46Break the pattern.
1560. 2:11:48And when you break the pattern is your moment of power.
1561. 2:11:52Because when the pattern is broken, there's new choices at that moment.
1562. 2:11:56But if you don't break the pattern, you're going to follow a litany of up or down, depending how you started off the process.
1563. 2:12:02The litany down, not a great trip, I'll tell you that.
  1564. 2:12:05But hey, I think it's over 20 some years, I haven't been depressed.
  1565. 2:12:09I haven't even been angry.
1566. 2:12:11I get upset by some things, of course, but it doesn't mean I hold them.
1567. 2:12:15I drop that person off on the other side of the river and stop carrying it.
1568. 2:12:20And this is the choice.
  1569. 2:12:21It really is a choice.
1570. 2:12:22You have to think about it because it's a conscious awakening at a moment that gives you a choice that wakes up and goes, do I want to do this?
  1571. 2:12:31And that's that moment of choice.
1572. 2:12:33You take that moment of choice and then you say, I'm moving into where I want to go.
1573. 2:12:38You make a habit out of this because you repeat this.
  1574. 2:12:41And then guess what?
1575. 2:12:42You don't even have to think about it anymore because the subconscious program will always redirect you to the place you want to be.
1576. 2:12:49And the whole other world that we used to experience that used to irritate us and aggravate us and all that anxiety stuff,
  1577. 2:12:57It just doesn't exist.
  1578. 2:12:59And it doesn't mean everything's going right.
1579. 2:13:02But the whole beautiful part about it is, well, if it doesn't go right, okay, stop now.
1580. 2:13:06Let's go do something else.
  1581. 2:13:07Because it's the idea.
  1582. 2:13:08It didn't go right.
1583. 2:13:09And then why didn't it go right?
  1584. 2:13:10And who didn't make it right?
1585. 2:13:12And where is it going to go now?
  1586. 2:13:13And blah, blah, blah.
1587. 2:13:14And what are you doing?
  1588. 2:13:15You're digging a hole.
  1589. 2:13:16And it's not going up.
  1590. 2:13:18It's going down.
1591. 2:13:20And the whole idea is choice.
1592. 2:13:22But the most important part of choice is you have to stop long enough, not get caught up in the program and play out the program.
1593. 2:13:31There's a moment while you're playing the program, maybe you can separate and look at yourself and say, why am I doing this?
1594. 2:13:37Because that is the moment of power.
1595. 2:13:40That is the moment where you can say, I have a choice.
1596. 2:13:44I can do something totally different than to stew in this stuff.
1597. 2:13:49And then you are a powerful person.
1598. 2:13:51Be grateful for whatever your experience of this moment is.
1599. 2:13:57And if you cannot be grateful, at least allow it to be because it already is.
  1600. 2:14:10you might as well.
1601. 2:14:12Now, if you did this little thing, it sounds very little and it is very little, allowing your experience of this moment to be the way it is, just this little thing would remove, well, it's hard to put it in percentage terms, let's say 95% of the suffering from your life.
1602. 2:14:36I don't know about the rest, the 5%, we'll get to that some time.
  1603. 2:14:42gigantic chunk of
  1604. 2:14:44unhappiness uh in whatever
1605. 2:14:48form unhappiness is the most generic
1606. 2:14:50term ter one could use the Buddha called
  1607. 2:14:52it
1608. 2:15:00suffering and so for the next 6 months
1609. 2:15:04then uh that obviously is one of the
1610. 2:15:10not to internally resist your experience of this moment.
1611. 2:15:19Now, of course, many times, possibly you'll forget that.
  1612. 2:15:32And that's fine.
1613. 2:15:35The moment you realize that you forgot it,
1614. 2:15:39It's there again and then you can accept the experience of this moment as the unhappiness that is arising in you because you forgot to accept your experience of this moment and so you feel this unhappiness arising in you and you say, where does that come from?
1615. 2:15:55Oh, I forgot to accept my experience of this moment.
