0:00If you're walking along your path of
0:01ceremonial magic, there are important
0:03things here that you don't really want
0:05to neglect. Whether you're practicing
0:07magic for manifesting materialistic
0:09things or you're performing magic to
0:12gain knowledge and conversation and
0:14union with the Holy Guardian Angel, if
0:16you're seeking to experience a deeper
0:18level of connection to the divine, no
0:20matter what your goal is when it comes
0:22to ceremonial magic, there are these
0:24important pieces that often get
0:27overlooked and are really not talked
0:29about very much. So, I want to take some
0:31time and really dive into these topics.
0:34This has so much to do with Kabbalah.
0:37And Kabbalah being this ancient form of
0:38Jewish mysticism involving this diagram
0:41called the Tree of Life, people often
0:43use this Tree of Life as a way of
0:45manifesting things. I think that the
0:47Tree of Life is a great tool for
0:49manifestation. It's a great way to
0:51understand the self. It's a great tool
0:53that involves all these correspondences
0:55that helps you understand more about
0:56planetary energies, elemental energies,
0:59zodiacal energies, layers of the self,
1:02the psychology of the self, and so many
1:04other things. Using this Tree of Life as
1:07a tool for manifestation can really help
1:09you understand the Tree of Life,
1:11understand more about the process of
1:13manifestation, and even the union back
1:16with divinity. This Tree of Life shows
1:18us the path of ceremonial magic starting
1:21with the four elements and going on to
1:23these planetary energies, and eventually
1:25the zodiacal energies. But this Tree of
1:27Life is also a layer of the soul, so you
1:29can kind of see that with this diagram
1:31that kind of looks like an onion. It's
1:33just layers and layers of the soul. And
1:35you can build this Tree of Life around
1:37you like a shield, which is a great way,
1:39I think, to memorize the Tree of Life.
1:41But if you're only looking at the Tree
1:43of Life energies as
1:45a sphere that represents a type of
1:47energy, then you might be missing the
1:50deeper layers of what it is that we're
1:52trying to develop with each of these
1:54spheres. For those of you who are new
1:56here to this channel, my name is Will
1:57and this is the Esoteric Cross. I make
2:00videos about how to gain your personal
2:01power while learning ancient secrets.

2:10Kabbalah spelled with a Q, you might see
2:13it spelled with a K. And the main
2:14difference is that Kabbalah, when it's
2:16spelled with a Q, is talking about the
2:18Western Hermeticism side of Kabbalah.
2:21So, like using it within things such as
2:23ceremonial magic, understanding the
2:25relationship between Kabbalah and Tarot,
2:28which is a big part of what we talk
2:29about here on this channel. However,
2:31there is another side of Kabbalah, which
2:33is spelled with a K, and this is talking
2:34about the more Jewish mysticism side of
2:37Kabbalah. It's more traditional. This
2:39might be less practical and viewed it in
2:42a little bit more of a religious sense,
2:44but there is an important piece that's
2:47existing there within the side of
2:48Kabbalah that's often getting overlooked
2:50when it comes to studying it within
2:53Western Esotericism. Each of these
2:55spheres on the Tree of Life has
2:57particular virtues and vices and they
3:00have attributes. These are things that
3:02we want to integrate within our
3:04personality. These are attributes of the
3:07divine and we are a reflection or a
3:10mirror of the cosmos, a mirror of the
3:12divine. So, not only energetically are
3:14we building up these layers of the aura,
3:16but we are also needing to develop these
3:19specific attributes within our own
3:22psyche, within our personality, and
3:25within our lives. Going back to this
3:27onion diagram for a second, these are
3:30layers of the aura and these are parts
3:32of the soul. So, I'm going to quickly
3:33run through these and I'm going to
3:35explain very briefly what each one of
3:37these represents. So, starting at the
3:39center, we have Malkuth, the 3D physical
3:41reality represented by your body and the
3:44four elements. These are the four
3:46aspects of your personality. This is the
3:49center focal point. This is where all of
3:50the energy is condensed together and
3:53this is the vehicle that you use to walk
3:56this Earth to interact with reality,
3:58which is also considered to be Malkuth.
4:00What is just beyond that is the astral.
4:03That is represented by Yesod, which
4:05means the foundation and this is the
4:07lunar energies. This is related to
4:09things like the subconscious, intuition
4:12and with it being the astral energies,
4:14this is what you are building within
4:16your mental sphere of consciousness.
4:18What is building Yesod within your
4:19mental sphere of consciousness? Well,
4:21that could be represented by Hod, that
4:23orange sphere. Hod means splendor or
4:26glory and it's related to Mercury.
