  1. 0:02good evening thank you guys for coming i
  2. 0:05know our fish first official press
  3. 0:07briefing is going to be on Monday but I
  4. 0:08wanted to give you a few updates on the
  5. 0:10president's activities but before I get
  6. 0:12to the news of the day I think I'd like
  7. 0:14to discuss a little bit of the coverage
  8. 0:15of the past 24 hours yesterday at a time
  9. 0:18when our nation in the world was
  10. 0:20watching the peaceful transition of
  11. 0:22power and as the president said the
  12. 0:24transition and the balance of power from
  13. 0:26Washington's to the citizens of the
  14. 0:27United States remember some members of
  15. 0:29the media were engaged and deliberately
  16. 0:31false reporting for all the talk about
  17. 0:33the proper use of Twitter two instances
  18. 0:36yesterday stand out one was a
  19. 0:40particularly egregious example in which
  20. 0:41a reporter falsely tweeted out that the
  21. 0:44bust of Martin Luther King jr. had been
  22. 0:46removed from the oval office after was
  23. 0:49pointed out that this was just plain
  24. 0:51wrong the reporter casually reported and
  25. 0:54tweeted out and tried to claim that a
  26. 0:56Secret Service agent must have just been
  27. 0:58standing in front of it this was
  28. 1:00irresponsible and reckless secondly
  29. 1:04photographs of the inaugural proceedings
  30. 1:06were intentionally framed in a way in
  31. 1:08one particular tweet to minimize the
  32. 1:11enormous support that had gathered on
  33. 1:13the National Mall this is the first time
  34. 1:15in our nation's history that floor
  35. 1:17coverings have been used to protect the
  36. 1:19grass in the mall that has effect of
  37. 1:21highlighting any areas where people were
  38. 1:22not standing while in years past the
  39. 1:25grass eliminated this visual this is
  40. 1:28also the first time that fencing and
  41. 1:30magnetometers went as far back on the
  42. 1:32wall preventing hundreds of thousands of
  43. 1:34people from being able to access them
  44. 1:36all as quickly if they had in
  45. 1:38inaugurations tasks in accurate numbers
  46. 1:41involving crowd size were also tweeted
  47. 1:42no one had numbers because the National
  48. 1:46Park Service which controls the National
  49. 1:48Mall does not put any out by the way
  50. 1:51this applies to any attempts to try to
  51. 1:53count the number of protesters today in
  52. 1:55the same fashion we do know a few things
  53. 1:57so let's go through the facts we know
  54. 2:00that from the platform where the
  55. 2:01president was sworn into fourth Street
  56. 2:03holds about 250,000 people from fourth
  57. 2:06Street to the media tent there's about
  58. 2:08another 220,000 and from the media tent
  59. 2:10to the Washington Monument another
  60. 2:12other 250,000 people all of this space
  61. 2:16was full when the president took the
  62. 2:18oath of office we know about 420,000
  63. 2:21people used the DC metro public transit
  64. 2:24yesterday which is actually compares to
  65. 2:26317 thousands that used it for President
  66. 2:29Obama's last inaugural this was the
  67. 2:32largest audience to ever witness an
  68. 2:34inauguration period both in person and
  69. 2:37around the globe even the New York Times
  70. 2:39printed avatar of a photograph showing
  71. 2:42that a misrepresentation of the crowd
  72. 2:45and the original tweet in their paper
  73. 2:47which showed the full extent of the
  74. 2:49support depth in crowds and intensity
  75. 2:51that existed these attempts to lessen
  76. 2:53the enthusiasm of the inauguration are
  77. 2:55shameful and wrong the president was
  78. 2:59also at the center as you know the
  79. 3:00president was at the Central
  80. 3:01Intelligence Agency today and greeted by
  81. 3:03a raucous overflow crowd of some 400
  82. 3:06plus CIA employees there were over a
  83. 3:09thousand requests to attend prompting
  84. 3:11the President to note that we'll have to
  85. 3:12come back to greet the rest the
  86. 3:15employees were ecstatic that he's new
  87. 3:16commander-in-chief and he delivered them
  88. 3:18in a powerful an important message he
  89. 3:22told them he has their back and they
  90. 3:25were grateful for that they gave him a
  91. 3:27five minute standing ovation at the end
  92. 3:29in a display of their patriotism and
  93. 3:31their enthusiasm for his presidency I'd
  94. 3:34also note that it's a shame that the CIA
  95. 3:36didn't have a CIA director to be with
  96. 3:39him today when he visited because the
  97. 3:41Democrats have chosen Senate Democrats
  98. 3:43are stalling denomination of Mike Pompeo
  99. 3:45and playing politics with national
  100. 3:48security that's what you guys should be
  101. 3:50writing and covering that this instead
  102. 3:52of sowing division about tweets and and
  103. 3:56false narratives the president is
  104. 3:58committed to unifying our country and
  105. 4:00that was the focus of his inaugural
  106. 4:01address this kind of dishonesty in the
  107. 4:04media the challenging that bringing
  108. 4:06about our nation together is making it
  109. 4:07more difficult there's been a lot of
  110. 4:09talk in the media about the
  111. 4:10responsibility to hold Donald Trump
  112. 4:11accountable and I'm here to tell you
  113. 4:13that it goes two ways we're going to
  114. 4:15hold the press accountable as well the
  115. 4:17American people deserve and his law
  116. 4:19deserve better and as long as he serves
  117. 4:22as the messenger for this incredible
  118. 4:23movement
  119. 4:24he will take his message directly to the
  120. 4:26American people where his focus will
  121. 4:28always be and with that a few other
  122. 4:31updates from the day the president had a
  123. 4:33constructive conversation with Prime
  124. 4:34Minister Trudeau of Canada about
  125. 4:36strengthening the relationship between
  126. 4:38our two nations they also discussed