1616. 2:16:05And then you accept the unhappiness.
1617. 2:16:09And the weird thing with unhappiness is when you completely accept the unhappiness, it cannot survive very long.
1618. 2:16:18It doesn't like, it cannot actually coexist with acceptance.
1619. 2:16:25So the weird thing then arises that you say something like,
  1620. 2:16:32Okay, I'm unhappy, that's okay.
  1621. 2:16:34I don't mind being unhappy.
1622. 2:16:38And then the unhappiness goes, what's going on?
1623. 2:16:42That's not supposed to happen.
1624. 2:16:46The unhappiness cannot survive for very long with the acceptance, even the acceptance of unhappiness, not indulging in unhappiness, but the acceptance, not the acceptance of unhappiness,
1625. 2:16:59It presupposes that there's an awareness there that knows that you're unhappy.
1626. 2:17:06Now that might sound like something very natural, but it isn't, because the most unhappy people, and there's still millions, and of course they have reasons for being unhappy, yes.
1627. 2:17:24And it's not necessarily the people who you'd think would have the most powerful reasons for being unhappy.
1628. 2:17:31It's often those who you would think, well, there are many millions who have it worse than they, but these are more unhappy than those.
  1629. 2:17:39That's often the case.
  1630. 2:17:44So the unhappiness is
1631. 2:17:50Something that when it's recognized as unhappiness and accepted, something happens to it, it begins to dissolve.
1632. 2:18:01But the really unhappy people are so identified with the unhappiness, which is,
1633. 2:18:09a combination of certain recurring thoughts in your head, a certain narrative that is not pleasant.
1634. 2:18:23Whether it is about my life, whether the narrative says, my life, oh, dreadful thing, my life.
1635. 2:18:35Why did it all go so wrong, so wrong, wrong?
  1636. 2:18:41and now I say it's nothing I can do.
1637. 2:18:47Or whether the narrative is about somebody else.
1638. 2:18:51Do you know what he did, what she said and did?
1639. 2:18:55The narrative may be about something that hasn't happened yet, and it goes on and on.
1640. 2:19:05or something that happened in the distant past or not so distant past.
1641. 2:19:08So there's a narrative, and then there are emotions that are a reflection of the narrative.
1642. 2:19:14The narrative is thoughts, certain types of thoughts, certain thoughts that have a certain frequency.
1643. 2:19:26And then that awakens the emotional frequency because the body thinks,
1644. 2:19:31The narrative in your mind is reality.
1645. 2:19:33That is the reality that you're experiencing.
1646. 2:19:36So the body reacts with an emotion.
1647. 2:19:40Simple example, at night you can't sleep because you're extremely worried about what's going to happen to you or somebody close to you or even the world.
1648. 2:20:01And it all sounds very critical.
  1649. 2:20:06There's a crisis in your head.
1650. 2:20:09Not outside your head, there's a pillow and there's a blanket or even something big and fluffy and soft, a down duvet.
  1651. 2:20:25And there's no unhappiness there.
1652. 2:20:28if you look around the bedroom also
  1653. 2:20:30where's the
1654. 2:20:33unhappiness the plant is okay it's not
  1655. 2:20:37unhappy no it's all happening in
1656. 2:20:49here and then the body since that is
1657. 2:20:53your the critical reality that you
1658. 2:20:55inhabit you are there is a crisis in
1659. 2:20:58your life the body doesn't know the
1660. 2:20:59The body doesn't know the difference between what's actually happening and what's happening in your head.
1661. 2:21:03What's happening in your head is taken to be the absolute reality.
1662. 2:21:10And then you experience the emotion that goes with that kind of narrative.
  1663. 2:21:15And so there's no awareness.
1664. 2:21:17And when you're trapped in that, you don't even really know that you're unhappy because you are the unhappiness.
1665. 2:21:23The unhappiness has become your identity.
1666. 2:21:26So when you become the unhappiness,
1667. 2:21:29You don't even know that you are, or suffer, let's use the Buddhist term suffering.