4:28Mercury is the mind, it's the intellect.
4:32So, it is that focal point again of what
4:34it is you are focused on. It is building
4:36the astral all the time. Just beyond Hod
4:39is the green sphere, which is Netzach.
4:42Netzach means victory, it's associated
4:45with Venus. And this is more related to
4:47our emotions, it's related to our
4:49desires, our love, love for beauty. It's
4:52sensuality. Beyond that we have
4:54Tiphereth, which is the gold sphere.
4:57Tiphereth is related to the sun and it
5:00is the Christ consciousness. It's the
5:02seat of the holy guardian angel.
5:04Tiphereth is the personal I am of the
5:07divine. So, this is the part of you that
5:09is God reflected through the self.
5:11There's so much to talk about when it
5:13comes to this particular sphere of the
5:14tree of life, but I will kind of leave
5:16it there and sum it up as will and care.
5:19Beyond Tiphereth is Geburah, which is
5:22the red sphere related to Mars. This is
5:25the more warlike aggressive energies,
5:27removing things that don't serve you
5:29anymore. This could represent your
5:31challenges, how you overcome them.
5:33Beyond Geburah is Chesed, which is the
5:36blue sphere related to Jupiter. Chesed
5:38is expansive,
5:40it's about growth and abundance. It's
5:42the building up of the reality around
5:45us. Beyond Chesed is Binah and Binah's
5:48the black sphere associated with Saturn.
5:51Binah means understanding, and this is
5:54the great mother of creation. So, I know
5:56Saturn sounds like a masculine thing,
5:59but really when we're looking at it in
6:01terms of Kabbalah, it's the divine
6:03feminine. This represents our
6:04limitations. It's great for things like
6:07binding. Beyond Binah is Hochma, and
6:10Hochma here is represented by the wheel
6:12of the zodiac.
6:14This includes the deacons of the zodiac,
6:17and includes the 72 angels, and this is
6:20basically the realm of archetypes
6:23revealing things that are hidden. Hochma
6:25meaning wisdom is revealing hidden
6:27knowledge, the hidden layers of the
6:29universe. It's about seeing the
6:31machinery of the universe. Beyond this
6:33is Kether, which is that oneness, the I
6:36Am presence that is within all things,
6:39behind all things. Those last three
6:41spheres are really the top three spheres
6:43on the tree of life are representing
6:45divinity thinking about itself.
6:48And everything below that on the tree of
6:50life is more close to personal
6:53consciousness, or more close to what you
6:55would might view it as human
6:57consciousness. So, after I've explained
6:59that, you might be able to see why you
7:01would work with each of these spheres
7:02when it comes to things like
7:04manifestation. If you're trying to
7:05experience abundance, maybe you will
7:07work with the sphere Chesed. If you're
7:09trying to experience more confidence, or
7:12healing, maybe you'll work with the
7:13sphere Tiphereth, increasing your will,
7:15increasing your care. If you're trying
7:17to manifest love and more beauty and
7:20sensuality within your life, maybe
7:21you'll work with Netzach. If you're
7:23trying to increase your intuition, maybe
7:25you'll work with Yesod. So,
7:27understanding these spheres, their
7:29planetary correspondences, and
7:31understanding the basic meanings of them
7:34gives you more information on how you
7:36can actually use them within your
7:37magical workings. This helps you get a a
7:40understanding of each of the spheres,
7:42but there's actually something deeper to
7:44these spheres that you can work with to
7:46get even better effects from them. So,
7:48this is why I want to say, do not
7:50neglect this part of your magical
7:51workings, because there are specific
7:53attributes within each of these spheres
7:55that you can develop. They can
7:57absolutely up-level the results that
7:58you're getting from them. When it comes
8:00to the sphere of Malkuth,
8:02this is, in a way, like the divine
8:04mother of nature. This is the natural
8:07mother. This is the form that holds us.
8:10We're talking about the body, the
8:11physical body. One of the biggest things
8:13to develop here is compassion. This is
8:16taking care of the body, taking care of
8:18the environment around you, taking care
8:21of other people, developing compassion
8:23for other people. This is what opens the
8:25gateway into the next sphere of
8:27consciousness, Yesod. The virtue of
8:30Malkuth is the materialization. So, what
8:33is it that you're creating here? The
8:35vice that's attached to this sphere is
8:37actually going to be greed. So, too much
8:41of something is not going to be a good
8:43thing. So, if you are constantly focused
8:45on materialization, meaning you are
8:48losing touch with
8:50the root of the tree of life. You're
8:51losing touch with the root of who you
8:53are. Maybe you're losing touch with
8:55things like your creativity or your
8:57intellect, because you're so focused on
8:58the physical. This is something that is
9:00trapping us within Malkuth and is
9:02stopping us from developing these
9:04attributes that are higher than this one
9:06the tree. It almost seems to cut us off
9:08from manifesting what it is that we
9:10want. This is the resistance that
9:12persists. Yesod is the next sphere that
9:14I want to talk about here, and Yesod,
9:17meaning foundation, notice where the
9:19sphere is placed on the body. This could
9:22have to do, in a lot of ways, with a
9:23lustful energy, and how is it that we
9:26use that creative force of energy?
9:29Being very discerning on the way that
9:31you use that energy is going to help you
9:34develop this sphere. It's also related
9:36to the subconscious, the intuition. This
9:38is the lower astral and the upper
9:40astral. Anything that you have ever
9:43imagined within your life is being
9:45cultivated within this sphere. So, being
9:47very careful about your mind, where it
9:49wanders, being very careful about your
9:53emotions, what it is that you wrap
9:54yourself up in when it comes to your
9:56energy. The virtue of this sphere is
9:58independence, and the vice of this
10:00sphere is idleness. So,
10:03where in your life can you develop that
10:06air of independence around yourself? And
10:08where is it that you have been idle,
10:10that you have been even procrastinating
10:12on?
10:13How is it that you can develop deeper,
10:15deeper psychical layers of yourself? Hod
10:18being related to Mercury, of course, has
10:20to do with the analytics and study
10:22skill. What is going on within your
10:24mind? It's related kind of to the
10:26magician, so it's like what you're
10:27focused on is what you're manifesting,
10:29or that's what you're feeding energy to.
10:31It is really concentrating all of your
10:34energy into one particular place by what
10:36it is you're focused on in this moment.
10:38So, again, similar to the last one, be
10:40careful what it is that you focus on.
10:42Use your mental capacities to help other
10:45people, to help other people when it
10:47comes to study, to help other people
10:49when it comes to understanding
10:50themselves and the world around them.
10:52Seeking the truth is actually the virtue
10:55of this sphere, and deception is the
10:57vice. Anywhere that you can move closer
11:00towards the truth, even if that truth is
11:02uncomfortable, and being able to share
11:05that truth with authenticity, this is
11:07going to be your key. Netzach being
11:09related to Venus, of course, we've
11:10talked about emotions and sensuality and
11:12desire, but this goes hand in hand with
11:14the intellect. Again, use this sphere to
11:18help develop the self in other people.
11:20How is it that you're teaching the true
11:22secrets of the universe with other
11:24people? It might not be direct, it might
11:27be something that's more subtle. It
11:29might be having a good conversation with
11:31somebody, holding space for somebody. It
11:33could come about through things that you
11:34create. For example, if you create art
11:36or you create music, if you're creating
11:38anything, this is that sphere that is
11:41really deeply rooted in things like
11:43vision and beauty and art and music,
11:46poetry. What are the creative aspects of
11:49the self that you are using to express
11:51your truth and to raise other people
11:54into higher states of consciousness.
11:55When it comes to Tipheret, being related
11:58to the sun, the Christ consciousness,
12:01I know that there are some people who
12:02are not really into religion or not
12:05really into the Bible and stuff like
12:07that, and I completely understand. But,
12:09if you were to look at some of the true
12:11teachings of Christ or what the Christ
12:13represents, developing these attributes
12:16of the self are what connects the self
12:17to Tipheret. Being able to shine your
12:20light out to the world even and hold
12:23this light is what is helping to connect
12:26you to the sphere of Tipheret. It is
12:27going to spill energy into all of these
12:30other spheres and strengthen them as
12:32well. You might notice on the Tree of
12:34Life that all of these paths seem to
12:35lead right back to Tipheret, how it's
12:37connected to all of these spheres. This
12:40next one is actually a pretty big one.
12:42Gevurah being the sphere that's
12:44associated with Mars, it's talking about
12:47judgment and severity. This is an aspect
12:49of consciousness that is really
12:51untempered most of the time in the world
12:54around us. You can see how this comes
12:56out in things like hatred, bigotry. This
12:59is the sphere that evil is born from.