1668. 2:21:34When you are in this deep suffering, you don't even know you're suffering because the suffering is a gigantic, huge chunk, part of your sense of self.
  1669. 2:21:43You are a suffering entity.
1670. 2:21:47And as all therapists know, that suffering
1671. 2:21:54once the patient or the client or whatever they call the people that come to them according to their school, they reach a point where there's a possibility of going beyond
1672. 2:22:09deep-seated patterns, unconscious patterns, and then there's a huge resistance very often because the person is afraid of losing a very important piece of their identity, and sometimes it's the most important part of their identity.
1673. 2:22:25If they have lived with an unhappy sense of self for years and perhaps even decades,
1674. 2:22:33They don't want to let go, and again, they don't know that consciously.
1675. 2:22:36They never say, I do not want to let go.
1676. 2:22:40If they could say that, that means there's already some awareness.
1677. 2:22:45So lack of awareness, lack of presence, that is the unawakened state that still, unfortunately, millions of humans are trapped in that.
1678. 2:22:58But the moment you know, you recognize your inner state,
1679. 2:23:02That means there is an awareness which is, there is another dimension of consciousness that has emerged in you, through you.
1680. 2:23:12A deeper dimension of consciousness that is not the conditioned thinking.
1681. 2:23:18So we can call it awareness, we can call it presence,
  1682. 2:23:24the unconditioned consciousness.
1683. 2:23:28And then the beginning of freedom, the possibility of freedom arises.
1684. 2:23:34And it's from there that you recognize your inner states as they arise.
1685. 2:23:39From there that you recognize your unhappiness.
1686. 2:23:43You can feel the unhappiness.
1687. 2:23:47But the moment you become aware of suffering or unhappiness in you,
1688. 2:23:53you're no longer feeding it with your thoughts.
1689. 2:23:57As long as you're not aware, you're feeding it as a vicious circle, you're feeding it with your thoughts, with your narrative, and you're trapped in the vicious circle.
1690. 2:24:06Your narrative creates more unhappiness, your unhappiness creates more thought, and you're trapped in that.
1691. 2:24:14So for the next six months, and hopefully beyond, because it's a much,
1692. 2:24:20more pleasant way to live.
1693. 2:24:23You make it your practice to be aware of your inner states and meaning, no matter what situation arises in your life, whether it's little things, big things, difficult situations, difficult people, challenges, problems, because the next six months are not going to be free of challenges and problems.
1694. 2:24:51So whatever it is, realize that the primary factor in any situation is your inner state, because that determines how you respond.
1695. 2:25:07So no matter what it is, your primary responsibility is to be aware of what goes on inside you.
  1696. 2:25:17And
1697. 2:25:18That means whatever arises in your life is actually to be used in your practice so that you do not become dependent on what's going on in your life.
  1698. 2:25:40externally in your life.
1699. 2:25:42So your inner state gradually is no longer determined, perhaps still a little bit, yes, but not completely determined by outer events, people, situations, and so on.
  1700. 2:25:57Inner freedom arises.
  1701. 2:25:59That's awakening.
1702. 2:26:03How bad does it have to get?
1703. 2:26:07I mean, to what extent?
1704. 2:26:10denominator to what lowest level do you have to reach before people really make up their mind to change my message is why wait i mean when you're feeling so altered emotionally you feel so bad that's the moment you could actually see yourself for the first time because you're you're not answering your cell phone you're not responding to all your texts you're not watching tv you're not going out to dinners you're not calling people back
1705. 2:26:37Something's altered in you and you're starting to become self-aware, right?
1706. 2:26:41So then people wait to that lowest moment where they can start to see themselves through the eyes of somebody else.
1707. 2:26:47Well, if you're waking up every day and you're combining a clear intention with an elevated emotion and you're changing your emotional state to be elevated,
1708. 2:26:56You could still see the old self from an elevated point of view and stay conscious than from a limited point of view.
  1709. 2:27:02And that's what I want for people.
  1710. 2:27:04Like, let's go.
1711. 2:27:05I mean, what do you got to lose?
1712. 2:27:07People are going to start wondering, like, did you change your medication?
1713. 2:27:10What's up with that guy?
  1714. 2:27:11Something's different about him.
1715. 2:27:12You're not predictable any longer, right?
1716. 2:27:14And we say to our community, you know, when you're changing, you just stop talking about it.
1717. 2:27:20You're just too busy being it.
  1718. 2:27:21Something's happening, you know, and that's...
1719. 2:27:24The repetition of getting a few days in a row of that really well.
1720. 2:27:29I always say, God, if you had a great meditation, you wake up feeling better at the end of that meditation than when you started, and you do that the next day, and then the next day, you're going to start feeling better all the time, and then your body's going to start feeling better, and everything's going to start feeling better, and you're going to start feeling better about life.
1721. 2:27:48Talking about past and future and excessive time
1722. 2:27:52emphasis on past and future in your life.
1723. 2:27:54Yes, of course you need to have, there's nothing wrong with having a certain intention of what you want to achieve.
  1724. 2:28:03Take steps towards it.
1725. 2:28:04It's part of living here in this dimension.
1726. 2:28:07You can't just say, I'm never going to plan anything anymore.
1727. 2:28:11Just take life as it comes.
1728. 2:28:13Well, some people try to do that, but they're not that happy either after a while.
1729. 2:28:19So then your life will get very diffused.
1730. 2:28:22So to have an intention, to make a plan, perfectly fine.
1731. 2:28:27Either a short term plan, like I'm going to meet you tomorrow at four o'clock.
1732. 2:28:31How would you ever meet anybody if we didn't have time?
1733. 2:28:35And future in a practical level, of course it's needed.
1734. 2:28:39The question is whether future takes over your mind
1735. 2:28:43Being able to use it for practical purposes is of course great, but I call that clock time is fine, but psychological time is when the future takes over your mind and your entire thought patterns are geared only towards future, and you treat the present moment
1736. 2:29:01as either just a means to an end, because it enables you to get to the next one, you're always reaching out, so to speak, internally to the next, yet never quite here, always looking for some fulfillment there, so you can never embrace the fullness of now, or you make the now into even an enemy.
1737. 2:29:20Some people are always unhappy, perhaps we all know one or two people like that.
1738. 2:29:29who are, wherever they are, they're complaining, it's never quite right, wherever they are or whoever they are with, after a little while, they're very uncomfortable again, they should be somewhere else.
1739. 2:29:41You know the bumper sticker that you see on some cars in various versions of it,
  1740. 2:29:45says, I'd rather be golfing.
1741. 2:29:48And then another one says, I'd rather be fishing.
1742. 2:29:51I'd rather be this, I'd rather be there.
1743. 2:29:53When I visited the spiritual teacher, Ram Dass, who lives in Hawaii, he has a bumper sticker on, Ram Dass was the person who, in the 70s, wrote the book, Be Here Now.
1744. 2:30:06Anyway, he has a bumper sticker on his car that says, I'd rather be here now.
1745. 2:30:14And then you realize you can actually, you can still pursue whatever an intention, where you want to get to, a plan.
  1746. 2:30:24I call that, it's a bit like a journey.
  1747. 2:30:26Your life is a journey.
1748. 2:30:27You know you want to go from here to there.
1749. 2:30:30Whether you're going to get there, we don't know.
1750. 2:30:32Maybe on the way you'll branch out to somewhere else.
1751. 2:30:36But at least you have a certain direction.
1752. 2:30:38It's good to have some direction in your life.
1753. 2:30:41But while you are traveling,
1754. 2:30:44If your destination takes up most of your attention and you're continuously focusing on there, you miss all the journey, really.
  1755. 2:30:53You can't enjoy the journey anymore.