13:02So, anytime that you pass judgment or
13:04you're embodying the energy of severity
13:06without the compassion, without the
13:08mercy, what you are doing is exciting
13:11what's called the evil urge and feeding
13:13this divine force of energy into other
13:16areas of the self that are really
13:18imprisoning ourselves. The key to this
13:20sphere is being slower to anger. And
13:22this takes a lot of presence, it takes a
13:24lot of awareness. It doesn't mean to
13:26never get angry. Anger is a precious
13:30piece of the self and it's necessary.
13:32Anger is something that you can't really
13:35get rid of. Anger is something that you
13:37can use to move mountains, to change so
13:39many things. This is why I said the
13:41sphere of Geburah has to do with
13:43identifying your challenges within your
13:45life and figuring out how to overcome
13:47them. This is actually a really positive
13:49thing, but out of balance it creates a
13:51lot of toxicity within the self. So, a
13:53big thing that you'll want to work with
13:55within this sphere is being able to
13:57balance it with Chesed. How do you do
13:59that? It's to be able to actually hold
14:02the mercy, to hold the love and
14:03compassion for other people.
14:05How do you hold love and hate at the
14:07same time? How do you hold anger and
14:11reverence at the same time? A big key to
14:13this sphere that can help you is knowing
14:16that that anger hurts the self. If you
14:18are projecting anger out towards someone
14:20else, of course it hurts the other
14:22person, but it's actually doing much
14:25more damage to your own health, to your
14:28own life force energy. It's cutting
14:31yourself off from the source. It's
14:33cutting yourself off from the vital life
14:36force energy that is meant to nourish
14:38you. So, if you can hold that anger or
14:41that judgment with the mercy,
14:44this becomes an alchemical recipe to
14:47actually create effective change within
14:50yourself and the reality around you. So,
14:52I'm not saying to get rid of anger, but
14:54what I am saying to do is to transmute
14:56it. Binah on the Tree of Life has a
14:58virtue of understanding, understanding
15:00the limitations of life and death, birth
15:03and death. Binah and Saturn teach us our
15:06lessons. Interestingly, the vice to this
15:09sphere is greed. The way to connect with
15:11this sphere and to harness the good
15:13powers of it is to be able to improve
15:17yourself and your life, to use your past
15:19actions that were not in the best
15:22alignment for yourself to actually make
15:25changes and to keep continuing and
15:28striving for something better. What
15:30you're trying to do here is to exalt any
15:33aspect of the self that is unredeemed.
15:37As you use your discipline and you use
15:39your power to raise up these lower
15:41aspects of consciousness, you are
15:44gaining more understanding about
15:45yourself. Another key to this sphere is
15:48never losing hope and always
15:50understanding that you are always
15:52connected to the limitless substance
15:54that is behind everything within this
15:56reality, the source of all. Be a
15:58compassionate divine mother to the self.
16:01When it comes to Hochma, wisdom, be
16:04[clears throat] a compassionate father
16:07to the self. Take your time, spend time
16:10in nature,
16:12spend time contemplating divinity and
16:15what exactly this is. When it comes to
16:17these last two spheres, Hochma and
16:20Kether, really the key here is
16:22meditation, observing the self,
16:24observing the world, just watching the
16:26machinery of everything play out. What
16:29does this world look like from a higher
16:31view, from a higher perspective, not
16:33necessarily identified with the
16:35challenges and the trials and
16:37tribulations of what it means to be a
16:39human. When it comes to these
16:40transcendent spheres,
16:42you really want to focus on divinity and
16:45what exactly it means to be divinity.
16:49Being slow to anger, being humble,
16:51staying grounded, being able to see two
16:54sides of every equation, being open and
16:56cultivating a sense of spaciousness
16:58within yourself. So, these are some of
17:00the attributes that we are trying to
17:03attain and integrate within ourselves as
17:05we go along our path in ceremonial magic
17:07that I feel like not enough people have
17:09been talking about. You can get all into
17:12the practical sides of the work. You can
17:14perform your daily rituals, you can
17:16progress through these grades on your
17:18own, but until you're actually
17:20integrating these other things that
17:22changes aspects of the self and exalts
17:25aspects of the self, then whatever we're
17:27manifesting might not be 100% in our
17:30best interest. As we develop these
17:32attributes, it becomes easier to see
17:34clearly as we are developing these
17:36layers of the self, layers of the aura,
17:38and it makes us actually manifest these
17:41results that we're looking for without
17:42necessarily trying so hard to get
17:45specific things within our lives. We
17:47realize that there's something deeper
17:48than just trying to attain things on the
17:50external, that we already have these
17:52things, and if we focus on what we do
17:55have within ourselves and what we are
17:57cultivating within our connection to the
17:59divine, all our needs met and all of our
18:01aspects that we need are fulfilled. If