1756. 2:30:55And most of your life is the journey.
1757. 2:30:57The arriving is relatively rare.
  1758. 2:30:59The wedding, ah.
  1759. 2:31:04And a few more graduation.
1760. 2:31:08But so those moments are not far and few between.
1761. 2:31:12So the rest is the journey.
1762. 2:31:14And if you can't enjoy the journey, which means the step you're taking at this moment is really the most important thing.
1763. 2:31:20Yes, of course you know you're going that way.
1764. 2:31:23But this step is still to be enjoyed.
1765. 2:31:26Because that's ultimately your whole life consists of the step you're taking at this moment.
1766. 2:31:31There is never anything else.
1767. 2:31:33It is simply impossible to achieve long-term health and happiness if you hate yourself.
  1768. 2:31:39100%.
1769. 2:31:39This is so important because I have a memory of a point in my life where that changed just like, boom, just like somebody turned the switch.
1770. 2:31:47Because I was on the edge of, I could have been diagnosed as manic depressive.
1771. 2:31:51Well, I'm happy most of the time, but once it started going wrong, then it was like, this is wrong.
1772. 2:31:55And then I give myself the abuse verbally.
  1773. 2:31:57Oh, you're stupid.
  1774. 2:31:59You're not good enough.
1775. 2:32:00What's wrong with you, Lipton?
  1776. 2:32:02And I'd be doing that.
1777. 2:32:03And I was in my lab, and I just spent a procedure that took about an hour to prepare for the experiment.
1778. 2:32:10And if you mess it up just a little bit, you have to start all over again.
1779. 2:32:14The third time that day, I messed it all up.
  1780. 2:32:16And now I'm really upset.
1781. 2:32:17I spent the whole damn day doing this.
  1782. 2:32:19It didn't work.
1783. 2:32:19And then I'm getting, oh, you idiot, you can't do anything right.
1784. 2:32:22And I was giving myself like a parent on my shoulder, telling me where that's not good enough.
  1785. 2:32:28And I'll never forget there.
1786. 2:32:30I was alone in the lab and I hear this voice and there's nobody there.
1787. 2:32:36I hear this voice like, you know, and the voice says, don't you have anything better to do than to listen to this crap?
  1788. 2:32:44I looked around.
1789. 2:32:45I started to laugh because I said, sure, I'd rather go to a movie.
  1790. 2:32:49So there was a newspaper.
1791. 2:32:51I picked up the paper.
1792. 2:32:52I found a movie, went off to the theater.
  1793. 2:32:54Guess what?
1794. 2:32:55That whole dialogue ended instantly.
  1795. 2:32:58I had a choice.
1796. 2:32:59That's what it was saying.
  1797. 2:33:00I have a choice.
1798. 2:33:01Do you want to continue this conversation or do you want to do something else?
1799. 2:33:04That was the moment of empowerment that was so great because it said, stop.
  1800. 2:33:10Stop.
  1801. 2:33:10Stop.
  1802. 2:33:11Do something else.
  1803. 2:33:12Get out of here.
1804. 2:33:15And the next time I started to get a little depressed, first thing that came back was the humor of that.
  1805. 2:33:19And I'd laugh and I'd go, okay, I'll do something else.
1806. 2:33:22After three or four times, guess what?
1807. 2:33:24I've never been depressed since that time.
  1808. 2:33:28Never.
  1809. 2:33:29Why?
1810. 2:33:30It just doesn't hold in my mind.
1811. 2:33:32If a depression, like a negative thing starts happening, I don't sit there and play it over and over and over again, which makes you go downhill, downhill.
  1812. 2:33:41I just, oh, I have a choice.
  1813. 2:33:44It's a choice.
1814. 2:33:45Do I want to listen to this stuff or do I want to do something else?
1815. 2:33:48To learn to manifest like Wayne Dyer, check the video right there next to me.
  1816. 2:33:51I think you'll love it.
1817. 2:33:52Continue to believe and I'll see you there.
